turn off keyboard backlight? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

i tried to search but cant find any good solutionabout this,
how do you turn off the backlight of the keyboard manually? with my delicate fingers i can actually type in tp2 using my fingers, however in a decent light condition, the keyboard backlight automatically turns on sometimes and i cant read the characters on the keyboard (wished the buttons are black)
i tried to turn off the kb backlight autosensor, turns out it manually turns on the backlight, not turning it off.
any ideas?

I would also like to know how to shut off the keyboard back light.
I think it is a waste of battery life sometimes.
Do anyone know how to create some kind of manual switch that would allow me to toggle between having it on (with the auto sensor) and just always off?
I remember having some kind of application for this on my palm centro.
Thanks

Anyone?
The only work around I have found so far is to open the keyboard, then press the power button then press it again, and not touch the keyboard, and the back light will remaind off. I do this so I can watch videos with the keyboard out and the screen tilted.

you can change the timeout in hkcu\controlpanel\backlight\qkeyledtimeout default is 10. maybe you can change it to 0 or atleast 1.
it looks like keylightautosensor might be what you are looking for. you can try em out. soft reset to apply.

That didn't seem to do anything?

Does anyone knows how to do that??

Slide out Keyboard should turn on Keys lights... any Hack?

I'd like my keyboard lights to turn on when I slide it out... a lot of times I need to write something in a dim light or while driving, so I have to press any key just to turn on keyboard light, then press backspace and begin writing... I'm sure there is a "civilized way" to do it... anybody knows?
Start - settings - buttons - backlight - Uncheck enable keyboard backlight auto sensor
wow thanks bro.
That doesn't work for me...
Keys only light when pressed regardless of that setting.

FWIW, this is the way it's always worked (even under WM5, which is why this doesn't belong in this forum, btw). Unchecking "enable keyboard backlight auto sensor" only forces the keyboard light on under ANY lighting circumstances. With it unchecked, KB only lights in a dark environment.
You still need to press a key, regardless. Get used to the placement of the Shift key ... very useful for this.
Again, this has been hashed and rehashed on these forums for many months. A little reading never hurt anyone, and you'd probably find your answers faster, without making so many Sr. Members angry.

Ear touches the screen in a call

Hey, everytime I am in a call, my ear taps the taskbar and it opens the notification window which covers my call screen. I have googled and searched this forum with no success.
Apart from TouchLockPro, was just curious as to if there is anything that addresses this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Do you have something (case?) blocking the proximity sensor? The screen should be turning off as soon as you put the phone to your ear.
Yes I do. I've just tested it out, that seems to be the problem. So is there any tweak to prevent this?
i know even with the screen turning off with the proxy censor i will find i am in the screen with the connections and battery info when i am done with a call... its kind of annoying and worrys me a bit i might accadently end the call when the screen is off.... also the flip over to make it a confrence phone is a 50/50 thing... this device is so glitchy
I randomly get this too, I think sometimes the sensor isn't used.. There are times I've noticed I can cover it up completely with my thumb and the screen doesn't go off, but other times it works just fine.

Tweak...some testing to see where the sensor is (somewhere along the top near the HTC logo) and an X-acto knife to the case?
same thing happens to me, most of the time somehow I turn on airplane mode and the call disconnects.. sigh
TouchLockPro has a feature which turns the screen off using the G-sensor, but it's not just for calls, if you have it horizontal it'll be on, and if vertical it suspends/screen turns off; this would be good if it was just for calls, especially for those that use a case.
I'm just starting to use TouchLockPro (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215) and I have most of the locking features turned off - I just hit the power button if I want to lock it.
It does keep the screen locked during a call so I no longer hit the buttons. Plus - when it unlocks I'm right back, exactly, where I left off.
There's lots of options to tweak, I think there's something for just about everyone.
I LOVE unlocking with the zoom bar - first time I've used that thing on my phone

Awesome. Mind sharing what settings you have enabled, please?
Sure
Light Sensor, Stylus Sensor, GSensor, Nav Sensor, :
Nothing checked (all disabled)
Keyboard:
Use Slider, Suspend On Slider In, Slider Out Disables LockMode and EnableInputAtSuspend are all checked, everything else is un-checked (HTC Lock API, Double TouchPanel Lock and KeepAliveAlways are un-checked.
BattClock:
just some preferences set for appearance
Telephone API:
Everything is checked (except light)
Software:
Nothing set up
Other Settings:
AutolockOnPowerOn and UnlockOnACPower are checked, everything else is un-checked (added vibrates Lock/Unlock once - I like the extra notification)

thanks! works like a charm now, is there any way to lock it if it is idle for like 30 secs or something without havin to hit the power button
There's a number of ways to lock it using the various sensors - you can try one of those and see what fits your habits / style best. You can also click on the BattClock icon to get the menu - the lock icon is right there. That's 2 steps though...

Way to turn off keyboard lighting

Anyone know of a way to do this? I like to watch movies with the screen in the tilted up position, but the lights are distracting and eat up valuable battery power. Be nice to turn them off when not needed.
there use to be a setting for this in settings>personal>...and either "input" or "buttons"
I know it was taken out in the new rom...cause I can no longer control this.
Anyone know if this can be controlled/modified in the registry?
Edit: It could have been under power options...now that I am a little more awake...but I remember having this option when I had the original rom w/touchflo3D, cause it was one of the main things I would adjust whenever first getting a phone or hard-resetting.

[Q] How to disable backlight when it's not needed?

During the day, here is no need for the screen to be lit. But looks like it turns backlight on when turn on...
Tried to use minimum light instead of automatic, but still turns on the backlight :\
Any ideas?
Bump, was about to ask the same question.
In Android 5.0.1 you can turn off the backlight on motions.
Can not turn it off when you receive notifications but me I see no huge issue.
There is a app .... think somebody posted it in Android Wear forum that gives you more control if you want it darker.
edit
To lock your screen press the side button 3 times consecutively. Your screen will stay on without the backlight (monochrome look) but won't turn on when u look at or touch the screen. You can activate the screen with 1 click. Or unlock it again with 3 clicks. Handy for saving battery life I just found it by messing about and was looking everywhere on forums.

Head unit instead of a torch(aka. no screen timeout)

Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't figure out how to set a screen timeout. I saw threads about screensaver, etc. but never came across a post about telling how to make the HU turn off the screen automatically and stay like that. There is a legend about Android being configurable, but this is killing it for me.
I know there is several ways to do it manually like long pressing the Mute(thx to Wolf Hamburg) or trying to locate the incredible small on screen button, which I find even more stupid and dangerous than texting in the car. But besides it's far from being comfotable, there are a few more issues which I should face when the screen is off. First it will turn back on seemingly random. It will turn back on if I change the volume, not like on my phone. To avoid this I tried to activate the speed dependent volume control, at most it could have been a workaround, but it was malfunctioning as well...(after 5 sec you switched off the screen it will set the safe volume, then turn back on the screen, if you retry it might work for some time after the second try).
What I'm looking for is a very basic functionality which works with every android phone I know: set a screen timeout (15-30 sec) and being able to change the volume without lighting up the display.
I would be really thankful for a solution!
p.s.: I already tried to switch off the stay always on in the debugger menu, without any effect :\
That bothers me too, specially screen coming back on volume change.
Hope someone develop a solution.

This isnt normal Android, its been modified to work with car head unit components in a car stereo and the Chinese devs have, annoyingly, done it so that ANY screen press, even volume changes, turns on the screen. Theoretically it shouldnt be too hard to change, just a case of searching for the code and of course there will also be some sort of interaction with the MCU. You could try looking in the build prop if your unit is rooted.
If you have a Klyde unit with hard buttons, holding down mute will turn the screen off, this may work on others too.

Today; Is there any solution for this to turn off the screen automatically? I'm looking at lots of posts without finding anything. I hope someone can help me. I have Android 6.0.1 Mashmallow.
I use this app, activated by my SWC. Only minor issue is that you have to tap screen to turn on. Screen stays off during volume changes.
