TomTom Car kit for ppc and extension antenna for TomTom gps

Happy New Year everyone! Has anyone tried the carkit which is available from TomTom (€69.00)? http://www.tomtom.nl/products/products.php?ID=214&Language=1 It doesn't specify any particular model, it also says it can charge the gps too.
I drive a double-decker Rock & Roll sleeper bus, my XDA II is working fine in my car with both TomTom bt gps And my Jabra 200 but even if I mount & power the gps receiver in the upstairs window of my bus I'm not convinced that it will perform well in the narrow streets with tall buildings. TomTom say that there is an optional extension antenna, but where can I find one?
Thanks

Is this GPS receiver any good:

I'm looking at the Rikaline 6010 GPS receiver which is means to be excellent, should I buy this one or the tomtom 3 GPS receiver which is under it ? They are both around the same price - anyone had any experience ?
id go for the tomtom receiver
when i had the raikaline 6010 it didnt seem to be as good signal compared to the haicom and tomtom gps
rikaline gps
Hi guys,
I've not been too kind to TomTom & their products, but with TomTom 3 BT and the latest Rikaline (6030 or something like that) running my Autoroute 2004 on my laptop at the same time, it's always the Rikaline that dies first, blurb said it performed better in tree cover & city canyons, crap! Dies as soon as there is a sniff of a tree!
TomTom need to sort out quite a few things (9 CD's for example!) and routing options, but their BT GPS is far better than the Rikaline! Hope this helps. 8)

Go for the TomTom branded one, it's made by Leadtek and is a superb receiver.
Hi jashry,
I used the Rikaline before and all I can tell you is, that it is a real piece of ****.
Now I have EMTAC CRUX II BT and that one is perfect!

I dont agree, The 6010 was highly recomended to me, so i bought one.
At first it didnt work very well (tomtom 3.01) but now that I got tomtom5 it works like a dream.
All i need to do now is mount the PDA lower on the dash so every man and his dog doesnt see the display.

Globalstar BT 338 bluetooth GPS mouse for my XDAII.

I want to buy the Globalstar BT 338 bluetooth GPS mouse for my XDAII. Antbody has already some experience with this combination?
Bart
If you mean the Globalsat BT-338 SiRF star III Bluetooth GPS Receiver, yes I have some experience with it, under WM2003 and WM5. It works pretty well and has caused me no troubles at all with configuration or Bluetooth isues. I recommend it to everyone.
got one too, works well with Tomtom
me too with Destinator, i rekon BT338
cheer
chek out GPSlim 256 rom holux!
hi guys,
must check the GPSlim 256 from Holux as well....its a beauty!
very very small and thin... works wonderful.... and the best part is that has a battery similar to nokia 6600, 1100, etc... so the replacememnt battery is a breeze to get the hands on!
i use it with TOMTOM, Smart Map, Vito Navigator, Navigon5, etc... it works like a wonder! try it....

GPS Receiver

All,
I have a MDA III and considering to purchase a Bluetooth GPS receiver and have narrowed it down to two devices
1)Holux 236
2)Rikaline 6033
Does anyone have experience of using any of these devices and how well do they work?
Thanks
Msuk
any reason why the BT 338 isn't on that list?
IIRC, the Holux will not be able to connect serially to the BA for lack of a proper cable.....
and the BT 338 is amazing, has great battery life and it works quite well with the BA. I have been using it with TomTom and so far,its been great!
Kaz
Either of those two are good solutions. My favourite is the Holux GPSLim236, as it has a hardware ON/OFF switch.
It's a better performer than the Globalsat BT338, more sensitive.
The USB-Serial Cable is available from HoluxUK should you ever want to use it as a GPS Mouse although why you'd want to I don't know!

Yep! My pda2k work just fine together with BT-338! Very good device!
I have just received a Qstarz BT 8080 (rebadged Rikalin 6033 I think) and it works flawlessly with my TT5 and only took a couple of goes to set up as "other Bluetooth device". The reason I changed from the supplied tomtom GPS unit is that the Qstarz automatically detects 12v line in and powers up; and then powers-off when the voltage drops. I can now hard-wire the GPS into my car ignition circuit and not have to press any buttons, so can hide it.
I've just bought an APOSsite Solutions GPS626 wireless receiver.
You can see it here: http://www.apos-tec.com
I was gonna get a Holux but the man in the shop warned me that he has had several faulty ones returned. He could have said nothing and made more money off me (because the Holux costs more than the APOS one) but the fact that he didn't spoke volumes to me!
I'm using it with Tomtom 3 (until I get a copy of Tomtom 5) and it all seems fine. Nice and quick to start up, too.
I have the BT338 and it is awesome.
I have a Holux GPSLim236, I've owned a couple of different bluetooth recievers and the holux is just ace, hard to think how you would improve on it.
I you can afford it ,it really is the best.

Nice web site, thanks for your share.
A couple of months ago, I purchased my WBT-200 Bluetooth GPS/Logger from Semsons.com.
They are quick and reliable.
The WBT-200 GPS is awsome, I use it a lot off and on the road.
My favorite GPS programs are:
iGuidance 3.0
VitoNavigator 2.0
and GPS Tuner
The best accessory for my Prophet yet!
Regards,
Rayan
anyone know which one on that site is good? BTW, I'm cheap.
That is pretty cheap. I think ebay is even better. I got a holux slim 240 bt gps the size of a lipstick for $60 with shipping (here it is $75)and it works very well except I have not tried with voice guidance software but just google maps. If you don't mind a bigger one then the holux 236 I've read is good but mine is much smaller and compact.
Yep i agree Ebay is much better i got two and run tomtom and Oziexplorer in tandem when offroad, they both track with their own units with no dropout in realtime . Best of all Hp ipaq gps reciever $65 delivered and the second 32 satellite reciever $75 delivered tooo easy!
I use ROYALTEK 2210 Sirf Star III/LP in my Qtek S200 and it's works fine. In this web cost 59 Euros http://www.impextrom.com/tienda_producto.asp?id_tienda=12&id=11956 .
