Every product as versatile as the MDA Pro, deserves it's own comunity. As it's a ground-breaking device and sports a brand new operating system, there are likely to be numerous teething problems.
There are few good sources of information available for the mda pro at present, the best of which being this one. Despite containing everything you could need to know, I found it very difficult for a novice to find info quickly.
Whilst waiting for my phone to arrive, I bought the website www.mdapro.uk , I've set up a forum there, for beginners like my self, to get the full potential out of there phone / mini laptop / PDA ....
I've produced this site as I'm the proud owner of a new MDA Pro and I'm sure I can use it for more than browsing the net on the Loo. There's an obvious need for a site dedicated to the MDA Pro and I hope www.mdapro.co.uk will be helpfull to a lot of people.
www.mdapro.co.uk is for anyone who owns or is thinking of purchasing an I-mate Jasjar / MDA Pro / XDA Exec / HTC Universal or any of it's other guises.
Please join my forum and help to build a community. There's power in numbers and together we can overcome any problems each of us may have. Together we can make the proposition of upgrading to a PDA as simple and pain-free as possible.
Thanks

Tip - get some proper hosting (add-free stuff), and sort the formatting on teh front page out :/ - one slim column of text on the left with adds on teh right and nothing in teh middle.
Its a good idea though, and could probably have been integrated here somehow, providing the admins have the time and inclination to do it.
Thanks for tips!
The big blank bit in the middle is gonna contain a general phone overview, (When I get chance to write it). I've only really been concentrating on getting the forum up and running, which I think is all set up correctly now.
My hosting company seem pretty efficient so far. They were chosen on cost alone. If I get enough members to quantify upgrading, I will search for better hosting. While there's only a handfull of members, my £20 per year hosting should do just fine. At least for now.
If there's anything anyone would like including on the site, I'm more than happy to listen. Likewise to any advice or criticism.
I think making sure you and XDA Devs don't cross the same ground is important, so making sure somehow your site is providing a specific and different service.
Also, I would put a big obvious link back to XDA Devs as a courtesy.
Best of luck.
Joe
Thanks Joe,
I dont want to step on anyones toes, here. I intend my site to be specific to one phone, aimed at begginers and prospective upgraders.
Xda developers is a fantastic source of info for all levels. Its only downfall is that it is difficult for beginners, such as myself, to navigate. I want my site to fill the gap for beginners. I only really want to to include tried and tested methods on my site, rather than experimental material. I will link to xda developers for more advanced users and further reading.
I'm more than happy to include links to this site anywhere it may be relevant.
Sank5!
Just registered on your forum...
Hope it will be a success... at least I am there for you
hee i am one off the newest member i hope to learn a lot overthere.
This is my first pda ,mda so i wil putt my newbie questions there thanks anyway 8)
Thanks for your support
Thanks to everyone who's joined my forum. The sites almost completely functional now, if lacking a bit in content. We currently have a massive 20 users!
Now you've all had your MDA Pro's for a while, I'd appreciate it if you shared your experiences with us. I've been too busy with work and the site to have a good play with my phone, but I intend that to change very soon any hints / advice would be more than welcome.
Does anyone know how to capture a screen shot on the MDA Pro or run a macromedia flash movie as I am getting desperate for both.
Thanks

sank5: for screenshots check out MagicSS. Not perfect but almost.
For Flash, not really sure, but check out a thread on benchmarking the Uni. You can cross reference by searching by my username and vjsihaya.

I have a QTEK 9000. Does this mean i cannot join?
I just tried to access it now but "Cannot find server" came out.
Edited:
It's ok now, seems one ofr the links above says www.msdapro.uk when clicked
@sank5
I use Resco PhotoViewer on my device. It comes with a Screen Capture "add on" which works perfect for me.
Some "always on top" window will be opened in the middle including the button to make the shot (which can be delayed by 10 seconds if You like).
You can browse through all programs to prepare the screen as You need it before taking the shot, nicely working for me.

Ruud

Got Flash Working Now, thanks to 'findus'. You can download it here:-

Works well, but much slower than the desktop version. I'm off to checkout MagicSS and Resco PhotoViewer.
Thanks Again

Bounty/Poll for a hardware zoombar with working buttons on Blackstone: $120 and €65
A bounty for a Hardware Zoom bar with working buttons on Blackstone is set
The conditions for the bounty:
The Zoom bar should work at least in following apps and it have to be WinMo v6.1 and v6.5 compatible:
- Opera
- Topaz Camera
- HTC Album
The standard button function is working with a long button press or double press in this apps...
In the rest of the ROM and apps the buttons should work as always..
Proof of concept:
There were 2 projects but they are on hold now, and likely will not be continued.

The project that is first finished with a satisfying result will collect the bounty!
On completion a mass-PM will be send out as a notification to all who pledged with the required paying information!
The bounty is NOT collected by me!
I' am just maintaining this Thread and will update the first post with
the total amount of pledges!
DO NOT pledge if you are NOT serious with this!!!
I will donate 20$ myself for such a great enhancement!!

Bounty management can be done as so. Just make them pledge an amount and when it's finished, tell them to donate it to the dev.
Come On...Nobody want this feature on his Blackstone??!
The Blackstone would be one par with Rhodium and Topaz just with
a 3,5 mm audio jack ^^
At least post your opinions! Do you like the idea of a Bounty, and what kind
of Bounty management would you prefer? And if you don't like it please
post why!
Count me in for $20 USD.

I think a bounty is a great idea. I would post a list of all people who pledged and upon completion of the potential project, send out a mass PM alerting all pledgers that the project is done and the bounty needs to be paid. This is what I did with the Tachi phone canvas port back in the Dev and Hacking when I was using a Fuze.
1. Keep a running total on the 1st page with all pledgers and their amounts.
2. Keep up with the thread and development, should it begin
3. Post updates in post #1 with links to the updates
4. When the project is completed, link to either the new thread or the post where it was posted within this thread.
5. Send out a mass-PM as a notification to all who pledged.
Pros and Cons of a bounty are obvious... Pros are that you can attract a lot of developer attention with a large bounty. Cons are that not everyone who pledges will honor their pledge... It really is bad that some people will pledge that they'll pay but then use the software and never do actually pay up.
Those are just my 2 cents
Damn this sounds like work
I'm relatively new on this forum i hope the community will give my a hand ^^
Count me in for another 10 USD!
$10 from me!
Count me in for 15 euros (not dollars )
I'm in...
Put me down for $20.
The bounty is doing well, keep it up
Come On developers, get going!!
The user really want this on their Blackstone!!
Give us a Hand!!!
Count me in for 15€ (euro)
i'm in for $10
[edit]
after some deliberation i'll do $20 to the author and $10 to XDA-Devs Site
[/edit]
Up !! Up !! Up !!
You should put how much bounty you've accumulated in the thread title.
I had the same idea, but didn't found the option then.
Thanks for the tip ^^
A other question, is it possible to embed YouTube videos in post's??
This would be very usefull.

No But you could get creative! Make the URL point to the youtube link and take an SS of the youtube vid and create a img file, upload it and use IMG tag inside of the URL tag so there's a img of the youtube file and when you click it, it takes you to the youtube video.
I have added the Screen shot with the link to YouTube!
And i added a request for a YouTube BB Code on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531190
I think this would be a helpful feature for XDA dev!!
UP UP UP
Where is the version from the video?
looks awesome anyway! id be up for 15 euros to get my hands on this!
The version from the video is on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515701
but it's not released now. Namuk is not the developer, the original thread
seems to be here:
http://www.htc-world.com/viewthread.php?tid=1422&extra=page=1
maybe the real developers are interested in the bounty, but they don't know about it??
Can someone who speak Chinese post a message on that thread and point
them to our bounty thread, please??!!!

OKAY, HERE IS THE HELPFUL LINK ON OUR HERMES
http://www.mikechannon.net/page1.html
the only thing you might need is the microphone. but where to get it in your country i don't know. you can try the microphone of some old broken phone (this one you can get from your friends in some dervice center).
you can try pdacenter.ru or ebay.com
hope this can help you someway.
Go to Mike's Channon page, download service manual and dismantle your hermes.
Getting to the mic is really easy, you will end the proccess in the few first steps, the most problematic ones won't be neccessary
Don't be afraid, it's not so hard. Just make sure you have a good soldering tool, and remember not to overheating the board.
Good luck!
Have a look in Hermes Service manual. You should find everything you need.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Service_Manual

there you can find not only servicee manuals, but video on dissaaamling device.

i'm looked Mike's Channon page, but there only have Hermes Fuse Location.pdf & Hermes Service Manual _A03_[2].pdf (in this PDF files don't have Microphone FiX how to )
and i founded all master tools, soldering tools toooo
I just don't want BAD confusion , or something to do with motherboard!!!
please help, have another way to change my microphone manually by me
Just use this service manual to dismantle your mainboard from the rest (no need for further dismantling). The mic is located at the bottom of the board, covered with a small piece of gum - just replace it... I doubt you can find an exact instruction of how to do it - just unsolder the old one and solder the new one

i-mate JAMA faceplate - where to buy?

Hi Friends,
I have been using i-mate JAMA for last few years and I am very much addicted in using it and experimenting lot of stuff that goes over this forum.
I had upgraded to WM6.1 and now, my phone has got minor damages on the panel. As I can not afford a new mobile (being jobless for a while), I am thinking to source a faceplate for the same and replace it?
I had searched for the same through google, but could not find much help.
I request you all the esteemed members throw some light on where to get the compatible faceplate for my i-mate JAMA?
Appreciate your valuable inputs.
regards,
pk
I have not got any reply to my above request.
I am searching in google and just wanted to check whether any of the below phone's faceplate fits for i-mate JAMA?

Heya, I'd really prefer someone who has made a few more posts - the idea is to be able to give back to someone in the xda-developers community, by passing these onto someone that's contributed posts, helpful info etc.
However as there hasn't been much interest so far, I'll wait for another week or so and if no one else replies, then they're all yours. PM me on the 6th of April with your address and I'll send them down to you if no one else has asked.
Cheers - and hope you enjoy being here on xda-developers.
