SMS chat/classic view modes - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

On my previous HTC TyTN I had the possibility to select the SMS "view mode".
The default was "chat mode" but I didn't like it because I prefer to see each single SMS indipendently.
Is there a way to switch to the "classic view mode" even on the TP2 ?
I have installed the official HTC WM6.1 ROM
Thanks

I've seen reports of Adv Config causing problems on TP2, so I'm avoiding it. Does anyone have any tips on the reg settings to apply for this specific tweak please?

Edit: here we go, found this cool solution:

If you use Adv Config just to change this reg key, there are no risks!

Why bother with any of that when you can just go to All Settings>System>Text Messaging and switch it to "classic" mode?

I don't know which ROM you're using but I've tried :
- the Orange official ROM
- the HTC WM6.1 official ROM
- the HTC WM6.5 official ROM
and none of them had this option

Looks like it's something on either the US roms or the Verizon ROM specifically. That's unfortunate you have to hack the registry for something that should be a simple menu change.

Why "unfortunate"? It's funny to hack the registry.
Also when you change the menu option, the software simply change a registry key so it's exactly the same

Intent Midlet Manager + GMail Font Size Fix ?

I have installed the latest Intent Midlet Manager available Here on my Universal with the latest Helmi_C WM6 Rom (v1.1).
But i get very small font sizes
Tried searching here but could not get a Fix
Anybody know how to fix this
the midlet manager seems to be for the wizard and not for universal. maybe it went wrong there....
do a hard reset and it should be normal.
is there a version (v.11) available for Universal.
Cause the default version cannot run the GMail app ?
I have soft reset it but does not work (a hard reset would remove the app)

You can add this key to fix.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tao\intent\conf\sys\ui\midp\vnd\font]
"stringfont"="andale,24"
"size"="24"
"labelfont"="andale,24,bold"
"alttextfont"="monotype.com,24"
Quote: Posted by pshetty: But i get very small font sizes Tried searching here but could not get a Fix Anybody know how to fix this :confused
There is a switch in the software. Open Midlet, open Gmail app:
Select... Menu < Goto < Settings
The "use small fonts" switch is enabled by default. Uncheck this, save, close the app and restart:
Font is still small but useable on Universal.
Excellent product if you need to access gmail wirelessly.

With your registry editor you have to add each of the folders mentioned in the post up to FONT, then you have to put in the four strings recommended into the FONT folder.

HTC_Trinity_3.00.07.09.PV is out!

I have no idea what the differences are between these:
HTC_Trinity_02.07.06.PV.rar
HTC_Trinity_02.07.07.PV.rar
HTC_Trinity_3.00.07.08.PV.rar
HTC_Trinity_3.00.07.09.PV.rar
Anyone have a change log in English?
You can download 07.09.PV using the Official Download Manager attached.
Perhaps someone could enlighten us to the differences as this ROM seems to be the best and most stable compared to the all other Roms including Dopod D810 Official Roms posted recently.
Also, as a suggestion to mods it would also be nice if the Rom WIKI page was the place where everyone posted ROM updates / links so this list is more frequently updated - perhaps pinning the list at the start of this forum as PDAVIET does instead of having to scroll through the forum.

1. In this ROM the default Java applet is changed to Esmertec. But it doesnt seem to work very well with Opera Mini & Opera Mini 4beta. Both of them are crashing each time here. Can anyone confirm this or is it me?
Is it possible to uninstal Esmertec Java and install another Java client?
2. When i installed this ROM, the START Menu was black, but i changed the theme a few times to test some things. I went back to the 'Windows default', but the title bar is seablue/green. Is there any way to change it back to black? (Shouldnt be to hard right?)

I'm using Opera Mini 3.1.2 High memory version, and it just works without any crash. Maybe in the previus pdaviet release it was a bit faster, but I can't be sure because it depends also on the network I'm actually connected to.
Check the security settings of Esmertec, tapping on the applet and allowing network access without confirmation.
Ciao
Tried that, but didnt work. Is it possible to install another version (for a different brand/type mobile phone) on the P3600 that doesnt run on Java?
If you go to operamini.com, does the site recognize your phone? It didnt work here, so i think i have a 'global' version installed that works for most phones.
Does anyone know how to setup MMS account in this ROM.
There there isn't any tab to manage ports and urls for MMS like in previous versions.
Device Locked
After a reset my trinity stuck on windows startup screen.
I think it's related to the new Kaiser HomePlug.
If you don't have any suggestions, I have to do an hard reset and reinstall 3.00.07.08

Agreed - a great ROM - I'm currently running it and it is fast ans stable. Never had to soft reset yet!
However, I don't believe that tom_codon is the author. It's Mr PhamQuang I think. tom_codon - can you confirm / deny - i thought you were involved with PDAVIET without being the ROM cook.

Yes, you need one of the HTC_Default themes in the ROM - not the Windows Default. I in fact love the seablue/green - with the black "vista" background on today screen and the HTC Homeplug. it's not the boring blue - the colour brightens it up a bit - without the HTC vomit green

How to map softkey to New SMS?

need to go thru few steps to start new msg.anyone knows how to map softkey to New SMS?
You can easily do it using my Advanced configuration tool, you can as well map any other hardware key to New SMS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306301&highlight=soft+keys
That was found through "Search"...
Download the Treo app for SMS (check the forum for a link). It's great and maps the softkey the way you want it. Once you use threaded SMS you could never go back to vanilla messaging.

In the SoftKeys application list you should have "New SMS", there is also a New SMS shortcut in Shortcuts folder that you can map to any button.

But you need to create a file New SMS.lnk first right ? (containing 49#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to ""-body"")
Otherwise I do not see this option.
It would be nicer if this link replaced the Delete button in the messaging application though ; rather than having to associate a main button to it
i 2nd the palm threaded sms app.. it seriously beats the standard app to a pulp

Problems with Orange rom 1.93.405.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I downloaded the new rom update 1.93.405.1 and it all works perfect but a little problem is that when i press phone on the main menu in the bottom left hand corner it used to say contacts but now it says video call is this normal and how do i change it if there is already a Thread on this please link it could not find it.
Thanks Genisis
thats normal for a 1.93 rom.
just go to the registry and change it to what you want.
To change the Keys target, install a reg edit program like PHM reg edit
and modify this key.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila]
"HomeLSKText"=
"HomeLSKPath"=
Changing the "path" and "text" to point to what ever you choose
Or, if you don't have a registry editor, there is always the cab in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2878253&postcount=11

Actually, that changes the softkey on the home page. To change the one in the dialler to say "Contacts" instead of "Video Call", the registry key is this:
HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE\LSKContact
Change the DWORD value to 1
The cab linked to in my post above does the same thing.
did not read the post correctly from my device - I presumed the user was referring to Tf3d soft keys.
well spotted and thanks for the correction
