AT&T Tilt2 CABS/TIPS/Problems/Useful Links - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I have read a lot of threads about the Touch Pro 2, but there are few that are meant for the AT&T version. Maybe we create a thread specifically for the AT&T version?
First off to flash your devide you need Hard-SPL. Thanks to the Olipro team!
Thanks to Scrog for the Enablerapinew for flashing Hard SPL easily, and Dot Task manager for editing. Unfortunately a 100% keyboard fix isnt here yet, from what I have seen, but people are working on it. Make sure to read the first few pages of this thread for issues and CABs on the keyboard:

I know there was a keyboard CAB released for anyone flashing a different ROM. I will compile a few CABS and such to help out my fellow AT&T peoples.
Here is a link to a Keyboard re-map program that will allow you to change any key to do whatever you wish.

Anyone else feel free to add stuff that works. I wanted to add Advanced Config, but it requires NET CF 3.5 found here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ZGV1DNJ
Here is how to add new cities to the weather tab database. I take no credit for this as its copied from other available threads, but I thought I'd add it here since this was SUCH A PAIN IN MY ARSE to get working on the Tilt2.
Step 1) Download Total Commander or Resco File Explorer
Step 2) Go the Windows directory and copy the file called "2330fc3c_manila" to your SD card.
Step 3) In your SD card, find the 2330fc3c_manila file, and change its properties so that 'read-only' is UNCHECKED
Step 4) Copy 2330fc3c_manila back to you Windows directory
Step 5) Download the Weather Database Editor (WDE) cab (Version 1.20) and install onto your Tilt2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...0&d=1223638121
Step 6) Soft reset
Step 7) You can now use WDE to add cities!

How to get YouTube to work:
-The Youtube program is already installed, AT&T didnt link the exe.
Go to file explorer under the Windows folder, and scroll down to the 433kb YouTube file. Copy that and past it into your Windows -> Start Menu -> Programs or Apps or where ever you want the icon to be folder.
*Make sure you then go to Start -> Tools -> Proxy Manager -> Disable Proxy.

Forgive me.....
Enablerapinew? Never heard of this, what does it do?

Freezing Problems
Is anyone else having freezing problems on their Tilt 2. Mine seems to freeze all the time.
Here are the apps I have installed in case one of them is creating the problem:
Microsoft My Phone
Microsoft .NET CF 3.5
Izaxo_SkiersApp
RESET_VegasPoolS
TheAs_ApMobile
Weath_WeatherBug
SlingPlayer Mobile
Microsoft Voice Command
Microsoft TagReader
Barguast Groovefish
Microsoft Windows(r) Marketplace
Also, Total Commander refuses to install on my Tilt 2
Just wondering if it is my Tilt 2, or if this is a common problem. By the way, I am still using the stock ROM
Thanks

I have error reporting enabled on my phone. I get an error saying some program rc.exe crashed. I have no clue what this program is, but it crashes 12 times a day. Maybe you have this program on your phone.

All the cabs in the following two posts work on my tilt 2 cooked with the AZTOR ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4740115&postcount=94
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4740269&postcount=95
Includes no curtains, background for all tabs, and some others.

Also freezing
My tilt 2 freezes about 5x a day. I just took a look at it and the time says 2am. its 4:52 here!!!!
it freezes when i go into landscape mode. It freezes if i x out of a program quickly and scroll on touch flo. It pretty much freezes if i do a few things at a time.
the only program i have installed is palringo and i know it freezed before i even had it.
Any suggestions? Stock att tilt 2 ROM here.

My T2 runs std ATT ROM and I have put a number of cabs into it. It does NOT freeze up. BUT, there is an issue with TF3D.
SPB MS3.5
SPB Wallet
SPB Weather
SPB Backup
NetCF3.5
Adv. Config
Snooze Fix cab/hack -- oversleep protection
Google Maps
Reg Edit
1% Battery cab/hack -- OCD fix
DisablePopUpKeyboard cab -- stops the insanity
key re-mapper cabs/app --- killer app
However, I turned TF3D OFF before I installed MS 3.5. because I wondered whether they would conflict. Sure enough, I can not get TF3D to come back to life. Not sure whether there is a conflict or not. Thought of perusing the SPB Forum and will likely do that later. EDIT: can not run two shells at the same time...TF3D and MS3.5. Can jump back and forth or pick and choose.
I have not really explored some of the stock programs and crap yet

Un-neccessary processes running!!
I deleted a bunch of stuff from the \windows\startup folder, but still have some processes running that I would like to kill but can't seem to find a reg entry or startup link anywhere. (I know, this seems like it could be a thread of its own!)
I have already removed the following with no noticeable difference:
BTTrayCE.lnk
DelWMPTempFolder.lnk
HTCStartUp.lnk
PKG.lnkpoutlook.lnk
MessageCSPtool.lnk
These processes still show up (using MemMaid) and don't seem to be needed for anything I do. Can someone weigh in on these?
1. Opera9.exe; How to stop from loading?
Are the following needed? If not, how to stop them from loading?
2. CommManager.exe
3. QuickGPS.exe
4. HTCIMSSvc.exe
5. RegistryCSPTool.exe
Thanks

IE as default browser
Does anyone know how to set IE as the default browser? I have the AT&T Tilt 2, WM6.5 factory ROM. I have a program that is not compatible w/ the Opera browser, and I think I like the ability to switch between the 2 variants (modes) (desktop & mobile) of the IE browser.
Thanks,

Dave, you need to install a program called Darkness 231 Opera default (something like that). I'll try to upload it later, but I'm about to head out to the football game.

Does anyone have a cab for Window Live Messenger only. I don't want to use all the Windows Live stuff, just the Messenger and it's not pre-installed on the Tilt2.

Remap PTT?
anyone have a remap cab for PTT? i'm running an energy Rom so there's no PTT remap option. If no cab, has anyone tried the old fuze reg edit? Does that work for the tilt 2? i'll try that out if there's no PTT cab.

I'm curious in your rom...I just bought my tilt 2, and I really don't like getting too far away from stock roms. I would only consider a ROM that still gives me all the stock functionality...but add some tweaks for use and speed...and keeps the stock ROM general look and stability.
Could you provide some feedback on your ROM vs stock in those areas?

Hey BennyJ71,
Thank you so much for your suggestion! I followed your advice. The CAB, although a Beta, seems to work fine. IE is now my default browser - Opera continues to operate normally.
Unfortunately, this did not solve my issue like I hoped it would. I am trying to use a SkyGuide program. It worked great on my Tilt. I never git it to work on my Fuze, and now I can't get it to work on the Tilt2.
Still, I very much appreciate your help, and I like the IE browser a bit better anyhow.

Back up and restore programs, setting

hi guys,
I've been following all the different threads and topics for a while and it has been a very nice friendly place to be in.
Anyhow.. i would like to know if someone can direct me to how to make a cab file which will input all my setting, owner name, install program a, b, c, d, e, f, g and etc then will fix up the registry key and enter all the serials i have brought in the past. This way i don't have to reinstall each program (both cab and exe) again after upgrade the ROM
I'musing Black 2.5 atm and looking forward to get balck 3 today
Thanks guys
Ditto!
I think such app would be very useful for all of us beta testers
Or taster of new flavours!
Maybe our chefs already has something like this that they use!
Some are in the works
JJ and walshieau are working on projects similar to this.
JJ has "Pimp my Black" which is HTweakC on steriods and walshieau is building an app that will restore your carrier settings.
Loading apps back on are easy, as long as you sync with a PC. They never uninstall from your PC, just simply re-check the ones you want to reload on your device and there they are again.
Backup programs like SPB and Sprite have known issues between builds, as I'm sure you know since you posted as if you've read the forums on this subject. Kudos.
It would be really cool if JJ and walshieau would combine forces and make that one killer app for all customizations to be saved to a file and restored once flashed, and if a customization were to have a format or length issue, then toss an error and let the user know. (hint, program spec??? )
I keep a backup on storage card of each of the roms I've tried...just in case.....I wonder if this is misguided somehow.
Thanks.
This is my current method:
put all the cab files (inc carrier setting -offline by walshieau) in the storage card and also along with all the serial numbers in there.
I tended to do things on the go (out of the house/ no pc) so if i happened to flash my phone before i leave my house then i will be able to install all the apps back by the time i get to work. Altho it's a lengthy instalaltion process (swapping the apps, folder, serial number, folder, app, enter rego).
i actually i was going to ask so if SPB backup and other back up will not work properly right? Say, i am using black 2.5 and backup here.... then upgrade to black 3 version then if i use restore program.. it will restore me back to 2.5 instad of 3 ... is this information correct? i read it somewhere....
I used SBP backup on Black 2.0 and then flashed 2.5 and restored from the 2.0 backup. It worked and shows the new com manager skin but it reports as 2.0 in the "about" screen so I know that this isn't the right way to go. Knowing that 3.0 was comming soon and considering that the device works great I've left it this way.
When 3.0 comes out I will load my apps and data without SBP. Then after it's up I will make a backup of the fresh 3.0 installation.
i am interested in such tools too although using the Dopod D810 aka Trinity.

I am using Sprite 5.1 and it does the backup and migration from Black 2.0 to 2.5 very well only have to redo my Wifi and Email settings, all my apps works fine. The FAQ to do it is available at Sprite's website on doing devie upgrade or OS upgrades with Sprite and WM5, works fine with WM6
Be aware that SPB Backup and Sprite Backup cant restore backups on different ROM's. Mobile Backup 2007 says it can but I havent tried it yet..
Dunno if I can post the follwing link but its the place you can get Mobile Backup:
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=157755&highlight=mobile+backup
I have Sprite but last time I used it on WM5 after a hard reset, it would not restore my data So I dumped it and went with SPB which has worked flawlessly ever since. I just don't see how any backup would work properly when restoring onto a different rom, I got away with it but I know that it's not 100% right now.
i was thinking of making my own cab file where specific to install
A, B, C, D....... G software (cab files), then install carrier setting, patch all the serial numbers to each softwares, change the look and all the setting in WM6 to match my like... damn it sound so hard and i don't even know how to make a cab file...
is something like this possible to learn?
I am slowly reducing the number of cabs I need to keep on my storage card by combining and creating them with my set ups.
As I have limited knowledge, this involves using sktracker to see exactly what changes were made in the registry when I changed a setting, and then using cabmanager to create a cab containing the reg settings (or say for spb weather, adding the changes to the original cab).
I understand that patching in the serials is not straightforward as it is not meant to be easy by design.
Am having trouble with some settings like email account setup, but am working through others.
crazyC: Im having the same trouble with email accounts. It doesnt look like they are saved in the registry settings, must be in the database somewhere.
Also if you add your own registry settings to the original Cab files do you know what order things are done? ie. if it writes your reg file then installs the app it might overwrite yours.

Yeah I don't know anything about creating the database entries so am going to have to leave that.
As for the second point - I am kind of winging it so to speak, so no I don't realy know.....
As I said, am most pleased with my custom SPB weather cab, as this installs the BBC template and sets up my work and home locations as the two tabs, linking off the bbc weather source.
Have also modified the Phone Alarm cab for my skin and settings, but as there is anew beta every few days at the mo, not so useful
Am about to start work on O2 plus, and setting up my shortcuts etc on install.
looking for mobile backup 2007...is this the one
trial here
CrazyC-
been messing around with the same ideas and it's driving me crazy ha.. Do you have to manually duplicate the registry entries you want when you're adding them to the original cab file (phone alarm, for instance)?
I was trying to extract the relevant registry entries, and have a program that would let me pack them into a cab, but everything i found wanted me to manually create registry keys..
any thoughts? cause it's flashing season ha
The safest way when going between ROMs is reinstalling. I use a few techniques.
1. Install CAB files from SD card. Then you just install them one by one by tapping. Installing from Activesync can be problematic memorywise as the CAB will copy down to main memory and then be deleted after installation. This can be an issue if you have too many apps to install at once.
2. Unless the new ROM has the same device ID, email settings really have to be manually entered each time. I experimented with workarounds but they simply don't work.
3. After you install all your programs, import registry keys containing your common settings. Before erasing the previous setting, do a registry dump and then search for and find those registry keys that contain the settings. Most (but not all) are in HKEY Current User. Be careful. Don't import stuff that might break the new ROM.
4. Copy files or shortcuts from old ROM to new one. Careful though - if you are going to copy directories, use Total Commander or something. SPB Backup and WM File Explorer will REMOVE the old contents of a directory and replace it with only the stuff you have in your new copy of the directory! Total Commander only updates the new items.
5. Unfortunately, the only way to REMOVE files or registry keys (short of writing a DLL file or fancy XML?) is to manually search and delete them. I think you could probably use Mortscript to automate this but not worth the time probably unless you are flashing every day.
Between copying certain files and registries, many of my programs end up 'pre registered' on the new system. (SPB time, etc.)
Actually, I make a cab file with my preferred settings and files. I just click and go. This covers pretty much everything except email. Unfortunately the program I use cost 89$... but when I consider my billable hours, it's worth the saved time over the long run.
I can get all programs + settings in place in about 40 minutes now.
Actually, I am using visual studio 2005 and making the adjustments to the emulator image, whilst watching the registry in the remote registry viewer. Once have identified the keys, I export them as reg files and then simply import them into cabmanager.
Depends on if you have access to VS2005.
I am sure there is a simpler way, (and am happy to learn it) but as I have occassional access to VS2005, this was how I decided to do it. Am using the WM6 SDK as well of course.
Because I keep updating the Phone Alarm beta, I actually modified the cab for the VisDaPhone skin to include my modified icons, and also to install the PA export file. Just running that cab after installing Phone alarm, and then importing the theme etc works for me. I did roll it all into one on an earlier version of PA, so it all started as per my settings, but then there was a new beta......

I reckon (thanks to the exchange server) I can be back up in twenty!
If I can sort out the O2plus setup then I will reduce that as well.
I keep a word document on my sd card with a step by step guide for myself with serial numbers etc and settings.

Java / Opera Mini

I've discovered the wonders of Opera Mini...
My ROM includes Esmertec Java... I was wondering if there's a way of launching Opera directly from a shortcut rather than having to load Esmertec first, and if there's a way to bypass/default the security/connect questions when starting the applet? I'd really like operamini to replace Pocket IE on my hard button....
"\Program Files\EsmertecJbed\jbed.exe" -run s0_
where 0 is the number of installed java application
Hope this helps

Any way to get round the 'go online' permissions warnings?
Hint for anyone else - you don't need a return at the end of the link line, otherwise it won't work.
I found some info on removing the onlune authorisation stuff, editting the selector.utf file, but really cannot get it to work - anyone got any cluse? please?
Check this out, you might like it:
Opera Mini 4 on Windows Mobile as Default Browser
Got everything working - here's how...
Took some playing. Got the shortcut to work, but not the online warnings. Turned out that I couldn't change it because the version of jbed was in ROM. Installing a new version over the top fixed it.
I also found a cab file that creates the shortcut, removes the security warnings, and makes it default browser for urls in emails... it also installs mortscript to enable it to do this. I've attached all relevant files below. Browse to www.operamini.com and downlaod the high memory version to install on your device first!
Oh, another hint - if you aren't running any other java apps, delete the contents of windows\appdb before starting to clean everything out.
If installing the cabs, do all to device and not storage card.
Then allocate it to the IE Button, and you have Opera Mini as default browser!
excellent! been wondering about this for a while!
Cheers!

Hello, I have a file "WM6 OperaMiniAsDefaultBrowser - WithoutSelectionDialog.cab", and she works correctly, but at the start java, get the error message "could not find s0_" and then opens the opera mini. My question is is it possible to remove this message?
Thanks.

Here's a Challenge for Pocket PC Wizards!

I'm running WM6.1. HTC Sprint Vogue. 3.02rom.
My phone's Settings and Programs links DO work but it does NOT have the files htcPrograms.exe and htcSettings.exe anywhere on the phone. (Other users have experienced this.) In order to use a custom cube and make icons linked to those two files work, I downloaded them to the windows directory. This workaround works like a charm for Settings but htcPrograms will only run once. Even if I click on that program from the File Explorer, nothing happens. If I reboot, it will work again but one time only. Any ideas?

amateur/newbie in need of help thred

Hi guys, ive had my touch hd 3 days now and ive been riducled by everyone that i didnt go for a iphone, however ive spent alot of time on here and its plain to see that so much can be done and be added!
Now i gotta confess i dont know what a CAB file is, i dont know what ROM is, i dont know what this manilla is, so i hope you can see my probs!
During my 3 days ive managed to download the blackpad dialler and the hd tweak(altho they took me ages), but i wanna change the theme, the wallpapers, i wanna add apps like google maps etc..
I hope this thread will attract people who can help people like myself out and explain how to do stuff and where to go etc..
Btw how do i choose a downloaded song(synced via windows media) to be my ringtone? haha such a amateur!
Thank you for any help in advance!
have you read the wiki? that will help allot, helped me 2.
the wiki??? lol
a .cab is an install file you copy to your phone and then tap it to execute from like file explorer. most installs if they are exe you run them on you PC and they send a cab file to you phone through activesync. but if its a cab file just copy to you phone and execute. If you dont like it yoou can uninstall from eith the phone in Settings/System/Remove Program.. or from you PC on activesynce or mobile device center.
Where on the phone is file explorer? but thanx for the rest, actually makes sense, god im blonde!
where can i read about this wiki?
Its in programs.
Honestly, I would reccomend you go through your phone. Go into programs and see whats there. Then go into each of the settings options and see whats there.
Then learn the hierarchy of your phone memory.
You will see that it is similar to Windows.
The top directory will be"My Device" and under it will be "Storage Card" which is your memory card (similar to an external hard drive analogy for a desktop) and then you will see Program Files where programs are installed and My Documents contains the following folders and more:
My Videos where you videos you record will be saved
My Pictures
This is the wiki page - it's VERY helpful: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone
And, the software wiki is here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Software
You chose well. The Blackstone is an amazing bit of kit!
Keep in mind that it's basically a small computer with an aerial. Unlike the iPhone its not just a fancy phone.
Any computer needs a way for the user to tell it what to do... thats the operating system in the blackstone that's windows mobile (or winmo). You also need a user interface (ui) so you can tell it what to do. The HD uses touchflo 3d (tf3d). That's the front screen with all the tabs and clocks and stuff.
Like any computer... programs are installed to do different things. The dialers, sms, camera are all programs. This means you can install new programs to do things or overwrite programs to change what you already have.
These programs come in two main forms the cab file and the exe. The cab runs only on the phone and the exe will only run on the phone or your computer. There are lots of cabs to do lots of things. Download one that's interesting and run it.
Everything is stored in files on your blackstone. You can look through these files using file explorer... you will find that in your programs tab on tf3d. files are stored in folders. that means you can organise them the way you like.
The secret to the blackstone is to think about what you'd like to be able to do with it then search here or google to find a way... there usually is one.

Regarding Flash Games

I know this has been said many times but I really can't find a solution for this to work.
Things I have tried:
1. Connect .swf to .html, open with IE and Opera
2. AngryByte's SWF loader
3. Others I can't even remember
Softwares I have tried with these combos
1. Flash Lite
2. Adobe PPC 7 I think, not sure of the name

Any ideas? Thanks

FlashLite 3.1
Hi,
try the CAB file from the following post,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483240&highlight=flash+lite
Install it and associate .swf-files to the appzone.exe in the FlashLite directory (I used TotalCommander to do this). After that your Flash Games should run. Works fine on my HD.
ok thanks, will post again whether or not it works. Maybe i should flash my rom
yes thank you it works it works, i think i know the reason why it didn't work before. Its either i didn't read very well or no one said to associate it with appzone...i thought it will integrate with opera...
appzone located at program files > adobe > flash lite > here
next problem is looking for simple games that it cant play, lots of lags and not enough memory error...only around 1/5 of my game collections are playable
