no sound through ear speaker... hardware problem?

Hi all,
My O2 XDA Orbit (Artemis) developed this problem recently... I can't hear any sound at all through the "ear speaker" (<-- sorry, I don't know what the technical term for it is) while making or receiving a call. I can hear sound through the loudspeaker (I assume it's a different speaker) after turning on the speakerphone though.
On the face of it seems to be a hardware problem to me (maybe a loose connection?), but is there any chance it's a software problem? Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
Would appreciate the experts sharing their valuable knowledge... thanks!
I have same problem...
But no solution yet
I have similar problem but I think it's software. It only happens when I switch phone to vibrate or silent mode. I can see that both volumes (speaker and ear speaker) goes down, but I cannot volume up only ear speaker, because automatically device turns into "Sound on" mode. It's very strange because I have this "feature" only from 2 weeks. I had not this before.
Can anyone give me some solution? Thanks in advance
I have the same problem today. There is no idea on how to solve the problem? Thanks

low mic volume on asus p525

has anyone encountered this? video recording and voice recording (notes) work perfectly but whenever i make a call or someone calls me, the other party cannot hear me clearly complaining my voice sounds so distant. though i can hear them simultaneously, i have to shout all over to carry on a conversation.
played around its volume controls, activated speaker phone and tried using my headset (not bluetooth) but still the problem persists.
haven't tried upgrading radio and other rom versions though.
any help would be greatly appreciated. btw i'm using wm6 ultra lite v4 by alex. thanks.
i had the same problem..
with another WM device , motorola mpx220 , in call mic did'nt functioned well , people reported that i didn't speak loud enough. but after call ended i recorded something and was cristal clear. than i changed my radio vers and the problem dissaparead .
so as you found out , it's the radio OS . it cannot manage mic well .

My Rhodium Has Mic Bug After Update Firmware To S2 Solved.

]Is Anyone Have Same Problem?
I Use Rhodium Firmware Original 6.5 First Version It's Work Normally.
After I Flash To S2 Rom (Original HTC S2 Rom, Energy Rom S2).I Have An Bug With Microphone. My Apponent Can't Hear Any Voice. I Found That Is a Noice Cancelling bug in second microphone.
if I call and press menu->noise reduction on That's ok. but if i switch to speaker phone nothing can hear So I switch off speaker phone and The Same nothing can hear.
So I'll find another way to solve this or flash back to first version
(I' e-mail htc and they want me to sent back to htc service)
sorry for my bad english
Hope Someane Can Help . Thankyou
I Have Found Solution By Accident
If Switch To Speaker Phone while noise reduction on. The Noise Cancelling on internalspeaker system will conflict with Noise Cancelling on speakerphone To use same resource(The Second microphone. that cause microphone inaccessible) and will not working. So easy Solution is click menu and turn noise reduction off before switch to speakerphone and It Works nice Me
This is something I too experienced with the new SEA ROM. They told me they were working on the problems and suggested flashing back to the previous ROM. I am debating whether to do so or not because the mic still works well if you activate the speakerphone by turning the phone face down on a flat/level surface...
unforuntately I have no solution to offer you.

Same problem here. My voice is very muffled and to be honest I'm getting tired with having to shout down the phone. Everyone says it sounds like I'm underwater or have my hand over my mouth.
Anyone know what's caused this? On the Trinity Vengeance RaptorXL 2.5 JB ROM

I've been trying to work this out for months. There have been a LOT of posts about this on the Sony forums, but no one has a definitive fix yet. Some people have fixed theirs by turning off noise suppression. Others have fixed it by turning off vibrate when ring. Others have restored their firmware 3 or 4 times before it went back to normal.
My fix was to press the volume rocker a few times when picking up the call. This would normally work, however lately it hasn't been doing a thing.

Microphone problem when I use speaker phone - S9

Hello,
The microphone doens't work on my S9 when I use the speaker phone. The people do not hear me. I have no problem in normal call mode.
I tested to call in "safe mode" but the problem always appears.
Thank you for your help!
No idea?
Same problem here (replace xx by tt) : hxxps://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/GalaxyS/thread-id/51619/page/12
Thank you!
Up
m also having the same problem, but also While video recording
Same problem here. Only when HD calling is enabled. If you disable HD calling, the problem should go away. I'm hoping the first software update fixes it. Just to be clear the problem is that the other person cannot hear you when on speakerphone. You should be able to hear them clearly and have no idea there is a problem unless they tell you that you sound muffled or like you are underwater. Turn off HD calling on Verizon and it goes away.
Thank you for your solution. I disabled the HD calling ("4G calling" in French) and the voice can be heard now. But the quality is very very bad! It is scandalous for a phone of this price!
Is there an other solution to improve the microphone quality during a call with speakerphone?
Thank you!
HD Calling?
I have the same issue, but have no idea how to disable HD Calling ( I'm on Sprint BTW). These minor issues are ticking me off; I've already had for factory reset once due to Camera settings crashing the app.. . now this nonsense. Phone isn't even 14 days out of the box, and its DEFINITELY not an "third party-app" issue. Bad time to switch from iPhone, huh? This is unacceptable for a $300 phone, nonetheless a $1K phone.
Hello, I have the same issue, on VoIP apps like WhatsApp as well. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...rphone-loudness-clarity-t3746298#post78757253
Does anyone experience the same problem on custom ROM?

Same problem here, first on Note7, now on Note9. Disabling HD calling did not fix it for me.
any solution for it ? please post solution
I've discovered the issue is that the phone attempts to mute your microphone while the speaker is playing sounds. (If you're on the phone with someone they have background noise or are talking) and your phone's microphone attempts to lower the sensitivity so that the person whom you are speaking with doesn't hear an echo of themselves on their end. If they aren't making a sound then you can be heard normally. This is the downfall of my S9+ because the speaker and microphone are right beside each other.
