Ihaaaaaaa..finally update
2008 looks pretty ugly compared to wm6.5 stock one..
Any screens?

Here's a screenshot :

Quite the same layout, but I think it's smoother than the older one.

Too bad GUI is same..problem is that icons(folders) are too big..I really love the size of menus/files/filders in stock wm6.5 fexplore!

This is made for WM 6.1, on 6.5 half bottom bar is hidden by the shorcut (I never use it, so I remove it via options).
Very fast and smooth, opening Windows folder is faster (not a lot, but ...)

Same UI...bleh...lost a bit of intrest, but il try it anyways.

I would assume that all previous skins should work with this new version? Also, when I install it says resco Explorer 2008, not 2010(beta). Just hope I got the right version. I was wondering when there would be some updates to it, I use 2008 version exclusively and love it.

I noticed that the version number is wrong too, but it's 2010 beta. Make sure it has the new features like sending pics to social sites, and the thumbnails view, etc.

cant send multiple files in email
Anyone else have this issue? I have this issue in the old version as well as this beta. If I select several image files and then send to email nothing happens, if I send one file it opens the mail client with the file attached and everything as it should be.
Also in the photo viewer, the old version same issue with multiple files, but on the beta version of the new photo viewer selecting multiple files and sending them via email works

they still haven't fix the UI position for WM6.5.

No but you can install "PositionFix" that does the trick. Its a shame they haven't really updated much. Being Optimistic, at least I didn't have to buy new versions for 2 years.
I'm really surprised we haven't seen hardly any activity over at Resco with their Explorer app in years. 2008 is still pretty buggy and far from perfect. Perhaps all the hype about Microsoft Phone's finally having a Marketplace app to get the word out to those who otherwise probably wouldn't have found/downloaded it.

What is "position fix"?

It REALLY depends. I bought it because of the interface. I currently don't use any more functionality in it (although I could I guess) than I did in the stock explorer. I bought it because the stock buttons were too small on my Diamond 2's little screen and resco explorer was super easy to use because of it's large interface.
I recommend a scaling slider for users. That way on my D2 I could make it bigger and on my HD I could make it a little smaller and show more information. Cheers Resco!
Rob

I'm having issues with scrolling by name.
In folders with lots of files, such as /windows I get a messed up scroll list down the right hand side, it goes numerically then A C H then numbers again.

Does anyone know how to make this the default explorer? When I first downloaded this to my phone it became the default and something happened and now it isn't. Thanks for help.

Blue tool file transfer
Did anyone try out the blue tooth file transfer on a Touch Pro2 ?
I recall that resco explorer 2008 had problems detecting the blue tooth device on the touch pro 2.

I downloaded the 2010 version of Resco Explorer, tried to open it, and got an error message saying not a valid pocket PC app. Any way to make it work? Release date is 2010.

Lol, you probably downloaded the .exe file which you need to run on your PC, while having an activesync connection with your phone. You can also download .cab files which you can run on your phone to install.
BTW, the final version of Resco Explorer 2010 is also available, download the trial from Resco: http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/

Alternative midlet manager

I have been testing a different midlet manager since i really don't like how the intent one makes you go through two windows to enter any text field AND it has no way to exit the manager after you are done. You have to go into task manager to kill it and it's a huge memory hog.
I found this one on the net... its a newer version of the Esmertec manger similar to the one on tmo wm5/6.
~edit~ looks like it orginally came from xda! lol. at least we now know it works great on the 620.
Pros:
Ability to close the app when finished
Has true fullscreen without the top and bottom bars when using opera mini.
One screen text field input (opera mini).
Works great on the dash with no side effects.
With two midlet managers you can run two java apps at the same time
Cons:
The only con i see is there isn't a way to set data configuation like intent has. I have never needed this option and i heard it doesn't help with the tmo proxy anyway.
You still have to authorize use of data every time you start the app. UGH.
Installation:
Unzip, place .cab somewhere on the device.
run .cab from the phone.
Reinstall any .jar files using your new midlet manager.
it will find them on the phone for you.

Jbed works just great with system-level proxies on Pocket PC's. Haven't tested this on Smartphones; I think it'll work in there too.

Actually, you can override this. See http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...ed-includes-info-new-java-midlet-manager.html for more info.
Menneisyys: Are there any midlet managers other than IBM J9 which support JSR-75 (accessing PIM database and the File System) and JSR-82 (Java BT API & serial ports)

Awsome link. Thanks!
I now have a direct shortcut to opera mini and no more security warning
My only concern is that every shortcut will have the same icon which might get confusing. anyone know how to modify which icon it uses?
The link also suggests that this midlet manager will use whatever internet connection you have including proxies. Someone please post if they can confirm it works with tzones.
Anybody else seeing this run weird on WM6?
The midlet manager seems to be cool/different than the original one, but there's one glaring problem on my Dash when I run it: it doesn't refresh the screen in a 3-4mm bar across the bottom of the screen just above the menu bar. Is everyone else that's running this on WM5 (I'm on WM6) or is there a setting/registry entry that needs to be tweaked?
That "bar of non-updatedness" is persistent across midlets except for OperaMini Beta 4. OperaMini runs fine and refreshes that portion of the screen like a champ. But every other midlet is whacked.
Please advise . . . thanks!

I preferred this RTE, having used it briefly with the T-MO WM6. I don't like the Intent one bundled with the HTC WM6 rom.
Anyhow, I'm also getting this problem, where the screen doesn't show up right. I'm guessing this can be tweaked in a file or regkey. Any info on this problem?

This is an HTC Excalibur ROM, based on Windows Mobile 6.5. The current build number and date can be seen in the title of this thread. This will also work on the TMobile Dash (which is what's it's primarily setup for) and any other Excalibur variations.
I always build my ROMs with three main goals.
Eye candy.
Speed!
Smoothness, consistency and good esthetics.
I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go, how I'd want it. So, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications are already set, as well as a background and key shortcuts.
I usually make 2 versions of the ROM. If you don't see one in the download directory, it either means I haven't uploaded it OR I'm not making one for the current release yet.
Here are the different versions and what they mean.
"IE6" includes the new IE6 browser
"IE5" includes the older IE5 browser (less RAM being used).

Could someone help me to install messenger?

Thanks a lot!!!!

looks like you're using ookbas 96dpi cab... if you are then uninstall it
MMS
1. There is no interface to configure MMSC setting (had to do it via registry)
2. there is no default app for jpg viewing
Apart from this, seems very stable and fast.
Nice rom.
Did you take out the VPN ?
If yes: do you have the Connection Setup Tool cab ? Then the original HTC cab is too old..
the jpg association can be fixed this way:
open resco explorer, find any .jpg file, choose "action\open with", click "always use this program to open this file type" checkbox, and then choose menu/browse. from list select pimg.exe (this is picture viewer). choose select (left soft key) and done, now the jpg file is opened as usual.
Once again you cooked up a very nice rom. Thanks for the tip on how to fix the .jpg association issue. I just found it when trying different things out and someone already posted the fix for it.
Anyway it does seem that the connection setup does use older data then what I had before. It has not caused a problem yet but just thought I would mention it.
No voice dial?
Just found out, the long pressing of home key opens "All notes", and there is no way to record a voice dial for my contacts...
I understand there are people with no use for voice dial, but is there a cab out there to fix this?

Its called... Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 for smartphones. If and when you get it installed, In the voice command setup. for the voice button use App3.
stuck at 3%
what am I doing wrong? I try to load this program and it gets to 3% then tells me the file is corrupt and then the phone reboots. re-downloaded the file several times with same result
How is everyone doing with wifi in this release? In the other thread some folks mentioned that wifi wasn't working well. I haven't had a chance to install this version yet but wifi is a deal breaker for me if it does not work. Thanks.

It is working for me at work today..I don't know why it glitched out on me yesterday at home, but it completely froze my phone up and had to pull the battery. So far so good...
Microsoft Voice Command works well only for English Speakers, as it does not require voice tags for contacts.
As nearly all my contacts have foreign names, it seems i need a different app.
Tried installing Cyberon speed voice dial 1.2, but there seems to be no way to add voice tags to contacts, so it always says there are no recorded tags.
Had no problems with the WiFi on this ROM... my home WPA network works fine.
nrg, any chance of getting the IE5 version uploaded? Thanks
I have set my pictures to open with HTC Album, which works ok, but it seems to be causing some other issues with MMS messages. I try to attach a picture and it does not want to insert it correctly into the MMS message. It just shows the preview icon and not the picture itself.

[APP]New (touch friendly) resco photo viewer (BETA) wokrs great on xperia (free)

Resco has released an alpha version of their new photo viewer it is similar to the palm pre photoviewer.
lets you navigate folders, add folders to favourites, very fast and stable even in alpha stage. much much better than htc album or media panel.

Thanks. First thoughts after 5 minutes of playing - awesome! Auto rotating, nice and finger-friendly, and I've not found any bugs yet.
Works great, thanks for the tip!
Just having one slight problem though.. The app thinks I have 2 copies of the pictures in "Camera Roll", which is weird. Other than that, very smooth.
great stuff!!
if they can step it up and make the slideshow function better, its a great program!
(the random function messes up the smoothness and you cannot really slow down the speed)
Can anyone reupload ans make Screenshot?

it is not on their website anymore.. can anyone upload?
thx in advance
ok, got it :

Wonderfull app, I have the BETA version installed on my X1.
Hi All
My 2 cents worth...
The second Alpha and the current Beta seem to be quite buggy on a (unbranded) Touch Pro2. The program seems to freeze a bit and the Alpha even sent Resco Explorer into a looped error for some reason.
Obviously some functionality is still to come, but the principal is really promising. It is interesting that the first Alpha was a lot less buggy in general running, this versions seems to get stuck on some
general JPEG images in a weird pixellated screen freeze....?
The screen controls for zoom etc. leave a ghosted mark when they go off, this stays until you do the next action.
The twin rotate icons are kinda silly too...
The potential for this app is HUGE, there is still some major functionality work to do though, at least on a TP2.
It is a big leap forward and makes HTC's viewer look like a very poor cousin!
Cheers
Jabberoo
Very nice program. I found one bug. When want to upload a picture to picasa for example, I get the error: An error occured while logging to network.
Anyone else has the same problem or ppl who can help this?
Edit: Fixed the upload problem by logging in to picasa via default internet browser first.
i love the beta!!!
This program gets better and better!! I love it!!! Great and finger friendly User Interface and i just love to use the slideshow function!!! (its still a bit laggy when u choose random but i hope they will fix it soon!)

I'd pay for this when it's released as long as it's *reasonably* priced ...

THIS IS FOR OTHER PEOPLE THAT DON'T WANT TO USE THE EXE.
you can download the exe and use winzip or winrar to extract it. than you will find the cab inside the extracte folder. I also installed it from the exe. I don't think it will be ok for the developer if I upload it here. Plus I really recommend to watch the resco site since it is updated very often.
Resco has now fixed the link on their site for the CAB, so it's back up again.

well this is something that keeps me thinking. If a small developer like resco can make wonders like this photo app, resco explorer and resco contacts, why microsoft can't? why is it taking so long to have a decent ui on windows mobile when spb mobile shell is been there for years now?
And after all this comes SE (wich took my 600$) and gives us a very crappy media panel that cannot browse picture folders and takes an hour to create a music playlist among other things....why don't they fire they developers and just buy resco and spb stuff and put them on our device???
sorry for being of topic
tried it. Haven't had plenty of time toplay with it but its working nicely.
I hope they add the button to switch the picture from portrait to landscape instead of doing it through settings. But its a nice piece of software. No crash yet, surprisingly
Do you mean so you can rotate it manually? I have mine set to auto rotate (right) which is absolutely perfect - if the picture is wider than it is high it will rotate it to landscape so that the screen is filled at all times. Just out of interest, why would you want to switch from portrait to landscape manually?
just preference i guess....i got use to the old pictures and videos where i scroll through pictures in portrait and then put them landscape on slide show.
I'll just get use to resco i guess
oh and i think the toolbars is a bit weird on this, although you have ur picture on landscape, the toolbars (zoom etc) stays on portrait. It'd be nice if they change it to landscape too
Cool. Good point about the toolbar changing orientation too, they're taking suggestions over at the Resco site for the app, so maybe let them know your thoughts too.

MS Office Mobile 2010 Beta

Here is the cab for Microsoft Office 2010 Beta
I have attached the untouched cab from windows marketplace. since its not being run through marketplace, you can choose to install to device or storage card
rapidshare since i couldnt upload here for some reason (kept failing)

What's new? Any screenshots?
Brendo, I have it build-in in my two last rom releases already instead of the old one.... But I deleted Workspace....
Showtime7 - what's new? Minor improvements, Workspace included, beta labels everywhere, new shortcuts, time-bomb - expiration time - next spring (2010)
I created the proper png shortcuts, wrote necessary provxml, deleted unused dpi and setup files, workspace, deleted "beta" labels from everywhere and saved more than 5 Mb...
That's how it looks in StartMenu:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

If you install it as a cab - you will get all the names as XXXX Mobile 2010 Beta, more pixellated shortcuts, and SharePoint Workspace Mobile included. No OneNote.....

yea I haven't fooled with the new Office beta in my roms because of all that junk you removed. Sharing your efforts would really save me a lot of time doing the exact same thing.
I have a problem in my package cooked in the ROM where it will not open a new word document. I can open a existing one but not a new one. I get a error message.

EDIT: Also how did you remove the old Office Folder? I have tried everything. Several .provxml's iniflashfiles, all with no luck.
I'm going to test it more and write a review
is it possible to have 2 Exchange accounts in Outlook 2010?

I have everything sorted for folders and removed work space. I still have in the Windows Dialog frame is named with beta. Can you remove this? The main problem now is the new document in word gives a error. If someone knows how to fix this please let us know.

I dont think we can remove that, unless edit the exe itself. But i dont konw how.
Also, multiple cell selection in excel is disabled in 2010 version! Did anyone notice that?
Ok the main problem with word not working is the cab file and package if you converted from cab file is missing the iniflashfiles.txt for the Template files. There is also 2 files missing Word 97-2003 Document (.doc).dot
& Word Document (.docx).dotx. Create the proper iniflashfiles.txt for these to go to the Templates folder and Word works. I have removed Beta from all areas except window class name is still showing beta.
just to share

So this is it's own application, not an xbmc skin or something?
It would be cool if it was a Media Center 7 Skin! Of course, most would probably want something for Myth or XBMC.

it is not a media center skin
It's a skin for rainmeter, the customizable desktop widget meter
And it's not it's own program,
It's rainmeter, an opensource program to write your own widgets
I like it
will give it a try as soon i'm @ home again..
@satchef1 .. where can i get that wallpaper?
I can't remember where it came from, so I've uploaded a copy to imageshack for you (and anyone else that wants it). Enjoy

Seeing as how it was just posted on the front page I don't think your request for deletion is going anywhere fast.
And its Windows 7 Series from.. gasp .. the windows PHONE. Its just a desktop theme instead of a phone theme.
Like the background with anime girl!! Please post Giblet-dono!! ;D

It comes with the theme. But you have to download a software first to change the Start Orb (just google "Windows 7 start orb changer") & point the software to the bitmap in the zip from fediafedia
Have you try to set an other mail account than Gmail ? I don't understand how to modify the setup file to use my hotmail account.
Hmm... I must be really stupid... the 'Fail safe' installation failed for me.
I'm on Windows 7 32 bit.
I installed and ran Rainmeter, then exited.
I made sure Rainmeter\Skins folder is located in Documents.
Copied Omnimo UI\Data\Skins\WP7 to Documents\Rainmeter\Skins, and copied the Data\Themes\Omnimo folder to APPDATA\Rainmeter\Themes.
I launched Rainmeter, and the Omnimo theme is not in the list of themes, though WP7 exists in the Configs.
Any help would be appreciated, as the theme looks lush and I'd like to have a play
How to install the theme
It's much easier than the copying an pasting of files.
Since you already installed Rainmeter, you're good at this point, but if you wanna start fresh, these are the steps that I followed:
1. Download Rainmeter 1.1 from here: http://rainmeter.net/RainCMS/
in your OS version (32-bit or 64-bit)
2. Install it
3. Run it once
4. Download Omnimo UI from here: http://fediafedia.deviantart.com/art/Omnimo-UI-1-01-for-Rainmeter-158707137
5. Extract the files, open up the extracted folder, and run the Rainstaller exe
6. Select the WP7 theme in Rainmeter
7. Done.
Also, if anyone needs any help setting up icons for their programs in the WP7 programs panel, which is called the launcher in the configuration, pm me and I can guide you on how to make your own program icons and, or, I can make them for you and send them to you. so far, i was able to make the mixcraft icon and bittorrent icon seen in my screenshot. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the mail icon with hotmail like Misutsu is also working on. Cheers everyone!
How do you manage the STEAM and ZUNE modules? THX
how can i set an other e-mail account like hotmail?
this rainmeter is really cool!
but i have some issues on customizing it...
how to add simple shortcut in other "wp7" boxes (or how to create new boxes) (i'd like to make some custom shortcuts to XBMC, GAMES folder, APPS folder, MYPC and NETWORK resources, etcetera)
