Launcher issue - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

Today I tried to add a few extra buttons to my launcher tab and now it's screwed. All the button labels are hidden behind the immediate bottom row of buttons. I tried going back to the original setting, but that didn't fix it. Is there a way to get it back to the default settings or may be remove the button labels all together?
I did reset the device, but that's didn't fix the problem. For the record, I'm using NFSFAN's latest 6.5 v1.0 ROM

I can probably hard reset, but don't want to do it for this little problem. I hate going thru reinstalling apps all over again and then restoring my contacts from MyPhone. I will do that only if I want to flash a new ROM. To me it looks like a software glitch and probably there's an XML fix.

Turn off auto rotate and other manila v3 changes

Hey all. I've done a few searchs and read through a bunch of ROM threads (god, the dutty ones are full of stupid posts by stupid people), but haven't found any real answers.
How do we disable auto rotate / landscape mode in the new v3 Manila?
Is there any way of getting back the old notifications functionality where you click any of the icons along the top, and it brings up a screen with bigger icons for Notifications/Sound/Connections.
Use the old pop up menus? I am aware there's a tweak to make the 8 item menu into a 10 item. Can that hack be extended to 15 items?

If you use Dutty Extreme, then you had to enable the landscape rotate in the first place! In which case, to turn it off you just uninstall the "Dutty Enable Landscape" cab from "remove programs"

Nope, which is a real shame because the new notifications screen is USELESS! the "new text" is not the only thing that's useful to see! You can, however, disable the new notifications menu by going to the Task Manager (built into Duttys Extreme - sorry I can't help with where in the start menu it is because I've moved everything around to my own taste!) then go to Services and change the Notifications thingy to be "manual"

The thread that tells you how to get to 10 items actually meantions that these settings were just how that person had arrived at something that used the whole screen height perfectly. He explained which values change what and you should be able to adapt that to get whatever height of menu you want!
Hope that helps!

I'm using a different ROM now. I'm using the Lite one to try the speeds and the auto landscape is already cooked in. I was reading Dutty's because his ROM was the first to have it. I searched the thread where I got my ROM, but no one seems to dislike the auto rotate *shrug*. I don't mind it except in bed when I'm on my side.

Ok, I guess I'll modify the registry. Was hoping to disable it altogether as I don't find it all that pretty and it's simply bloat. On many apps, the new menus don't fit the theme at all.
Thanks for your helpful suggestions!

In that case, I suggest using AE Button to map one of the volume buttons to "rotate screen", then you can over-ride the auto-rotate on a case by case basis by rotating the screen manually. I've got it set to long press of volume up and down for rotating each way, so if something gets stuck, or as you say I'm lying down, then I can over-ride whichever way I want.

I've tried disabling the auto rotate for all programs, and while it works, it interferes with some other rotation programs. I use kaisoft's screen rotate, and when i rotate something, the orientation gets forced back to portrait a few seconds later.
I've gone back to Dutty's 1.7 ROM as it suits my needs better. I'm finding auto rotation with the new manila has not improved any more since the old gsen/gyrator days when people had tonnes of problems. It's still a hassle controlling what you want rotated.
Thanks
try this which i found somewhere in dutty's thread:
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor
Change the autorotation key to 0
this is the only thing changed, i've not tried the above reg.
it stopped the auto-rotation for me and also solved the photo orientation bug while in camera
opera will still rotate
it works!

[Q] Advanced power menu, alt usb popup, rosie remap?

Hello,
I am coming from an original DINC and I like the stock ROM for the DINC2 so far but I wanted to do some tweaks. I got circle battery and overscroll glow from the kitchen but there are a few other things I would like to know hoe to get. (I am not really hot to load a whole new ROM, I want to play with stock for now.
1) Advanced Power Menu (with hot restart etc)
2) USB Connection type screen that includes an "wired tether" option.
3) Remappable Rosie (or just a remap to internet.)

I checked it out, interesting. Why "recent apps removed from status bar"? This is nice feature, does it cause issues? Can I put it back in?

OK, You talked me into it.
Do you mind telling how re-enable the recent menu? (No full instructions needed, just what to modify. I am very comfortable in root explorer and modifying xml, files, setting permissions, etc.)

ICS Issues....

Well since I don't have enough posts it won't let me post in the Dev section...ugh....anyway, I just wiped and flashed MazWoz-EVO ICS ROM BETA 4 and had to do it a few times because it kept screwing up after I would restore my apps and data via Titanium. I figured since this was ICS and my previous was Gingerbread there were some issues so I didn't restore data this last time and thought all was well.
I can't seem to get the browser to work and I tried Chrome Beta but I already read on the forum that is not working right with this ROM so I'll try something different. But I heard the ICS Browser is really good so I want to try it! Someone else posted the same issue but no response yet:
slikgman: My browser stopped working and i don't know when and why. I keep getting the message "unfortunately, browser stopped working" i am now using Dolphin HD browser. I've tried using the reboot and ROM manager permission fix to correct the problem.

Then I just went to unlock the phone a minute ago and my background showed up but no icons and none of the home buttons did anything. I could scroll between all the home screens but they were all blank except for my background! Hmmm...maybe I tried ICS too soon...though people on the Dev forum seem to be having a lot of luck with this ROM
Can't really help, but sounds like a bad install. I've been running this ROM for 2 weeks with no issues other than what is stated in OP.

Can I just re-flash the zip or will it force me to wipe again? I just got some of my main apps up and going so I hate to wipe for the third time in the last 12 hours...lol
Also, do you know how to change the lock screen options? I use Handcent for messaging and want to swap out the standard "slide up" to go to Handcent instead of Messaging. I can't figure out how to edit this for the life of me!
Until you've gotten a good install I would always wipe a couple times per the instructions in the OP.
Also, when changing the lock screen icons there is a trick to it. It's discussed many times over in the OP.
Basically (going from memory since I am not running the rom at the moment) you go to the lockscreen changer, if you want to add weather only you use the rosie utility. Otherwise you have to use the other utility option that is there. You can add/change whatever icons you want by tapping the icon and selecting the replacement. The icons on this screen may not update. Once you close the utility the icons and shortcuts should be as you desire. If you go back in it will reset and you will have to do the process over again.
What recovery are you using?

So to change lockscreen shortcuts go to Apps -> Evervolv toolbox -> Lockscreen -> Lockscreen style -> Custom Mapping -> App shortcut -> Applications....and so on.

I was gonna say! Thanks that's exactly what I needed!
Oh FYI...I sort of figured out the browser issue. All I had to do was go into my Manage Apps, go to Browser and did a Force Stop, Clear Data, and Clear Cache and then went to try it again and it has worked fine since! Weird....
Also, does anyone know where the Car Dock settings are for ICS? I'd like to change the setting to not go into Car Dock mode when docked, since it leaves the phone lit up the whole time. Some ROMs have that option and some don't, but I'd like to know if ICS has that built in and how I get to it.
Another weird thing about this ROM....
If I long press on the home screen to add an app icon, I get the usual list (Apps, Shortcuts, Widgets and Wallpapers) plus choice for Nova Actions. I can add shortcuts and widgets just fine but when I click Apps, it will show me my list of apps but when I select an app it just opens the app! It doesn't add the icon to my home screen! Annoying even though I can still add it there by long pressing the app itself.

[Q] Help: Font size on quick settings large

HTC One M8 running ViperOneM8 4.3.0. I accidentally clicked on easy mode under home screen settings which set my font to large. Changed the font back to medium yet the font for quick settings is still ridiculously big, it has also reset all the reordering I had done with quick settings and seems to have gotten rid of my ability to customise it. Any fixes?

WTF? I've never seen that one before.
Of course, dirty flashing the ROM would fix it. But the "android is updating" on Lolly/ART takes FOREVER!
That's one solution. I'll try to recreate the problem on my device. If I can recreate it, I'll be back with another solution. Maybe. lol It might be a dirty flash for me as well.
I use Nova launcher as home screen app, just so you know. I fixed this problem by going into settings, searching home screen, and after that change your default home screen app. Go check if it worked/changed anything and now you can change it back.
This worked for me, hope it does for you guys too.

Developer Mode/Systems UI Tuner?

I need assistance with two things.
First, is there a way to remove the "Developer Mode" option from the settings menu without doing a factory reset?
Second, does anyone know how to turn on the System UI Tuner on a Verizon Note 7? I tried pulling down the notification shade and holding the gear button, but it does not work for me.
Thanks.
Monique
I don't believe there's a way to remove developer mode without doing a reset. I've never seen a device that lets you do so without a reset.
System UI Tuner is a feature only in stock Android (Nexus devices, Motorola, etc). Devices using a skin like Touchwiz, Sense, etc don't have that feature.
