Strongly thinking about buying the tilt2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I've been on some other forums wondering what phone to buy, and it seems the tilt2 is the best for me. That being said, I'm not totally sold on it. For you people who've had it long enough, would you recommend it? I'm committed to learning about the best ROM to install over it, so I'm going to try to get away from as many freezes as possible. Of course, I was recommended to *this* wonderful site!
Does anyone have a good place to start for learning on here? There's a freakton of information on here, and I have no problem reading through lots of info, but I don't know where to start!
I would be much appreciative. Thanks!

Welcome to forums
Yes!
Go and get it!!
Rhodium is the best hardware keyboard device to this date!
I´m very happy with mine

This is my 3rd HTC device. With my big fingers, a hardware keyboard is a MUST. The Tilt had a good keyboard, the Fuze had a better keyboard, the Tilt2 has the best keyboard for someone like me. And now that I have to have bifocal glasses , the larger screen is MUCH appreciated.

I say get it as well. I had the Fuze, AT&T's version of the original Touch Pro, for a week and hated it. I just got a Tilt 2 and it's a much better device. I've been using it for a few days and haven't noticed any freezing or bad lag. I've loaded a few programs and done a few registry tweaks and so far I've been very happy with the results. Slingplayer Mobile looks great on this device and I get GPS locks in seconds in both Google Maps and Bing Mobile. The touch screen is very responsive and TouchFlo 3D has really improved in a year. I noticed some complaints about the Widcomm Bluetooth stack but the phone paired right away with my Motorola headset and the handsfree system in my Acura RL and has worked flawlessly with both.
I plan on deleting as many of the stock bloatware programs as I can to free up some memory, but so far the stock AT&T ROM has been fine. The keyboard is awesome - I don't mind having the symbols in the top row as I seem to use them more when typing emails. This is a really nice device.

So what's the favorite ROM around here? Might be a week (or a few evne) before I pick this up, and I want to make sure I have my technology down so I don't keep on flashing.
I have a Motorola Q9h at the moment.... it's what got me hooked on windows mobile. I couldn't believe that I could actually edit the registry! So yeah, I'm all about tweaks, but I remember my first couple weeks and I was all over the place trying to find all the tweaks I needed.
I'm hoping to go into this next move prepared.

My advice is this - make sure you try the phone out first. Try to have a conversation in a moderately noisy environment and see if you can hear the other person, even with the volume on full.
Loud enough for you? If so, then get the phone. Everything else about it is awesome.
If not loud enough, forget it, find a different phone made by a company who doesn't assume all their customers have bionic ears. It will drive you crazy and frustrate you every phone call, and there is no fix.

The best rom for me which is closest to stock as possible is here. I currently have been running for about a month and this is stable and great. Very close to the ATT stock rom.

It's a terrific phone, I highly recommend it. The keyboard is the best I've ever used, the screen is gorgeous, and the build quality is fantastic. If you're looking to start somewhere, I recommend the following links: XDA-Developers Wiki article on the Rhodium and Flashing your first Rhodium ROM. Of all the places to start, those are probably best. The stickies at the top of the forums are also good to read, as they often contain important information.
Also, as many will tell you, there is no best ROM. I personally like EnergyROM Leo for my purposes, but other ROMs may work best for what you prefer to do with your Rhodium. I would recommend looking in peoples' signatures and seeing what ROMs people are using, or better yet, flash them all and see what works for you. Now that that's out of the way, welcome to XDA-Developers!

Perfect Dave!! Thanks a ton!
If I could rep you guys on these boards I would!

Unless he's having specific issues or a WM veteran I don't see why you'd point him to how to flash a ROM first thing... Probably let him use the device out-of-box for a bit.

The OP was interested in information concerning cooked ROMs, and where a good place to start would be. I figured that they'd want to know the process of installing one since they were inquiring about which one they should flash, and I thought that link would be a good place to start (when concerning ROMs). It's not like they have to flash one just because I linked there, and if they'd seen the instructions already there's no harm, so I thought I was being helpful by posting a useful related link. IMO there's nothing wrong with using a device out of the box (I did for ~1 year), but the OP requested more info on ROMs and I simply gave it to them.

I've had my Tilt 2, for 2 weeks.
And I LOVE IT !!!
And i'm already a flashing whore ..........

Yeah, I've been using WM for 2 years now on my motorola q9h. The tweaking aspect is the reason I *want* to stay w/WM... and I was definitely looking for exactly what dave posted!
Also, as I indicated in a few posts, I want to know as much as I can before actually getting the phone so I can flash it, tweak it, set it up how I want it, and then not touch it so that I can keep a stable environment. I don't want to lose my messages and things...

Let's leave your mom out of this
(I'm sorry, I have a chronic condition involving mom jokes)

well.... I just picked up the tilt 2 . it's pretty cool so far but I do notice all the lag people have been talking about... will prolly just take some getting used to.

My advice would be to try and get the out-of-the-box system working, install a few apps / shells / tweaks, figure out what's important to you and then flash. Pretty much any stock rom will be lag-free or lag-minimal. There's a lot of good ROMs / chefs out there. Flashing several will definitely whet your appetite.

After owning this thing for awhile.. good LORD does it freeze up a lot :/. I mean, I get used to it and "deal" with it, but it becomes painfull noticeable when my friend has his droid out.
Maybe it's time to start looking into those homebrews for better efficiency, heh.

I rarely reset my phone for freezing issues, especially on sense 2.1 ROMs. Sense 2.5 ROMs maybe once a week at most. At the end of the day to get a phone that more closely functions how you want it to, a custom ROM is the way to go.
I will say the most stable release I ever used was the stock VZW 6.1 TF3D 2.0. I could run that thing for weeks and still idle at 49%.

There's a couple of things that should be done with all new TP2's to help reduce memory hogging and help performance in general:
First, run the first two cabs below. One switches off push internet for a big resource savings. The other one switches on dynamic memory allocation, which does a much better job of freeing up memory when apps aren't using it.
Next, run the Advanced Config cab below...it's a utility that gives you access to all sorts of deeper-level settings in the phone. When you run it, navigate to the "power management" section, and make the first 7 entries there set to "enabled (advised)"
Do a soft-reset after these, and you should see a significant reduction in memory use and lock-ups.
Lastly, use the Crud Scraper attached below...copy it to your SD card and just run the .exe from there (not your PC). It allows you to uninstall a fair amount of the bloat AT&T was generous enough to include on the phone

Some pretty good advice in this thread for new users. I've been playing with WM since well before it was WM and I've had an overwhelmingly positive experience with it, that is until i moved from the kaiser to the tilt2. I was ready to chunk it and get something else but decided to flash a few roms first. Not expecting much i was surprised by the significant performance improvements and overall appeal the device gained over the stock At&t rom.
My advice, I woudl only try "fixing" the issues with teh stock rom if you are absolutley stuck with it. if you are not stuck using the AT&T rom for some reason flash one, there are several good ones out there and all of them seem to be an improvement over the At&t rom in terms of stability and performance.

Is there any stable bugfree software for 8525?

Almost everyone I see on here has some sort of a problem with their phone. White screen, wifi not working, menus not showing up and god knows what else. Is there any ROM/upgrade/software that will make this phone stable?
mine runs perfectly fine, if you are unhappy with the current wm6 selections you can always fall back on the original cingular wm5 rom...
The very nature of the 8525, and the people on this forum, is FOR FUN!
The phone is highly cusomizable, and therein lies the instability.
Stick with stock and it will run fine!
only thing that really bothers me on custel rom is the IE getting stuck and not loading any pages. Requiring soft reset other then that so far so good!
reading threads and all the issues people have im wondering what they do to make it happen.
Ive had my phone for 6 months, flashed lots of different ROMS including WM5 and WM6 and i havent had any issues that i cant fix.
Software is wrote by humans so the quick and easy answer is .. no. There will never be a stable software that will work 100% on 100% of the phones. If you use Windows then your an unpaid beta tester for Microsoft. Think of this forum as a Microsoft forum for collecting all the issues and fixes for this software as a collaboration of every forum member. Just replace the Microsoft with HTC and that is more like it.
Stable and bug-free software? You are implying that people do their job and also test software? LOL, you should be a comedian. Look how well RIM tested their software last week (took down much of the Blackberry network).
that being said, what kinds of software are you looking for? Music/Video players? Text messaging apps? Office apps? Games?
I'm shocked at a question like this from someone with 6 whole posts. Ok, lesson in sarcasm over.
Look, you read a little and saw that with every new ROM there are problems. Read a little more and you usually find the fix to that very problem. If you yourself run into a problem, then you post and state what kinda problem you're having with what, then everyone else can help you. *sigh* This forum isn't a place where somethings released and all the angels and cherubs sing with praise. You have to have the patience and drive to know you're gonna run into problems from the get-go, but decide to stick around and work through them. Good luck in your quest to find the holy grail of apps though.
well it's just that id much rather be doing smething else than fixing my phone all day long. I'm not trying to offend anyone by the way, simply frustrated at fixin one thing and having another go wrong. Im gonna keep flashing untill it works rigth and if not, Im gonna giveup and go with stock since I'm not all that knowledgeable about this anyway

Re-flashing a new ROM wont fix anything. Have you read anything here? It's not offensive, and you're not offending anyone, but the whole process of flashing a ROM and seeing what works and what doesn't is what happens when you decide to do this. Each person here that's flashed a new ROM has thier own preferences as to what they want installed with it. Some apps are buggy, some aren't. If two people with identical phones flash identical new ROM's, they still might have totally different problems stemming from issues caused by what radio version they decided to try, what apps they installed or didn't install, whether they found the CAB that fixes a known problem or not. When I flashed my 8525 I went with Black 1.2 and still use it. Why? It's fast as hell, and over the weeks following the initial flash I found all the fixes to any problems I had incurred. Now my phone is sweet...to me. I'm happy. It wasn't a one day fix-all. Takes time to get it as near perfect as possible. Still freezes when I wanna run WAD on it, but oh well. It's something I know will happen when I use it. No biggie.
You need to be patient, and if you can't then this place isn't for you. You might be happier with the stock ROM that comes with your phone. It'll be less of a headache for yourself. Good luck in whatever you decide. I hope you decide to read more and work through the bugs. IMO I think you'll be happier in the end.

If you wish to have the most stable device possible your probably best off to download the latest Cingular ROM (which is WM5), ALL the WM6 roms here are developed by the community (obviously the chefs do the real hard work but the feedback from us users helps develop them) and such are improving ALL the time. Firstly since you are not up to date with your version of Black, upgrade to the latest one...also make sure you upgrade the SPL,IPL and Radio...these can contribute to stability.
How to upgrade to Black 2.5, IPL 1.04, SPL 2.10.olipro, Radio 1.41.00.10.
IF you are still not convinced then I would downgrade to WM5.

isn't this the whole point of this forum and the wikis??
i'm not experienced as those other guys, but i'm pretty sure i've learned enough in the last 2 months to not have to sit here all day debugging, the only reason i spend 2 hours is b/c there's always better roms coming out and then u gotta customize your phone again...
Finally Usable
Have you even tried ANY WM6 ROM from this forum in comparison to the original WM5 Cingular 8525 ROM? My 8525 was nearly unusable. It locked up constantly. It had the sleep of death constantly. It was horrible! I decided to flash it with a WM6 ROM for the hell of it, and suddenly it was a useful device again. I have tried several ROMs on this forum, and all were better than the original, and all required some tweaking to work how I like it. The current big three, Black 2.5, LVSW, and CUSTEL, are all infinitely more usable out of the gate than that POS WM5 version ever was. If you want a trouble free phone, get a plain jane phone that does nothing but make phone calls. If you want a useable Hermes device, flash it with any one of these ROMS.
okay
I installed windows xp back on my pc which made things a little easier. I think my phones finaly working in order without any suprises.

Best WM6 ROM to upgrade to for someone who NEED IDEAS!! but is open to ALL opinion

Simple question I want all opinions, I just got my 2nd 8525, and this time I am gonna do it RIGHT!! (last 1 i had I was super n00b and kiled it within 48hrs I cried for a week) Anyways I just want the simplest answer or opinion I want my 8525 to last forever. SO I will flash it to the BEST WM6 ROM once and never again will I change it.
SO I am looking for just the BEST GENERAL OVERALL WM6 ROM, I am just gonna be using it as phone and only use the WiFI to connect to the NET, so the ROM I am looking for needs to be STABLE and needs to NOT ruin me or my 8525, I have been reading everyones SIGs to see what ROMs ya'll use, but I just WANT the Opinions of the regulars here
WHAT Windows Mobile 6 ROM should I upgrade to?? I will take ALL suggestions PLEASE help me, I dont wanna kill my 8525 again, I just want to flash it and leave it at that!!
THANK YOU EVERYONE
P.S I'm not a complete n00b if u read the whole thread you'll see I do my homework
the number one advise which everyone has been giving which has been pounded into everyone's mind, which you somehow manage to avoid listening to, is to first install hardspl. Hardspl is a must if you want to upgrade your rom.
as for the best rom recommendation, i will tell you this, there is no such thing as a best rom, everyone will have their own preferences, what works for one may not work for another person. just see any thread on ppl asking for best roms and you will see many many different replies.
just by the fact that you are making this post i will assume you want the easy way out, you rather have ppl do the recommendations for you than read and learn on your own, so i will give you the easy way out solution. Install the official at&t wm6 rom, and just soft reset before the customization starts and there you go, all done. its either that or return you phone and get a firefly. or a symbian phone. but i highly recommend the firefly.

Once you've got HardSPL on, it's up to you really. Some are good and some are...flaky, to be polite.
I would start with the official one from your carrier and use that for a day or two so you have a good, hopefully stable, benchmark to measure the competition up against.
Bang all your apps on it and see how it runs then try the same thing on the cooked ones.
Smiffy.
I Phrased my Subject of the Thread and my actual question WRONG, I know that ther is NO best ROM is all about what features u want, be I want the opinions of you guys, the ones that call me a n00b, I value your opinion, I did my homework, I just want to flash my 8525 ONCE to a WM6 ROM that will last me the life of the phone. Heres what I like 1. theme skins 2. stability 3. good wifi 4. and I guess I want no bloatware so it will be a FAST ROM
So basically I just want to know what you guys (the experts) can suggest to me. Just want 1 ROM that will enable me to use my 8525 to the best of its capabilities!!
thank you

i have used the offical ROM on my last 8525, and thats the one that got me i n troube and killed my 1st 8525

its hard to pick a ROM for you. Generally you can't go wrong with Farias/Dr Puttinghams/schaps to name a few. As for applications, be careful not to overload your phone with .cab's as this will slow it down.
There are a number of ROM's out there which are stripped of applications and built more for speed (though right now I'm having a complete blond moment and can't remeber one of them....doh!!!), and from there you can add to your own personal preferences.
Hey SPARTAN, I noticed u are using WM6.1, but before that what ROM did you use, and better yet what was the ROM that you used the absolute LONGEST??? or what is your personal favorite??
I'm a bit of a ROM freak, as I never keep the same ROM for any real length of time. Think I've used pretty much everything with little tweaks here and there.
Mostly used Schaps, as he tends to provide very stable ROM’s and eagerly awaiting Schaps 6.1 full version, but currently using Faria-R32 / Dr Puttingham WM6.1
Well I am close to going thru with the ROM flash, I just did my weekly REINSTALL of my operating system (been using XP lately) and I just installed the necessary drivers and programs to keep my computer from messing up or having ANY sort of error while the flash process is going on, just the very basics installed, thats really what the cause of death was for my first AT&T 8525(HERMES100) I got sloppy and was then a n00b, did a real n00bish thing and KILLED my 1st 8525. The funny thing with that was I had it for only 48hrs, and I cried for a week after. I still have it, might send it to HTC USA for repair.
But getting back to the todays upgrade, I am still in the process of deciding what ROM I will install, so I gotta ask are there ANY last recommendations on which WM6 ROM I should use?? I just wanna hear any and all last opinions
1st : Shamanix Ultimate v2 Final and 2nd : Kinokin WM6 Final.
I'm valuing ALL opinions
I know, I know this getting annoying and I keep asking dumb questions but I wanna decide, so here is the question
Which is better and/or more stable Schap's WM6 Pro 4.00 or 4.01???
and how good is Schap's WM6 Pro 4.31 cause I am almost leaning towards 4.31, but I like I have said before I want stability and something thats gonna keep my 8525 running longest and strongest
This is gonna be it NO more stupidity coming from ME, I just want last opinions on Schap's WM6 Pro 4.00 - 4.01 and 4.31
and THANK YOU everyone who took the time to help me, I know members like me get annoying, but I do my homework, I just wanted a little help
THANKS
Opinions, eh? I'm opinionated AND drunk...
Here's mine: go with 6.0 instead of 6.1.
People experienced in dealing with little niggles and issues by altering registry entries or installing lots of small cabs get on fine with 6.1, depending on which ROM of course. If you're new to upgrading then the issues that have yet to ironed out of 6.1 in such as a way as to make it a simple 1-click-to-install-and-you're-done job will probably annoy you too much. Smiffy's advice was really good mate: start with a ROM you can rely on, which basically means your own carrier's. If they haven't produced a WM6 yet (mine, OrangeUK, haven't and probably won't as they do lag rather badly in that area) then go for the most basic, cut-down and reportedly stable 6.0.
After you've got used to using your carrier's mobile you'll notice when the phone's faster or not when using different things on a new ROM. Only move up to 6.1 when you're well-used to how your phone fares with 6.0. (I'm assuming you won't install any benchmarking software. Not calling you lazy as I don't either - I just judge the 'feel' of it.)
I heartily recommend using mattk_r's Pandora Naked 6.0 - it's stable as any ROM I've ever used, including official ROMs. Give me a minute, I'l fetch the link.
Here you go.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1731669
I use a ROM based on the kitchen with a lot of my own kit thrown in. But I didn't start out like that; I started out like you, needing a few pointers, doing a lot of reading and occasionally annoying the hell out of myself.
By the way, if you're not using an SDHC card (which I assume you're not from the sounds of things) do me a favour and stick a copy of the original carrier's ROM on your SD card after renaming it HERIMG.nbh. Should you do a ChunkyMonkey Special and temporarily brick your phone (I used to do it all the time mate) it's an easy out in many cases, even if you can't boot past your bootloader.
(But take the SD card out when you flash your ROM. Although that's good practice anyway, so just do it.. )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359917&highlight=ultimate
As you can see (if you checked!) Ultimate is based on Schaps 4.31 ROM and more refined.
I'd go for LVSW.
Seriously man, you're asking the impossible. If you've read the forum so throroughly as you've claimed, you'd know that once you start, you'll not stop. Each of the ROMs, whilst good in their own way, has some kind o prolems with it that will make you change it for something else.
For example - Schaps 4.31 - an excellent rom but you have to install a fix for button 5 plus a couple of other gripes. Nothing major but enough to make me eventually keep looking once something different comes along.
You're not going to find the "one" rom.
The only place you'll find the one is in the matrix. Flashing is like the red pill. You're free of restraint but it comes at a cost.
I know I am asking for a "DREAM" I really just wanted opinions of what would be a GOOD, solid WM6 ROM, cause I am gonna flash it ONCE to the ROM I pick and that s IT, not more flashing or trying out new ROMs and this or that.
Put it this way IF you all had to CHOOSE just 1 WM6 ROM to flash and the fate of the world was riding on your choice of ROM, it had to be stable and save humanity, What ROM would that be??
thats the kinda opinions I want to help me make my choice

I know this is a hated question here....

But i would be SOO appreciative if someone knowledgeable would recommend what they think is the best ROM for my usage.
First of all, i want to say that i recognize the time and the effort that many of you put into these devices. I think it's brilliant to see what CAN be done with what used to be called a phone; but at some point it does boggle my mind a bit when i see how much resources is out there.
Don't get me wrong, I am not lazy, and i have probably spent a good 10-15 hrs reading on here (in the past few days!) and seen over 200 pages of thread, but the amount of information is INCREDIBLY overwhelming for someone who doesn't have his thumb to the ground like some of you geniuses
Right now i have installed Radio 1.54.07.00 and VP3G's 3.62.3 (Full) and things are running slower than I'd like. Not sure if i need to take some things off, or go with the light version, but i need to change something.
Basically my main interest is functionality, speed and responsiveness. I won't use most of the fancy apps out there. Really the 4 real things i want this phone to do is:
1. work well as a phone (signal and sound etc)
2. a web browser (i do a LOT of that)
3. as my GPS device - I use Garmin Mobile software with a BT reciever...also a LOT)
4. Have a good battery life, as i am always running low.
2 other apps i will also use are slingplayer mobile and MS Voice Command. Other than that, i won't use Office much or PDF's, won't stream music or anything. I just want my phone to be responsive and not drop calls and be able to manage things with the GPS software running.
If someone would suggest something (or even just name a few that are in my arena) that might work well for me i would be VERY appreciative. While i love researching what is out there, I am just not the type that will flash 5-10 ROMS to test them all and keep flashing. If i find one that is good for me i will probably stick with it for a while. So might as well get an expert oppinion on what is best for ME...
Thanks so much to all you guys for the help.
look for Schap's ROM, the best one so far is 4.31
subjective opinion
the reason the question is hated, is that it has no answer, and sparks a great deal of debate from all camps.
That said, you sound like your device usage is similar to mine. After loading up over and over again, I keep stripping my device down to get the usability I want and still have the ability to do other stuff if I choose.
First off, change your radio to 1.47.30.whatever.the.hell.it.is. Its fast, clean, good reception, and appears to have the best battery life. Noone can say for sure that the 1.5x radio roms are problematic, but there is a trend among many users. 1.47.30 is an accepted best choice for many.
Secondly- until the latest 6.1 19202 build is worked over by a few more people I trust, I'd stick with a top-notch lite ROM.
Right now I've got Faria's R-32 Lite. It's the best one I've had yet. I have enough free RAM to run Garmin, Pocket CM and other programs at the same time. A lot of free storage, and fast as the blazes. stable so far too, I was on R-32 full, but lite is probably a better choice for most users.
BE SURE TO FLASH AT&T OFFICIAL 6.0 ROM FIRST!! I don't know why or how, but it makes all the difference in the world. Not 1 single hard reset or lockup since I did this.
Only my opinion, but as valid as anyone elses, except YOURS.
Good luck,
Nanastas, thank you SO much for that info. I am going to try all of your suggestions and am currently downloading all the things i need right now. It's frustrating when you are having problems and aren't exactly sure why, and unless you have been here on these boards, you really don't know what all the latest benchmark tactics are, like flashing the official ROM first. I can't wait to try it and see if that gets me up running better than i am now. Will report back later and let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

I understand what you're asking but "which rom to get" is not appropriate, insulting to the chefs, and very subjective. This thread shall be soon be closed i'm sure, right mods??
But to answer some of your post, the face down speaker phone option you speaking of wanting to do is available as a tweak in almost all roms and is a simple registry tweak (as are all other tweaks) that you can do your self, just search for it and i'm sure you'll find it..
Misunderstanding
I didn't mean it. I dont know which is best like that have almost every option because people here tried almost every rom. I jst tried 3 roms so that is why. Like i installa new rom last night and my camera is not working on that. Unbealiveable
Not again...
There is no such "perfect ROM"!!!
This has been commented many times before.
What is perfect for me could be not for you
Try them all and decide what fits you better
Also as a general idea, enter to ROM section and see what is the one more users have installed, that would give you an idea

This.
You can look at the number of replies in the threads to get an idea which ones you might want to try. Most chefs are also courteous enough to list many of the features and tweaks of their ROMs in the first couple of posts of the thread.
If it helps, some of the more popular ROMs are Valkyrie, the various Energy ROMs, and the various Cell series ROMs.
Perfect roms don't exist. All have pros and cons, its like everyone here is saying, you just have to find one that fits you.
Anyways, on a positive note, the lock application I believe you are looking for is S2U2: http://ac-s2.com/
Take a cooking class
I too, want the PERFECT rom...but for that I will need to learn my way around the kitchen and cook one up myself. Even stock roms have glitches. The difference is that most, if not all the chefs here try to stay on top of glitches. You may need to make some "sacrifices" to what your idea of a perfect rom is, and instead have a really damned good rom. I am still running stock for warranty purposes, as my device is VERY new, that being said, I have spoken with many cooks here as well as many Rhodium "pros", and have come to the conclusion that Energy roms and JoshKoss roms are very good. I cannot tell you from personal experience about these roms, as I stated above, I do know that Chef Josh has been very kind and quick in responding to me over past inquiries.
I wish you luck. Perhaps you should instead consider reading the many extensive tutorials that explain the kitchen. This may be the only way to get YOUR perfect rom. What I may think is perfect you may think is crap. A little scenario...last night I spent HOURS making dinner, I thought it was very good, as did my kids, my husband, however, thought it was just OKAY. Same with the various roms. The chefs cannot please everyone all the time, so perhaps the only sure-fire way to get a perfect rom is to make it yourself.

In terms of stability and speed, I have yet to tweak anything to match my stock 6.1.
In terms of eye candy and usefulness, I really like the Energy Leo 6.5 w/ sense 2.5. Most of the features really reduce the time it takes to get to my favorite locations.
Please
Please stop posting in this thread so it falls off, for it is totally pointless.
P.
if you have question so where you can go?
i post that thread because i had a problem with my rom. First of all i recently bought my cellphone then i join this site, and i am learning these stuff like what is rom what is tweak and these kind of stuff. and i post this thread because it was written their discuss Q&A and this type of stuff, but if its hurt someone, i appologize about that and I will not post any thread again here

So you didn't get the answer you wanted so you are going to take your toys and go home?? No offense but your response sounded like something my 9 year old would throw at me.
Several people answered with rom possibilities, but we also said that the elusive PERFECT ROM is truly a matter of taste. Stable roms are built of off stock 6.1 or 6.5's, and 6.5.3 builds have extra bells and whistles but the consensus seems to be that they are buggier.
I myself stated Energy or JoshKoss roms a few entries above. While I have not tested them myself, the various pages and pages of reviews sound very positive. Others have made other suggestion.
You are chasing unicorns. Period. The only truly perfect rom would be one you build yourself. No chef can cater to your specific wants and needs (unless you PM them and arrange some form of compensation for their time). What I feel would be perfect may be the total opposite of what you or John Doe thinks.
I'm sorry you didn't get the answer you hoped for, and if you choose to not participate in the forums that will be your choice, and frankly, your loss. We have tried to do our best to point you in a direction that may help you. If none of the suggestions fit your needs, then learn to cook your own rom. I understand that it can be tedious to read the many pages associated with the various cooked roms, but I have managed to do that with several of them, you can too. It is the only way you will learn what works and what doesn't. We will guide you, but we won't do the work for you.
I apologize if this seems rude, but it has become quite frustrating to see yet another "perfect rom" thread.
Perfect ROM
Near as I can figure, the perfect ROM is the Apple iphone. Or at least it seems to me that post after post after post is users trying to make Windows Mobile, Look, Act, Feel, Sound like an iphone.
As a not so bright end user of many of the forum genius's works and yet, also devoted fan of Windows Mobile since early Ipaq days, I've found Energy Phoenix to be my personal favorite for hands on simplicity, ease of use and having all the basic features of my TILT 2 working. Curiously before I found that you could even have a custom ROM, I was using as a desktop background one of the pics he uses as his ROM background defaults. So that's how I was attracted to trying it. Pretty retarded huh?
I also use SBP Mobile Shell and have said to **** with POOPFLO3D. I swear I'd like to find the HTC guy who came up with that one and womp em a good one.

iPhone's OS is the perfect "ROM" for an idiot that barely knows how to turn on his/her phone.
Though I'm perpetuating this thread moving to the top of the topic, can one of the mods please close this thread. PLEASE...
CLOSE please!
Just another "what is the best ROM" thread. PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD.

Feedback on custom ROM's

Hello everyone,
I would like to give some feedback on my experience with cutstom rom's available for the rhodium.
First of all, I want to thank all people on this forum who are kindly providing their work and time. thanks to all of you guys
I was looking for a custom rom in order to get something that isn't on the last wm 6.5 official/stock rom : speed (i'm using a french/european version of the rhodium)
Because many people on many different forums told me that I had to try those custom rom's, that they are much better in pretty much each aspect, I tought "let's give it a try"
So, I came here and, since the last 2 months, I tried barely each "energy" rom's (those one's who seemed to be the most downloaded/popular) but also some other ones.
Actually, I am kinda disappointed. As a matter of fact, I think i didn't get out one single positive point from the whole experience.
For example, I can't even tell you how much business calls I missed, don't even want think about it.
ROM's I tried are slower, more bugged in a general way, and poor "amateur-style" designed (last point which is logic, but has to be said) than the last stock/original HTC wm 6.5 (european) rom
As a consequence to what, I strongly diss-recommended to any professional user to try anything here while he has to use the device to earn money : it's a very very bad idea.
For me, technically, a big part of the problem comes from rohdium's hardware which is simply to low to run wm 6.5 smoothly, no matter how you try, it's not doing it / end of the story
Now, I got back to the stock wm 6.1 rom which runs..normaly
Sometimes there's a lag in a menu, but I can go on with that..at least I'm not loosing money anymore.
Finally, I'm not saying all of this in order to start a flame war but only to spare time to the professional user who needs his rhodium to work with : if you read me, just stick to the wm 6.1 stock rom, it is definitely the best option you have

Its based on user preference. I used to like Energy, but now in my opinion its just slow, overloaded junk. I used to think the same until I found Valkyrie. From there I was a fan of that ROM. However, the chef left so now I make my own ROMs. Just to make sure, have you tried Valkyrie, WCX Iluminati, Simplicity, Eden or even mines (in my sig)? I talk to the Wild Child (the WCX chef) and I know he takes pride in his ROMs and they are rock solid. I have tried them before. Try his, try mines, and try the ones I gave you on the list. See if you like any.
If not, maybe you like Sense 2.1 ROMs with 6.1. There is chefs cooking that around here. Look around. There is way more chefs and better selection than when I first started with my Rhodium.
If you want speed and reliability from a cooked ROM, you need to try Ondraster's LBFAR ROMs. They are definitely the cleanest ones in the forum.
Yeah the reason that my dad and I use a custom rom (valkyre) is because we want to miss a lot of calls.
Come on, I use my phone for business everyday and I never have problems that you descripe. What did you expect then? That when you are messing with the software, all your problems will be solved?
I agree that some roms are more stable and faster then other roms. But that's the choice that you make when using them.
Some people are just not made for driving a car, maybe you are not made for flashing...
One last thing, change your topic title, it's not feedback it's flaming.
That's not flaming, that's giving advice. And it's (generally) good advice. Flashing ROMs is fun, tinkering with settings and mods etc. is fun. That's probably why a lot of us have stuck with WM for so long.
But my experience with flashing ROMs is pretty similar to the OPs. Fun, but ultimately most have too many bugs, quirks, and so on for people who don't use their mobile device as a toy. Also, the claims that this ROM or that ROM gives some great performance boost is mostly bunk. These speed gains are mostly imaginary.
Time after time, with every device I've had, I ultimately find that the closer to stock the phone is, the better it performs. That's not a flame on the chefs out there, I have a lot of admiration for them, and whenever I get a new phone I can't resist the urge to flash lots of ROMs and tinker, tinker, tinker. After a few months, though, when my phone becomes a tool rather than a new toy, I invariably go back to nearly stock.
On my Tilt 2, I'm running the "official" new Tilt 2 ROM (the one with Sense 2.5) and Cookies Home Tabs, and that's basically it.

comon i know you're pissed because you loosed the world cup ^^
(--> u see the difference ? that was a flame)
no seriously, don't be pissed i'm giving my point of view it's all.
besides, take it for what it is but i'm a system engineer..I think flashing a pda is counting within the things I can do
sure i didn't test them ALL..but like 20 of them.. after that, it's only a matter of time..
and this thread is because, now my estimation is that I spend enough time trying..
maybe i could point out "the professional user who doesn't want to spend 4 months searching around" ..ok ok u got it xD
but i think u got also what i meaned
