How to install the Windows Mobile 6.5 on my Orange HTC Touch2? - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi, I recently bought myself a HTC Touch2 (Mega) form an Orange Shop and its Windows Mobile 6.5 OS is modified by Orange, also changing some of its features, which is very annoying.
Oh, by the way, the most annoying thing is that my Touch2 automatically uses Orange Data Connection, though I'm connected to a WiFi network.
So, please, could you tell me how to remove the Orange modified OS, and replace it with a standard Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5?
Thanks in advance!
PS: It would be great if you also tell me where to download Windows Mobile 6.5 from?

Same issue ,long lve Orange

Hi I have the same issue ,I need the official Win6.5.Mine cracked after few days of usage.I had to hard reset the device.I made a tiket to HTC Support and asked thm about this as I see they are quite responsive currently I wait for their feedback.Flashing the device is not possible as there isno cooked ROM for it and flashing tools. And after all "Traim in Romania si asta ne ocupa tot timpul!"

Dear ****tyMF,
Here is the answer given by the HTC support on OS reinstall:
========
"as for the Rom upgrade, kindly be informed that the Rom upgrades created by HTC and posted on the HTC website are not compatible to your handset due to customizations made to the software by the network operator you will have to refer back to your network provider for any upgrades. "
So we need to wait for the flashes if they will ever become available or make a credit for a HD2 and not branded this time

HTC reply
Regarding your request, kindly be informed that you can't change the Orange Software with one from HTC as it wouldn't be compatible to your handset due to the customized software, the HTC website will reject your serial number and if you try to download it using a different serial number it will not work on your handset and void the warranty, unfortunately there could be no changing to the software that you have on the handset.
----------
This is what I got from HTC.com So, this is it? I'm the "lucky" owner of an Orange "tuned" WinMo 6.5 ROM? Hope not, because the WiFi issues drive me crazy.
Anyway I did some research and, at the moment, there's no solution for this issue.
Orange sucks!!!

Upgrading O2 XDA Exec to JasJar WWE

I have recently purchased a new O2 XDA Exec.
I would like to load up the JasJar firmware onto my XDA so that I wouldn't have any O2 software on it. As I am new to all this, would it be possible to help me work out how to do this step by step.
Thank you very much for all your help.
Tom
Why do you want to do this, the Jasjar rom is as buggy as hell.
True. I agree. I had an MDA Pro, rigged it with a Jasjar rom, and I now have an Exec, and I would be inclined to say that even the MDA Pro rom is more stable than the Jasjar one.
Well the thing is I don't really want any specific phone software on my phone, I just want windows mobile 5, but still being able to phone people and view webpages on my 3g connection. I thought that is what the jasjar rom is, is there a way of just having windows moible 5 and non of the o2 stuff at all, that inculdes the o2 icon at the top of the menu.
I'd go for corporate mode then. Just select corporate and type 0506 before the timer runs out.
that is what I have atm, however I just want the standard windows mobile 5. Also is it possible to remove the o2 logo and the o2 batty battery meter?
thanks agin.

hi
hard reset ur exec and opt for corporate mode ( pin no 0506) while customisation is going on and before timer runs out, as mentioned by another member.
then
U will be hunting down forums to get a O2 battery meter as it will remove all o2 stuff
hope it helps
Jatt
hey guys, sorry for posting so many previous replies, yer, I got it to work, see I have been using a different code, the 5210 code, and that coperate code still has all the o2 stuff however the 0506 cooperate code doens't have any of that, thanks for the help guys, very much appriciated.

P3600 will work with the WM6?

1- No
2- Don't know
:/
My best guess is to forget about wm6 being available to p3600. There's no market interest in developing wm6 to p3600. New devices will come out to replace p3600 and that devices will have wm6.
I'm not being negative about the subject, but i bet my p3600 that *if* one day wm6 will be available it's because of a cooked version.

this is what i think is a little bit strange, isnt it coming new models to replace the tytn and p3300 too? but they gets it anyway?
/Jonsson
EDIT:
isnt these two models the replacement for tytn and p3300?
# HTC P4550 (HTC Kaiser) release in June, replacement for TyTN. 400MHz Samsung processor with 3G HSDPA + HSUPA (Highspeed Uplink Packet Access), WiFi, BT, GPS, 2.8MP camera and only 18mm thick. Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
# HTC P3450 (HTC Elf) release in June. TI OMAP 850 processor. Windows Mobile 6 Professional.

I downloaded and installed WM6 for the P3600 yesterday, I used the HTC thread to get it, there are issues.
1. There seems to be an issue with data transfer, the phone now doesn't recognise when it's in an Edge, GPRS or 3G environment.
2. The phone now no longer connects to the GPS, it tries to reach it via a dial out connection, with the distant modem (obviously) not responding.
3. I'm having issues connecting wi-fi to my wireless network, it sees it, but doesn't want to connect.
4. HTC have written something to the phone that requests you input where you are, however the only options are in South east asia, I think this has something to do with the dialling out when trying to use GPS.
Besides that, it is very sexy and I haven't stopped playing with it.
I have the file available as a 61.2mb download, as this is my first post, I'm not quite sure how to upload it here, anyone who wants it can have it, just tell me how to upload it - maybe someone can fix the issues highlighted above.
where did u find it ?

maybe a stupid question about wm6

Hi,
i have an s620 from HTC itself,
so looking for WM6 , i directly called the manufacture dept. here back in belgium,
and asked info about it.
The friendly person told me there, that there is NO WM6 available on the moment,
and the update of TMOBILE is just a software fix for WM5...
He was going to mail me as soon they finished the software writing, and really release it.
So i could get the direct update from there website.
Now, does it means, that you guys all are using a different cell then me, or that you guys are using a beta WM6?
thanks for clearing out this
We actually have WM6. It is branded by T-Mobile though. You will receive HTC's branded version when they finish "writing it"
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcs620.html
thanks,
but i got mad of it, did not understand it completly,
And because tmobile buys with htc, so it is strange, why would tmobile have a fanished software before HTC:s
Anyway,
Is it safe to upgrade it with the Tmobile software?
would it be possible, to upgrade it afterwards to HTC software?
I have without any problems.

Hi how did you upgrade it? Did the installer go through by itself?
hi ,
i havent done it yet, but i downloaded an installer from the web (tmobile)
and it seems to be you install it like an other program with active sync,
so it will run it by his self,
But is possible to that if htc launches his software to update it to there, cause i dont like to have all those tmobile logos and things

Problem with Crackberry for Orange France

Hi all,
just to complie some information, as my crackberry doesn't connect to the network anymore, and that for 2 weeks.
Tried Black Shadow, Sleuth Crackberry version for OS Roms
Am on 1.40 Radio Rom
And I modified the registry to make the TyTN look like an SPV M3100
I tried BBC 3 and BBC 4
All parameters on www.blackberry.orange.fr are correct, same ID and IMEI.
So does that happen only to me or are other Orange FR users here that can't use this service anymore ?
Called also Orange, they made a test and their answer was simple "This is not Orange phone, this is not Orange program" so i.e. go **** yourself, we don't support it BUT they are selling the option for it !
If anyone has some parameters they know about so I can get back the crackberry...
Weird thing I discovered.
After an OS install, as long as I don't shut the phone down, it works...

from Memory BBC 4.0 uses GetDeviceID from the kernel so Registry changes to discuise your device as an "Orange" one wont work...

Blackberry Connect

Will Blackberry Connect work on the Touch Pro2?
I have installed version 106 and no luck as yet with t-mobile., stiil pending.
I just put the blackberry service on the phone and they said give it another day to activate the service.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
i have been stuck on this issue for a week... no luck...
wrote to htc and they came back saying that look for updates on its site... now that's a really long shot..
would suggest that you too write to them... lets put some pressure..
this is a business phone according to them... then bberry is as much important!
I havent bought this phone yet, but I would only be able to if bbconnect is working.
Could you try to change the device ID to TouchPRO in settings/system/about and change the registry HLM\System\Versions\Aku to .1.6.0
But you need to change it BEFORE you install BBConnect
Please indicate if this makes any difference, otherwise we'll need to wait for a new bbconnect version
When i had installed the software without the above settings, i had a PIN and IP address - but it would not connect.
Later on i had hard reset the phone...
now i re-installed the software with the settings u mentioned, but i do not have a PIN or IP Address and bbconnect will not register either...
could u please tell me how to un-install it safely too? as i do not want to do another hard-reset now!
(btw, i had done a hard reset on the phone earlier coz after i tried 106 and uninstalled it, i installed a previous version 100 and it hung my phone.... )

Thanks..I just unstalled and tried your settings still no connection or PIN.
am sure htc engineers visit these pages too....
hope u guys understand.. that u r touting the tp2 as a business phone.. and we need blackberry too in a business phone to complete the package....
we cannot connect to exchange alone (that incurs data charges and is not roaming friendly - especially international).. we need bberry coz that keeps us mobile from country to country that we visit...
common guys... its just a few lines of code u hv to modify... am sure...
Hi,
Have you tried this?
See WM65 solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502623
I think you have to play with the version number of your WM...
In case of WM61
I used this:
HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key, change whatever in there (like .0.0.3) to .0.4.2
Br,
Zsocee
I'm an Aussie wanting to purchase a Rhodium...
I'm upgrading from a 7100G blackberry handset. (yup a massive upgrade). Although the most critical part of my phone... (apart from making phone calls) is my blackberry push e-mail...
I can't afford to change over phones until I know that the Blackberry Connect 4.0 works. I know that HTC have a special version of the Blackberry Connect for the Diamond, the Touch Pro ect...
http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=497&news_id=61
With Windows 6.5 rumoured to be released within the next month I'm speculating that we won't see Blackberry Connect 4.0 working on the windows mobile 6.1

Me too!! Not working.
Had T-mobile and Rim on the phone together with no luck.
Well I contacted HTC to find out when it would work and this was the reply I received:
Since Windows Mobile is our platform for the HTC handsets, we would push customers to use the Microsoft exchange server.
The device comes with microsoft exchange server support and also supports IMAP and POP3 accounts.
HTC is not going to release any Blackberry connect applications and it would not up to HTC to do this. If Blackberry wants to develop an application and release it to HTC, you may need to check with RIM/BB.
RIM (is the company name)
Blackberry is the platform
Hope this information helps.
Sounds like the person I was contacted by either has no idea or there's no plan for blackberry connect to work on the touch pro 2.... Oh well looks like I'll have to purchase a storm...
Just be patient...
I'm more than sure that we will get BBC to work the same way we did it before. By manipulating the Device-ID string in the ROM (from HTC-Rhodium to whatever) BBC should recognize the device as "allowed" and it _should_ work. So all we have to do is to wait for the HardSPL-guys getting it done so that we can flash custom ROMs. Once this is done, I assume we will have BBC up and running.
Blackberry Connect.
Blackberry Connect does not work on the device, however, it seems to work on the HD.
From Sems.org
Has anyone tried this?

make sure your AKU is set to .1.6.3. I have bbc .106 working fine on my touch pro2 with this and the SetModelID solution

I am planning on upgrading from Fuze to Fortress (TP2) and want to see if this works. You need to make sure your account is provisioned for BBConnect service.
Didn't work for me even after switching system ID to identify as Raphael, on T-Mobile US.
It works fine on the Rhodium. Check out the thread entitled "blackberry connect, not yet working" It got working about halway through. I use BBC on mine but I needed to make a couple of tweaks as outlined in that thread.
Dominoid - Rhodium - Blackberry connect
very interested in your asnwer dominoid.....can you send us more specifics as to how / what / where. We are dying to get Rhodium work with BBErry Connect. Which version worked with yours?
Does anyone know the orignal AKU for the ATT Tilt2?
I hate cross posting in threads, but somehow people decided to open different threads on the same topic. (Maybe a mod can merge them into one if he reads this).
Read more for a final solution without using SetModelID and starting and stoping services each time:
