Music player problem - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I'm having a sporadic problem with the TP2's TF3D music player. Every 5-30 min. of constant play with no interaction it will suddently stop for about 20 sec., then resume playing. During that interval the entire TP2 will lock up and be unresponsive to any interaction. After that time it will continue the song normally where it left off until it stops again. Right before restarting there will be faint popping noises or the song will restart in a fragmented way, but this is very brief (about 1-2-sec. duration).
I tried using WMP (thru Start > All Applications) and I haven't had this problem during music play, but it will lock-up the device upon exit every time for the same duration. I'm using a PNY 4gb Class 4 micro-SD card for music storage. Has anyone else had this problem?
HTC support had me try turning off power-saving features, but that had no effect. Other than that they had no suggestions for a fix, but suggested I wait for WM 6.5 upgrade due "around the first of the year" to see if that corrects it.

Nobody has even a clue what may be causing this?

I get this same issue when using the TF3D Music Tab, and i have seen it on 3 different 6.5 ROMs.

Thanks for the reply. I'm running the stock VZW 6.1, so I guess I may need to get used to this when I upgrade to 6.5 soon. It's not a catastrophic issue, just irritating.

Just got my new Orbit - a few questions

Just got hold my new Orbit and I must say I'm very impressed. I've had just about every xda released over the years and I would never have dreamed of having so many features packed into such a small package a few years ago.
Anyway, I have a couple of questions which I'm hoping someone can help me with.
Something that has always bugged me about transfering files onto the device is that using USB via activesync seems about 10 times slower than using a memory card reader. Now that the memory card is not easily accessed is there a faster way to transfer files from pc to memory card? Is there a setting somewhere in Activesync to speed things up or some other faster way (bluetooth, wifi etc?)
Secondly, is there an easy way to key/screen lock this phone and/or turn the screen off while playing mp3's?
Assuming I'm playing a few mp3's in MediaPlayer or TCPMP, I want to be able to put it in my pocket right? So far the only method I've found is to close the player and hit the "lock device" on the today screen. Two problems with this though... Every time the mouse is touched (constant movment in my pocket) the backlight comes on. To then pause the music, adjust the volume or change track I have to first unlock it, reopen the player and hit the button, then go through the whole rigmarole again.
Why can't it just keep playing after switch off like the radio
bump.
Anyone?
USB transfers are always slow.
Try deltalock (freeware) for the screen problem - assign it to a key.
Mortsaver is also pretty good for the screen issue.
This may solve the screen off while playing MP3s as it has a screen off button built in
Today Player is a cool mp3 player on today screen, only takes up one line, also shows battery & memory bars when not playing music, and equaliser bars when it is, free download at http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=811

WM 6.1 - Audio Problem: All audio seems to be playing at a faster rate? Help please!

I have a Dash w/ WM 6.1 installed. Recently all of my audio is playing at a faster speed. would anyone know the cause of this? Thanks in advance.
I did have this happen from time to time under 6.1. A soft-reset usually fixed it for me.

Thats weird because I never had this happen to me. Are you guys playing the music using Windows Media.
yes, currently using Windows Media Player. Also happened when using Pocket Tunes. Soft reset has not fixed this problem
thanks for the tip though.
It happens to me after about 5 or 6 days of uptime. Of course, a soft reset fixes it as well.
I'm running Ricky's Vanilla ROM if I recall correctly and using WMP.
I never used windows media player. It was always TCPMP for me. My bug even had ringtones going like the chipmunks I'm willing to bet it has something to do with overclocking....and it does happen after a few days of uptime. It just snaps. But a soft-reset every few days is good for WM.

Pipped to the post was just about to say about oc'in, try and go back to stock value 201MHz with omap clock and see if it happens still? Also a soft reset once in a while always helps with these phones.
Thanks for everyone's replies. As I previously stated, a soft reset didn't do the trick. Fixed the problem by removing battery and sim card for about 30 seconds. And yes...i should be using an alternate media player.

Slow switching between tracks in WMP

As I'm using WM6.5 at the moment, and I want to fully use the options from the Titaniummenu, I'm forced to use WMP. I have a nice skin for the program, and everything works great.
But when I press the next or previous button, it takes about 5 to 10 seconds before the next/previous number starts. Those files are on the storage card.
When I switch between music on my device, it takes about 3-5 seconds.
I find this very annoying and want to know if I can do something about it. I've used PocketPlayer before and when I pressed next in that program, the next song started immediately or, when configured, with a nice crossfade. But there was no silent moment.
Can I speed up WMP's time to read from the storage card, and/or is it possible to have a crossfade?

I am having the same problem, about 10-15 seconds between tracks playing. I am using Arups RRE 6.5 V1 ROM on Fuze which has his own skin for WMP included.
I read on another thread that it might have something to do with the Notification Que needing to be cleaned out. Does this sound right?
Any help greatly appreciated.
I've read a couple of times on this forum that the original 8gb SD-card that comes with the Touch HD is not of a very good quality, in speed I mean.
Is that right? Would my WMP switch songs faster when I bought a new and better card?
I am using a class 6 8gb card on my Fuze and have no other slowness on my system. I also find that the delay is more prevalent when I have shuffle turned ON. I have about 6gb of music on the card. The delay is a lot less when using TF3D music instead on WMP.

Random Weird Issues?!?

Hi All,
Using official htc sea wm 6.5
1
=================
Anyone encountered this so called memory leak before??
Try this:
Lock screen by going Start (honeycomb) then lock
I noticed if i lock the screen memory uses up ALOT whole faster... within half a day it hits to 78% used... When incoming calls, screen does not show, but phone vibrates, i press the answer and phone picks up ok... other functions like sms and emails works ok, but alot slower too.
2
==============
I'm also using a mp3 ringtone though.. not such if this caused it, i have actually shorten and compressed the file already, was 7mb, drop to 3mb to 1.8mb now to 1mb...
I noticed when calls comes in, the screen does not lag that much (earlier issue does not happen in this assumption)...
3
==============
Camera application if activated in my pocket (Mis-press, i current assume so..) for unknown amount of time, i notice it and close it.. applications fail to launch properly...
Bottom menus (the phone(left), camera(right) on home screen etc) all dont work anymore.. it jus does not display out properly..
Top menus (close button etc) also does not display properly.. say i press start button (top right on home screen), the top menus bar changes to light blue, but honeycomb on main windows does not come out. No close button on top right either, but i can still close it (looks like not rendered properly of sorts)
TouchFlo3d works still though... i can rotate around phone, contact etc etc
4
==============
Memory uses up alot faster... after i soft reset the phone.. memory hovers at 50%, within an hour will go up to 61% odd.. but stabilizes... phone can be used ok..
5
==============
There are occasional random crashing of god knows what.. sometimes during sms i notice theres a popup of errors in some service of sorts... notice happens during sending sms mostly...
6
==============
Screen auto changes between landscape and portrait mode, sometimes it auto recovers, else, i need to slide out keyboard for awhile, wait for it to stablise, then close keyboard. Not sure if this is the result of taking out from the lather pouch??
Anyone noticed or encountered all these before?? HELP!! ; ;
Program installed:
==============
Google Maps (Update)
Batti
Carmin Mobile XT
Windows Live (Update)
NoPushInternet
MarketPlace
Youtube (Update)
WorldMate Live Installer
WorldMate Live
SKTools
MySoftReset
All programs have been there more or less for a few months already... The programs indicated with (update) means i updated further from default.
Is this a software thingy probably that a hard reset could solve it, or this is more like a thingy that needs to go into service center??
1. That sounds normal. I was using the official HTC WinMo 6.5 ROM a while back and I remembered that the RAM usage stabilized at around 75%. This is regardless whether you use the lockscreen or not.
2. Don't know what you mean...
3. Sounds like a one-off thing. Can you replicate the problem consistently?
4. This is normal. Goes for all WinMo devices.
5. Sounds like an issue with your carrier's network.
6. My best guess is that the magnet on the pouch is affecting the screen rotation.

Are u using any mp3 ringtone? Does it have any issues if we use a big mp3 as ringtone??
Noticed if i use a big file, when calls/sms comes in, phone will "lag" and vibrate with no display of incoming call...if you press call(pickup) button, it ok ok..

I use a 1MB mp3 file. Works fine for me. But I can see that it makes sense for there to be a lag if a large file was used. Lesson here is: try to use small sound files for performance!

Serious issues.

Hi,
So i have some serious issues with my touch pro 2 and i wanted to know if this is ''normal'' or if i should contact HTC.
I first had an Iphone 3G but i wanted a physical keyboard so i brought the touch pro 2, the first few months i just had a few issues but now it's getting really bad let me list them:
1. Random calls, this is the worst one it keeps calling the last person that calls me first i tought it was the headset because it only calls people when the headset is plugged in. Today i jammed the headset button but it keeps calling the last person that called me randomly, since 1 week it also does this without the headset connected even when the phone is just sitting on the table.
2. Keylock, i don't know if i say it right but it is when you lock your phone so you can put it in your pocket and it won't do stuff. It DOESN'T work if i lock it (i go to start press lock and than turn the screen off) it still keeps doing stuff and calling random persons. Also sometimes i can turn the volume down and up and sometimes i can't.
3. Messages, When i send a message after i pressed send 50% of the message still keeps inside the message screen (just looks like i typed a new message)
4. Media player, it doesn't work in any way,shape or form. First it work ''fine'' but now i can't get my music in it i tried multiple ways but it won't work. The worst thing is i connected it to my pc transferd some music and the freaking thing copied ALL my audio from my pc to the phone (i make movies so i have 1000's of sound effects) and those are ALL in my media player exept my music.
5. Random things to start, when i'm doing stuff in opera suddently my text inbox launches or my email for no reason.
6. The on/off/lock switch, it is waaaayyyy to responive sometimes it just turn the device on in my pocket or turns it off.
7. Digital keyboard, i can switch it to 3 different types of keyboards but it's just random if i want to switch it i just tick the button really fast and sometimes the menu will pop-up sometimes it won't. And when i selected the right keyboard it sometimes decides to switch backagain or to some other keyboard.
8. WI-FI, sometimes it will just turn on the wi-fi for no reason, when i go to settings and check if it's on it sais it isn't but it still tries to connect to a hotspot.
9. RAM memory, it's always around 80% with NO applications running when i keep this thing on for longer than 24 hours i can't play video's anymore because it doesn't has enough RAM so i have to turn it off and on again.
10. Album, for some reason it's just giving random error's while it's still working.
This are only my major problems there are alot more i've got, i really get irritated by this phone sometimes i just feel like smashing it. Especialy when it keeps calling random people non-stop for 1 minute long.
When i wanted a new phone i saw that the touch pro 2 has windows on it, now i know windows has some problems so i hoped windows mobile will just work fine but as i can see it won't.
Here is some phone info:
HTC touch pro 2
4 months old
firmware 6.5
didn't mess it up or anything everything is still original.
restored it to factory settings 3 times but it won't help with solving the problems.
Is this just common for this phone or is it just my phone? Because if it is common i will contact HTC that i want my money back because i didn't payed 700 Euro's for a phone that isn't working properly.
Never had a problem like those....
Sounds like a bad handset.
Ditto, sounds like a defective device. Time to cash in on that warranty! Nonetheless, here's a couple of comments corresponding to your issues.
1 & 2
Sounds like your device is registering phantom presses of the call start button.
3
Don't know...
4
Just use drag and drop to your microSD. Don't depend on WMP to sync.
5
Random things shouldn't happen. If it happens even after a hard reset, it's definitely defective.
6
Never heard of the standby button on the TP2 being over-sensitive.
7
To bring up the keyboard selector, you need to tap the tiny triangle on the right of the keyboard icon. Alternatively, you can long-tap on the keyboard icon.
8
Definitely weird.
9
WinMo 6.5 is a RAM hog. But nonetheless, even at 80% RAM usage, you should still have about 46MB free. That really shouldn't stop you from doing anything. Many ppl use a RAM cleaner. My personal practice is to just do a soft-reset every 2 days.

What errors are you seeing?
