A little help please?? :'S - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi.. I have an i-mate PDAL and i desparately wanna cook a ROM for it personally and then share future releases if possible.. I usually catch up pretty quick on my own and quite quick to adapt, but i'm totally stumped now and dunno what to do.. I've gone through tons of cooking threads and tutorials in xda and tried out a few kitchens myself but none of them seem to fit in properly.. I'd appreciate if someone could guide me through this.. Show me the way with the proper tools and stuff.. I'll experiment and find out.. I love messing around but its getting a bit frustrating now.. So someone out there help me Please!!!

Give yourself 2 yrs for learning(even if someone will tell you sth different).

Could Anyone help?

Hiya everybody!
I would love if someone could give me directions on where I can get good ROMs for flashing my brand new Artemis...
I'm brazilian, but I'm looking for a ROM in english with the best functions that people could get together....
I'm totally new to modding in here, tho I'm sorta pro in modding Motorola's MotoMING phone (my last one)
So if anyone could help me with directions of a newbie guide, I'd be glad....
I could write a newbie guide myself later on....when I lose the newbie status LOL
Check here for tips http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=362
There are also quite a number or ROMs in there too.
Although I would definately recommend this one.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365312 .. great speed, very light so you can add all your own apps and customize it how you like. Generally speakingm, after flashing alot of ROMs to my Orbit, I tend to stick with Meschle's ROMs and usually stick to his latest Vanilla. Although as I say there are alot of others, depends what your looking for from the ROM.
Any other questions Id be glad to help. I also have quite a collection of prgrams n customiations n stuff if your looking anything.
Thanks a lot for the hand!
It surely will come handy! I got the USPL to go over the CID locking system....
The carrier problem can be solved by the carrier itself, at least nowadays.....
To tell the truth, I'm in need of some tutorials on the best programs to have, what kind of stuff fits well in it...
I work with game design, and I'm starting to develop on python....I was wondering if there is anyway to run python programs in it too...
Last but not least, how much knowledge is necessary to work with Artemis?!?!!? LOL
Hmm unfortunately I dont do programming n such, i think you probably be better off asking those questions in the artemis developement / hacking section
If you were to develop Pocket PC applications, you may use eVC (free) or VS2005/8 (more expensive)
No idea about pythons.
How much knowledge? Probably nothing or as much as it is needed to read english. All you need is to experience and experiment to learn.
Regards,
Carty..
@fubofo
Thanks for answering again, man! I know that not everyone is a fan of programming stuff....
I got the ROM you said you were using and I'm gonna flash it today...hope it works and I don't end with a 15 hundred bucks brick....
@Carty
When I said knowledge, I ment time spent studying stuff made for it and etc...but still the ability to read english is way too complex for some people in my country....
I'll take a look at the eVC and see what can be done in it....
I have Eclipse's SDK and Visual Studio 2008 here....any of them is good for it?

hi, mates, a little help with duttys softwear please?

hi, i just got my HTC 8925 tilt. i am not hesitating to get into the modding scene. i need to how to use.. Ruu_Signed_Duttys_WM6.1_5.2.19700_Hybrid_V2_1_65.14.06_CubeV2_
with my tilt. i read some of the other post but can't seem to understand about all the flashing and stuff. i really don't wanna brick my phone, if you know what i mean. im apart of the PSP modding scene but it is nothing compared to this.
so can someone please help me out here. it would be very much appreciated.
right now i have...
Rom version - 1.62.502.0
radio version - 1.27.14.09
Thank you very much, do you need any other info?
Read the posts and use the search feature.
Really, it's not hard.
I had no idea how to flash my Kaiser with another ROM until I read up on it and yeah, it was somewhat confusing at first but after reading and re-reading things, I was able to work out what I needed to do and with what order.
Not wanting to come across as harsh but nobody is going to hold your hand through this when all the information is on this site many, many times over.

Welcome to the board. You gotta be careful of that question. You have like 30 chefs on here and you're probably going to get flamed for not researching. I guess the best way to decide which ROM is the best is to decide what you want to use your device for. Then start reading. Or you could cook your own. Before I started cooking, I used JoshKoss, CRC, Mick Smith's. They are all good. Just read my friend.

WHOA WHOA slow down you over-achiever. Take a deep breath. Now, this should be your first read. It has a BUNCH of info. The site has a WIKI also that answers a ton of stuff. Yes, I have a Yahoo ID. It's in my signature, just send an invite.
lol...yes indeed. Your question is almost begging to be flamed. Though you may also get lucky and get away with it Like the above poster said there isn't anything like a specific 'best' ROM for a phone. Its a personal preference. The wiki is an excellent place for you to get started on getting to understand everything you need to know about you phone. Use the search option for any question you have. Your bound to find relevant results on almost any type of search. Happy reading and welcome to the board.

sorry guys,, newbees fault...
after i got the first answer i have found teh WIKI.. no bad intentions here...
i just saw so many ROMS... and i hardly know what they are.. just now trying to find out.. somebody enlighten me pls..
i am reading, reading..
thanks..
Start with CRC's rom.. good, fast, stable
This cant be flamed, BTW!!!! this can be great apreciatted.
I meet many designers and has magic on their hands (and HD's full of tricks on photoshop's projects!) well if you want to start... you can talk with joshkoss, CRC, abuzalsa and many others... cause at this time they are trying to change some icons in .PNG and .ICO full glossy pics maybe 32 x 32 or less like the Notification Icons in upper bar... so talk to him about your skills maybe you can give us new Icons or something... read about the images on the ROMS... what extension, or what kind, sizes, and wheigts...
Hope you can find your work here.

Chefs School

hi
i think its a great idea to have a school for newbie people who want to learn how to cook their own ROMS, helped by the chef teachers that have a lot of expertise cooking their awesome ROMS.
so...what you think guys?
se ya.
Yeah, I still want to learn properly how to make my own roms with proper tutorials. I can't find them anywhere....

In a quick search I found this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396745 you should make an effort in searching. Additionally, you can PM chefs (ookba, stylez, Lovebabijin and many others) so they can guide you better. I'm planning to start cooking soon excalibur roms and Kaiser roms so we can keep alive these magnificient old phones. I'm still trying to manage my time so I can do this, since it requires hours and hours of cooking.

Hola,
Nice to see more Mexicans around!
perhaps if you PM your favourite Chef and ask him to teach you, would be easier than to mount a school
