hmmm thanks for those links.. i already have an idea of what i sequence ill have .. after my work ill do some editing and ill post it here..

EDITED
thanks to "iyoutouch's zip file" and "drakenkorin's help"
..dug up my cs3 photoshop and edited the nexus one boot animation..
i tried to use two time loop which contains the whole zip file from "iyoutouch" and edited delays on cs3 animation but using it with "two time forming the X animation makes a hangtime in the last 5-6 seconds of the animation"
edit it again..
now with onetime loop, onetime forming the X.. and a little snap of "staring windows from win7boot" and it worked flawlessly
for me i like it.. for others maybe not.. but i want to share it
attached is the two animation file
1. edited Nexus boot
2. default Xperia boot
..Using total commander, copy the animation file desired to the "windows directory" (OVERWRITING THE DEFAULT FILE) after doing so.. soft reset and watch the boot animation.. (ofcourse)
"now my eyes are tired"

congrats
will try when I get to work and report
Ed. nice one indeed, another loop would be fantastic though, somehow you have the feeling there should be more
hint for installation: it's a lot easier if you work with \HKLMN\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation\StartupGif and simply change it's value to the name of your file (mine was animation.gif anyway and not SEMC1904.gif), that way you can have different *.gif files in parallel under \Windows, don't need to restore and are able to switch anytime you feel like it
cheers

help with bootscreen needed

hi i need help with this gif could someone please help make it into a useable boot screen. i have spoke to the op of this gif and he is happy for a boot screen dev to take a look, and turn it into a nice boot. the op name is remenis and here is a link to the thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=891848 have fun, also remenis created the gif, here is a link to the gif http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c22/remenis9/remmys-boot.gif, realy cool
anyone, come on dev's help please to turn this into a great boot screen, lol
Gonna have a look at it, but cant promise anything since i just started 'Studying' bootanimations
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
tried to extract png from gif, created zip files but doen't work on my i9000. just got a black screen
Ask the guy who made the gif if he still has the single pictures he used. its hell lot of work to save 118 single images and color the transparent parts black again....
Edit: Just wrote a pm to him and asked for them.
here what i have but for me doesn't work
wrong image size resze them to 256*455
if it still doesnt wor post the resized pictures and ill give it another try
Edit: Ok now i saw whats wrong....
1. Start to Name them from 00001 to 00117 not _0001 to _0117.
2. Use part0 and part1 folder (i would put the android becoming green in part1 folder)
3. When making it a zip dont use compression (in 7zip u just use the store option)
Like that it should work
ok u must have compressed the pictures somehow.... Or maybe u png optimized them? I just resaved them using gimp and i got it to work but its to small right now. im gonna see how it looks if i resize it using the desc.txt file. otherwise i will have to do it with gimp again to keep the resolution.
Edit: here you go Its not an update zip u will have to push it manually to /system/media/
hope it looks like u expected it to
Used png optimizer. Zip is uncompressed... used 7zip to zip. Dunno what's wrong
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I think that was the point.... U shouldnt optimize the pictures at all. I dont understand it 100% but as far as i know it changes something with the zip compression (read it somewhere)
And btw use notepad++ to create the desc.txt file. windows notepad adds some wiered things that makes it unreadable for android. (read that somwhere on xda)

help with bootanimation!

hey guys can somebody help me with this boot animation, it works ok with the preview app. bit blocky, but upload to phone and it just show the old android screen.
I'd say correct filenames- in both part0 and part1 everything "under 10" has 1 digit less (just add 0).
On the other hand- if you want this to be displayed in loop part0 is only necessary, there's no need for part1
confused so do i need to add a extra digit to the numbers under 10?
IMO yes, you have to. I didn't come across any bootanimation which used different lenghts of filenames.
ok changed the numbers used root explorer placed it in system/customize/resource
and still get the android rather than my animation.
Shouldn't bootanimation be placed in system/media/ or data/local/?
i read that but im sure the original was from resource so i just plonked it back any way ill give that a try! cheers

[Boot Logo] My custom Galaxy S III boot logo.

I just wanted to share my first custom boot logo for anyone that would like it. I know the model number font is wrong but I could not figure out the right one to replicate it so I gave up and decided if faking a new phone I can say that Samsung tried a new look.
To use this on your phone follow these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136699
Although I had to replace the mount line with this one *in the .bat file
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 /mnt/.lfs
If you find the appropriate font (I also don't know what it is off by heart) then I think this will give it a more "official" look, and then it'll look 10 x better.
Thanks for sharing
Hopefully someone can tell me so I can make it look better.

why dont you just edit the images from the official android boot animation.?
I think it should be possible by finding the stock bootanimation .zip file under /system/media with root explorer. copy file to your desktop/laptop ect. then open en edit it with GIMP.
... hmmm i think.
let me know good luck

The boot logo is separate from the boot animation, but either way I was editing the originals. But that does not change the fact of creating a 2 when you don't know the font settings to use and don't want to brute force it.
Why don't you guys go the Apple way of doing things and have a Galaxy S 2S/2.5?
The closest font I found for you was Myriad Arabic. There's only very minor differences in the font. If you search the 'myriad' collection of fonts you may find it, or one event closer.
See attachment. All i've changed is the number 2, and i've copied the 'II' to make a 'III'.
The '2' could do with being a tiny bit bolder.

[Q] Bootanimation problem

I am trying to install a new boot aninmation. I have followed the following steps but it is still not working. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
1) Unlocked bootloader
2) Rooted
3) Flashed AOKP M3
4) Adjusted permissions of the original bootanimation.zip located in \system\media
5) Renamed the original file to bootanimationold.zip
6) Copied a new bootanimation.zip file to \system\media
7) Rebooted but I still see the AOKP unicorn boot animation.
8) Copied the new bootanimation.zip to \data\local\
9) Rebooted - Still seeing the annoying sparkly unicorn!
Any ideas?
mae sure you dont have an extra folder within your boot animation. Test it bydouble clicking the zip file. If you see another folder named boot animation.zip, its packaged wrong. All there should be inside your bootanimation.zip file is a desc.txt file and part0 or part1 folders.
Thank you very much sir.
Your fix worked. I can't believe it was something as simple as that!
Hats off the the whole XDA community for being able to resolve problems so quickly and intelligently.
Thanks, we try, lol
This is not working for me. I took a bootanimation as a template reworked it with same file names. Originally the files went from 10KB to 90KB.. Then I saw the originals were 8bit so I converted mine to 8bit thinking that was the problem. No go, just black screen. I don't have an extra folder in my zip or anything. My desc file is also unchanged and says..
720 1280 60
p 0 0 part0
Is there a cache I have to clear or something? I put it in system/media. I've used other bootanimations without issue. Is there a compression on the zip file? I put the original back in and poof it works. Makes no sense.

If you upload the file I'd be happy to check it out for you bud, no promises though!
When I get back home I will do just that, PM you with a url.. I'm stumped really, I think it might be because I used PAINT.NET. Maybe it doesn't support PNG as well as Photoshop..I wanted to finish this up, track down the original developer of the bootanimation and offer that as a fancied up bootanimation. If I can get it to work, I'll add new realistic looking gears and some light flairs.

Hey buddy,
I tried the link you sent me, there is no file there. Can you upload the file to this thread?
txt
Hi,
I kind of discovered recently that the formatting of the text file varies sometimes for reasons I have yet to unveil.
File 1
720 1280 30
p 0 0 part0
(empty line)
I modified a couple of png and it didn't work anymore, black screen...modified the txt file.
File 2
720 1280 30
(empty line)
p 0 0 part0
(empty line)
Now it works again.
Hope it helps
Hmm that would be weird because I am using the untouched desc.txt file and it doesn't have blank lines but I'll give that a try. I used Boot Animation Creator and at the end it appears to allow you to see a preview however it didn't show a preview. What a mystery.. lol
No need to worry, while I didn't figure out the problem exactly, I changed the file type to jpg and it works perfectly now. I lose some colour depth but it still retains enough quality to look good. I took bad4u6669 original creation and made it more to my liking. I hope he doesn't mind. I can't even remember where I downloaded it to be honest! Anyhow, for anyone interested, it's attached and a screenshot.
Cheers!

[MOD] Custom Boot Animations

Hi All,
These are some custom boot animations for our S6 / Edge, These are not my work
I have simply re-packaged them, with our stock Samsung boot and shutdown animations so they are ready for our devices and can be flashed via a custom recovery, or even just copied via a Root file manager.(see below) I have also made a boot sound disabler and re-enabler.
Samsung decided to use a propitiatory file format for their boot animations so we can not use standard boot animations that we would normally use......
Fortunately there are some great guys here on XDA who have made some .qmg boot animations for us
All Thanks should go to Kachowpow, he has compiled the most comprehensive list of qmg based boot animations in his Thead which is where I found most of these.
He has a S6 now as well, so we can expect to see a new thread in here soon with all the boot animations he has created and hopefully some new ones
If there one you like on there and need it packaging let me know, or even request for new sound(and maybe animations)
I will try to add more plus some images in the morning if requested, but most can be seen on the original thread and theres no point repeating them as some of them are huge(250mb+) unless someone want a flashable version like the ones attached,
If you don't have a custom recovery, simply extract:
qmg's to system\media
ogg's to system/media/audio/ui
and set the permissions
(I would back up the originals first if I were you)
SantinoInc said:
Dude I cracked the case! I finally found the actual boot animation file for my Sprint Edge:
XAS_bootsamsung.qmg
XAS_bootsamsungloop.qmg
Click to collapse
Tip: Some of these have both boot and shutdown animations integrated in them, so if you are wanting a different shutdown animation flash this second.
Also sprint normally puts a spr_ prefix before the file name so you won't be able to flash these and if copying manually put the spr_ before each qmg file name.
Due to our high res screen some animation may look distorted or pixelated, we just need to find/make some higher res ones.but some have speculated this would cause massive slowdown..
Hopefully this will just be the beginning of customizing our phones.
Any question, let me know.
As always this is dedicated to all of you and your hard work that makes this community great.
A quote from the original poster - You need to go thank him if you use any of these:
KachowPow said:
A few notes to start, there are 4 files that I tend to use within the Bootanimations which are:
1) Bootsamsung.qmg = this is the large file that holds/starts the bootanimation
2) Bootsamsungloop.qmg = this is a rather small file can either loop or end the bootanimation
3) PowerOn.ogg = this is file that plays sound during the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg.
4) Shutdown.qmg = this is a mid-size file that plays a bootanimation as the device turns off, best way to activate is to select Power-> then reboot
While shutdown.qmg’s can be customized to work on different bootanimations, I have developed some bootsamsungloop.qmg’s to function separate of the bootsamsung.qmg, this allows the ability to fully customize the bootanimations that you would prefer to view. These QMG’s are listed in a Category called Intermezzo’s as they are Interchangeable without interrupting.
A few things to keep in mind.
A custom Bootanimation works best with a custom ROM, it simply does, Stock ROMs do not finish the same, often times the System will perform an “Apps Update.”
There is usually a delay between the loading of the Bootanimation and after the Safestrap loading screen appears.
QMG files have limitations some will not be as clean as Flashable Bootanimations, while others will present better.
Bootanimation’s require the use of both bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg (using one without the other will produce undesirable results.)
Please, give credit where due, there are many Bootanimations here, if I left someone out please let me know, if you want to post my work, please extend the courtesy.
CREDITS:
I give credit to xessus for his instruction and guidance with the Samsung Theme Designer program and QMG Formatting. Also, a Special Thanks to JaeKar99 who is the "Original Bootanimation Designer" that created large portion of these bootanimations seen here, I have reformatted them for our viewing pleasure!
With so many Bootanimations it is often hard to remember all of the sources that I pulled them from, the largest source Developer that does simply incredible work and is simply known throughout the Android community for his work is JaeKarr99 which most of the Bootanimations that appear in this LiBRaRy KoLLecTioN are his, I have simply accepted the challenge of using a difficult themeing system and configured it the best I can to keep these Bootanimations in the best form possible. This was done through the guidance of xessus as his walkthroughs and many many countless hours of attempting this work is hopefully showing a positive. Other themers I will mention are Crakanug with the Black Ops II Bootanimation, CyanogenMod with CM, BKJolly, and the many others, if I fail to recognize I apologize it is not intentional nor out of disrespect, please forgive me.

Nothing needs to be done to it, all you have to do is copy over the QMG's to
system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
- shutdown.qmg
- bootsamsung.qmg
and sounds to :
system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
all boot animation are automatically stretched to fit the scrren by the device
distortion will depend on the aspect ratios, if its 16:9 it will look really nice(with most of the ones on that thread are 1080 so will be perfect)
let me know if you have any problems.

I noticed that in System/Media/ I also have:
bootsamsungmini.qmg, bootsamsungmini2.qmg, bootsamsungminiloop.qmq, bootsamsungminiloop2.qmg and BST_bootsamsung.qmg, BST_bootsamsungloop.qmg and crypt_bootsamsung.qmg, crypt_bootsamsungloop.qmg
Should I just leave those other files alone? I'm guessing that the bootsamsungmini is probably Sprint's gay bootani?
Something didn't work properly because I didn't get the Marvel bootani. Now I have just the Samsung bootanimation w/o the Sprint bootani. If I had to guess I have to delete the bootsamsungmini and samsungmini2 files?
I'm afraid to fuk with it too much because I don't have TWRP and really don't want bootloops. No time to Odin back to stock ATM.

Yes, originals had the same name. Originals I renamed to xxxxx.bak.
If you have a chance take a look in your system/media folder and look at how many qmg files have the word "boot" in them. I'm seeing a bunch.

I have quite a few too,
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
bootsamsungmini.qmg
bootsamsungmini2.qmg
bootsamsungminiloop.qmg
bootsamsungmini2loop.qmg
cryptbootsamsungloop.qmg
shutdown.qmg
shutdown.qmg.cover
have you tried another boot animation? just to make sure its not corrupt.
VMU & XAS bootsamsung are two others I have. The file I d/l wasn't corrupt because the boot down animation worked (once)
I want to wait till we have a solid root/recovery method before I get to far along with this stuff but I decided I couldn't hurt too much by renaming PowerOn.ogg to .bak and seeing if that would kick the annoying boot sound to the curb and sure enough it worked without a hitch.
Good thread btw, I'll be back along to revisit this after things get more solid with the fundamentals on this handset.

I've made the Marvel vs DC a bit quicker by removing the pauses (hope this is the one you wanted)
I get through about 13 characters now, do you want a sound file to go with this?
Anything else that needs changing?

this one has a sound file in it , but I'm not happy with the quality, (give me time to find a better one) and it a marvel rather than dc/marvel, if can think of a better one to go with the animation let me know.
Cheers
