dzo's new kernel builds - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

Hey has anyone tried out the new nbhs that dzo released today? I tried it with polymod and I get no sound. I downgraded to th nbh from last year and it worked.

This is why I recommend using the Sourceforge .nbhs as they are more likely to be stable. Dzo is also not building .nbhs for Eclair.
BT is almost fixed, trust that I will post an update when there is a kernel/NBH update that will benefit us.

Thanks for the reply Poly. The only reason I don't like to use the SF ones is there are no builds for tilt, so the keyboard is messed up.

the files ending it "TILT" are for the ....um... TILT

They aren't sorted like you'd expect so I didn't think there were tilt builds there either until yesterday.

Black Shadow doesn't work well!

Hi guys,
My friends and me tried Black Shahow( black 4.0) today. It really got big memory as previous black version, free ROM 53M and RAM 30.4M, noticed that TOTAL RAM showing near 50M instead of 48M. The HTC home looks quite ok but for the weather panel the cities are limited for selection. THE BIGGEST BUG IS that sometime it CAN'T START PROPERLY and ALWAYS HANG during the re-starting period. You may need to reset it for several time just to start the phone.
Long time expectation but still encountered major bug.
Hope JJ can solve these bugs.
Perhaps this would be better off in the official thread? There was no need to start a new one.
Anyway, just FYI:
the original one was ok but jj added a file to fix HSDPA - this cuased a comflict with the current version of the ROM.
Apparently, if you disabled HSDPA things are better.
That's a workaround until jj releases a fixed ROM a bit later on.
try turn to landscape will be better but still need wait for new one..
most issues has been already resolved on www.4winmobile.com . if you need help, go to jasjamming forum and ask there. it was his request, and he did not answering question on two places. bye.

Thanks your guy. I think it will be better to wait for new rom..
Anyone still keep the "First release version"?
My X01HT cannot wake up after slept each time...
I cant wait...
rom has been updated
Should this be a seperate thread here or just put it with the black shadow thread?

No. For you maybe, but on my 8525 it's fast as hell and haven't had ANY problems or this "hang" problem either. The ROM is awesome!
I've run the rom also...I'm having no problems either. I experienced a hang during the install but after that I've been smooth and I'm HSDPA.

I tried it but it still doesn't work, previously i installed official wm5.0 rom / qtek 2.11.255.2. It works quite well and stable. Do anyone have idea how to fix the bug?

Seriously, there is a Hermes fans chatting room. In the chatting room, it is complainted as well that they got same experience as me. There is one similarity that we performed complete flash using Qtek 2.11.255.2 before updating to Black Shadow (4.0). I am thinking if there are conflictions between Black Shadow and Qtek latest WM5.0 ROM. However, we don't experience such bugs using Black Diamond which i regarded it as more stable one and faster than Shadow and some other cooked roms. Unfortunately, i can't access 4winmobile.com and can't comment this to JJ.
Should JJ read this may he give us a solution.
Anyhow, thanks for his great works and best regards.
For anyone seeing this thread now - there is an updated rom called shadow.rar already posted on wmblack.info and it fixes the problems from this morning.

Hi, i just downloaded and tried the shadow.rar. After flashed it is still the same, can't start properly. Is it possible because of Radio? Someone with radio 1.38 told me his phone working well. By the way, i installed CE-star.

ey, works great for me with 1.38 right now...so seems your issues aren't related to Radio version.
Try without CE-star (perhaps not compatible), and post results.
I find it thoroughly ammusing! all these posts dissing the rom creator and booing if the f**k up the install or the rom isn't perfect! when will you guys realise that we are in the thick of beta land! everything is a gamble! you don't put your head in the ovan just because someone else did and got away with it!
i'm pretty new to this rom business and only tried a few. I *****ed once but then came to my stark realisation. IT'S ALWAYS A GAMBLE! read the notes that come with the rom!
these guys are clued up enough to work at M$ (or Apple. imagine mobile OSX on a tytn!).
I think you guys need to chill and take it as it comes! that's the deal!

Camera progress on kaiser - [Android] Eclair on Kaiser/Vogue/Polaris -- polymod 2.1g

I figured since the bluetooth progress thread had a great success due to many contribution, we should have a camera progress. It is one the the most important things that stopping many of us from converting to the full experience of NAND.

There is a thread titled "Lets Get the Kaiser's Camera Working in Android". The camera is working on the Kaiser/Tilt with Donut builds but not quite yet on Eclair.
maybe after poly is done with the bt..which he is..he can start on camera..
Camera work on Kaiser when android is running but ports for camera are wrong like for BT before..
donut video recording
I saw in a thread someone with a capture made with eclair in cyna rom...but in my opinion we should fix the videorecord on donut first. At least we could finish one rom once for all.
hugs

True I'm taking sources to see if possible to patch somehow from donut..but it seems that touch on too many libs. Now i know why video is not working on donut :s
is much options.. anybody can weork on his rom, or were works on one build (i think best work rom is eclair.. or not? newer is better )
Newer is slower by now
no news about the camera software development?
well..seems to me no chance to have the camera working

look if there is one thing i have learned about this community, its that even though it doesnt always look like there is progress on things like this it's happening
like with NAND we were talking about it for months and had a bounty and everything then seemingly over night Dzo had a whole method to do it.
dont get discouraged it will get fixed
i really hope so! i would like to install android on nand but without the camera it's not a good deal for me
i mean you could use one of the donut builds to NAND for now till eclairs camera is working

Not the same (kernel) driver actually (but a similar one) but it should use the same libs. Most interesting.
EDIT: Yes it works on Kaisers too... Well done!

Great! Now, we just need someone to get the rest of the stuff described in that thread fixed and we'll finally have full Eclair support.
ok i've read the vogue thread, it's amazing to know that there are some good results with the camera sw!! i hope there will be updates in the kaiser thread too!!
Well after reading about the new eclair cam libs, I just had to try them out, they work on Kallt's vanilla eclair, should be a simple drop-in replacement on all kaiser eclair builds.

Cyanogen 6.1 Question

I messaged him today on Twitter about the release date for 6.1 and he replied with..
"CM 6.1 feature freeze will be this Sunday, then it's all bug fixes and refinements. Get your patches in now"
What does feature freeze mean? What does he mean by getting your patches in?
He means they will not be adding any more features or apps. Just making what's there run as smooth as possible.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
There is still no release date for the Captivate in Canada. We've been getting dicked around by Roger's for quite a while now. Until then, work your magic guys! Thanks for the excellent job!
It sounds like this could be released very soon. Was there any mention as to what will be included with 6.1?
Thanks again!
I didn't ask him I didn't want to come off as a pest. I'm pretty sure it's a lot but I'll wait until he pours release notes on his site. Hopefully by the end if this month or the next.
Sent while sitting on the toilet.
I'm sure he gets rush requests by the boatload.
I just got the Tweet that 2.2 is officially released for the Samsung Galaxy S phones. Will this change anything for Cyanogen 6.1?
You guys should be following the nightly thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729802
There are beta builds with all the 6.1 goodies. The first post contains info about what has changed, and if you read some latest comments, you will find out more cool info about what may be coming.
Are lagfixes device specific? Why wouldn't a lagfix be included with Cyanogen?
answer
When he says there is a feature freeze it means that they will stop adding new features and begin prepping for a release. And when he said get your patches in he assumed you where one of the devs but it means that Anny bug fixes you may have made while using a nightly send them in so that the releasevwill not have those bugs.
He tweeted lastnight that he hopes to have 6.1 rc1 out Tuesday

4g must be the hardest thing ever for these guys. Impossible I guess. **** HTC is king then. They got a driver. No not for us tho. Uncle Jimmy says hello

You're using a very old kernel aren't you...
Update it please. GlemSom's site (the autobuild service) is unfortunately behind, but there's a couple of testing kernels floating around if you're brave.
With that said, I believe the "newest" on GlemSom's site has this bug fixed... AFAIK it was fixed quite a while ago!

You're mixing terms here... the kernel is different from Eclair/Froyo - those are system images, the kernel is a completely separate piece. In theory you can run these kernels on Eclair no problemo...
Heck if Eclair works for ya, use it! Pretty sure this same problem would exist in that system with these new kernels...
But perhaps not - maybe you guys are all running into that system_server bug that's causing call issues..? Not sure.
Oh, and just an FYI... the majority of the developers have GSM devices

[ROM][02/10/2012][UNOFFICIAL][NIGHTLY][CyanogenMod 7.2-RC0]

First of all I want to make some things clear:
This is my own custom build I made with the help of this great tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775505
This has nothing to do with the offical nightly build from Cyanogen and his team.
I won't provide any support for this. If you want to flash this you should know what you do. Don't ask me anything like "How do I flash this?".
This could be even more unstable then the official nightly build since I add commits that are not merged. It's a great feature preview, but I can't guarantee anything. I can't tell you if the features you see here will make it into any official build.
What is it?
Its a custom build of the latest Cyanogen sources spiced up with some not (yet?) merged patches.
I don't know how often I will make new builds, it depends if I find new things I want to try. If there are no new commits that interest me I won't make a new build.
I will only upload builds that work for me. So the basic stuff should work for everyone, if it doesn't try to wipe before flashing. If it still doesn't work use the official nightly/RC/stable/whatever... (Thats the point with "I won't provide any support").
Difference to the official CM nightly
Download
MD5
I made something like this already for the Nexus One and many people liked it.
And since we don't get official nightlys since a long time already I thougt I start making my own nightlys again.

How is it dead? 2.3 is what our phones can run most efficiently with speed and smoothness, 4.0 is still choppy and major graphical glitches. Not everyone wants an unstable rom which will not be at it's optimum until a while longer.
On the other hand, I will be trying this out and thank you for putting in your time and effort to bring us another rom to choose from

Since ICS ROMs don't have camera fully working I wouldn't consider 2.3 dead. Many people including myself require a fully functional camera.
With that said I actually couldn't get camera and gallery to work on this ROM. I flashed it on top of stable CM 7.1.0 wiping only cache and dalvik.
I'm not going to do a full wipe at this point, neither am I looking for support but thought I would mention it.

What???
You say that the version which works best on our phone is dead?
You mean 4.0 which brings us graphical glitches, no fully functional camera, bluetooth issues ... is better?
Lets talk about this in half a year again, but for now Gingerbread is the most stable and best performing version for our phones.
