What Phone Will Make You Ditch Your Touch Pro 2 For Good? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Ive Had My Touch Pro 2 For A Year And Some Change. Ive Had Some Fun Modding And Androidding It (LOL) But Its Time For Me To Move On To A Faster Phone That Will Take On WinMo 7 And Have A Business Phone On The Side. I Will Be Moving Over To The HTC Leo Forum (HTC HD 2) Next Week When T-Mobile Releases It And I Will Have A BB 9000 As My Backup. How Many Of You Are Moving On Soon? And To What Phone/PDA? Will You Keep Your Touch Pro 2 As A Backup? Yes? No? Why?

No matter what phone I move to and when, the one thing I'm going to hold on to is the keyboard from my TP2....I fully intend to frankenstein it onto any device I may use in the future
Point being....I won't be changing devices until (unless) somebody releases another WM unit with specs at least as strong as the HD2, AND a keyboard as good as the TP2's. 'Till then, I'll be happily thumb-dancing away, Rhodium-style!!

Me And My Friend Was Talking Yesterday And He Said He Wants The Touch Pro 3 To Be The HD2 Screen/Specs With The Touch Pro 2 Keyboard. I Think That Would Make Me Come Back. But The Touch Pro 2 Is Not Fast Enough For Me. I Wish It Could Be Overclocked.

HTC Desire already preordered...
I'll certainly miss the awesome hardware keyboard and tilting screen.
Problem with the TP2 is not the hardware for me. It's just WinMo. I've been on this platform ever since my Touch Dual a couple years ago and I know it's very capable. But the platform is outdated.
I hope WinMo7 turns out to be as revolutionary as M$ claims it will be. In the meantime, I'll be jumping ship to Android for now...

The Nexus One did it. I sold my X1 for a tilt2 after the t-mobile only Nexus one was announced. It took about 45 minutes for me to pick up one of the AT&T Nexus Ones after it was announced today. I've been running Android recently to see how I liked it, and it wins for me over WinMo.

I'm willing to adopt any Windows Phone Series 7, keyboard or not. I say calm down on all the phones now, b/c the whole landscape as we know it will be changed by 1/1/11..
but yeah, this elusive TP3 would be nice..since a WPS7 phone can have a keyboard as seen by the LG, hopefully they're holding off for that..

im going to consider an hd2 in the future. i was thinking to get it much sooner, but ill wait a bit for the prices to come down. the tmo version has a really low price and should lower the price of the t9193. if i do, i will miss the keyboard and the speaker. but damn, that screen. it could make an iphone user commit suicide.

That could only be proven with thorough, extensive testing. And then more testing. In fact, here, let me give you a hand with that

I am actually considering the AT&T compatible Nexus One. If it had a keyboard I wouldn't have to even think about it.

I am torn between the HD2 and the Desire. I haven't given up on WinMo yet, although I am disheartened by what I have seen of Windows Phone 7.
I also have a Toshiba TG01 which, although a flawed device, has convinced me that my next phone must have a 1GHz Snapdragon or better.

HD2
I definitely need something with a little more processor, so I've been thinking about the HD2. I will miss the keyboard some, but I've got so used to using swype, I don't think I'll miss it that much.

I really like my TP2, but I've even more so loved the Android OS - even though it doesn't totally work. If I could get an Android OS phone, with front cam, back cam, wifi, BT, FM radio w/ RDS, and a physical kb, I'd sell the TP2 in a heartbeat. I'm so over the winmo OS, and the new microsoft version doesn't look any better. Android OS please!

I love my Rhodium tooooooooo much to move onto another device.
When the time comes to renew my contract I'll probably get an HD2.
But I'll use my Rhodium as a phone. And the HD2 as a toy

i like my tp2. but as soon as us cellular gets something with more speed and not windows 7. ill be jumping ship. prob to android. ive read all the findings at mix 10 on windows 7. and i will be goin to android. windows 7 looks great. but its lockd down. and all they stopped us from doing with it. its not worth the wait. so bye bye wmo.

T-Mo HD2 next week will be replacing my TP2 which replaced my G1 which replaced my Wing.
Looks like a 6 month cycle.

I wish VZW would come out w/ the HD2...I might go with the Nexus one or this thing:
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Saygus-Vphone-phone-pa_4463.html
I also like the HTC Incredible for vzw, it looks like HD2 hardware w/ android. Most likely i'll keep the keyboard and go w/ a saygus if anything (although chances are I wont get a new phone)

I keep looking at the Droid. Figure I'll wait a few months, see what shakes out with (if) the 6.5 update, and then move over to the Droid. I'm out of contract now with Sprint, and they don't seem particularly to care if people leave.

I am getting the HD2 for sure, I will keep my TP2 just to mess around with it but I have tested the Tmo HD2 a few times at my local store and I love it. I am just watching the time tick by until next Wednesday and I will be joining you in the NRG HD2 forum

TP3 only!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have until Summer 2011 before I can upgrade my Touch Pro 2, bear in mind though I kept my Tytn II for 3 and a half years because nothing else fitted form factor wise. I like the fact my screen tilts and the keyboard is phenomenal. It may be a while after my upgrade date it may not be, not forgetting that by then WP7 Series should have fixed all the alleged release issues such as no multi-tasking and no copy and paste, no side loading 3rd party apps, no full USB connectivity, no sd card loading......the list of faults with WP7 series so far is shocking.

How long will the touch pro 2 last?

I know its a solid piece of kit but I want to know how long it will be until HTCs new Sense for WM and general WM updates bring this phone to its knees?
I have had my TP2 for 5 days or so now and I'm impressed I must say! However, the HD2 will come to Vodafone monday with its Snapdragon and I suppose what I'm really wondering is do I swap for a HD2 and live without a keyboard knowing it'l last the 2 year contract or can I sleep safe in the knowlege that our TP2's have enough power to keep us going?

Another day another development in the devices we use. The HD2 is definitely a device that everyone wants with its hardware and design. The TP2 will definitely provide all my needs and I am impressed with its design and features as well. The HD2 is the first generation and who knows whats down the pipeline. I think the TP2 will provide long lasting use for todays needs especially with cooked Roms. TP2 will hold us off to see what will come especially with WM7. Now it really comes down to cost for you on your contract or out of pocket.
I've had the Tilt, TP(fuze), Tilt2. HTC just gets better & better with build quality. Will the TP2 hold me over til the HD2 hits the street? I'm sure it will, considering at&t will TAKE FOREVER if at all to release it, and when they do, they will screw up the software with bloat causing anyone with a brain to blow it out and put in a custom rom.
When I picked mine up from the deathstar store, I said to the eager sales borg not to set it up, just make sure everything is in the box, I'll set it up later.
I took it home, unboxed it, sync'd it up and installed hard SPL, blew out the stock rom and put a custom rom on it. THEN I put the SIM card in it and set it up.

Welcome to forums
It will long till you want!
Consumism is every day faster, now any electronic device gets old from 6 months you buyed, but that depends on you and not in the market
ive been wondering this myself too actually. especially after seeing youtube vids of the hd2.. ive also updated my touch pro 2 to wm6.5 and even after tweaking it and stopping certain startup apps, etc, it still runs abit sluggish after leaving it on and using it abit.
the capacitive screen on the hd2 also makes me think i can live without the keyboard as onscreen typing will probably be decent enough.
im just not sure how much i can get for my touch pro 2 and whether it would be worth it because even though its a long contract (2years).. i can wait till the next one which will hopefully come with a decent amount of built in memory such as the 32gb nokia n97 and ipod.

current state??

hey
i think about buying a touch pro 2 and as now im running android on the htc kaiser and love it i want to have it on the touch pro 2 too
so could someone please tell me the current state?
is NAND available? so internal flash?
and are there several builds?
and how about the chiefs? are there quiet a few so the developement is fast?
and then does anyone know how the touch pro 2 is compared to the kaiser?
is it way faster and better?
thanks

as far as the phone itself, the Rhodium way better than the Kaiser(i have 2 tilts also ). it has a bigger higher quality screen. more finger friendly touch screen, etc...dont get me wrong, the Kaiser(tilt) , in my opinion, was one of the first true do it all phones. i was doing everything with that phone..lol as far as Android on Rhodium concerned, You be better off reading that link that Reefer posted for ya. I have the Tilt 2 with XDAndroid AOSP 2.1 n lovin it
thanks for the replies,
about android
it doesnot seem to be a very fast developement as we have it for the kasier.
do you have just 2 different builds?
what about a sense build? because they released a new one with rosie launcher which looks very nice.
thanks
nick
i believe theres 3 builds goin on simultaneously. the original build, then Aosp 2.1 , and the Klinux 2.1 build. of course the Rhodium isnt going to be as far along as the kaiser. the kaiser been out alot longer b4 the tilt 2. so its Android project is going to be further along in developement. the Rhodium is night and day different than the kaiser. wvga 480*800..its like Kaiser is Nintendo and Rhodium is like playstation 2 or 3..lmao
personally i would hold on to the kaiser until sound is figured out on the rhodium builds that was one of my main concerns when i bought my tilt 2 but as far as development goes Rhodium is going along rather quickly considering on how long development of 2.1 builds on kaiser with and of course Sense 2.1 is gonna be a big improvement when you do move to rhodium
okay thanks
i did buy a pt2 now but i guess then il need to stay with windows mobilke for a few month!
i just hope that the 2.1 android developements goin fast and ill do my best to help out with it!

If you were buying a new phone and wanting Android, why not buy a phone with Android on it by default??

there is a samsung with full physical keyboard and android 2.0
i thinks time to close..
if you want to buy tp2 purely for android, why the hell would not just buy android-native phone.
no matter how good all these xda builds are, they will never be as good as running a phone designed from the ground up to run android.
even if you want keyboard, there's bunch of android phone to choose from. although with swype and similar types of input, i find myself using physical keyboard less often.

Sprint SERO is the best answer to this one. The jump from $30/month to $60+ is quite a lot to swallow. I'm doing it for the EVO, but my wife just couldn't justify it and bought a TP2 today. She is still on WM, but hopes to be able to dual boot them both once the sound issue is resolved.

I'm on SERO too and upgraded to TP2, but not because of android(it wasn't released then). but again, if you want a phone to run purely android, perhaps look at diamond, i think its development state is further along than tp2.
hey,
thanks for all your advice but ive already bought the tp2...and its not just because android...i have a kaiser right now and running android on it and i just like the tp2 as the device...and not because i could run android on it...
so i just wnated to know what works and what doesnt and what build are availabe...just the current state of developement. but i think im kindof in it now and know the build availabe and as soon as we have a native bootloader for android i might run android again...but for now ill just stick with wimo
thanks

There are currently, to my knowledge, no phones that satisfy the following three requirements:
1) Keyboard (N1 doesn't have this)
2) Support for the AT&T 3G band (Everything but N1 and Backflip)
3) Non-backlevel (has to be 2.0 or greater for Android) OS release (Backflip is a cripplephone at 1.5 or 1.6)
In my case once Android for Rhodium becomes more mature, I might use it as an Android phone, but so far thanks to the lack of a phone that offers all three of my requirements above for Android, I'm sticking to the Tilt2 running a Windows Mobile EnergyROM build, which meets all three of my key requirements above.

Here's why, at least in my case... there's no phone out right now that meet ALL the following criteria:
1.) WVGA or greater (480x800)
2.) CDMA (I'm on Sprint)
3.) Native Android (2.1+)
4.) Physical Keyboard (I hate the touchscreen keyboards, always fat fingering, I swapped my diamond for a TP1 because of this)
However, I bought my TP2 originally because I was upgrading from a TP1, never expected to use android on it, but seeing that it's SO much faster than WinMo, I would much rather use it than WinMo... Not to mention unless Windows Phone 7 is some kind of revolutionary break through (which as it seems, it looks like "too little too late") they are going to lose to Android, very quickly, so I'd rather stay ahead of the curve or at least in line with it, rather than fall behind.

What Phone Next

Hi,
Not generally a Touch Pro II question.
I have had a Touch Pro II now for 15 Months and am soon due an upgrade but I can't see any phone on Orange UK that even comes close to the Touch Pro II, Well maybe except for the Desire but think I would rather stick to Windows Mobile.
My upgrade is due in September/October time so is there anything coming out during that time that can compete with the Touch Pro?
Thanks
Graham
I also wanna get a new phone, and would like to know if there's any good phones, with a qwerty keyboard, out there that can beat the TP2? Thanks.
I have a funny feeling the answer will be there isn't
I have exactly the same problem. I have had my Touch Pro 2 for a year and I am due an upgrade on the 10th of August but cant find anything that interests me enough to want to get rid of my Touch Pro 2. I have been to Bestbuy and played with the Desire which is the only thing that tickles my fancy at the moment but I dont think I can live without the hardware keyboard.
I think I am just going to switch to a sim only plan on a 30 day rolling contract and wait till the end of the year to see if HTC release an Android phone with at least a 3.7'' screen and a 5 row keyboard. I was thinking of going for the Motorola Milestone but once you,ve had a 5 row keyboard you,ll never want to go back.
i was gonna jump ship the Samsung Captivate(Galaxy S) because i saw it for free but since i didnt move FAST enough i lost my chance but then yet again id lose my unlimited internet data plan on my account which i dont want!
maybe this one
if it ever goes to production - xda-developers.com/windows-mobile/awesomeness-htc-hd-pro-concept
i'm kinda in the same boat but holding off. Think i'll be moving to android next cuz i'm not too psyched about wp7.
also all my past devices have been with a qwerty keyboard cuz i txt and email a lot but after using my gf's evo and swype, i can easily live with that.
so i guess i'm holding off till theres a gsm variant of the evo :/
I think I will be aiming for this whe its released

I think if I were to get rid of the TP2, then this is what I would get. However, with the TP2 over clocked I am completely satisified.
I think I'll wait for the new htc desire to come out or when htc makes a touch pro 3 with android on it! or maybe an iphone with a slide keyboard hmm..

This is the End (move to Android, WP7, or iphh... I can't even say it)

It is now 2nd half of 2010. Apple has released the 4th version of the iPhone. Blackberry has released it's best touch screen device to date, the BB Torch. Android is poised to move into 2nd place and can possibly become market share leader in the coming months. Windows Phone 7 is being polished and will launch within the next 2-3 months.
So where does this leave us Touch Pro 2 owners? Our processors, even when overclocked are not even close to what newer smartphones have under the hood. As much as I've enjoyed using WM 6.5 with HTC Sense and MaxManilla and Cookies HomeTab and MaxSense, I'm beginning to feel like no amount of tweaking and ROM flashing can save our devices. App support for WM 6.1 and 6.5 has come to a grinding halt in my opinion. No one can argue with the fact that all the best apps are now on iPhone and Android.
So I ask my fellow Rhodium owners... when are you going to switch, and what are you going to switch to?
im moving to android...next year when i get my upgrade...windows mobile...is dead...and it kinda hurts...because when it runs right...its so smooth, but alot of the consumer market wants apps, which WINMO does have...but we dont have the novelty apps like iphones and androids...to me android is like...iphone on steriods with a touch of windows mobile productivity
my contract will be expiring until aug of 2011 so I still got like a year to go until I can upgrade. Based on what I have seen so far, I think I will be moving to android or possibly to iphone 4 because now ATT requires everyone to get a data plan, I am possibly will move to iphone 4 becasue the price will be the same regardless it's a smartphone or iphone.
So far, I am looking at captivate, iphone 4, or xperia. I am leaning toward captivate and ihpone 4 but still have not yet made up my mind.
I like HTC's sense but to be honest, I am pretty much given up on any of the WinMo phones so it's most likely going to be either android or iphone.
The good news I guess for me is that I still got a year to go so I can wait and keep looking around and shopping.
yea, its almost the end for my Rhodium. Im looking at either the Blackberry Torch or any of the WP7 phone. Might try the torch first and let the WP7 matured out first.
But its been nice using the Rhodium, surely its not the quickest but it gets the job done. Im still gonna keep it, one of the best phone that i've use.
ill be switching to android, ive never liked the iphone OS and WP7 is just a clone
as for when, i dont know, im not under a contract ATM so ill switch whenever i see an android phone with a nice TP2-like keyboard, preferably on sprint
android on a htc device most likely. love winmo tho. if they get their act right ill remain loyal.
iphone??? lol, maybe if i get over originality.... new iphone looks like **** compared to my rhod. and i expect it will never be able to catch my attention.
unfortunately I'll stay on wm 6.5! because UpToDate (a medical reference program) which is MUST TO HAVE for me, is not released for android!
If I could pass this limitation, I'll go for android (probably galaxy s i9000) for sure.
I'm tired of changing rom, searching for tweaks, testing new home screens and themes,etc... to feel like having a 2010-11 smart phone!
I'll be staying with my Tilt2 for now. Its not even a year old, and I can't justify a switch at this time. Maybe when/if ATT offers a subsidized flagship Android handset, then I'll think of switching. Especially a device with a slider QWERTY keyboard. Or if an unlocked Android phone really piques my interest (enough to justify paying full price).
Android seems to be carrying on in the spirit of Windows Mobile, offering customization and freedom, completely in contrast to Apple's walled garden. Its still not quite as slick and streamlined as the iPhone, but I have high hopes for Android in the next year or so.
As fluid, user-friendly, and popular as the iPhone may be, I still can't stand its closed architecture. Its annoying that Steve Jobs and Apple fanboys claim the iPhone is "the best" when they are still making big updates to add features which WM has had for years. Everything from tethering to multitask, icon folders, and on previous updates: cut&paste, stereo bluetooth, and so much more. And its still outrageous to me that you can't even activate an iPhone without installing Apple's bloated software package on your home computer.
I had big expectations for the Blackberry Torch and Blackberry OS 6, since there (for some time now) has been the possibility of my work forcing me to switch to a BB device. But it appears the phone has fallen far short of RIMs promises and hype. Blackberry 6 is still years behind Android and Apple. A pretty home page, with most things underlying basically the same as the old Blackberry, and tons of other issues. RIM has proven that they are out of touch with the new smartphone landscape, and will continue to lose market share to the competition. Too bad, with their dominance in the enterprise arena, and reputation for security, they could have stayed THE major player, if they had played their cards right.
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Blackberry-Torch,review-1573.html
I've already moved on from the TP2 to the Evo, and Android, not WP7 is the real successor to WinMo. For all the tweaks I made to get my TP2 working smoothly, the Evo trumped it in almost every way out of the box. Aside from voice dial, there isn't anything from WinMo that Android doesn't do better. Much better. I had been using WinMo since the Mogul, and while Android 1.6 isn't all that hot, 2.2 with Sense is both familiar and superior.
And the hardware just smokes the TP2.
android is really catching my eye right now. i got a tilt 2 off ebay a couple of months ago and its been fun using it. i also have a pure from at&t as well and i keep switching between the 2 devices. my wife has iphone and as great as it is its not for me. i love to custimise and tweak otherwise i might as well just have a crappy flip phone if i just wanted a phone. i keep eye balling the samsung captivate but im a big htc fan. i keep seeing leaked upcoming phones from htc but not sure if when at&t will get any of those. i am intrigued with wp7 as well. both i and my wife are eligible for upgrades and i use her line to upgrade phones for me as well. i dont want to jump the gun and get the captivate but its getting very tempting to since at&t suck at getting any new smartphones.
Buying a WM Rhodium phone was a big, big mistake in my opinion. I had no idea that a phone could be so slow and unresponsive. As someone who works in manufacturing, I was shocked that a product like this would even be marketed (I consider 5 soft resets a day and slow response as "defective".) I really wish I had gotten Android instead, but I'm stuck with this phone for the next year at the very least. I got burned!
having to do 5 resets a day is defective.
I am not sure what I will be moving over to yet. Im on Sprint so I may look toward the Samsung Epic. That phone is Android but it does have an actual keyboard. I am sad too because I have become so accustomed to winmo. I love the file explorer, the freedom, the cutting and pasting. Perhaps I will wait to see what windows Phone 7 has to offer, but I think having the keyboard and the freedom to customize is most important.

You hit the nail squarely on the head here. I considered (and still am) an Android based phone but I like the "easy button" convenience of ActiveSync. I've owned all three iterations of the Blackjack and this is my first HTC product and I have to say that I am enjoying it completely. The price disparity between the Jack and the Tilt 2 was the only thing that kept me from buying it right off the bat. Having said that, some of the features that got broken with the WM6.5 update are unacceptable. Threaded messaging worked perfectly before I updated my Jack, not so much afterward, and I hope the new official ROM update for the Tilt 2 addresses this and other issues. It was a relief to find out that it was either a Microsoft or ATT software engineer that effed things up, and not a Samsung issue as I originally assumed.
I also considered the iphone, as when i got the Jack the 3GS model was coming out so I could've gotten a 3G for a song, but I feel the same about that crappy itunes garbage software. Absolute ****e, IMO. I had to fix my daughter's desktop so many times a few years back because of that crapware and I'm not willing to go there again.
I also considered a crackberry, but nothing really interested me at the time except for the Bold and that was just as expensive as the Tilt 2.

I'd say don't blame the phone, blame the software. While the Rhodium hardware may not spec out like the bleeding edge stuff that has been released in the last few months, it is more than up to the task of handling a properly polished WM6.x ROM. I really would have liked to see this phone with 6.1 on it. As I implied in my above reply, 6.1 worked pretty flawless for me but 6.5 has been just this side of an unmitigated disaster. Throw in all the bloat and crap that ATT wants to put on their WM smartphones and you have what we got.
Again, my hope is that the new official ROM update will address all the issues that WM6.5 created.
I have had no problems and very rarely have to reset..
I'll be waiting until a good phone has all the hardware features I like in the TP2, either android or WM7 I don't care, I'll judge in a year.
The TP2 was the best phone out for me needs when I got it, and it'll be a year or so probably before something comes out that'll make me switch. It does all I want, and more, now. Higher res and faster speed would be nice, HDMI out and a few other hardware goodies would rock, but it isn't required.
I went thru the gambit of HTC/at&t phones over the last few years. I still even have a 3125 & 8525 in my desk. I got the first Tilt, and after I got it tweaked the way I wanted it, (eventually stayed with stock rom too), it has been a work horse for almost THREE YEARS! The last two years I had it, never had to hard reset it!!!
Now I have the Tilt2...all I can say is.... WOW... I am looking forward to the next three years.
One thing folks should understand about WinMo.. or Windows in general. A lot of the 'bugginess' can be attributed to third party apps, just like your desk/laptop.
I am worried about WinMo 7. I hear the new platforms are essentially a
Zune versus a pocket pc. My phone needs to be an extension of my desk/laptops, can a Zune platform fill the bill?
going down with the ship, why switch when my phone does everything I need and want it to.
I think I could well be going to Android as I'm more swayed by the full qwerty keyboard than an operating system.
The new HTC G2 or Vision will be the way forward and I suspect I'll just take whatever OS is offered with it.
Even got a gmail account set up in readiness for the switch. It's a shame as I have no issues with WinMo but if they cannot provide the correct hardware then I'm off.
the touch pro 2 has been the best phone i've ever had. yes it was glitchy at the beginning and it froze daily, but with the right setup, its perfect. Im running the Energy Rom right now, with Spb Mobile Shell 3.5 and a custom Spb skin. Its so customizable its sickening. I've had it in this configuration for the last 3 months, and I have not had to reset my phone for that whole period of time. on top of that, my battery life is longer. I hope they will make an updated version of the Rhodium with the slide out keyboard. I really don't want to upgrade to a phone without it.

working in manufacturing, you shoudl have known to try out any technology before you buy it. i have tilt2 and i mess with it everyday, flashing and tweaking, and within the year or so ive had the fone ive only had 2 times where ive had to SOFT reset. never had a problem that needed a hard reset.
even now i have it oc'd at 768 and no freezing never lags, no errors.
a lot of times its just that you need to match the technology u buy. some people are windows peeps, some are google peeps, some are apple peeps.
if your constantly getting lags, needing to reset... blah blah blah... then u probably need a more simple form of tech like iphone.
if you like to tweak and customize (and know a lil something about computers) go for windows.
if you want a phone thats psp/computer, go with android.
you want a weak version of psp, go with iphone.

I am going to stay with the Tilt2 until sometime next year. I really do not care about the speed of the processor or much else as long as the phone does what I want it to do. However, support of applications is the main issue. More and more applications are getting released for the iPhone and Android only and there are a number I would like to have. MS has abandoned WinMo (which makes little sense to me, but anyway), so moving to a new platform is essential to obtain newer applications.
So, the choice is the iPhone or Android. I dislike Apple's closed system so this brings us to Android. Unfortunately, there is no Android device that I find compelling right now. What I want is an HTC device running Sense with a keyboard and at least a 4'' screen. Hopefully. such device would be released soon (it has to be GSM because of travel requirements).

HTC Rhodium still useful in an iPhone/WP7/Android era.

I still love my Cricket flashed TP2 (Sprint) and enjoy customizing it in fact. Very flexible like the HD2 and the keyboard is still one of the best in the industry. Anyone still using theirs today?

What's an iPhone?
Hell yeah I still use mine. It still does everything I want to do and its not the run of the mill phones of today.
Next up is taking it to europe for a couple weeks, swapping the sim card and still enjoying it there...
I would still use mine if I did not switch to Verizon.
Sent from my DROID X2
I still have mine too. I had to turn off that stupid slow Sence, but with Titanium is Rhodium fast and working great. And it does all what I need My lovely Rhodium.

I do! =)

This piece of Krapp Fone (yes with a K), its freakin slooooooooooooooowwwww. I use to think iphone 3G's was inferior back in 09. I still have my rhodium I honestly would love to use my sledge hammer, and cripple the dam thing!!! but if i can make $50 bucks of it, I'll be happier. couldn't stand memory leak issue with Windows mobile. Gladly, I am in the Samsung Galaxy S2 scene now, where there is not such thing as slowdowns.
HTC Rhodium, I REGRET YOU and DENOUNCE that you were ever my phone!
Same here. I still use my TP2 like it was brand new. I'm not parting with it until it dies. It does everything I need it to, and does it fairly quickly. Sure I can get an Arrive or a droid phone with a Ghz CPU, but I'd lose all the tweaks and programs I have amassed over the last year and a half. Screw that. Co0kies Home Tab still rules the roost round here!

A month ago I would've agreed with you. But now that I finally got an Android native phone, I could never go back. You think there a lot of customizations with winmo and CHT, take that times 100 and you have Android. The things you can do is off the charts. You'll know what I mean when you finally move on from your TP2.

i totally agree with you. this phone has caused me nothing but trouble in the longrun. it was quite good for a short period of time. ive just got myself a samsung galaxy s2 myself and there is no effin way im going back to tp2 ever. this phone i have now is crazily fast, there's truly no competition whatsoever (even an older android phone would beat the tp2).

I agree. Many think the Rhodium and winmo is the end all be all of customizability... but things have changed.

Had tp2 for two years. Beautiful phone aesthecally unbeatable keyboard. The mistake I made was upgrading to Sense. The phone was never designed to run sense....slowed it down completely. Also it began to have random shut downs and crashes with Sense. It was irritating to have to install apps like Clean Ram in order to rescue my phone from crashing and keep it workable each day.
The straw that broke the camels back was when youtube hq video support for tp2 stopped.....it finally hit home that I had an aging phone that was unable to keep up with the times....a phone that youtube and adobe flash were now overlooking. Windows mobile had had its day it seemed. As such, it was time to put my tp2 in my 'museum' drawer along with my htc diamond and old ipaq.
I switched to a phone that was ahead of the times and might provide at least two years of futureproof peace of mind due to its specs...samsung gs2. Android is the future imho. I still occasionally use my htc hero without any problems - bar the smallish screen...

Yup, with Android you get the customization options, and you also get an OS that actually works and has a ton of good software. If you need to stay with WinMo for personal reasons, then its tolerable. But if you compare Winmo to Android side to side, there is no contest.
I believe you. I've been using the Tilt 2 for a long time now, and I was waiting for DFT's Android NAND to be out but I gave up waiting last week. It's been lying around for a week without a sim card in it and still has battery life left. It's been running for a week on standby without charging. I moved to the Galaxy S, but I still love the TP2. Great phone it is. I will use it to test if they do come out with a proper android ROM for it.
Still using mine. All love love with it.
Im still using mine. My wife upgraded from the touch pro to the arrive running windows 7. It is nice but I still prefer 6.5. I would like a better camera and some sort of d pad to allow one hand use but still have not found a replacement. The xperia x2 looked perfect but it is not available in the US and I would have to switch to ATaT because it is GSM. I love the tp2 and it does almost everything I want. I use it with the stock rom and spb mobile shell. It allows me to customize the phone exactly how I like it.
My precious....
After running an old Kaiser with a very stable ROM for the last 2 years I "upgraded" my equipment with tp2, which I ever wanted to have. Must say, the Keyboard is great, don't wanna miss it any more! But WM 6.5 is a hard experience...
Till now I've fought over 3 months with this phone! It's such a brilliant concept of a phone, why is it so hard to get it stable??? I think I've tried out nearly any german ROM out in the field, including Energy Rom and the original one from HTC, not a single one was without a bug! The only thing I want it is to be stable, smooth and, well, just working!
Now I stay with the original Stock ROM, by now it seems to be stable, but memory using is a monster, and the phone slows down over the day.
And, after all, I also think of leaving good old WM and change to Androiid, but all I can read is that syncing Android with all my Data in Outlook via USB is also such a tricky job like using ActiveSync...
Has anyone here experience in that?
I have mine for now a year. I dont understand why HTC started to screw their Touch and Type phones. If you look in past, if you buyed a HTC with full qwerty, you became much faster phone than only Touch. Last better Touch and Type was Touch pro. If you compare witch Diamond, it had more Ram. From this point the Touch and type had worse hardware. I dont understand why they made Touch pro 2 with hardware from Touch pro. It was old and in that year came HTC touch HD2 with Snapdragon. So why Touch pro 2 didnt became also? This is only thing what i miss on this phone.
But... i had now for 2 days HTC Desire. I know, it had overheating issue, but i made some tricks to made it working I tryed and i must say, AMOLED, camera, speed, android was the hammer. There are only 2 reason i wouldnt buy one for common use. Absent full qwerty and my TP2 still do all i want. I would miss my 5 row keyboard :-D So still, TP2 is still numero uno for me ;-)
