I am really confused, .. I thought there are only two colors for the Desire, Silver and "Urban" Brown.

The device color looks pitch black to me Is it really black or am I color blind?
P.S. I know that color-blind only effects Red, Green and Blue colors, .. right? Lol

Just seen a "black" version at E2save. In the picture on that site, even the band around the edge of the screen looks black, giving the whole unit a rather cheap appearance.
Oh 3 colors, ok, more colors give users more options, which is good i guess ... and I agree with you crazybones, .. the black one does not look special at all

Good spot. That's the same picture. I might hold off ordering until the colours in the UK distribution channels are known. Silver or brown look great, but the black is a No No!
The black Desires are all preproduction units. They also have a red ring around the camera.
The final versions are Urban Brown or Silver, although Silver looks grey plasticky cheap to me. I'm going for the brown one...
proper black looks the best i think, but if it wont be available im gettin the brown one

Are you sure of this claim? so there are not gonna be any official black versions? because as far as I know, even the Silver ones have not officially been announced or showed by HTC

this is a render from a long time back when the phone was only rumored to be in existence. That is not what the Desire looks like now. Even if there is a black one it wont look anything like this.
And if you look at the optical trackpad. You see it doesn't have button. And Tis button is needed to take pictures so I don't think there will be a black desire. They are just engineering samples.
I emailed Handtec today as it looks like their going to be the cheapest about the black HTC desire and this is what they said.
With regards to this the device will be sent from HTC direct, but we are unsure on the exact colour at the moment but it looks like it may be the black anyway, any other colours will be locked to networks and therefore not available sim free,
Looks like black may only be given if buying sim free which I'm planning too anyway

a lot of people confuse dark brown with black, ... so if i were you, i would ask them again, is it dark brown, or black? ... as most of the videos/pics of the unlocked Desire I saw contains dark brown, only one had black on it (and in the video they said its not a final device)
So what about GRAPHITE colour then guys? Is Graphite = Dark Brown or what? Cause on clove & handtec it says device colour is Graphite... I am confused as 2 which colour shall I choose when ordering...

I emailled and called HTC today about (among other things) which colours would be available. The available colours depend on which country you are in and their customer service people could only go by the info on their website.
I have emailled their press people to get a definitive answer and will post a reply when they get back to me.
if you look at the video on youtube (italian review) it definitely looks grey/black. I reckon this is the graphite model as opposed to the urban brown. Handtec and clove have both updated their descriptions to say graphite now.

there is no "black" desire, .. its Urban brown, .. sometimes it looks black in the pictures but it isnt really black
contact clove.co.uk, and ask them wither they will get a silver version, they are very helpful
They are both ugly, if only the brown one was brushed metal like on Hero
Silver paints tend to scratch very easily

there is no black, .. there is only brown, dark brown, .. in some pictures it appears to be black, .. but it isnt,

I think the silver would be a great eye catcher
Have preordered the brown one. Reason: I don't like a greyish paint that easily scratches and is in too much contrast with the many dark screens that most app/site developers tend to favour.
Besides that: Brown sounds perhaps ugly as a phone colour but it almost looks blackish (so no ugly retro-brown). And, once you went black, you'll never go back
The Gunmetal (silver) color looks nice, but I think I will stick with the brown/dark color. If it had the metal-back like the HTC Legend, then that would be a major seller

No its not funny strategy, thats how they can generate more revenue, .. imagine that HTC (and all other manufacturers) instead of making different features phones, make one super/pretty phone. Who will buy other than that phone? noone, and the users will keep that super/pretty phone for years without drolling over other devices.
I also wish if i could get the the Desire inside a Legend body (who does not?) but that is the way it is there is nothing perfect

True. In the end, HTC has to worry about revenue. Either way...this phone will be going into a protective case with a screen saver ASAP

Im buying an HTC One X in the new few weeks, and I was wondering if I should get the black or white one. I heard there were issues with the white model and wearing jeans. If you have the black, do you like it?
What ..jeans. no issues here..black doesn't look good at all ..n the HTC and Beats Audio logo don't pop...White looks gorgeous ...get the white one....

I currently own the white one and i love it, however unlike some other phones it lacks a clear protective overcoat ( Such as "Iphoney" 4 ) and the white wears down fast, i am a jeans wearer and on hot days or if im walking alot the dye washes on the case especially on the edges, Trust me its a pain to get rid of the stains, took me a few days worth of fetteling to clean it off, i now own The htc white stripey case, and it saves a lot of hassel.
If your a tart like me then get white just take precautions, and get a case. I cant stand the black version it lacks the premium look that the white has.

i too got the grey - reason being - i hate the ipod look and i have always thought the white to be a bit girly (sorry girls).
i got mine release day and it still looks brand new even after putting it in my levi`s lol

no jeans issues (btw most jeans these days have their pockets made out of different material + jeans dont bleed color after you wash them for the first time, otherwise they bleed color even on white snickers)
grey model looks cheap and white model is by far the more popular one and everyone i know says its the better looking one.
I got the white one, as it was obvious choise since i always wanted White. My neighbour got grey and it's good looking too!

Depends on whether how long you plan on using it for... If its for very long then I suggest black, cause white gets dirty on the back very easily

I was pretty sure I would be getting white version, but when I came to the shop and saw both of them next to each other I fell in love with gray. Seriously, in pictures it doesn't look even half as good as in reality. It is very classy and looks kind like a monolite, which is not the case with white. Also, white is not as white as it looks in pictures.
Only drawback is that back of the phone catches fingerprints easily (maybe due to hot summer and sweating hands) and I think I have some solid fat marks that I can't get rid of. Don't know how white one behaves tho.

Got the gold one (because I didn't want to wait for the white one, and "black" is too goth for me) although I shouldn't be that bothered because I always run my phones in cases. Got a Spigen one for mine - also gold of course - and delivery from Spigen UK was very, very fast!

Well... Would you buy a gold car?
Black is too plain, gold is too cheesy, and still unsure how I feel about the violet. So probably white for me.

Pretty sure I will go black (possibly white). But those two general colors are a lot easier to make look nice when deciding on cases. Everything goes with black and white for the most part.

You need to decide which you want ideally. If I had a choice I'd go for black front with silver back but it's not available in the UK so I'm going for all black. (carbon grey)

I have the lighter M9, and I had the darker M8. I believe of the two, I prefered the darker color. So I will likely go with the black/darker tone.
That Red look legit, but it doesn't appear to be available in the US
I check their website and the unlocked only comes in Black and Silver.

Definitely the black anodized. Same color as my M7, which I'm glad to see them going back to; very much disliked the brushed gunmetal styling they went with for the M8-M9.

I pre-ordered the Glacial Silver EU model with the white front.
I would prefer the silver with a black front, but sadly this version seems US only So, it would be the all black for me.
Pre-ordered the all black one.
Had the silver M7, and the grey M8 as well as M9 and since prefer the dark colour of a device.

I just noticed that this seems like a bad looking Photoshop, why is the HTC Logo so small?
I know they made a red version for Japan, but that seems really off.
I emailed support to find out if they are going to have the Topaz Gold in the US. Waiting for a reply. UK pre-order site has it. Only carbon/silver on the US pre-order. Would assume. Really like the Topaz White like my A9 now that I've had it awhile.

I opted for the Coral Blue. I'm tired of black and silver phones. I saw the way it looked in MKBHD's first impressions video and thought it looked amazing. I will admit that the black (on black on black) looks really stealthy and cinematic though.
I would have chosen the coral blue as it looks great. But it's not currently being offered in Australia. I struggled to choose between the Onyx Black & Gold Platinum. In the end I went with the Gold Platinum as my Galaxy S6 edge is the same colour and I think it looks nice and a bit more premium. That being said, the Onyx Black looks sleek as hell and I would be happy with either colour.

I'm generally not a fan of Black smartphones because it's so common. But this looks so sexy.
I went with the coral blue. There's no better option. I had the gold S7, platinum S7 Edge and the black looks too simple honestly.

I loved it until I went to the store and saw it in person. It's basically a mirror. Fingerprints galore and takes on the color of anything around. I was set on that color so I'm glad I went in the store first. Just a small tip!
I ended up with black because of the deepness of it and it's more of a matte color. The others are all very shiny and reflective.

Apple thought so too. The iP7 is introducing Space Black. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing for us black Note7 owners.

With a case wrapped around mine, not sure if the Titanium Silver (which is what I chose) will matter for me... All four cases I bought are some version of black or dark. Maybe I didn't 'zactly think this one through...

I generally get cases with some form of gold in it, and with all those cases the edge is black. With my typical gold color phones, I get this mash of gold and black in the front...now I'm tired of that look so I'm getting black.
Maybe the note 9 will get silver, I saw the blue in the store....it didn't call out to me as much as the pictures did online.
I went with the Titanium Silver as I've had Black Galaxy phones before and to me look dull, thought the black S-pen looks awesome. I am not a fan of the color blue, so didn't even cross my mind.. The silver will look great with this case as its shown in the picture....

Ive always liked Black Samsung phone, but that silver Samsung sign on the front is so hideous imo.
After visiting Best Buy and seeing the silver completely covered with thousands of fingerprints I'll get the black.

That's some solid advice haha, fingerprints are just the worst...
Went with the Black Onyx. Played with one at Best Buy and fell in love with the all black finish. Like a nice HD TV.
Well I'm going with the fingerprint magnet. Always had black so I thought silver would be a nice change. A case and a screen protector will help with the prints.
Went for the coral blue, last two phones were white (note 2 & 3). Probably would've went for gold if it was offered in the US but I just ordered a cherry leather case and I'm unsure on how'd it contrast with a blue phone.
I'm leaning towards the Coral Blue (since my 6P is awesome Silver), but haven't made a final decision until I check it in person...
Went with the silver titanium didn't see the blue in person but it has rose gold around the edge so I'm not interested. Black I've had my reasoning is I can have the silver if I want to change it I can put a black decal on it like a skin or a wood skin or a black case.

Ordered both the Black and Blue, I handle the phones form my company so I can play with them both and decide which one I like better... if at all as I'm not sure I'm ready to give up my Nexus 6P
