Anyone got a definate date for the t-mobile UK release? - Desire General

Some people saying Thursday, some Friday, some Monday.
Anyone had confirmation or have inside T-Mobile info?

Official date touted by T-Mob is the 26th however if their stock arrives early they will be sending it early.

Friday, but probably I will receive it Monday.

You've no chance of receiving it until the 6th at the earliest. No stock will arrive for either phone shops or general retailers until the 1st of April - which unfortunately is the day before Good Friday.
The original 26th projection was erroneous.

26th wasn't a projection - it was the date T-Mobile stated for release on their twitter page and to all press contacting them.
I've also been told by 3 seperate customer service agents that stock will be in by 25th - to expect delivery on Saturday 27th.. If you're lucky, Friday 26th. (Which has been confirmed by pretty much everyone on hotukdeals - who have ordered the phone)
So i'm fairly confident i will be getting my HTC Desire at the very latest - Monday 29th of March. Plus i ordered 2 hours after they put up the pricing details, so got in very early incase their first shipment was limited.
Also to note: T-Mobile and all the networks have a window of time on their Credit Check process. 10 days..
So you'd have quite a few very angry customers - who have been debited £164 for the £10/pm price plan (like myself).. And have a credit search added to their credit report - only having to repeat the credit search process again.. As they can't complete on that time frame until despatch has been confirmed.

I was told Saturday by both the guy in T-Mobile store and T-Mobile on the phone. Although the guy in the store mentioned it's a bank holiday on monday so I won't receive it til Wednesday... :S

Ive spoken to a number of authorised HTC vendors who all say that the 26th WAS stated as the despatch date but that this is now April 1st. How can TMobile get it before the factories have despatched it?
Also Friday and Monday are bank holidays so theres no chance of anything arriving then.

I received an email of black market import manager, he pretends he will get it on 1st April in the showroom,if it's true it will be great to spend Easter holidays with a Desire!
Don't ask how he will get it so fast knowing he buy directly from Asian countries, unless he uses air freight it will come by boat and this take plenty of time (10 days)

I forgot to add....my handset will be unlocked and unbranded and the contract is only costing £306 all-in so even if TMobile somehow get their branded stock out first im still happy

Just decided to ring to confirm again
Stock coming in Friday - Should arrive Saturday.. So think where ya getting ya info is incorrect..
1) T-Mobile wouldnt pump out a release date of 26th - and tell all the press aswell
2) I can't imagine they'd waste submitting thousands of credit searchs - only to have to resubmit then and then go through the hassle of removing the original credit search from everyones credit report. As two searchs would have an adverse affect on somebodies credit rating.
3) Doubt they'd be lieing to so many customers about a release of 26th and expected delivery of the Saturday - as everyone on hotukdeals have been told that.. And hundreds of people on there have ordered.
As for phone branding - nobody knows yet what T-Mobile branding will be on the phone. If any.. I'd imagine the battery cover is most likely with the time HTC have had since T-Mobile are getting the first batch.. Simple pop onto ebay in 2/4 weeks and u'll be able to order a replacement cover for £7-10 if you really want.. - As for locking. Not a big deal to people already on T-Mobile like myself - plus unlock codes will be doing the rounds in the next 1-2 months.
As for you getting one for £306 - i giggled - i really did

Some indications that the handset will be completely unbranded physically
- Someone on here on another thread, said T-Mobile UK on twitter informed him of no branding
- T-Mobile HTC Desire competition winner posted a video of his new phone, no branding. He can't however confirm whether its a pre release or T-Mobile retail version
- Chatter on other forums with people confirming the handset will have no branding
I would imagine the phones will come network locked - my personal feeling is T-Mobile wanted to first release of this phone.. As a result - didn't give HTC enough time to brand the device.. Whether this is true of the network lock, network boot logo or firmware.. Is unknown.

Yeah they informed me via twitter that it was going to be unbranded (this was back when I was going to try and get early upgrade rather than buyout and new contract).
If you think about it there is one reason which really sticks out for this, Orange and T-Mobile are merging VERY Soon. They wouldn't want to be merging, changing their name and then having their best handset still displaying the old networks name. That's my opinion on it anyway.
BTW, if it was branded they would have renamed it like the other HTC Android phones, T-Mobile G3 Mytouch 3G or some crap like that...

Very good point on the handset name - they did indeed rebrand the HTC Hero the G2.. So again that could be a clear indication of no physical branding.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Just called t-mob again and this time the operator said she thought it wouldnt be available until next Tuesday so probably delivered for next Weds / Thurs.
WTF is going on? Why cant we get a definate date?????????????

It sounds like the initial rumour of them only having 75 handsets is true.
They will more than likely have got way more than 75 handsets. They're probably prioritising the initial stock for "loyal" customers eg Upgrades and everyone else will get the phone when they get more stock which is probably when you said "next Tuesday"

Annoying. I already have a contract with T-mob, this will be an additional contract (which I would think would make me more 'loyal' than someone with one who is upgrading.) But then again I am a bit of a freak. I've ordered 2 Desires so will now have 3 T-mob contracts, one 02 and one Orange. Don't tell my wife....

I still wouldn't hold your breaths thinking you're going to get your handsets before the 6th April. Operators are notoriously slow on the uptake/shady with their sales tactics and all the alternative vendors ive spoken to seemed very erudite and said they were in close communications with HTC, and that all their information was telling them that the 1st April was the earliest shipments could be expected.
I fail to understand why T-Mobile would get the handsets a week before the three largest distributers and resellers in the country with no good reason. If the handsets are available and tested HTC would release them to all clients surely?

It is because T-Mobile have a (albeit very small) time exclusive contract with the Desire.
It's been known for ages, back at MWC infact, that T-Mobile would get the phone at the end of March and other networks would get it in April.

its not a network issue though: contract IS on T-Mobile and is not supplied by any other networks, it is a generic factory model.

Just spoke to T-Mobile & it is an unbranded handset. Still locked to T-Mobile UK and it's meant to be non-software branded but I could be wrong.

Orange UK Release Date?

Orange UK seem to be doing what they are best at.
Every time I speak to someone from Orange (once a week for the last 6 weeks) to find out if the Touch Pro 2 has been released I get a different answer.
Back on the 26th May I spoke to someone who had a look and said that the phone was still on the "coming soon" list. He had a look else where and found that the phone was listed to be first released as a SBC (Small Business Customer) phone and then a little later for none business users. He had no date but said it should be early to mid June.
Yesterday I was told there is still no date, but it should be released mid to late June. The guy at orange started to explain how to go about through a 3rd party to get the upgrade but then I lost my signal. I rang back and was then told that the phone would definatly not be out with in the next 4 weeks.
Today I rang up and was told that there is no date listed, but the phone is still just "coming soon". I said about the person from yesturday, but the lady has no idea why I was told a definate no for the next 4 weeks as it could come out tomorrow, 2 weeks, 4 weeks or not at all. I also asked about the phone first being available to business customers and was told that there is no mention about the phone being a business phone and the release would be wide spread across the whole of orange UK. The lady has also put me on a ring back service, will check daily to see if the phone had been released and let me know if it has... While I have no reason to dis-believe this, I dont hold much hope.
I have rang around, but cant find a phone dealer that can do an upgrade for me with the Touch Pro 2
Little to say, I am getting a bit tired of all the different answers I get.
When I got my Tytn 2 from orange it was only listed as a business phone and I think the Touch Pro 2 will probably be the same way
Does any one here have any more information or shed any light on the release of the phone as an orange branded handset, be it for business or none business use.
Firstly I'll say that their ring-back service worked for me. This was back when the TyTN2 was released. They sent me a text on the day it became available telling me to call them, which I did instantly. The next day I had the phone in my hands. So have some faith.
However, the wait may be long, or short.
I used to be on Orange (having been a VERY loyal, high spending customer) for many years, but I have since become very cheesed off with their outdated tariffs and delays bringing phones to the market.
I have now switched to Vodafone, and while I don't get anywhere near as good signal strength, they provide a decent enough service for me.
I am sad I had to move away from orange, but it's too little too late.
See, I like Orange's service and the service plan I am on is very good value for money and they consider me somewhat of a 'loyal customer'.
I am in exactly the same boat as you, I've been speaking to different people and it's gone from 'within 2 weeks' (this was mid may I was told this) to the phone not being listed on the system, to the Diamond2 being released?
It seems the HD is out of stock and I had been told that it was being discontinued and replaced by another handset. Some reps have told me that it was Touch Pro2 and some have told me they do not know.
I've just been emailing Orange (they have this irritating habit where you hit the reply button and a different person replies) all of them told me it was only going to be released on Business, but like another person in this thread I also have a TyTn II on a personal account.
This morning the Touch HD was taken off the website! So I'm going to keep playing it from the angle of 'What phone is going to replace the HD on the personal account' and 'I want a Windows Mobile phone with a keyboard because I can't stand purely touch screen phones!
I really really want to keep my contract and just get an Orange branded Pro2
Just spoke to them on the phone about the HD disappearing off the website. Apparently they're looking at replacing it with the Touch Diamond2 and when I said does that have a keyboard? He said no it doesn't but the Touch Pro2 does (in a hesistant voice).
I went on to ask whether that would be available for me to upgrade to as a personal user and he said yes it should be, but there is no indication of price yet as it's too early on.
I'm sure the next person I speak too, will tell me otherwise...
The Orange tariffs seem to suit me quite well... There might be a better tariff for me somewhere, but at the moment my monthly bill only usually differs pennies each month and i can really hammer the phone some months.
When I asked about the upgrade price about a month I go I was told that I would probably get the phone for free being that I am a long time loyal high value none business customer (have been on one of the top tariffs now for 6 or 7 years).
Infact when I got the tytn2 (which was only available for business customers at the time), Orange actually credited my account with £100 for me to stay and take the the phone off their hands.
I guess only time will tell with the rhodium
I just wish that Orange would be a bit quicker at releasing new phones.
Out of interest, I wonder if Orange list the rhodium as having an inbuilt GPS receiver. Orange seem to insist that the rhodium does not have a GPS, although it does have an FM radio :S Come to think about it, they also insisted that the tytn2 didnt have a GPS either when I upgraded to that
I got another response today from someone that seemed a bit more human.
Hello
Thank you for your email into the Orange shop.
I have checked the website and we have 2 HTC phones on sale.
We have the HTC Touch 3G and the HTC Touch Diamond(tm)
http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/all
We also have the HTC Touch Pro 2 in review at the moment. Fingers crossed
this one will make the cut as it's a brilliant phone.

I'm reckoning I might get it for free, although I haven't been as long term as you with Orange, I just want them to list it as coming soon! It's driving me mad, I can be so impatient with stuff like this sometimes haha.
For orange France it's not planned yet...
I wait because I want to by it with mobile contract at less price than unbranded...

Yup +1 that.... Orange are in danger of loosing out if they wait much longer- Hmm Xperia X2 anyone?
I've had our company phones with Orange for over 10 years, but have just switched to Vodafone. We save around £500 per month (20 Touch Pro and Pro 2 all free), have all data included in the plan plus managed services with antivirus, firewall etc and the cuistomer service people I speak with are much more responsive than Orange. No problems with connectivity. The choice of handset and talk / data plans is far better than Orange and in the 3 months we've been with Vodafone I have experienced no probs whatsoever.

See, I've been provided a fabulous service with Orange. My price plan is very cheap and I get a lot for my money. I'm on the £8 a month internet bundle which apparently is limited to 500mb or whatever but I usually use over a gig a month and never get charged.
I'm going to wait it out, I just up hope some new information crops up in the next week. They'd be able to release it if Orange didn't bog down the phone with so much crap!

Not helpful sorry, but if its any consolation, I am getting the same run around from o2. Least with Orange, they have to keep releasing the 'business' class devices. o2 (I think) are going to limit the new devices to push people towards the iphone (sorry for swearing) or blackberry. Neither of which I personally want.
I just spoke with Orange business Sales
They say it should be available to first for Business Sales than Upgrades,
It will be available after the end of the 19th of July

Orange have updated their coming soon page on the consumer site.... no sign of TP2 yet
However I've been diligently checking the page for the past few months (I know, i know...) and updates seem to take place around 14-16th of each month.
Hoping that this darn phone turns up soon.

Haha, I've been doing this too. I may as well have it as my homepage.. They have definitely updated the Coming Soon list at least twice this month (including today) so I don't think your theory is entirely true.
Come on Orange! My contract expires this week!
Just spoken with Orange and the phone is currently in testing and it there will only be limited number handset to start off with for Business Account holders .
Imagine Orange are fecking up software as we speak

They're releasing the iPhone 3Gs? I didn't know O2 weren't keeping it exclusively anymore.
Orange updated their coming soon list! No TP2 though
Just got off the phone with Orange.
Apparently it's 'limited stock' at the moment and that the update on their server today said that they were in testing mode. If it pasts tests then it will be given to business customers in limited stock, then if it is popular they'll release it to personal customers.
What was interesting, was that he said if an Orange shop stocks the phone, they might be a to give to you on a personal contract as 'they have more leeway than the telesales'.
Sigh, the wait carries on...
ORANGE now sell the TP2

Mobiles.co.uk orders

OK so there's a topic for mobilephonesdirect orders so thought I would start one for mobiles.co.uk.
They say they are getting stock in at the end of march but this could be wrong?
I've ordered the Vodafone 600 plan with £5 deduction, 600 minutes, unlimited texts and will pay an extra £5 for internet.
My Order still says Order Pending, put it through Saturday Night.

Is it normal for my order to still say "Pending - Order Received" Does it change from this before they get stock in?
I hope i'm wrong here guys (as i also have a preorder placed through them, way back at the end of Feb) but i believe the first stock is T mobile only, the vodafone stock wont be in / released until the first week in april in line with when the network is releasing the handset.
Could be wrong but that is the impression i was given by mobiles.co.uk customer services when i enquired about what happened r.e credit check etc seeing as i ordered so long ago.
Pending - order received is also fine it's just because the handset isn't in stock

So surely they are getting in Sim-Free handsets which have nothing at all to do with the network you have selected?
So it does, you may be right then, although i'm certain an email from customer services said T mobile stock was going out first, I think i've deleted it though.
Suppose i'll work on waiting a couple of weeks and if it arrives sooner then great
Having said that if the handsets aren't tied back to the network somehow then how do these companies ensure you dont just cancel the contract (as it would effectively be sim only) and keep the handset?
Interesting...
Seems like there orders could be coming direct from T-Mobile then.. Rather than normal where u'd get the SIM free handset direct from Mobiles.co.uk
May give an indication that ordering from T-Mobile direct will be giving us a SIM free handset aswell

They get their money purely for putting you on the contract, IE Vodafone will pay them straight away. But of course vodafone know you've bought it from mobiles.co.uk. If you cancel with vodafone within the period I'm pretty sure they would then inform mobiles.co.uk who you'd have to send the handset back to.
It's then all with the network provider and they technically could if they wanted to have nothing more to do with you at all. The only way you could get out of the contract is by buying it out which gives no loss of money to either vodafone or mobiles.co.uk.
Substitute vodafone with the network you've chosen
Hope we'll all get it on Friday lol, will be disappointed now if not. Wouldn't have been disappointed originally but now they updated their page to say first stock 26th march, that's when I'm expecting it!

I think tbh - that they're getting stock in on the 25th and release is 26th (Which is why the listed it as 25th).. With T-Mobile having a 1-2 day delivery time.. I'd imagine some will recieve it on the 26th - then some on the 27th.. Depending on the post. Purely a guess though.
It's killing me waiting though - im to use to ordering things and getting them next day now
Just got this from mobiles.co.uk:
Hello,
We are hoping this handset will be approved onto the T-Mobile network shortly although we do not have an exact date for this as yet. We are expecting to receive stock of this handset tomorrow. So that means vodafone has to wait then?
I thought they were unlocked, so they would send them out regardless of the network you've chosen.
Just got this text:
"Your order has been accepted by your chosen network and has now been passed along to out Quality Team for further checks, thank you"
Have ordered it on vodafone. Maybe vodafone customers from mobiles.co.uk will get it dispatched tomorrow?
Mobiles.co.uk just sent a message confirming the network has accepted the order etc. The phone was ordered on March 13th (Vodaphone 12 month contract). Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer for my 'superphone'.

whats with mobilephonesdirect avoid

omg i knew they had some bad press but thought i woulod use them anyways as they looked fairly repretable and are an ultimate partner of htc. They claime to get htc stock before anyone else yet i pre order the desire pay for next day delivery and oh wait they arent even sending it until tuesday. Tuesday arg so much for getting it first and there deals are matched by tmobile. I for one will never use them again just thought i would post here so that maybe i could help others from making this mistake. I still cant get over the fact that tmobile had a delay and still have there stock out and in stores faster then this so called ultimate partner. But the thing that makes it worse is you could say they may not of had the stock come in but they have been showing it as in there warehouse for days yet the order sits at pending stock what stock they claimed to have enough devices to cover all pre orders. Avoid Mobilephonesdirect like the plague if you ever actually want to get your hands on your phone!!!
MPD have always said that they'd have stock the week beginning the 5th of April. Even if they did get it on the 1st, and ship it that very day, you wouldn't get it till Tuesday due to the bank holidays and the Royal Mail not delivering.
I've ordered my Desire with them because I've had good experiences in the past with MPD, and I'm more than likely to use them again.
Got my SIM today
Not sure what's going on. I have another line on t-mobile and received notification that the new number is active a few days ago.
MPD managed to post me the SIM - I had to sign for it 10 mins ago, so why could they have not posted the phones too?
A city dweller like me does get Royal Mail deliveries on a Saturday so I guess lots of other people do too.
Also it looks like my contract is already a week in now but no device!
Tom
You'll get it w/c 5th April, that has always been the word as far as i was aware
yeah i always knew the 5th as a date but they got stock in early ie and could of shipped for a Saturday delivery but even less then that its actually being sent on Tuesday so it wont arrive until Wednesday even though it was pre ordered not bought when they had stock. I guess i am being a little harsh on them but when i placed the order the description bragged about how they always have the htc devices first and yet people who are just popping to town to get a phone are now getting it before me. I guess i just really really hate waiting but it is a great deal, the guy from vodafone who was trying to beg me not to go even said he couldn't believe how good a deal it was. I'm sure the wait will be worth it once it gets here unbranded and cheaper then the best deals the high street can do.
had bad issues in the past with them so i avoid them as well.
If you really want to get the first unbranded stock, get your orders in at devicewire.co.uk when a new phone comes out.
they are the retail arm of Brightpoint, the main European HTC distributor. Unless a retailer is grey importing from somewhere else, any UK shop would get their stock from brightpoint anyway.....with a few exceptions like CPW or the networks, but in general, devicewire does seem to often be first, but they do sell out VERY quickly.
Clove.co.uk are very good as well, but that's mainly cos they're less than 5 miles from brightpoint's main depot!!

Hey all, my 1st port on the forums, loving the community you guys have here!
Not sure if this has been posted already but it will be of interest to everyone who has placed a telephone / web order with T-mobile in the past few days.
I'm just off the phone with a sales representative at T-Mobile who told me that they have no Desires left in stock.
They expect to receive a delivery of handsets on Friday. All been well my order which was placed on Sunday should be fulfilled on Saturday.
Don't count on it.
I ordered online on Thursday 1st April and was told today mine would "hopefully be allocated to you on Friday".
This is despite reading on other forums people who ordered on Good Friday are getting theirs tomorrow.
They got 200 hundred odd in today ffs, a fat lot of good that will have done to clear back orders and even then they have to be split between upgrades, existing and new customers.
oh well.... will just have to wait and see I guess
Hi, I was told "Tuesday" when called for upgrade on Easter Monday, hope they don't tell lies just to keep us in
Wait ... WHAAAAT?
I just called to get a replacement for my HTC Desire as it has a faulty pixel and they said they have stock, and said they'll send it tomorrow.
Wtf, I dont want a used HTC Desire - No way.
I got it done at 4:30ish today though, and confirmed that I do have it on the way later at 6, dont trust CS.
This is a piss take, I'm considering not sending mine back just yet for replacement.

It's interesting that the CS representative told me they got 400 in today... looks like they make up any old crap...
The Desire, T_Mobile.... and the wait....
As I see it, those of us who have placed our orders with the T-Mob and get a different story at every turn, have little or no option but to sit and wait. Because, as yet, no other carrier has stock, no independents have stock, only CPW have stock and they can't sell us upgraders one on T-M 'cos they've been told not to. And seeing as the T-Mob are offering far and away the best deals on the Desire, I for one have resigned myself to waiting, and waiting, and...
They've got us by the Wotsits™ and they know it! So they hand them out to new connections sound in the knowledge that we'll still be there in the queue when they're ready.

Vodafone Stock

So is anyone else in the same boat as me and waiting for a Desire from Vodafone?
Thought it might be worthwhile starting a thread here since the moderators on the official Vodafone forum have that place on lock down with so much as a mention of the word stock.
I ordered my desire on the 16th and still waiting for it and there's absolutely no sign of any stock being delivered to Vodafone. Just wish they could at least give us just a little info rather than completely stonewalling us.
Have you tried CPW? I walked in and got mine (albeit their last one) on the 2nd...
Yeah, local CPW has a few in stock but can't offer me as good a deal as I got through the web relations team over twitter. That's the only reason I'm waiting for Vodafone really.
Ah right!! I actually saved by downgrading my contract and still got phone for free so I was happy
I just ordered one yesterday, I phoned them up and they said I should recieve it within 3 days time? Ill ring them up again later on today to see what the situation is
i am awaiting 2 from vodafone and have been told this morning by 2 different members of staff that their stock list is showing as expecting on either the 27th, 28th or 29th
Oh thats not good then lol
I think there's a fairly substantial back log of orders still awaiting delivery. I'd imagine there's quite a few people who ordered before me and still haven't got theirs yet.

hey buddy its due in on the 29th, a close family member has works for them and has assured me it will be in then, although there is some priority stock so that wont guarantee you will get yours.
I had this problem with the HD2 as well. It is so irritating that they still take orders without letting people know the stock situation. The only reason I am bothering to get mine from them is because I can't be bothered to unlock it from T-Mobile... so annoying lol. I phoned them up just before and they said thursday they are getting more, if its anything like the HD2... it'll probably be a handful at best. They are useless, wouldn't be surprised if they pull this from the website as well and it is never seen again
I walked past the t-mobile shop in main highstreet in Leicester Sunday and had
a sign saying it was in stock but limited. Might be worth a ring if you live close?

Thanks for that info. It's just a shame that Vodafone couldn't have told us that
I forgot to add, when I spoke to Vodafone last night, I rang 191 from my phone and spoke to those guys and they were actually helpful. They didn't know why the site doesn't state low on stock or no stock and agree that it should, but they did know why there isn't stock, apparently they were meant to have a delivery a while back but because of the volcano, everything got pushed back so now there is a back log on everything coming to them, which if im honest, makes sense. Hence the back log on orders placed as well.. I was impatient with my HD2, this time, I am just going to wait and it'll come when it comes
According to twitter they are also sending out free 16GB memory cards with all orders made before 5pm yesterday (27th)
Link? I ordered it before then lol
^ it's on their twitter.
One member who oredered 2.5 weeks ago on AVForums has had a text saying they should expect theirs tomorrow. I ordered on the 15th and haven't heard anything yet but I'm expecting to hear from them soon.
Hmmm, if the phones weren't locked, I would 100% have not got it from Vodafone lol.. but I need my sim to work on it. Always 3rd party phone companies, i'll know tomorrow if I get one from the batch thats supposed to be arriving 'tomorrow'. If not, i'll see what my local vodafone store has to offer or even the telephone sales department
got my Desire from CPW, unbranded/unlocked and I'm on Vodafone - not an issue with it at all!!
