Can we expect Orange release today (2nd)? - Desire General

I've read a few reports suggesting that Orange will be making the desire available from today (Fri 2nd Apr) through its stores and possibly online. Think techradar confirmed this in a recent article.
Can anyone shed any more light on the chances of a release today?!

Go to bed.... wake up and see!

I would be suprised if they did as 4 days ago the guy at orange said he had no clue when it is out.

I rang Orange retentions at 09:01 this morning. No HTC Desire, no release date, not likely to be released later today. Just goes to show you can't always believe what you read on t'internet!
What they did say is that they feed back demand to the powers that be on a daily basis so the more people who ring up and ask for a Desire, the faster it will be released. Apparently they are waiting until their stock of HTC Hero and some other handsets is used up (around 3-4 days worth) before launching the Desire but will launch it earlier if they sense they are losing out to other networks.
If anyone hear different, let us know!
Ian A.

Well I'm gonna head off to Vodafone once Devicewire get them in - they've got a good £25/month deal with 600 mins +texts +'unlimited' internet. I have no real faith in Orange anymore unless retentions offer me a really good deal (and based on what I had to do 18 months ago, that is as likely as me playing for the Arsenal at the Nou Camp on Tuesday - although given our injuries... )
Oh and one more thing that will definitely delay it with Orange - last night the released the Xperia X10 - they'll want to shift them first before the HTC Desire. I originally wanted that but now the reviews haven't been that favourable - no multi-touch (ever!!!!), Android 1.6 with a promise to go to 2.1 (presumably when everyone has gone to 3.0) - although their mediascape, timescape interfaces do work well. Hardware wise it could've been the ultimate handset - 8MP camera, 4 inch hi-def screen etc. yet only being a smidgeon bigger than an iPhone. Yet SE screw up again by releasing a handset with a version of software that is 6 months old. And given their current record of not fully supporting their handsets when they're out (extrememly slow updates, with bugs not being ironed out) I think I'll be giving that one a miss...

Are they having a laugh? They'll releease it earlier if they sense they are losing out to other networks? OK, T-Mobile had first the exclusive to get it out first, but Vodafone have it and even bloody Virgin Media have it. Losing out to other networks is a masterpiece of understatement if VM have the thing and the supposed "best network of 2009" don't yet!

I doubt they will wait for them to get rid of Xerpia X10 as its the Desire's alternative option so people who dont like HTC and are Sony fans will go for that while others will want Desire.

Ordinarily that would be true but this is Orange we're talking about here!!!
Besides I believe they are the first to be selling the X10 so whilst they have that advantage they're gonna push that to the full. If you have a choice between that and the Desire then it fragments their sales for the X10. And let us not forget there is an outside chance of them not even stocking it all!
With the X1 they were constantly saying it was coming etc. and in the end they never officially released it (even though cpw and others were selling it on Orange plans). The X10 was listed as a coming soon phone for the last month or so, and yet the HTC Desire isn't even listed as coming soon.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it never came out on Orange (esp. if they can't get their crapware onto it)...

True, I hope that dont happen tho otherwise I will have to wait till July before changing to another network as upgrade can be done early but I cant afford to buy the rest of my contract and then get a new one.

thats good news as if its out in France I cant see why they wont be out in UK.

Hehe - good news for you guys but:
http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-pho...nvBLDTszxGDLTK1j4vwH6JG!1816178946!-514848741
Still nothing for us! For the record I reckon it will come out but Lord knows when they will announce it. The Orange PR guy said 'early April, with the black edition late April'.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/29/htc-desire-black-edition-confirmed-coming-to-orange-uk-in-late/
When you consider that, it is quite bizarre that officially they don't even list it as coming soon...

Sometimes, Orange guys are not very well informed
I went in a shop two days ago (Desire already were on Orange website) and the man tell me he never heard speaking about the HTC Desire... We have so good sellers in our country

Well, once again I have spoken to Orqange and the best answer they could come out with was "within the next two weeks".
FFS it's typical Orange. Always the first to announce and the last to get!
I have, and I quote, been promised that "We'll send you a text message as soon as they have the handset available, so that you can arrange to obtain the phone".
Place your bets now on whether I'll actually get a text or not...

Yeah Orange are very bad at getting new phones in, I had this issue with the Nokia N78 and they never ended up getting it. Although that time, they had not announced they will have it while they did with Desire and its on the French website so in that way it must mean it WILL come but when is the question. They got till 14th as thats when I can upgrade ha ha but o2 not getting it till 19th and 3 till 20th so Orange got till then to be same time as others.

Have any of you guys considered making the switch to T-mobile seeing as how in a few months they will both be the same 1 network anyway?

I am - but the department that handles issuing the PAC codes aren't open today. Will be on the phone from 09:00 tomorrow to get it and then will order the T-Mobile package (£30/month 18 months) off mobiles.co.uk.
Apparently the phone isn't even in their reviews list and the bloke on the phone wasn't even sure they would be getting it!!!!
Bet i get a different story tomorrow when I finally get my PAC code....

If you go through T-Mobile themselves you'll get a much better deal, the are also much more reliable than mobiles.co.uk seem to be and if the phone breaks you have the added security that you can just take it back into a store for repair instead of bothering with mailing it off etc.
If you haggle on the phone you can get the prices down, I got from this:
Handset cost : £60
600 Minutes
500 Texts
Flexible Booster
3GB Internet
£25 P/M
To:
Handset Cost: Free
600 Mins
Unlimited Texts (the flexible booster)
3GB Internet
£25 P/M
Try these excuses:
- I just phoned up and was told the phone was £x (this is what I did, I was genuine but it worked, might have to phone twice as they have it on record I assume when you phoned up)
- x.com is doing a better deal
- Vodafone is doing a better deal.

Ah OK, thanks for the advice - I was assuming a lot of the good deals were for current customers - is your deal 18 months? I don't wish to be tied in to a two year contract...

No, Mine is 24 months but I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to do the same thing with a 18 month contract.
The 18 month equivalent of my plan is £30 a month.

I would change but like I said in previous post, I cant afford the £80 to finish off my contract till July and then another £25 a month from April so would cost me extra £80 to change over early and no point in waiting for July as by that time a new fone would be out.

Desire shipments delayed until April 7th

Same for all the shops...damn!
Yep, just got a reply now from Handtec.co.uk (what are they doing up at this time!):
"Thank you for your email,
The HTC Desire sim free release date has now been slightly postponed, this is in response to confirmation from HTC that the release of this product will not be the previously mentioned 29th March but will be anytime between now and the 7th April,
I do apologise for this delay however this will not only affect Handtec however will affect all UK retailers as this has been imposed by HTC directly, however once the stock arrives we will promptly dispatch the goods,
Please advise if we can assist you further."
Damn.
That's funny, then how has mine been despatched by T-Mobile and they actually have them in?
Or is this just the retail / sim free units?
That's very upsetting! It's on their website now, too.
I thought the same, but their response to me made reference to sim free versions being delayed. No idea why this would be. Gutted really.
I got an e-mail from T-Mobile, saying mine has already shipped.
Supposedly it should reach me tomorrow (Saturday).
Clove sent me an email this afternoon too saying more or less the same thing. They emphasized that the unlocked/sim free version is delayed though, that's probably why the T-Mobile ones are shipping out no problem. Just a guess about that last one though.

Yeah I got the same from Clove back to the 7th
A little annoying but I will just have to put up with the hd2 for another week or so I guess. Cant complain to much.. Just returned to its original release date. Also received the mail from Clove at about half 5-6ish..
I guess it goes to show the pushing power the networks have when they want the hardware to go to them first.
That the main thing that frustrates me... I'm willing to pay £400 for the device but have to wait an extra week or so for the pleasure. Ahhh well I'm sure I will live..
Now I have nothing to look forward to...besides Easter egg hunting bwahaha
(Anyone like Peeps?)
Yeah I hope the first shipment is bigger than expected. I ordered mine from Clove and they already told me that mine will be shipped from the second lot. That was supposed to be on 2nd April (3 days later) so I will probably have to wait until the 10th to get mine shipped
Still, it's nice of them to keep us informed. Many places I have pre-ordered from in the past (particularly from Hong Kong) just keep you in the dark when due-dates change. That is the reason I won't deal with Expansys any more (not to mention their over-inflated prices).
Well, to those of you who went the carrier route, I think you're obligated to get reviews up IMMEDIATELY so those of us who are waiting have something to look at
Does anyone know if HTC provided a reason for the delay? If it's to fix a bug I'm more than happy to wait a little longer...
Allegedly, the Desire ROM failed Google testing - and the Big T fixed the issue quicker: www-coolsmartphone-com/news5645.html
Sorry, with a join date back in 2008 I'm a new user and must not use links ;-)
I'm from Belgium and here the shops have announced the 6th of April as release date although at some point they were mentioning 1st or 2nd of April...
Not a big deal, will wait one more week
Pretty annoying. Was getting really excited already, now gotta wait a whole lot longer. As I only recently pre ordered may be even longer till I get it....
It's weird!
Expansys UK and UAE are saying that they will have it in 4 days aka April 1...
Could they have pre-release stock like T-mobile?
When I heard about this on Saturday I was gutted and immediately assumed that HTC were putting the network carriers ahead of their direct customers, but if the Coolsmartphone report is correct then all is forgiven and I'd rather wait and let the HTC engineers work their magic.
From reading the posts on here of issues found by T-mobile folks who have received their phones already then it appears to me that they are mirroring the issues that were reported of early Desire ROMs, and if these are fixed in the phone I eventually receive then I'll be a contented bunny. In fact I'd even give HTC a big thumbs up to have the "spuds" to risk upsetting their fanbase by delaying launch to ensure that those of us forking out the full ~£400 for the Desire receive the best quality product possible.
However with people reporting issues, so unnerving me about the phone I'm going to get, and others saying it's fab so turning me green with envy, I might just have to give these forums a miss for the next week or so to keep my sanity!

I recently upgraded to the HTC HD2 and I am very happy with it now that I have upgraded to the Turbo3D graphics driver, Cookie Tabs, and done the performance registry tweaks.
After spending the cash on this device I hate to throw it away on another phone. I will wait till wp7 settles in a bit before moving over.
It really depends on what happens. If it has lots of quality apps, more freedom than iOS, and hardware and wireless providers not tampering with the OS, more than likely. Glad I'm not eligible for an upgrade for another year.

In Poland it will be probably some months later.
I'm eager to try it. But that also depends on what upgrades they plan.
If the plan is to bring those big missing things I'll be happy.
But if not unfortunately Android is the only way.
Now observing and plan to stay half a year more with WM.

Cheers.
I will buy the htc Mozart!
The screen on my HTC Diamond cracked yesterday, so I'm going to have to upgrade whether I like it or not. Display still works and hopefully it'll hold up until the phones are out.
I'm hoping that Vodafone have some reasonable tarriffs, I don't really want to go above £25 a month really. Hopefully the OS is working properly straight out of the gate and all of my old WM syncs straight across.
From what I've seen of WP7 so far, I don't think I'll bother.
Saying that though, if it ends up working really well when it's released, I might change my mind
My Fuze is dying. It has had a nice run but really needs to be replaced now. I am not thrilled about the first three handsets that appear ready to be released by att so I may end up getting one as a stopgap and then buying another as the gen II's roll out in Q1 2011. I want the OS to succede so I really do not have a major problem with buying two in three months. I'll give the first to my son.
What I'd ideally like:
1.3 GHz processor
Slider qwerty keyboard
16 or 32 Gig internal memory
8mp camera
>3.8 inch screen
For Aussies here. Was talking to a Telstra personel in the main Sydney store opposite Apple store, and he said that he heard that they would be definitely getting the HTC Mondrian, and that the HD3 will officially be called HD7 (Tho did not say whether we'd get it)
Release date, he said it was originally end of this month, then 8th November.
Honestly, I think he's just been reading tech news. Cus the only dates thats been said online were 11th Oct (official release), 21ist Oct (Euro release) and 8th Nov (US release), and cant remember the 8th Nov being pushed back date.
Anywho, he said realistically expect the phones to come out in 2-3months... which suck cus I was expecting Australia to get it before anywhere else (a rumour i read online).
Was thinking of moving to Telstra from vodafone, because Ive heard NextG murders all the other telco's in speed and coverage... But if I'm forced to wait that long, I might just get a sammy device on ebay once it becomes available, tho it'll most likely only support the 900mhz band (voda, 3 and optus).

Not sure, he couldnt really confirm anything only from what he's heard, but like i said, I reckon he's just been reading online news. Yep I've seen that, I love the design, but not a fan of the portrait keyboard, plus its abit too thick for my liking and supposedly the Dell wont be one of the first few handsets to come out (might be in the second wave of handsets first half of 2011. I've got my eyes on the Omnia7 which might be a WP7 version of the Galaxy S, and hopefully be released this year.
Only about 8 more days til WP7's official release in london, so hopefully devices will be confirmed then . I'm still gonna hope for the sammy to have a hummingbird processor, or the HTCs to somehow have the Adreno 205 GPU. Fingers crossed.

When the TP2 (Tilt2 for me) was released, I bought one the first day I was able. I am running the recently released OEM ROM and this has been the best device I have ever owned. I am very happy with my Tilt2.
There are several issues which will need to be proven incorrect or resolved predicating that I maintain a wait-and-see posture. Some of these will be deal breakers. In inverse order of importance they are:
Rumored incompatibility with Outlook – Contacts, Calendar, and Notes!
Rumored inability to tether – I frequently use the Tilt2 as a modem for my laptop.
Not having a removable SD card
Downward compatibility – will the OS run WM6 programs, or will I have to find/research/purchase all new software programs.
I’m not certain I am ready to give up my hard keyboard yet. I’d like to see a “TP7” – something with a hard keyboard, and larger CPU and display.
I will be cautiously researching these issues for remedies or suitable work-arounds prior to investing in this technology.

My Tilt needs to be put to rest, I plan to get the HTC Mondrian. Even though I was expecting better specs, such as a newer processor and front facing camera, the phone is a major upgrade from my current one. I do remove my SD card a lot, but not having one is something I can deal with and same with the amount of storage. But overall, I'm looking forward to the phone and OS.

Cruzer,
At least you have Telstra Staff that are reading and know about these phones! Here in Brisbane it's shocking. They either know about them and have been told not to tell anyone about them or they just plain don't know anything!
I even had one guy in the City Store plain out lie to me cause he had know idea at all, saying Nokia had a model coming (N8) which was what Telstra was stocking at launch and that all current WinMo 6.5/6.1 phone could get an update. LOL! Just told him he had no idea and walked off!

Speed up s-off (unlocked bootloader) update

Facebook and Twitter is the only way to speed up unlocked bootloader process guys. You want publicity, not private conversation. So it's quite pointless emailing htc, we had a win, now we need to make sure that potential customers are aware that HTC is taking it's time in keeping their word, so they hold back on the purchase. If sales figures drop, HTC will pull the finger out and will HAVE to do something about it. PUBLICITY. REPUTATION. SALES. That's what we need to address. Make sure that you mention that even average Joe which doesn't want root can be affected, as if company doesn't keep up to promises, they do it to EVERYONE. Mention that they lied about Desire getting GB (well, calling it lie is exaggerating a bit, but we want to make it look bad, and I hope you heard the news), so average Joe can't expect to have his HTC phone to be up to date for the whole length of the contract (normally 24month in UK). Make customers think before buying, even if takes only one week for all the customers to decide, HTC will definitely notice it, and will realize what sort of impact small group of unhappy customers can cause.
Also, as a lot of us hang out in other forums (i still pop in to Desire forum now and again), i suppose we could start threads there with links to this one, or just quoting it, so we get a lot more people to help us (we are a small group of Sensation owners in the end of the day). I do believe that even Sammy, LG, MOTO etc. owners will be sympathetic to our cause and will help us to become louder.
THANKS LADS.
Erm... I got lost somewhere in this but from your first sentence, HTC are unlocking their bootloaders. I don't get what this whole thing is about.
Yeah, I don't get this either. Are you asking for Unlocked Bootloaders like Meaple suggested? If so you are about a month behind. Already been announced. If not, I'm lost.
KYI
I'm a very patient person. I did wait for unlocked bootloader quietly, but seeing how HTC is messing about with us ( GB update for desire ) I lost all the trust in them. So my thought is to put as much pressure on HTC as we can, or they will assume we forgot about it and will let it go on and on and on.... My 2c.

It's been mentioned, not announced. I believe announcement involves ETA.

Sensation will probably get an unlocked bootloader with the next (bigish?) update.
Same with Flyer perhaps if that is locked?
other devices will probably not be updated unless there's another big update - as it stands the people that were threatening to leave to SGS2 were the ones targeting the sensation and sensations bootloader - with all the rooting abilities in the wild at the moment - what's the point of changing the rules and playing field? just leave them be to use unrevoked and alpharev etc. ?
Personally I'm thinking that I'm happy with the thoughts of an eventual unlocked bootloader policy, open source for sense bits, and a possible update to the desire, (being the last update we'll see!)
Anyone get the feeling that sometimes if you ask for too much in one go you get nothing at all?
I completely understand what you are saying Lothaen. I had same opinion untill i heard about all that Desire GB business. It confused me a lot. What was the point? Anyway, while i'm a big htc fan, all i've seen from them so far is just talk. I do understand that releasing updates takes time, but i feel if they actually were in the process of doing it, at least they could release an explanation of how they are planning to do it, and why it will take some time. See, some communication does wonders sometimes. At the moment to me it looks like a dad/mum who can't be bothered to explain things to the child sort of a conversation.
Customer: i'm not happy, i want unlocked bootloader,
HTC: you can't have it
Customer: tantrum on the floor
HTC: ok you can have it ("just shut up")
Customer: any idea when please?
HTC: you'll have it....
Customer: i want my GB update for a Desire too, you promised
HTC: no, you are not having it ("not bothered to make an effort")
Customer: tantrum on the floor
HTC: ok ok ok, have it
Customer: but when?
HTC: you'll have it.....
Don't really mind about Desire, as it's unlocked so we can do whatever we want to it, but a lot of customers are not rooted, so they are stuck.
No company explains things. They can have a road map or what ever it's called but that's about it. You can ask them personally when stuff will get released but you will get "soon". That's how it is and always will be with ANY company. Don't just think it's HTC. I think they are a wonderful company that release some really nice products. Just because in the past 2 months they have said something twice and people have responded badly to it and demanded them to change their decision doesn't make them a bad company. It just merely suggests that that company has made a mistake and changed it's mind. If they turn out products that there is no unlocked bootloader or they won't release an update like they said they would then their reputation would massively go down, they inevitably would lose sales and would be back to square 1.
And as you nicely put
but a lot of customers are not rooted, so they are stuck.

they have the option to root their phone. Not just for the Desire but other phones as well.
I seriously don't get it. You seem to have some personal hatred for the company just because they have made 2 mistakes and them mistakes have been rectified.... seriously now.
Oh no, there is no hatred. Sorry if it sounds like that. As i said, I'm a big HTC fan, and I love their devices.
What confuses me, is all these promises, then u-turns, then u-turns on u-turns.
I should have probably explained that this is a copy/paste from Sensation forum. All I would like to achieve is HTC to speed up unlocking process, or at least give us some information. We are a minority (people who root phones ) so we have to involve an average Joe to be noticed. Quick promise without any more information I just can't consider as a serious statement.
At the moment it looks like they are trying to shut up people who are not happy with thing HTC are doing, so their Facebook page is not filled with negative comments. Saying that, some of the posts are atrocious, I always say that swearing doesn't get you anywhere.
Absolutely love my Desire, especially after rooting it, so Sensation didn't really live up to expectations. I truly believe that devs can improve it x-fold.

Well it is how it is and you can't change that. I think when a company goes back on itself in a good way for the customers is a good thing and you should expect good things. Like I said, company's will say something and then not release any information really. They might when it's close to releasing it but other than that it stays quiet. Purely because other competitive company's will keep tabs on each other. It's just a matter of waiting really.
Have to disagree with your first sentence. We did force them to change their decision on locked bootloader (i hope) so things can be changed if a lot of people ask for it.

I totally agree that you want the sensation unlocking and that'll come 'soon' (hehe)
big outcry number 1 achieved that goal - shouting about it to get it sooner is probably not going to help.
as someone said htc didn't really have to go back on their decisions - and a lot of companies probably wouldn't have anyway - but the Sensation is brand new still - in fact it isn't even available here till next week on any network apart from vodafone if I read rightly - so you'll probably have to give them a month or two.
You know when you buy a PC game (or probably xbox and ps3) and as soon as you install it it says you must download a hotfix or patch and its day 1 of release, you think 'geez, they have to patch something so soon - why did they release it so early?' Well I guess it's the same sort of thing - technically the Sensation isn't broken so they don't want to make it look like they did a bad job - give it a month or two and you'll probably get the update which will unlock - or if lucky the unbranded/non-vodafone handsets might be unlocked anyway?
Then it's probably also down to the network again to push the updates out after htc release them so more delays...
So all in all I think you just need to give it a bit of time
Unfortunatly, this is how businesses work. Old models get left by the wayside = More revenue for new devices. If Microsoft constantly updated Windows we would all still be on Windows 95. But, they stop support to force your hand into buying a newer version. HTC are no Different.
Personally, from a business point of view and not my personal view, its a sound business model. MAKE people buy your latest and greatest releases.
Unfortunatly, HTC have more support then I think they realised and HAD to give in to pressure, but I don't think it will continue for the forseeable future. I think they decided to ride the crest of a wave while it was till good.

I know where you are coming from, but Microsoft supported Win95 for more than a year or two...
Also Win XP's support has been extended because so many people are using it on the same wavelength.
a 24 month contract and a phone that is out of support in less than that - it's no wonder people are grieved...
It'd be nice to get 18 months support on a phone, and after that you can almost expect it to be old hat.
I wouldn't expect any updates after GB (maybe a bugfix if there are any)

True, Microsoft support is more then 2 years, but their releases are not (At least not far behind). The Reason support is less (occasionally) then 24 months is due to the carriers. The Contract is 24 months at Vodafone/Orange/O2 ect Discression, not HTC's.
You CAN get a Desire on 12 Month contracts, but you pay more for the handset first off. Most people have CHOSEN a 24 month contract as the Handset is subsidized over the 24 months. HTC are not obliged to release updates for 24 months, if you have a 24 Month contract (I do) then that is your choice (It was mine)
Either Way, IMO, Gingerbread is a Bonus, not a right on HTC's part

aren't manufacturers (soon to be) suppose to be supporting a device with updates (unless hardware prevents) for 18 months, as mentioned by google... probably not in place yet though but...
anyway yes I think GB is a bonus.
I think if HTC said from the start that GB wasn't coming they wouldn't have had this massive public moan about it being declined at the last minute probably would have been a much smaller moan
I chose to buy my handset outright and have a rolling 1month contract - meaning it cost me £400 to get the phone, as I was peeved by the HTC Touch HD / Blackstone on a 24 month contract only for it to be out of support almost instantly, no upgrade to 6.5 (without custom rom), and also the HD2 came out about 6 months later...
Every one keeps saying "well they dont have to support it its already over 12 months old"
You keep forgetting that HTC just released the desire in north america in August of 2010. Dropping support for a device thats just over 6 months old is not a good move on their part.
And that is a very valid point.

Just a general thread, have you pre-ordered the One X yet? Vote in the Poll

Really considering this, my first Android was the DHD and loved it. Been on the SGS2 since launch but this One X something about it that is making me want it.

I would go for it (well, obviously I would say that as I have pre-ordered it!)
However, the only issue for me has been battery life but with mobile chargers I decided that wouldn't be an issue. If you are not fussed about getting it on release, you could simply wait for the S3 announcement and decide between the two - although the One X camera will be hard to beat imo - the features anyway.
I've "registered my interest" with Vodafone. They're going to call me when it's available. Hopefully I'm one of the 1st in the queue.
not due for an upgrade until mid May, so I'm going to hold out to see if any major issues appear before I either upgrade or jump ship to another provider.
about 98% sure I will be getting one though
I think the options of the poll don't cover everything, my selection would be:
No, but considering to pre-order very soon...
I'm not 100% sure what is stopping me... I'd like to see an official announcement about beats, I'd be interested to know if the deluxe set would be released in UK, I'd like to know for sure what the final price would be (I'm going to be purchasing phone sim free).
I'm also changing companies in 5 months time and maybe they have different policies on phones so maybe I should wait... but then I could always sell it...
Also when I bought my HTC Desire maybe 6 months later they announced the Desire HD, so part of me also wonders if a new flagship will be released in 6 months time and maybe I should wait as I'm not in desperate need of a new phone... but on the other hand I cant think of anything that I need that isn't on the HTC One X and if I did buy it then I plan on it being my phone for the next 2 years.
The HTC One X looks good, I would really like to get back to Android sooner or later (WP7 is not for me...), I really want a HTC phone so GS3 is not an option for me.
So I'm more than likely going to pre-order I just haven't hit the submit button yet...

Firstly, apologies I didn't think of the million different potential options.
Also, if you wait for the "next best thing" all the time, you will NEVER get a new phone?

I assume with the clear case on it, there will be no issues with colour..

I use clove.uk. Handtec is good as well although they take your money upfront and lie about when it will be released. There is no tax. Clove.uk will send DHL for a minimal rate. Prices are very similar. There are other options as well.
I purchased from eBay on a pre-order auction from a reputable seller. The reason I did this is because I had a 10 percent off coupon for the electronics category. I ended up getting a black one out the door for 656 including shipping.
Suddenly I am interested in the S3, if the March 30th event is to be believed..
Still got my One X on pre-order - would anyone cancel and swap to the S3 if it is good enough?
Yes, the grey version!
I find it hard to wait for 2 weeks. Im looking forward
till the first real reviews!
Yeah!
i pre-ordered it on CLOVE TECHNOLOGY in UK (grey version) and is more cheapest than other sites
In Netherlands the price is already as low as € 545 excluding shipping. I wonder what price does after the release? I really want it. I think even though high price it must be worth. Ofcourse when waiting the price will go down, but keeping mine evo 3d until the price is dropped by like maybe € 100 then mine Evo 3D would be dropped in price even more.

Meh... I prefer HTC, but it isn't that simple. The GS2 produced arguably one of the best dev communities ever. That phone was spec'd out like a beast too. While I don't believe it was/is the end all be all, it deserves a lot of the attention it gets. Samsung put a lot of good hardware in, and they also ship their phones with unlocked bootloaders. Unlike HTC that is becoming less and less dev friendly...

[Q] what date have dial a phone said for delivery

as title says.they told me 11th April
same here, told me on the phone the 7th but my email confirmation says the 11th.
Also the 11th for my order with dialaphone. Seems like everyone got the same date. Still if it comes sooner then that's great.
11th for me too.
Mine says 11th too, shows credit check passed. They've also taken payment for the handset.
this is mainly due to bank holiday weekends ofcourse. Never mind few days more will not kill you.
Tad confused now, found this on their FB page.
Dialaphone Hi Mike, Thanks for your post. The expected delivery date for all HTC One X handsets is the 12th April. Let me know if you have any further questions and have a great day. Cheers, Espi.

11th for me as well on the Vodafone contract. Don't mind waiting a few extra days but would be nice to get it before Easter holidays, doubt that will happen!
It may possibly come earlier.
This late date might be for the stats as proof they have 'exceeded customers' expectations' by delivering earlier than promised. Who knows, it may have a 'stretch target' to exceed delivery times to qualify for a bonus.
On the other hand, they might be telling the truth

They have probably been given a script and their calls will be listened to and QC'd to check they stick to it. I suspect the first we will hear if its an earlier date is an email saying its shipping.
so, after paying vodafone to bring my commitment date earlyer so i can upgrade, i went through dialaphone purely because voda was asking far too much,
so i went for a white one x voda upgrade

delivery i was told would be the 7th. that was today at lunch i made the order,

purchased my screen protecters already,in car kit, home dock tooo,
sorry to ramble on lol, cheers,
I ordered my One X through Dialaphone almost 2 weeks ago now, I did call and speak to a gent just before ordering and he said they where due them in on the 7th, which if your not aware is Good Friday, if this is true then they probably won't ship till the following Tuesday after Easter Monday. That would make delivery date the 11th which is what everyone's order probably does say!
I live in hope that they may come in a day earlier and MAYBE come on the Friday/Saturday but it is unlikely so I am just banking on the 11th, itll be far less disppointing that way
I don't know why companies like HTC choose such a stupid time to release handsets. They could have chose any week, instead they choose Easter week. So annoying, lol.
But you are right, all these conspiracy theories about the phones being shipped late due to branding are probably all a load of crap. It's just the lack of days available to deliver due to the holidays that is causing the delays.
It's still not to say obviously that some phones could be branded, but lets hope not.
