Goldcard Question

Hey guys, new to android and have a Gold Card question. Ive searched but can't seem to find an answer. (Maybe i just havnt tried enough.) Anyways here it is:
When you create a goldcard do you have it in your phone the entire time or do you just plug in the card alone to the computer without the phone? Might be a stupid question...but anyway. Thanks for an answer.
I flash with the gold card and then put my regular card in after I shutdown once the flash is complete.
borgen92, i guess, you was searching for that one.....

I have another question.. What is gold card at all? I really don't have any idea about what you are talking about
I'm used to wm and its language (hspl, etc...), now I'm trying to understand android world and customize my brand new desire.
Thank you
as i understood, you have to write a special MBR (or similar) to your SDCard. That will then allow you to flash a ROM with a different CID, and it will also make it possible to recover a bricked device.

Cannot create gold card. Please help

I used the 2gb sd card come with the HTC Desire to make the gold card. Follow all the procedure properly, just that, after using HxD to change the hex value and save, take out the card, put in again, windows require to format it (means card cannot be used). Try many times, still the same.
Some body says that we can create gold card using the sd card come with Desire.
Is there any work around (using other hex editor to change, or different procedure to do) ? I dare not buy another card since I will not know whether it works or not, no point buying a lot of card just to find the one that can be goldcard, am I right?
So really need your help to fix this, bro.
Only some cards work. U need to try another card.
I had an old 256mb card that worked.... them were the days huh!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

will my card still b able to be used as a gold card incase i need to ruu flash in the future?
You'll have to go through the whole process again to make it into a goldcard if you wish to use it as a standard SD card unfortunately.

Buy yourself a cheap 1GB or 512mb sdcard off eBay for the goldcard purpose and then have it locked away somewhere
So, if I have a gold card, and i want to use it as normal SD card, i need to format it via computer ? And everything will be as default ?

Unlocking a Locked SD Card

Tip: [if you dont want to read the whole post just read those in bold]
Back those days when i had a Nokia 6220 Classic i put a 4 GB SD card in it and copied the musics i liked and the playlists i had made into it. Then, i had a problem with the phone and until it got prepared i took the SD card out and put it somewhere safe for two weeks.... only to find that my SD card has been locked with a password!!!! DOH!
I didnt find any solutions except formatting then so i kept the SD in hope of a day that i might find some help. Now that i have an android, Is there any way android can help me unlock my card without wiping out the information in it?
Thanks In Advance

google sd card password reset?

Do you need SD card to mod?

Hi guys
Apologies for this basic question but im trying to determine whether or not you do need an SD card or not to start putting on custom ROMs??
I have just upgraded from HTC One X and that didnt have an SD slot, but the internal storage was partitioned i think so i was able to just put zips onto the SD partition and do it that way.
Is the M8 the same or is this a phone where I definately need an SD card as there is a slot for one??
Ive done a bit of searching but cant quite find the answer.
Thanks :good:
