128MB HTC Universal for sale! - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

Reluctantly I have to sell my beloved Universal, mainly because I have bought another CE device (Smartbook G138), and I find it not very easy to maintain two such powerful devices with overlapping functions. It would be good to find a new home for this buddy. I used to be a collector of small devices but now real life (work and family) compels me to go frugal and simple and stay focused on practical matters.
General condition (appearance only): 7/10, w/ normal wear, no broken parts or cracks or lines, etc
Screen: Super bright (i need to set to the lowest backlight most of the time ) and with NO problems (e.g. dimming, yellowish, lines, etc.) at all! w/ scratch-proof screen protector on.
Casing: The device was originally in European silver casing, but then I changed it to O2 Exec black, while keeping the silver keyboard with red backlight, which looks very cool to me (like a volcano in the dark )
RAM: And most importantly it has already been upgraded to a whopping 128MB of RAM, which DOES make a clear difference in performance than the original 64MB.
All other features: phone, wifi, bluetooth, camera, mic, speaker, d-pad, card slot are fully operational with no issue.
ROM: It is now running the rock solid Tomal v8.9 (128 version), which is free of issue of using wifi WPA found in the older builds (e.g. 8.1, 8.5)
Power supply: one 4800mAh (Cameron Sino) and one 1600mAh (Momax). Both hold very good charge, esp. the Momax one which was bought just two months ago and imho it's the best quality battery I've ever used.
AC charger included.
Shipping: will sell worldwide from Hong Kong.
One issue - lately the post regulations have been tightened in order to follow the latest ICAO policies, such that all rechargeable batteries are prohibited to ship via airmail. So my suggestion is to send the device via airmail (EMS is preferred), and the two batteries via surface mail (generally taking ~4 weeks). You only need to pay for the airmail part, and I will cover the cost of surface mail.
(probably express couriers are okay here, but i have to check).
I still have the original european packaging including the box so if you prefer I can pack everything using the original packaging, which I think is the safest.
Price & payment: I am asking for 150 Euros (net price, shipping not included). Paypal only.
PM me if interested. Will respond within the same day (GMT+8). Pictures can be provided upon request.
Thanks!!

I will buy it. I really need this. Please PM me what info is needed or send the invoice to [email protected]

Replacement screws, lcd, speakers, covers, KB, buttons, LINK

First I am not associated with this seller, so I have no pony in this fight.
But I have seen a great number of request on the board for the screws, speakers, etc. I found this old link from my Yorch cooked rom days with SX-56 and extra ram upgrades, I can't vouch for them so YMMV.
They also seem to have a replacement for the touchscreen for $149

Does anyone know of a place that I can find a BLACK bezel (cover)? I see them in Europe, but all I have over here in the USA is the dorky-boring Sprint silver.
Thanks!

Great lil' Zaurus clamshell replacement, same size display, faster CPU, SD slot, built-in WiFi, BT, and cellphone (with your SIM card...).
As you probably know, you can either run it with WindowsMobile or follow the instructions on the Debian forums over at OESF.org to install TitchyMobile (Debian) to have a Linux install on a SD card!
Have only used it for a few hours at most, so really like new and I put a Brando Workshop UltraClear screen protector on it (included with sale of Uni) and keep in stored in a case, so, again really like new....
You'll get everything that came with including the original box, CD, manual, cables, AC adapter...
I have $375 into the Uni, asking $265 plus shipping.
You can purchase just the HTC Uni or with one or more of the following accessories:

GPS problems - fixed!

There has been a couple of very long threads about fixing/improving the GPS on the DHD
Various methods - (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757741)
and (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318892), aluminum foil, soldering steel wire or copper wire to the phone.
I have had my phone for over two years, used just about every ROM on here, and for the past few months am using this brilliant one
[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies / Releases [SR1] on nightly 17.07 which is perfect.
As it is now working so well, I wanted my phone to look like the day I bought it, so I purchased the FULL set of covers inc the main shell.
Everything seemed fine at first, but the GPS did not work at all. It had worked perfectly before from day one with every ROM!
Close inspection, (very close inspection, USB microscope) revealed that there was hardly any gold conductive paint on the GPS cover contacts (open circuit), and also the other two covers barely any. There is no metal under that gold paint!
If you see any black marks on the gold - THAT IS THE PLASTIC UNDERNEATH - so nothing will work correctly.
I ordered another new set of genuine covers, which were perfect. GPS is better than before, network signal better (I think that is the sim card cover antenna. Not sure what antenna is on the battery cover?
I studied the above threads and the general conclusion is, (for those who haven't already screwed up their phones by soldering)
buy a NEW flash lens/GPS antenna cover! the DHD hardware is perfect. (actually IMO all covers should be replaced)
If you want better GPS you buy something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-H...K_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item20b8394021
and not the whole housing lol.
If you want your phone to look like new that's fine, but it's not related to GPS more than fo this single flash cover.

Thanks for your reply, but is is definitely related to GPS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101066
Also thanks for your suggestion to purchase just the "Antenna-Camera-Flash-Cover" "for better GPS", (That part houses the GPS antenna!)
But as mentioned in my statement above, I wanted the whole thing to look like new.
Many DHD owners have various antenna problems, (WiFi, GPS, Network) believing it is a software problem rather than being related to the three plastic covers, which also incorporate the antennas. (it is probably the worst thing about these phones, as the contacts on them are nothing more than conductive paint)
I don't use eBay. I called one of the 1000's of phone part suppliers here, and the following day the parts arrived. Total cost including shipping £8.90 LOL!
I'm also looking to 're-new' my DHD.
I've bought a new battery, and SD card, and am using the JellyTime ROM, which I've found to be the smoothest so far, and I'm waiting on my replacement covers at the minute.
Its such an incredible phone, which I've had for 3 years now, and it'd be such a shame to discard it for a newer model, as I have no justifiable reason to do so.
Everything still works, and it does just as much as the newer models. So why change?
As you said, it costs merely £8.99 to make the phone look like new (I bought mine from eBay, and paid the same, inc postage). And it cost me around £20 for the SD card and battery, and you've virtually got a new handset.
Just turned down an upgrade on it, in favour of a sim-only contract, which is insanely cheaper than the one I was on before.
The DHD has such a stable build that it can actually save you a lot of money, so long as you don't care about keeping up-to-date with the trends.
As for the GPS issue, I've not had any problems up to now, using the stock model, despite many knocks and drops, but I am aware that the antennae are contained in the covers.
People list this as an issue with the DHD, however, I find that it makes it easier to fix when you encounter a problem. Again, the replacement part is reasonably cheap.
Glad to find another DHD lover, refusing to give up on their model!

I totally agree with you Alkerino! There is no point to upgrade it yet just to keep up with the latest trends. If it is working fine, has a stable fast ROM, it makes sense regarding saving a lot of money on renewing your contract. I will not be upgrading mine for a long time :good:

Official Accessories Hoped to be Released by January 2016

In case anyone has been wondering, Wilyfox have advised me that they are hoping to have their official accessories available by January 2016. I am guessing that the accessories are probably subject to the vagaries of timing of shipments from China and clearance by HM Customs. For details they recommend registering on their site to be advised of their availability.
Can't wait, it feels a bit vulnerable without a case, I'd like a window flip cover integrated into the back cover (like my Samsung galaxy S4) with auto screen on/ off.
I'm excited for the official accessories as well Although, I'm getting my hopes up mostly for a few extra cables. The frost case looks really cool and hopefully down the line there will back covers as well with that color option..
As for the auto screen on/off, I don't believe the Swift has this functionality. I used a fridge magnet to test it and the Swift doesn't respond at all while it works like a charm on both my Nexus 7s 2012/2013.
Auto screen on off can use the proximity sensor, I did on my mi4. I also use it on the wileyfox but it is less useful as the proximity sensor is on the right very close to the top of the screen so pulling the notification bar down often results I spurious activation
My main accessory would be if Wileyfox can sell additional batteries for the Swift. Maybe even a higher capacity one? One can only hope they will release a higher capacity battery for this great device! :good:
The first official accessories are available as well as a white version of the Swift. The cases are sold from Clove.co.uk (can't post links yet)
Lets see what else will be released
any news about accessories and where to buy them ?
The official cases for the Swift are sold through Clove. Although 3rd party ones seem to be better.
I just saw that on amazon uk, they have listed the battery banks- 27 gbp a pop for 10000mAh. I dig the looks and maybe will get one later on just to compare it to my RavPower 16000mAh powerbank.
No word on spare batteries or cables... I don't know if spare batteries are available for the sister models (General Mobile 4G, Cherry Mobile G1, etc).
PS: I am wrong about "No word on spare batteries". They did tweet about it a few weeks ago: https://twitter.com/Wileyfox/status/703933881490268160
