What to do now ? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hi,
I tried to load a HardSPL on my Diamond but it went wrong somehow.
My Diamond was stuck at 75% and everything went blank.
Now I can't power it up and even if I put in the power supply doesn't lid up the light of charging.
Is it dead? Can I throw it away? Or is there something I can do ?
THX

may sound stupid but have you tried to remove the battery

Did you tried a hard reset ??
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_diamond_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html

1. download a new rom
2. put your vol down + soft reset button (or power button).
you should come in a color screen?
3. now start customRUU and let is flash.
4. Voila ur device is recovered

No, it doesn't do anything.
No power up
Doesn't charge.
Nothing.

How old is your device? Diamond was launched in may 2008 so a big change it isn't older then 2 years. In europe HTC devices come standard with a 24 months warranty.
You could send it in for repair in that case, and since the device isn't booting at all, the changes HTC detects that it died during a 'warranty destroying' procedure are not that big. And if they do they will contact you prior to actual repairing/making costs.
Before throwing it away you could give this a try, nothing to loose huh?

Diamond dead during hard spl update

HI all! It will be more then great if anybody can help me.
The story is simple one guy decide to unlock his Diamond throw some free way ( I don't know how exectly ) he end with error 260 and DEAD Diamond.
The device does not get into bootloader when pressing Vol_- + reset.
Now this Diamond in my hands.
Can anyone please advice what can I do? can I flash ROM?
P.S. this phone are new and Orange UK branded.
Please help and sorry for my poor English.

You mention you can not get into boot loader by pressing
Vol_- + reset.

On the Diamond you can access bootloader by jsut reseting and holding down the "Vol Down" Key only...
Try this and report back.
Where is this error 260 indicated ? If the ROM starts up and shows some error, the bootloader will work for sure.
Cya,
Viper BJK
try to make an hard reset by press vol down + central button + reset.
maybe you have to use mtty but I can't help you cause I never use it...

2. with a fully charged battery, reset your device (hard reset) press Volume down + centre round button + soft reset(behind battery cover) all at the same time, release soft reset but keep holding volume down + centre button. You should now have a white screen advising you what to do to complete the hard reset.

Only to make a bit easy this step cause in this way one would be an octopus , soft reset your device with stylus and then, within 3 seconds, hold Vol down + centre round button until you see the tricolour screen. Release the buttons and follow the instructions (Press Vol Up to restore to manufactured settings).
This is the typical case when someone didnt do his homework. Im sure you didnt read the stickies. Poeple be warned, flashing your device can kill it if you dont have a clue on what you are doing. Ive seen a bunch of n00bs bricking their devices just because the didnt read the forum. This question has been ansewred a lot.

Error 260 is a USB communication error. Did this happen during sim unlock or during hardspl install because the thread title says one thing and your post says another.

i think there's no warranty because i install hard-spl and my custom rom
just bring it to a service centre
most technicians at the service centers wont even bother to check the software... just bring your purchase receipt the whole ****ing box. tell them it was not turning on after a full nights worth of charging and you have not install any third party apps.
i think there's a hardware failure and even the techs at the service centre wont even know because the the phone is an absolute brick now...
play the symphaty card. use your warranty.
I not sure but maybe you can try;
takeout your battery,
press and hold the reset,
and now insert back your battery.
goodluck
connect to main power supply and leave 5 mins to charge... try to boot...
just an idea...

Just to ask: You're not (accidentally) holding down the volume key when you press the power key (or reset) to turn on, are you? That puts it into bootloader.

No, I'm not doing that
I thought maybe it got stuck though, something like that :s but when I do press it, I hear a pretty clear "click", so I guess it's not broken at all...
Also, I noticed that when I try to reflash a ROM, the "current image" (or whatever it's called) is blank ...
(I mean the thing that sais the version number of the currently installed rom)
Okay, sounds dumb I know, but did you flash a new rom after flashing Task29?
It is used to wipe the OS out completely BUT you then have to re-install a new OS...
Just thought I'd ask.....
Same issues.
Same issues on my touch pro 2.
The only solution i find in order to make it boot is with mtty on a Windows xp pc with no activesync.
Perform a
set 14 0
task 8
then the phone boot on the os but on the next reset stay in bootloader !

Hummm i have see somwhere a howto for mtty on W7... but i'm a little lazy i have choose to do this on a old windows xp
But this command are just temporary i'm searching for something more stable !
Some news from my Rhodium Stuck in bootloader
I have try to Hardspl it (Olinex 0.85)
The good news is i have manage to do it, the bad news is after that even the
set 14 0
don't manage to make it boot.
After a while searching, (thanks wiki of another phone) i have find those command :
password BsaD5SeoA
set 14 0 # Maybe it's usless now but in fact i don't know
set 1 0
task 8
And now i'm back to my start....
I tried using the MTTY commands, and when I did it the first time, the phone booted and performed its "first run setup" thing.
After rebooting though, it went back to the tricolor screen, and I can't get past it anymore, even with the same MTTY commands ...
Any other ideas ? :/
mtty, a lot of post on the internet...
hi,
I think we are a the same point !
I have find a way to start a boot with the HTC screen but the phone tel me that a txt file is missing on the sd card ???!!!???
with mtty :
boot
yes it's quite simple why i haven't think of that befor i don't know... but that didn't solve my problem at all.
I have send a mail to HTC in order to have a diferent point of view but all they said to me is doing a hard reset (who didn't do anything...)
I will post the avancement of my test but i feel a little stuck.
Note : After searchin on the internet, the set 14 0 tel to the phone to boot on the os after a flash (sometime the phone don't reconize the end of flash)
the set 16 0 (or set 16 1) disable (or enable) the RUUNBH tag on boot loader.
More Infos...
I have find a post on a other forum whos said that a defective battery could result to an unstable beaviour of the phone.

Oke, I will try to take out the battery tomorrow as well ... Although, I tried using a different battery and it didn't help ...
Right now, I managed to boot using mtty set 14 0 > task 8, which seems to work

[Q] DHD is dead? No bootloader anymore

Who think he/she can help me?
I was trying to completely clean my DHD for my girlfriend. So I wiped is all off via all the information on this forum.
Tried to flash ROM, RUU, Bootloader and Kernel. (after some advices)
Now I have a big problem I think....
I cannot get into my bootloader anymore, my DHD is starting with HTC logo and then continues with Android startup and keep hanging in there.
Vol. down + Power is not getting me into bootloader.
Flashing from CMD does not seem to work either because I cannot get the DHD to connect via USB. (cable is connected to DHD and laptop)
If you can help me.... my girlfriend and I would be much gratefull.

what i know is accessed to the phone bootloader it just have two optional way..
first...with pressing and hole volume down+power
second..with adb command while the phone is already booting inside the rom..and off course with already enabling USB debugging too in system settings..
if both way doesn't work to access your bootloader...i think the last change is you must flashing it again the from beginning with RIFF BOX hardware and JTAG software if you have it..or take the phone to services center of HTC..
sorry...can't help more than this..

Does your phone vibrate (4x or 7x) when you turn it on?
It vibrates ones when showing the HTC startup logo.
I am gonna try
what i know is accessed to the phone bootloader it just have two optional way..
first...with pressing and hole volume down+power
second..with adb command while the phone is already booting inside the rom..and off course with already enabling USB debugging too in system settings..
if both way doesn't work to access your bootloader...i think the last change is you must flashing it again the from beginning with RIFF BOX hardware and JTAG software if you have it..or take the phone to services center of HTC..
sorry...can't help more than this..

I am gonna look where to get this software.
Going to a HTC service centrer wont help I think..... Isnt it like "changing the software yourself will exclude HTC help"??

I cannot try this, because I dont have a RIFF box. This is hardware.

yap..RIFFBOX is a flashing hardware..
yes i know..if you already broken your phone cause of changing software by your self..htc will not recover your phone under they warranty
you already had loosing your phone warranty.. but i think that's not mean they can't help and fix your phone..off course without warranty (if they already know or detected that you already fault your warranty) then they will charge you with some of cost..
if so..with the hope of luck..then you can try brought your phone to the htc service center..then let they're analyst your phone and make decision about your valid warranty..who knows you already lucky then they don't know what are you already do it previously to that phone..
note : this all mean that's if your DHD is still recover under warranty by time..right..
hopefully your DHD will fixed soon..and good luck..
