Recovery Customization Engine version 2.5 - Color,Background,ProgressBar Mod !!! - Hero, G2 Touch Android Development

Hey,
Versions supported for colormod :
MAGIC/HERO/DREAM - 1.7 (Waiting for 1.7 sources )
Nexus - 1.7
Versions supported for noncolormod :
All recoveries, even koush's except you wont see the difference cuz he never calls on the png's
Thanks to amon_ra for his recovery and thanks to all those he thanked
Script is based on the dev kitchen by dsixda. I removed everything that was not needed for this task.
Requirements : Device drivers properly installed
Windows Operating System
Instructions :
1. Download the 7z file and extract.
2. You will get 3 folders and 2 batch files.
3. Run either batch.
INFO:
Noncolormod just allows you to change background image and progressbar
Colormod batch does what the noncolormod does + allows you to customize the colors inside the recovery
Guys 2 tips :
1. If image is layered please flatten it in photoshop or edit in paint.
2. Use this tool to configure a range of colors. Just grab the decimal values and feed in the script.
FYI: This will not work with Koush's recovery as he ignores the background png
PS : Donot ask for assitance from amonra if you are using the repackaged recovery image produced by this script. He WILL ignore u
PS : I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE OF FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. I EXPECT A DECENT LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING/TECHNICAL ABILITIES FROM THOSE WHO ARE USING THIS SCRIPT.

Awesome. I'll try this later

2. Use this tool to configure a range of colors. Just grab the decimal values and feed in the script.

trackball no longer works in recovery?

Re: Recovery Background Changer
it shud. make sure ur using 1.6 recovery.

Ok guys, here is the latest one. I need atleast one confirmation that this works for each devices then i will update the main post. I can vouch for 32a users it works very well. Anyway i need confirmation for hero from this part of the forum. Let me know.
Download Here

how do you install ??

You download the file i posted before ur post. Extract it using 7zip. Then download amonra's recovery 1.6 not 1.7 for ur device and place inside the recovery/old folder. Run the colormod/nocolormod and select "How-to" and read to better understand what to do.

trackball doesnt work. it scrolls fine, but pressing the button does nothing.

Hmm ill look into that, im confused because the source for hero/magic recovery is the same so it should work fine. Ill get back to u guys then, imma ask amonra for some advice.

Ok thanks to amonra for pointing me in the right direction. Just a minor variable name change had to take place. I will post the latest update 2nite which will include update-script syntax color change as well as "non background height" dependent progressbar with user customization.

Ok guys update is out. 2 new features + a lot more stable + should work 100% on hero.

Update : supports amonra's newest recovery.

[THEME] PeSSoa Orange XXJVB (04-05-2011) (***NEW VERSION**)

Hi,
I'm a big fan of the best mobile operating system, Android, and after getting adicted to him, i wanted it more personalized as possible.
So i started changing images in the frameworks, but that wasn't enought, so i sarted learning more and more, and now i'm decompiling the apk's and making clean themes.
After a great evolution and learning from the first example, I come here to present my new theme, so more people could try it, and if they want, help me improve it.
___________________________________________________________________
Base:
I didn't liked the light blue stock samsung has so i tried to make a orange version of it.
I'm always trying to improve it, but i'm not very creative so i'm always open to sugestions. So I'll post an update here if something changes.
___________________________________________________________________
Install instructions
Just flash the pack with CWM.
Make sure you pick Stock framework, in case you have any problem you can always revert it.
The first boot after you flash this can take a long time. And I mean a really long time. This doesn't mean its stuck at boot. After that it will boot at normal speed and future updates should also boot faster.
If there is a problem and it does get stuck at boot the phone will vibrate multiple times during the glowing S logo and eventually will go black. If you have that problem then flash your backup, a working theme or your rom again.
If you have issues after the install try to clear the dalvik cahche from recovery.

Suggestions/Tips
If you have suggestions to make it better let me know. Can't promise I can do it but I will look at it.
Using files for your own theme
If you are going to make a theme and post it here you are free to use some files from this theme. If it is a small number of images you can take them. If you are using a lot from it then you are still allowed to use it (would be nice to ask) but at least leave some credits and don't deny it (you know who you are ).

[THEME] CM9 Blue Notification Drawer Widgets

Nothing huge here, but I themed the Notification Drawer Widgets in CM9 to match the blue ICS uses and thought I'd share it with folks since I didn't see it anywhere.
This is a zipthemer file, so you'll need to download it from the Market (it's free) and use it to create the update.zip to flash in CWM. If you want to use this but aren't familiar with zipthemer let me know, I can help you out.
I couldn't get a screenshot but here are some of the icons.

download zipthemer here
*How to use Zipthemer*
note: you may need a ROM of you have flashed (CM9) in order to configure your edify script (this is the script that tells CWM what to do when you run your update.zip file)
1. Install zipthemer!
2. Open up the menu (on ICS it's the 3 vertical dots) and click on update edify (you will only have to do this once)
3. Updating Edify screen (complete either Option 1 or Option 2)
- option 1: browse to the ROM you have on your phone and click it -- done
- option 2: click on download, then exit out of the screen, click options (3 dots), settings, update script format, select your phone. If your phone isn't present, see option 1.
4. Download the zipthemer file (.zip), and using a file explorer, move it to the "zipthemer" folder on your sd card.
5. open zipthemer again, click the "+theme" button, select the theme you want to apply (you can select more than one, or even only certain parts of one)
6. click "*output" button and pick the name you want for your update file (or accept the default). Leave the "-update.zip" at the end of the file name and "/sdcard/" at the beginning so it will be in your sdcard root directory and easier to find when you go to flash it.
7. click "build it!", it will ask you if you want to create a backup file, I usually do just in case so I don't have to re-flash the entire ROM to undo my changes if I want to.
8. Exit zipthemer, reboot to recovery, flash your new zip file, reboot system, enjoy!
more notes:
a. as always, it's a pretty good idea to run a nandroid anytime you play with your system (this is a do as I say, not as I do kinda statement)
b. A lot of these type of themes where some system files are modified or system apps are modified, it's good to do a wipe dalvik/cache
c. if you update your ROM to a new nightly/RC/stable, re-build the zipthemer file. It's likely that this isn't necessary, but unless you know just what the CM team changed it's probably a good idea.
wait can I just flash the zip or do I have to do the zipthemer thing( which i have no idea how to use)?? And also is this zip only for the galaxy nexus or for any CM9 phone .( I'm on Samsung epic 4g)?

You have to do the zipthemer thing, but that's the beauty of it! Because you are using zipthemer, it doesn't matter which CM nightly/RC/stable you're on, zipthemer pulls from the files on your phone and makes an update file for you! And it's really easy to use.
Unfortunately, it doesn't necessarily transfer across devices. And in the case of the Epic 4g, it doesn't. The image files are different sizes. I have downloaded the CM9 files for the Epic 4G/4G Touch and built a zipthemer file for it though (with the exception of the wimax icons, if you use wimax let me know. I don't know if the epic 4G is even wimax capable). I'll post it in the Epic 4G forums.
Also going to post a quick zipthemer tutorial after this post. (added them to the OP)

[THEME] CM9 Blue Notification Drawer Widgets - epic 4G touch

I themed my Galaxy Nexus notification drawer widgets to match the blue in the rest of ICS instead of the default white. I had an Epic 4G visitor ask about doing this for their phone, so I built this Zipthemer file to help y'all out. I don't have an Epic 4G Touch so I couldn't test this out. If you try it let me know if it works, or what doesn't work.
There are two versions. The first one is all the icons changed except the wimax icon. V2 is where I took the wimax icon, tried to theme it to match the others, and used it to replace the LTE icons.

I swapped the LTE and wimax icons and posted the update in the OP (the LTE/wimax swap is v2). Let me know how they look, they were a bit troublesome for me to mod for some reason.

Done. As it turns out, the Epic 4g/4G Touch file will work for the Photon as well. Same images, same image size. Nonetheless, I posted it in the Photon forum as well for other users to find. Here's the link

Thanks, and
Good question, the background I used is actually cut from one of my favorite PS3 wallpapers.
-Someone would have to write an xml for it to display in landscape, I have seen it but cant find it now.(I believe it was a twrp for tablets) When I find it again I will try to port it for GN2's.
Sweet... that would be sweet if it was scrollable like the real xmb screen
Hey Twansky. What do you think I may be doing wrong? I downloaded the file to my pc. Plugged in phone navigated to phone memory found the TWRP folder which was completely empty, made a folder, named it theme and placed the downloaded file into the folder. File said ui.zip. Booted to recovery and nothing. Even hit the refresh theme or whatever it says in advanced options and no go. Thanks Twansky. Saw you were on so figured I would ask you even though your not the OP
Or Tiki if you're on and no whats going on would love to know. Thank you. Great work btw.
Well what I did was find the folder in my internal memory "TWRP" and inside that folder make a folder called "themes" then in that folder add the ui.zip, make sure to rename it to "ui.zip" if it isent already.. then reboot into recovery and bam.

Something's wrong with your recovery mate or you have the wrong partition selected. Perhaps you have external storage selected without a sdcard installed. The screen shot in the OP of the file manager running was taken directly off of my device with absolutely no issue.
