new posts in subscribed forums - About xda-developers.com

Hi guys... hopeing someone can shed some light..
I`ve subscrubed to the HTC Desire forums... is there any way I can show new posts in these forums only ? as apposed to just the [new posts] button..
thanks

Sorry, I've not see a way to do this, yet.
Dave

hmmm
Well I don`t see the point of subscribing to forums then if that isn`t possible..
I was after the same kinda thing as androidforums.com. you can have favourite forums and just show the unread posts in those!!

contact the admins and mods personally i don't subscribe to threads i just browse through them and post stuff

It looks like androidforums.com is using a favourite forums plugin for vB, which XDA doesn't have.
I only subscribe to small forums for quick access from User CP and to tell me when something new is in there.
Dave

ok
thanks guys.. ( Dave )

Sticky links ??

was thinking it would be great (for me anyways lol) if you could add a popular link.
at the mo new ppl find this site and have to scroll hours and hours looking for stuff thats useful.
or end up repeating the same questions u guys prob heard millions of times....so
how about a new link or stick thread that stays in the top and in that link /thread u can have quick URL to popular things...
eg S2UP
Call firewall programmes
and other main links like top 5 questions asked..just so it helps the new guys .. wot u think?

Hi,
There is already a Software thread in the Q&A forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465545
With regards to the top asked questions, it all depends on what the questions are about, cooking, using software, complete WM noobs, etc. I think the current system off users kindly writing posts that answer the top questions in a given area (mskip's Kaiser and Raph gudie, or scotchua's Raph Q&A thread, the Q&A forum, etc) works quite well.
If a particlular forum has a problem, then it needs to be looked at on it's own merit.
Hope this helps.
Dave
omg how did i miss that thread great stuff !

Sort on New Posts WITHIN a forum, how?

Hi you all,
I'm quite an advanced user on forums, but couldn't find an answer for this issue.
When I click on "New Posts" I'll get a list of the posts that are submitted since my last visit.
But that works only on the all the forums.
I would like to see all the posts that are submitted while a was gone... in a subforum (like Rhodium General)
How do I do that, 'cause now it's sorted in weird way.
I'm searching my way through pages of info, to find the thread I was following.
(I know, I can subscribe, but I just want to see the last posts in a subforum).
Thanx in advance.
Nobody?
No response here...
(wrong forum?)
I'll start a new one somewhere else..
You can close this one.

Added Search Feature

Good Day,
First off I do LOVE XDA!!!! I have been here for a long time since before my 8125 . I have found lately that it would be a nice feature (and maybe I just dont know how to do this) to be able to search a thread for posts by a user.
Example:
Take NRGZ28 Raphel ROM thread. 1000s of posts. But NRG is the owner of the thread. He also posts messages throughout the thread. it would be a nice feature to view only posts by him in the thread. This may be possible but I have not found out how.
Thanks for a GREAT forum/Community!!!!

Whilst in the desised thread, click "Search this thread", Advanced search.
Then just enter the username NRGZ28.
It's not quite what you want, but it's the closest we have .

[Q] Viewing new posts in which you have participated

Hello, this is the only vBulletin forum that I browse(I'm more of a SMF guy, I use it and develop for it) and I can't find the place where I can see new topics in which I have participated(Tapatalk does this for this forum). Is there a link where I can see the new topics?

A couple of things you can do:
1
Subscribe to threads you are interested in and receive email notification of new posts being added.
2
Bookmark your profile page http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1153710 and in there go to the statistics tab>Find all posts by. Then by clicking on your posts you can see if there have been any replies.
Not sure if these links might work also:
Find all posts by Dragooon123
Find all threads started by Dragooon123

im using subscription witout email, means i can go to my user cp and i see all threads i subscripted that have new posts
so i dont get too many emails but see all new replys..
The question is,
why does the XDA app offer this feature,
but the full version of the board does not?
I could theoretically run an emulator, run the XDA android app, and use this forum MORE efficiently than actually turning on a laptop. I use the 'participated' area every single day.
That seems backward. There has to be a way to pull this data to a web browser, if it can be pulled to an Android phone.

You should set your usercp so that it will automatically subscribe to threads you reply to (without notification)
Then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription&folderid=all to view them.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but I haven't found an answer to the same question, and this is the only time I have seen it have replies. Finding threads posted by a user will not do the same thing, the participated thread button in the tapatalk or xda app does. One should not have to subscribe to every thread either, that would be pointless considering that is for threads you REALLY want to follow.
The information is accessible to the app, which means ultimately it would be easy to implement on the website, and it is counter productive you can only find it in app. The best answer I have is find the posts in the app, but if I have to post something longer, or with links, I have to find the thread on the website.
As popular as this site is, this feature would improve quite a bit.. people(maybe more noobs) would actually follow threads they've posted questions on, so the replies aren't a waste of time. How many threads have multiple people asked for more details and the OP never replies.. Subscribing to threads would only work on any new posts, and some of my oldest ones I would still want to know activity for. This all seems obvious.

How cool would it be...

...if we could bookmark single posts, and not just threads on here?
For example, I open this post in a new tab, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15674362&postcount=37121
I wish I could bookmark it.
I know some forums have that, but I don't think XDA does, just subscribed threads.

I presume you don't mean browser bookmark?
Correct. I mean on the site, where I can go to my profile and along with my subscribed threads would be bookmarks.
SDX has this.
Great idea
I've had to dig through my post history to point six members in the direction of some instructions to put Android on the HD2 now.
Excellent idea, I have seen this already on another forum !
+1, i would say its a great idea.
