New BETA version of Resco Keyboard Pro 6.00 - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi,
We are glad to present you a BETA version of a brand new Resco Keyboard Pro 6.00.
This version contains a lot of improvements and provides much more user experience to a simple but crutial everyday activity as entering texts.
The main improvements and new features in the new version are:
Secondary and national characters available from the main keyboard layout
More special characters
New keyboard layouts
Easy FX buttons editing and text preview
Touch friendly layout switching
Calculator displays performed operations and signs
Easy to reach text editing functions (Copy, Paste, etc...)
Direction buttons for easier text editing on devices without d-pad
Secondary language appears as second keyboard (up to four keyboards)
Keyboard Settings available from Start Menu
Support for .Net and layout designing is being prepared
You can download the exe installation file from here
You can download the cab installation file from here

Nice!! !! =)

Really nice! Great improvement! I just have one suggestion to make. Give an option to remove the bottom bar with the five dots signifying the five screens. Wastage of screen estate, really, after a while. Other than that, cannot find anything wrong

This is bloody fantastic!!! Must be made with HD2 in mind, because this beats any other keyboard I've tried. Huge improvement over version 5. It's like the standard HTC keyboard, but with improvements that makes it now at least as good as the iPhone keyboard. Thank you!! Looking forward to the final version!
What features are disabled in this beta version? It says that the full version has even more...

Any way to get screenshots of this?

in portrait mode is the best keyboard ever tried.. but in landscape mode the keyboard don't extend in full length..it remains in the same size ad portrait? is it normal? btw i repeat..in portrait mode in way better than every keyboard tried..
tested on HD2

Same here, the keyboard changes to landscape only if I open the Input-Menu and re-chose the Resco keyboard. Then it's landscape but it stays landscape even when the screen switches to portrait. It stays like this until I re-chose the Resco keyboard again.
Apart from this bug, this keyboard is very good to write on!
Tried on HD2 with WinMo6.5.x

Is it a,bug or a limitation? I think it's fantastic!

thanks works fine on omnia i900. i will love final and full version

- Like mentioned above, Landscape mode is buggy on HD2. Have to reselect Resco Keyboard when switching mode. And when I write SMS, the Landscape keyboard covers practically the entire screen, so you're not able to read what you're writing. I hope this is a bug which will be fixed in the final version.
- Even though I select it as the default keyboard, not all programs respond to that. Most programs do, like SMS, Opera, etc., but some programs revert the default keyboard back to standard, and I have to reselect Resco again. Really hope this is a bug that can be fixed as well.
Otherwise, still loving it

Thanks, just testing it now..

Here are some screen shots

this keyboard is great!
its a lil buggy with the rotation on the HD2 though..
i wish the dots could vanish..its just taking more space..
glad i downloaded this~!

and please add options to override the wm bottombar to save some spaces

I'm having the exact same bugs that BlueLux is describing on my HD2.
I really hope that you guys at Resco can do something with our feedback, because this is so much better than the stock one (at least in portrait mode), a decent keyboard like this is exactly what the HD2 needs!!

same bugs mentioned.
Would love to have cyrillic support. Probably a button to change language layout .
nice work

great software! fantastic keyboard! what i need now is hebrew support and its perfect! good work.

so far so good on diamond 2 with WM6.5.5 Build 25659!
I only use portrait and it's fast an nice !
Only little thing is like fingerkb you have to backspace to get contact suggestion when typing sms/email... ezInput show it while typing... i think it's better even if might be slowing typing a little bit if you have a lot of contacts
Great work Resco team (as usual)

best keyboard ive used but option for phonepad would convert me from touchpal

Best keyboard!
Minor buggs,
Rotation and Scale, Landscape
Nice to see this is beta, im sure this will be used of all hd2 users
When all buggs fixed

major bug
if you type too fast, then the keyboard will swipe...its a bit annoying but never have I felt comfortable typing so fast on an onscreen keyboard
finally
is it possible to have a better predictive text engine like the x2 keyboard??? if resco changed those minor bugs I'd actually use this and buy it

Touch Keyboard

I'm sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere (And yes I did look), but is there a way to set the touch keyboard to default to the "Touch Keyboard" where each character has its own button? On some screens it appears like that, but on others the "QU", "ER", etc share a key. It's really frustrating.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
try this cab

This is the cab to keep the 40 key "password" you will lose T9 and word prediction ..... do a registry backup.......this cab despite what ever it says WILL uninstall... the registry backup is just in case it can't be uninstalled. I pesonally have uninstalled and reinstalled many times without hard reset...Hope this helps

I didn't make it but codyppc did so give him kudos if you catch him out in cyberworld
This is for the touch keyboard on the touch
Timdawg
Another option
I like what timdawgdentist recommended because I did not know that there was the option available. However, I find the password keyboard a bit difficult to use myself, so I installed PCMKeyboard.
http://www.pocketcm.com/keyboard2.php
That PCMKeybord is really great. It's taking a while to get used to, but I certainly like it much more than any of the others that I've tried. Thanks!!!!!!!
I personally LOVE TouchPal keyboard, I was a fan with 1.0 and now with 2.0 it is that much better, Twice as better and easier to use. I use SIPChange to make that my default Keyboard. You should try it. You can type so freaking fast with it.

I have hard time text messaging with the native texting program that comes with the HTC Touch (Sprint/Vogue). I can't get the keyboard to disappear so that I can press the send bottom on the bottom of the page.
I like the SPB Fullscreen Keyboard with the black47 theme and PCM Keyboard with iPhone skins.
I tried TouchPal, Touch Keyboard and Keypad.
I prefer the touch keyboard from the least 3 i like.
but I mainly use the Fullscreen now but usually wind up switching around to the PCM. Sometimes predictive is good, sometimes I need to be precise

keyboard thread...

I was wondering if there had been a thread dedicated towards various keyboards or not.. so I thought I would start one. I've read a few things spread out about keyboards but nothing dedicated.
on that note: is someone who is capable of creating a keyboard, much like the iphone style (keys spaced out, not cramped together for people with fat fingers [like myself] and fewer buttons) be willing make one for all of us to benefit...?
thanks!
I have had the PCM keyboard (v0.14) installed, but it messed up the default HTC keyboard. Still don't know how or why that happened.
Turned out I liked the HTC better, so deleted all other keyboards I had
Still waiting for a Swype-like keyboard to try.
Grtz,
Thijs
you could try the resco keyboard. It is great... apart from it having no comma and period on the first page, making it still very slow to work with for me.
that swype looks great
i like the Yota keyboard, looks ideal for people with sausage hands like me
I'll have to give those a try, it seems there are too many buttons on the reg qwerty pad.
next question, how do I change it?

Yep, but that Yota keyboard hasn't been extracted yet.
Hope somebody is capable of doing this!

Try the Shapewriter...works on same technology of swype...although i didnt like it personally...numpad was too cramped...but u might like it since u mentioned swype...swype does look appealing
right now am using SPB and Resco pretty good but sometimes when you tap a letter it doesnt appear.. its like it has a delay or something! but i do wish someone makes sometimes that works good!
PCMK kills them all. Without a doubt.
Tene is also adding gesture support in the next version here, and you can add cursor buttons (left right up down) as in HTC keyboard for navi. Easily the best, I have tried I think just about all sips.
Fully skinnable and you can also change the layout to just how you want. Would highly recommend it.
pocketcm.com
I found it a bit slow and the autocomplete shows only one option. plus the feedback didn't appear instantly as it should.

How recently have you tried it?
.23 has none of those issues...
Swype seems cool, does anybody have any idea on when the public version will come out? It seems like you can have them contact you when the beta version comes out...
my self keyboard
I'm using self create keyboard, that looks like iphone. Have maximum configuration (but editing skin file in which all buttons and logic described)
At now it's with EN and RU layouts.
Unpack archive to Program files, run Register.exe and select Fingerkeyb.dll file with full path. Press register button to register keyboard.
Also keyboard can hover over buttom bar to incrase screen free space (ChildWnd parameter in skin file)
Skin file located in Skins\Skin.txt, be careful skin file must be in unicode format, also at now only Portrait orientation supported.
Keyboard developed for self only and have a bit of documentation, all info in file Skins\KEY-OPS.TXT which describes format of skin.txt format
See screenshots.

[UTIL][10 APR 09] Phone (numeric only) keypad for WVGA screens

I use XPERIA and I need numeric keyboard. I didn't find it, but I wrote it. It's free.
Unlike many software input methods Phone Keypad covers large screen area
and has keys that are large enough to be typed with finger-tips, not with
a stylus. It is very handy for entering numbers. Phone Keypad also features
a close interaction with other Pocket PC programs. It runs as an input method
in Soft Input Panel (SIP), Pocket PC native technique for entering text.
I can be safely removed. Simple uninstall, without restart.
Future plans:
Your suggestions welcome.
Screenshot portrait and landscape is attached. These bitmaps is used as keyboard layout and may be changed, if you create any better.
Sounds nice, but do you have any screenshot of it?
Screenshots
yeah, screenshits will be great. just to know what were installing, because i'm tires of installing things that replace the original stuff, and have to hard reset to get back.

Oh, this is just awesome! Exactly what I made a thread about a week ago, although no one bothered to answer me. I'll install in a few minutes.
Suggestion: I'm swedish, and in the swedish language the letters å, ä and ö features prominently. Is it possible to map this to get swedish letters too, like on swedish cell phones? Å and Ä appears when you press the number 2, since it's the button used for the letter A, because Å and Ä carries resemblance to A. With Ö, it's mapped to appear at number 6, since it's similar to an O. Please consider this
screenie please
this very good idea.and it looks perfect.could you please put english letters as well?if you can make it like nokia keypad that would be lovely.good work mate.thanks.

Be careful...
Amazing idea Arci01, but please let me make some positive suggestions:
1- add some screenshots, I recommend "cap sure": simple, free and small screen capturing app
2- you can improve the thread's title description following XDA-DEVS rules: [UTIL][10 APR 09] Phone (numeric only) Keypad of WVGA screens
This way more users will be aware (and interested) of thread contents
You can edit the thread's title by clicking "edit" (lower right corner) and then clicking "go advanced"
I use tinypic.com to upload screenshots taken with "cap sure", then I link them in my posts
Hope my 2 cents help
And again: congrats for your great contribution to the community
This SIP keyboard don't replace any installed software and can be safely removed. Simple uninstall it.
nice, very nice indeed..
I Don't suppose you want to carry on and create a full KB? it looks really good..
@arci01
Excellent work - and it is NOT black !!
I think it's good to have like this software.
quick question before i try this, does this mess up the SIP? (au button, word suggestions and such)
Looking good anyway

Any Installer cabs for input keyboards

I am looking to change the input keyboard on the 6.1 ihave and was wondering if anyone just does a cab for the input keyboard,i would like black with white letter, i have a weird eye sight issue.
thanks for reading
Don't have cabs that may be posted here but some suggestions are:
1. Finger Keyboard - freeware developed here on Xda Devs - tons of skins also
2. SPB Fullscreen Keyboard - I like it but it costs but the skins are free
3. Resco Keyboard - some people like it
Just my top 3 along with Swype which is no longer available for aftermarket. I suggest Finger Keyboard since it has two versions (with and without arrows), has a small footprint, tons of built in skins and language packs, adjustable haptic feedback and xda-dev support. Just use the seach engine and it will show. Good luck.
-
BTW if you want a great 6.1 rom that is ultra stable, unbloated and fast use one of CRC's. It's here in this forum also.
cheers i will check those out, thank you

Touch Pro 2 - Auto Complete? Spell Check?

I recently upgraded from a T-Mobile Wing to the T-Mobile TP2, and for the most part I am really appreciating the improvements in hardware and software.
One thing that is bugging me, though, is that when texting or writing an email on my Wing I would be offered a list of possible words after typing the first few characters. I could select one with the arrow keys, and then press space to accept. This made typing out messages much faster. Also, it would auto-correct certain words - like changing "i' to "I", or "adn" to "and".
I can't seem to find a place to turn these features on in my TP2.
It originally came with WM 6.1, but I have since upgraded with the official WM 6.5.
Any ideas?
Edit:
I should also mention that I am talking about using the hardware keyboard. I am aware that you can bring up the on-screen keyboard, select XT9, and close the on-screen keyboard - and then you will have word completion functionality, but the setting does not seem to be persistent.
Thanks!
It should work, just open up the keyboard in landscape mode and click the same XT9 key. If not go search for a registry change to have it default to that setting.

My point was kind of that I don't want to open the on-screen keyboard and select XT9. It becomes pretty unwieldy to add those steps every time I slide out the keyboard.
I was hoping that someone could point me to an option setting that I hadn't stumbled across.
It seems an odd bit of functionality to have been removed from the OS, so I was hoping that it was there, but not enabled - make sense?
Thanks for the tip, though

On my phone it was saving XT9 as the default for messages, even after a soft reset. I'm running Mighty Mike's 6.5 sense 2.1. Here is a possible solution (post 7):

Thanks,
My phone is not saving XT9 as a default at all. As soon as I open a new message it is back to ABC mode. I checked the setting in the link that you shared, but mine was already turned on. Seems to make no difference to the hardware keyboard.
Thanks again
