Text messages being sent to emails instead of mobile... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason my text messages are being sent to some peoples emails rather than their mobile number. My contacts have a primary number but it also says primary for the email as well and I cant change the email part. I have some contacts in a group and those seem to be the problem ones. I have facebook synced with my contacts.
Is there any way to change it so the mobile number is always the primary for both calling and sending text?
Issue is on my Evo 4G unmodified. Not limited to Evo but I have searched and similar issues arise from android relating to this but no fix I can find.

My wife is having the exact same problem with her Evo. Really having a hard time finding anything on the web on how to fix it. I need to be able to make sending messages via text the primary for her phone.

SMS bug

My company has an alerting SMS system. Usually you receive a reminder. The special thing in the SMS that instead of the number in the "Form" field it shows the text "alert".
When I receive this SMS it shows that I received it one of my friends from facebook contacts :s His profile also not contains number under the phone field just characters.
How this huge bug could pass the test?!
I reported this issue to HTC support, but of course no response.
This happens with me when receiving texts from t-mobile, it always says that they are from a random facebook friend. The only way to stop it, is to stop the phone syncing facebook contacts.
I too am having the same problem.
It seems very odd that it should pick up a random facebook contact.
I don't sync my facebook contacts to the Desire, but do remain logged into facebook and it still picks up the random contact despite the mobile numbers used etc all being different!
A fix would be great!
I had this bug, I had the contact delete their phone details seeing as they only entered garbage. Don't hold your breath on it ever getting fixed.

SMS Messages from "names" not "numbers" - odd Contact matching

Here's an odd one. If you receive a text message that is MT, the "sender" can be text rather than a number. Obviously, you can't reply to it (hence "mobile terminate"), but they're used quite often by companies (like ourselves) for notifications.
Weirdly, when I get such a message, the Desire's SMS app matches the sender to a seemingly random user on my phone (in my case, it's my wife's contact), so that all of the messages appear to have come from her. It's very odd.
Has anyone else experienced this?

please read previous threads! its a bug and reported to HTC
It's your Facebook friends with stupid entries in their mobile number fields. As above, there's a thread about it somewhere...
This isn't a Facebook issue...I've never used it
Ah, but it does seem to be something to do with contact linking...
Guess the fix is on HTC's side then.
But...
.. it is still very annoying!
My Desire suffers from this issue too.
Bank SMS notifications are attributed to a friend of mine...
This just happened to me, it assigned them to some girl on facebook, looks very weird in my sms history...hope they fix this as i haven't been able to find a workaround yet.

The same thing happened to me and I was able to fix it:
I managed to sort it out. I took off facebook contact syncing, removed my facebook accounts from facebook and friendstream, rebooted, readded the facebook accounts leaving contact syncing off and this solved it. I'd rather not have my facebook contacts showing in my phonebook any way...

Can you still link FB accounts to contacts tho on an individual basis? I want the profile pics for my contacts but have had a few issues with these SMSs coming up as a friend...
Just out of curiosity, did you guys hard reset your phone, and use the built in backup tool?

New problem not on the forums

Im using a deisre on tmobile uk
Im only using google mail, with push and have no pop3 accounts set up.
If I choose a calender entry and try to share it, the phone will ask me how? IE email, text message etc. It wont allow you to send it by email unless its pop3.
I tried sending it via text to another phone, and my phone sent an mms, to a number starting 100.
My operator charged me for the message, but as the number it was sent to was not the contacts phone number it never arrived.
Also, now that I had sent that message, if I went into messages and tried to click on a recent conversation with this person, I could send another normal text message, but it would actually be sent as another picture message and again to the wrong number.
Hope this stops any of you falling fowl of this bug.
Unless any of you want to prove this bug and post below?

[Q] GN Exchange Email

Besides Gmail, I also am using Exchange Mail through my Comcast account.
This is what I have experienced and wonder if there is a solution.
After having loaded my mail and having read it on the GN, after some time of receiving new messages, the old messages that I have kept drop off the bottom. Then some time later, I get a new email notification and it is one of the previously read emails and it shows up as not having been read. Is anybody else experiencing this?
Also, I had a DroidX before and was able to select all messages from the settings to delete them without having to individually select each one to delete. Is this a feature that went away in ICS?
Thanks for your responses.

New Gmail app not sending messages

Anyone else having a problem with the new version of the Gmail app not sending message from their Dinc? I'm running Evervolv ICS a3. Any messages I compose and send on the phone never change from showing "Sending". I confirmed that the intended recipients aren't getting the messages.
Try removing the account and readding it, also ensure syncing is enabled for Gmail. Both of these have worked for me in the past.
For future reference, this type of post should go in the question and answer forum.
