Put your phone off and start it while holding the back button!
-Select with Power Button the Bootloader Option
-Wait a few seconds and select with volume down the recovery option
-Wait again then when there is a red triangle u should press volume up + power button.
-Then u can select with volume down and the power button "Apply update.zip from sdcard"
-Now the Recovery Console should launch (If u have the update.zip on the root of your sdcard)
Hope i help you!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
you might have to use the Tiny Core Linux Live CD
to get to step 2 but you will have to get into recovery,
as well use this file to get into root after it is a quick way to

help, please: manual Froyo update

I just read an article on Engadget about the option to manually upgrade to Froyo. They give instructions on how to do it, but I tried it on my non-rooted EVO and got lost. Can anyone explain to me, in detail, exactly how to do this manual update? Explain as if you're talking to a six-year-old because I know nothing about the inner workings of my phone.

1.download the file. 2. rename that file to update. 3.put the file you just named update on the sdcard(not in any folder, just open the sdcard and put it there) 4.shut the phone off. 5.push the volume button up ( like your making it louder) while holding the button push and hold the power button. 6.this will bring you to a white screen with some options. 7. use your volume up and down buttons to select bootloader from the list. 8.once you select it(highlight) push the power button. 9. you will be at a new screen, select/highlight the recovery option and push the power button again. 10. now you should be in recovery mode. 11. select flash .zip from sdcard or it may say apply update zip and then push the power button.at the bottom of the screen it should say push power button to install or any other button to abort. 12. push power button and watch the install. it's going to reboot a few times so just set the phone down and walk away.

[Q] how to change ROM - Unable to load advance menu

I am currently using HyperDroidGBX v11 and want to try rom with sense Coredroid can some suggest me how to do that. As i search forum and net it suggest me to hold volume button down and I will see advance menu where I have to select option to flash from USB but I am not able to load this advance menu it boots straight to my current Android. Can someone please help me?
Dude, this is the forum for posting dev projects not asking for help.
There is plenty of tutorials/info, go have a look in stickies.
sorry posted by error on wrong form... MOD please delete this tread or move it to Q&A
Once again sorry
#TheATHEiST : Thanks for highlighting and I have search open but that is not working for me that's why I posted question.
the volume down is not for an advanced menu its for the bootloader( you have to hold down power button+volumedown button as i rember),
what you are looking for is to hold down only the power button, but its exactly described in the textfiles in the coredroid rar.
The way you should flash it, is the same way you've flashed HyperDroidGBX!
And there are plenty of threads about flashing a rom, going to the bootloader, task 29 etc..
help .. for starters
press and hold the power button, until magldr menu shows up.
then go down, select usb flasher
run daf.exe from downloaded coredriod *.rar file.
copy coredriod *.zip to sdcard
reboot phone, AGAIN entering into magldr menu(holding power button until menu shows up)
select ad recovery
choose install zip from sd card
select copied zip
reboot
wait
be happy

[Q][SOLVED] How to go into CWM recovery using key combination?

Hi,
I just rooted my Desire Z and installed Virtuous Sense ROM but I don't know how to get into recovery mode beside using ROM Manager to do that.
I pushed volume down and power at the same time and it gets into a screen with three little androids below the screen and I see there are some options with the selected on highlighted in blue (is this correct?) but I cannot use volume up/down to change the option, I press power button and it get to HBOOT asking me to update PC101MG.zip again... and I can use volume down to cancel this update and power button to reboot again.
Anyone can help me?
Thanks.
Go to the root folder of your SD card and remove the PC101MG.zip file. Once you do that it shouldn't prompt you to update PC101MG.zip again. Then you can select recovery by pressing the volume button.
Sound like you flashed a radio but forgot to remove it from what i understand from your post.

If it has clockworkmod than it should work like this
Using Clockwork Recovery console
Disconnect the USB cable and reboot the phone into HBOOT mode (power off, then hold volume down key and press-hold power on key).
HBOOT will scan for the ESPRIMG.zip file (and some others), then present you with 4 options: Fastboot, Recovery, Simlock and Clear Storage.
Press volume down key to select Recovery, and press power key to apply.
This will take you to a screen with a black background, a picture of a phone and a big red exclamation mark.
Press and hold the Volume Up key, then whilst still holding Volume Up, press the Power key. This will take you to a secret yellow menu with a few options (you may also get an error like E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command, it's ok to ignore this one).
Press Volume Down to scroll the list and highlight Apply sdcard:update.zip. Press the Power button to activate.
This will flash the update.zip file we copied to the root of the memory card, which activates a custom tool called the Clockwork Recovery. Clockwork lets us do many things, including making full phone backups, and installing unsigned ROM images. Clockwork gets wiped every time you reset the phone. So to use it, you must always reboot into HBOOT mode, choose Recovery, activate the hidden menu and apply the update.zip as above. You will be doing this multiple times, so get used to it.
If that doesn't work than you need to put http://dl.dropbox.com/u/642364/slideroot/update.zip that in your sd card
After you flash Clockwork Recovery for the first time, you should download Rom Manager, and in it will have an option that says "Reboot into Recovery", and once you select that, it will take you directly to Clockwork, so no more constant reflashing

[q] !!!!!black screen when enter in recovery mode!!!!!

Hey guys,
I have a problem, my phone was LOCKED and i UNLOCKED him with some help from your and with HTCDEV.COM. Everythings good, my WFS is nou UNLOCKED, but i unlocked him to root him.
First i started with flash the recovery clockworld 5.0.2.8.
Before this , i put the root file on SD-card to enter in recovery CWM to instal it, but the problem is when i want to enter in RECOVERY mode from HBOOT, SCREEN REMAIN BLACK AND NAVIGATE KEY ARE LIGHTENING!!!.
I tried a lot of method and same things happen'!!!! Probably something missing but i don't know what because all the method's i applied, i respect 100% all the "walk"...
Android 2.3.5
Software version 2.26.401.3
HBOOT 1.09.0099
Please give me some help person who know more about thins problem!!!
flashing the recovery is not properly done i guess .
i prefer you to follow the below steps
Step 1: Flashing the Custom Recovery UI by XDA.cn
Again, make sure your device is S-OFF.
Again, make sure your memory card is formatted FAT32.
Place the PG76IMG.zip file into your phone SD card.
Disable Fast Boot from your phone settings (Settings > Power > Disable Fastboot)
Turn your phone off.
Hold down the "power" button and the "volume down" button for a few seconds till you see the HBOOT screen.
Don't press anything. The system will scan for some files and it will prompt you for an update. Move the cursor to OK (volume up) to start the flashing process.
After it finishes, press the "power" button to restart the system.
Let Android boot and delete the PG76IMG.zip file from your SD card via USB.
Congrats! Custom recovery has been installed. Process to step 2.
Step 2: Flashing the rooting script by XDA.cn
Copy the root.zip file into your phone SD card.
Turn your phone off.
Boot into recovery: Hold down the "power" button and the "volume down" button for a few seconds till you see the HBOOT screen. Let it do its thing and then select "RECOVERY".
At the recovery menu, use the volume buttons to select "install zip from sd card".
Then select "choose zip from sd card".
Then find the "root.zip" file on the list.
Select "YES".
Let the script do its thing till you see "Install from sd card completed".
Select "Go Back" on the menu till you find the "power off" option and select it.
Turn your phone back on and let Android boot
you can use the custom recovery PG76IMG.img or else clockworkmod recovery from
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
cwm recovery have more options ,so i prefer you to use that .
you can find those FILES in the source which i have specified.
