next time at least look at the stickies...

Thank you for this nice tutorial.
Everything seems to be working fine, except for when I flash zip from sdcard.
When I command it to install the zip and confirm it, it says:
"Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/AMDesireRecovery.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted."
Have you got any idea of what I have done wrong?
If so, what should I do to solve it?
Thanks in advance

ROM manager don't want to start new ROM

THIS POST IS COPY/PASTE FROM "DESIRE ANDROID DEVELOPMENT"...I THINK THIS IS RIGHT PLACE FOR THIS POST PERHAPS...
Hi there got some problems with ROM manager (latest version from Market)...
I put new LeeDroid on my SD card and when start ROM manager goes to "Install rom from sd card" RM asked me for directory and I "tell" him where the ROM is...when I tap on LeeDroid (.zip) ask me for ROM Pre-installation and I tick both options - OK - press Reboot into Clockwork Recovery and continue the installation. I press OK and nothing happened then
Then tried with untick both options - same thing...
Then I try Reboot into Recovery options and nothing happened again
Then download CyanogenMod 6.1.1. from ROM manager - same thing...nothing happened
But when I Reboot into Recovery mod (Hot reboot app) reboot was successfull and I was making System backup....
What is going wrong there
Please help me
Clockwork mode is 2.5.0.7.
P.S.
Sorry if my english is poor
If the ROM Manager is giving you problems, just install your ROM from the recovery menu
Ok...I'll try now
It's going on......and finished
What now?? Nothing happened after that....I have to put the battery out or what?
I was put the battery out and then start device...i'm in AlphaRev Recovery now and when press "Reboot system now" nothing happened??
You mean you have installed Leedroid from your SD card in Recovery?
Once successfully installed, you don't need to pull out your battery, you just need to find the option in your recovery to restart OR boot up your system.

Was but nothig happened just black empty screen is there and when i press power button show me menu for reboot...
I'll try to do it again (install from .zip)
Ok....now here's some options...
apply sdcard:update.zip
choose .zip from card
toggle signature verification
toggle script asserts
What have to do now?? I pressed APPLY UPDATE FROM SD CARD and said:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update... and below is everything the same like when was installing Ledroid..
What now?? There's no any menu....
I put back Recovery from Nand backup and press "reboot system now" but there is just black screen on device and nothin' happened..
PLEASE HELP ANYONE!
Finally
Reboot to fastbot was my option and then reboot
you should be selecting [choose .zip from card], then navigate to whatever you named your Leedroid zip.
After this installs and completes, select the option to reboot system, and you're good to go.

I know that but after flashing LeeDroid need to go tu option Reboot to fastboot and then Reboot device
I wrote it in a post above
But thanks
Got new problem now...unbelivable...
Put LeeDriod on the device and don't like it....and want to back to my stock 2.2 backup...
But when in Recovery mod put Restore...said MD5 mismatch...and try again but now said: E: failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (invalid argument)
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
But how?? I was recover once today successfully...what's goin' wrong?
md5 mismatch could mean that the recovery is corrupted?
try turning signature verification off in your recovery to try to fix your signature verification failed problem.
OR try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714114
But I have to ask, when you did you make that backup of that stock 2.2?

I don't really understand what you asked me
I found on xda forum 2.2 stock ROM (rooted) and put it on my phone and fixed all my problems
I recently installed LeeDroId using CWR.
Steps i followed >
1. Download LeeDroId onto SD card.
2. Boot into Recovery
3. BACKUP EXISTING ROM
4. Wipe old rom
5. Install LeeDroId, by navigating to the zip file
6. Reboot once installed
7. WAIT. 1st boot takes about 4 mins.
Done
That worked for me.

[Guide-Updated]Update WiFi Xoom to 3.1 then 3.2 (Non US Xoom)

Firstly I would like to thank bigrushdog & the ppl for the below links i quoted
I just would like to do an add on of the bigrushdog thread. Since I was a lill bit worried when 1st I flashed my SG WiFi xoom that is running 3.0.1.
There are some additional steps missing as prerequisite before using the steps on the bigrushdog thread.
WARNING: I only flashed my xoom which is a SG WiFi only xoom. I will not be responsible for any bricking. All Data Will be ERASED
In a nutshell, There will be 3 steps
[step1] Unlock
[step 2] Flash Recovery CWM
[step 3] Flash Updates
[Step 1]
Note:In System at the USB debugging options under "Settings" > "Applications" > "Development" enabled it first (thick)
1. Make sure ur honeycomb is 3.0.1
2. U need to install Android SDK and update it using the SDK Manager

In ClockworkMod Recovery, select "mounts and storage"
Ensure your Xoom is connected to your PC via USB, then select "mount USB storage"
On your PC, copy All Files on the thread above (STEP 3) to the root of the Xoom's SDCard ("Removable Disk" in Windows)

Hi! Thanks for this guide.
In the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093112 I asked about this same process, and was not sure if I first needed to install the US 3.0.1 ROM after unlocking the device. In one of the replies I was told I should, but in your guide you don't have that listed.
Do I need to flash the US 3.0.1 rom first, or not?

Was your xoom on a USA based 3.0.1, or an international 3.0.1?
Im on an SG Wifi Xoom also. Actually, I followed the instructions from BigRushDog's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074609.
I was rooted and on Tiamat 1.4 before I tried doing the update. It went flawless. Just follow the 3 steps in that thread. In essence, your xoom will have the US firmware and you will have access to books.
The extra steps highlighted by OP may be a safer bet though. Im not sure.

Anybody followed this guide on a UK WiFi? At the moment I am unlocked, but not rooted. This guide implies that you can update using CWM without root, which sounds logical, though it has been stated elsewhere that you need root :/

i am uk wifi and would apreciate any advice too.
OK you don't need root to install CWM, and if you get the latest 3.2.0.0 it works on the external SD card out of the box (for installation of CWM follow the instructions above). Download the lastest CWM image here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
I followed the guide below to the letter (even step 1) to get my UK stock 3.0.1 to rooted US 3.1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075260#
I did have to wipe (as I was in a bootloop), and I copied the MZ604_3.1_ROOT_update.zip file directly to the SDcard via my PC (rather than pushing or mounting the card in CWM), but apart from that it all went OK
Bonus! All my apps were restored this time (as I had to do a factory reset a few days ago d/t a 3.0.1 issue)
...also my internal SD was untouched
Edit: Only thing missing was my AutoSport app which will not let me download, so will have to sideload.

Delete and recopy the Update.zip file to SD card. If still failed, just format the SD card and do as guided. It will work definitely.

Wow need help from the experts

Im flashing my GF defy green lense. I myself have a htc hd2 and im no novice when it comes to flashing and modding but the defy really makes my head hurt. its out of warranty and its been running really crapp. I want to flash the: [ROM][05.02.2012]MS2Ginger - Android 2.3.6
Ive managed to root the device but i cant seem to get Clockwork mod on it to flash. Maybe because its late but ive been following the beginners guide but im stumped what to do next.
Any help from the experts would be superb
Thanks Baker0

Do you mean you can't install clockworkmod, or that you're having trouble using it to flash the rom? To install Clockworkmod, just use this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212
Run the app and install custom recovery, then reboot the phone. The first time you reboot, the custom BootMenu will display. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu and the power button to select an option. Select Boot > Set Default > Normal > Go Back > Reboot System. After the phone has fully booted up, power it off and reboot again. If the custom recovery installed properly, a blue LED on the phone should briefly light up each time the phone reboots (while the Motorola logo is being displayed).
To use the recovery, turn off USB debugging on the phone (Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging), then power off the phone. Press the power button to turn the phone on again, and as soon as the blue LED lights up, press the volume down button. The custom BootMenu will display. Select Recovery > Custom Recovery.
Thanks it makes more sense now i'll give it ago tonight. Very much appreciated
Glad I could help. Let me know if you need further assistance.
I do ive got further..ive done
Root your DEFY and Install BOOTMENU - CWM (2ndInit-Installer 2.0.apk - install 1.0.7) or use this SndInitDefy_2.0.apk
CM7/9 and MIUI user can start with step 2
2. REBOOT
3. run 2nd-init (voldown on blue LED)
4. Go to "Recovery"
5. Go to "Latest or Stable or Custom Recovery"
6. "wipe data and cache"
7. Go to "Backup and Restore"
8. Go to "Advance Restore"
9. Select "MS2Ginger3.0"
Once i select Ms2Ginger3.0 its coming up with :
Clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.8
Checking MD5 sums...
MD5 Mismatch!
Then nothing else. Ive had a look on the forums but i cant find a solution. Ive formatted the SD card as fat32. Ive re-downloaded the file. Do I need to do something else before with my factory 2.2 defy?
Any help would be great
Cheers
Baker0
Did you unzip the "MS2Ginger3.0-RTM.zip" file? You have to unzip that file and put the "nandroid.md5" and "system.ext3.tar" files on your SD card in clockworkmod/backup/MS2Ginger. (The "MS2Ginger-Greenbread.zip" file should NOT be unzipped, however, and should be in the root of the SD card.)
If you did that correctly and you're still getting an MD5 mismatch error, try checking the MD5 sum yourself using an app like AFV (Android File Verifier), which is available free on the android market. (Open AFV and browse to the md5sum file, long-press it, and select “md5sum –c Type Check”.) Does AFV show a mismatch too?
ahh i didnt unzip. I dont do that with the hd2
Next step... Sorry I feel like a complete n00bie
All im getting now is system.img not found skipping restore of /system/.
Both files nandroid.md5" and "system.ext3.tar are in the folder....
Thank you
You need newer CWM, backup format changed recently. I'm typing from a phone, can't give you more directions now.

Yeah, that might be the problem. Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=787176&d=1321653982
Don't unzip it; just put it on the root of your SD card. Then boot into custom recovery, select Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard, and install it. That will update your recovery to the latest version.

[Q] Which Clockworkmod to Install?

On the sticky thread there is a link for cwm thread, however I'm not quite sure which filesystem to choose, I'm going to install through recovery, seems safer for me. I want to install cwm for 2 purposes, first I'm planning to backup my stock rom so that I can always flash it back if I need my warranty and second I'm planning to flash cm9 to my phone. I'm not quite sure what is the diffrence between rfs and ext4 is Currently I'm on 2.2.1 stock rom.
Actually I found the proper version of CWM to install here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414173
But I can't apply it, when I enter recovery mode the options I have are:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe chace parition
Pheraps I should rename the zip file I downloaded to update.zip? I can't select any other zip from the sd card and if I press "apply sdcard:update.zip" it searches for update.zip and fails to find it.

This is the log I get when I click apply sdcard:update.zip:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
Because the name of the zip is just not update.zip.
1.first copy the zip to the root of sdcard
rename the zip to update.zip and install as instructed

I flashed it but I can't seem to be able to enter to recovery now, power+home buttons just keep me on the samsung logo (not the flashing one, the first one) my phone works but just can't enter to recovery. When I flashed it, it seemed to work, but I don't know why I can't enter

First you have to root and format to ext4, before installing CWM.
Download mode, remove battery, insert battery, press power, home, volume down, at the same time.
