Voice Dial kept popping up.
What am I doing wrong?

Do you have a case on? Make sure your line-in cable is all the way in. The phone is getting confused because the way the cable is seated. It thinks that it's a headset with a mic. I had the same issue, I use app killer, take off my case and make sure the cable is well seated in the phone. If you see a headset with mic icon instead of just the headset re-seat the cable and try again.

Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App

I don't use a case and my cable is just a simple computerAUX. I'll have to pay attention to the icon.
Thanks for your help. : )

It is probably a problem with the connections in the headphone port on the phone. I just had my phone replaced because any slight bump of the phone would change tracks, pause music, etc...
A while back I had the same problem with a TP2 and had to have it replaced.

I have a thread on here about the same thing. Mine is getting replaced by verizon. It's shorting out on the line and it thinks you're hitting a button on a headset. It doesn't happen to every phone I guess.
Check out my thread, lots of info from different people.

[Q] phone starts calling automatically

When I plug in my earphones my phone starts to call the last person I spoke to. This happens a couple of times in a row and then it stops and I can watch video or play music without interruption. Does anyone have an idea what this is and how I can fix it?
Had the same problem here ....Can not figure it out either. I have the HTC headset that connects directly into the usb jack'. Sometimes it will happen constantly and other times never happen. I noticed though when it starts to happen and I soft reset the phone it seems to stop the issue for a while. I have two different headsets and the same thing happens to both. But it definitely only happens when there is a headset in use.
I've had this happen a few times (just a couple times over the course of a year), while plugging in the HTC adapter that came with the Tilt 2, that looked like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Mini-USB-Headset-Adapter-2-5mm-3-5mm/dp/B002HNTHKM
I use this adapter in the car, to charge the phone and connect the audio to my car stereo via the 3.5mm jack.
With this same setup, I've also randomly (just a few times also) received a message on the phone's screen to pick the output type (NTSC or PAL) for the video out adapter (when obviously, there is no video out adapter connected).
It APPEARS (not certain) that the times that my phone dialed itself, the adapter was not quite properly seated in the phone's ext-USB jack. Since the HTC headphones have the ability to place calls, I'm thinking there is something going on with the ext-USB jack and plug (short circuit, fouled connection, etc.), where it thinks you are pressing the call button on the HTC headset.
I've seen similar posts on these forums, where the video-out message was possibly traced back to bent pins on the ext-USB jack. Maybe you have a similar issue. Its possible you have bent/damaged pins on the ext-USB jack on your phone, of on the headset plug. Try examining the headset plug, and the ext-USB jack on the phone for broken, missing pins, etc. If possible, try a different HTC headset, and see if the issue persists.
I am currently having this issue and it also only happens when the adapter is plugged into my phone. So does that mean the connection on the adapter could be defective? Is there a way to disable automatic calling from the earphones?

This is often an issue with the adapter or headset you are using. Try another one. Its possible the pins in the phone's ExtUSB socket are bent/damaged. There was a similar thread about this a little while ago. The OP tried a different headset, and it solved his issue.

2 questions/problems regarding car dock

1. The music widget type thing in the dock app just repeats 5 or 6 songs... I've fiddled with all these settings and it does the same thing.
2. When talking to people on the phone I hear the persons voice through my phone speaker, how do I get it to play through my car speakers? I think I might have to turn speaker phone off because that's how it worked with the tape adapter.

Anyone?

This probably wont help you but I'll post anyhow. I just plug in my aux jack to the phone, all the audio pumps thru there.

Does the microphone on the phone still work this way? Considering the aux cable doesn't have a mic built into it like other hands-free headsets.
Figured out why I was only hearing like 5 songs.
Apparently you're supposed to have the stock music player set to "party shuffle" and then that widget in the car dock app works great. Plays all songs.
And I'll try talking with somebody with the phone not in speaker phone, I'm pretty sure it will work so that they can hear me, and I can hear them through car speakers.
Oh and I called Moto and the lady talked sooooo slow, and verified everything I said like 4 times, just to say that she could just replace it. Didn't even know how to troubleshoot.
Is it impossible to edit the widgets that come pre-loaded in the car dock app?

Bluetooth and headphone jack

I have an Acura, and every bluetooth phone I have had in the past I could pair with the car, and plug in an Aux line to the headphone jack to listen to music, then if a call came in, it would come through my spearkers.
Now with the EP4g, it comes through the speakers, but no one can hear me, and I can't hear them until I unplug the aux line.
Anyone else have a problem?
i had a conference call on my phone in the car via my AUX input today. The parties were heard through the speakers of the car and they were able to hear me, but complained about a really bad echo and that I was VERY hard to hear. These in car conference calls were fine on my EVO with the same setup. I have not tried the in car bluetooth yet as I didn't think I would need it. Will be trying that next.
Just did a test with my Nissan and had to pull out the AUX cable before I could hear the other end on my speakers. The other end said they could hear me the entire time.
Something is going on with the aux cable. I really like the phone, but I don't like trying to figure **** out.

I was under the impression that the mic becomes disabled when the AUX cable is in. Had similar behavior on my old Palm Centro. It went into "headset" mode and the mic turned off. In my thread, someone said that it is working fine. Perhaps there is something else causing it?
Do you use or does the Samsung voice dial app automatically launch when you put your aux cable in? Mine does. The mic does not work for it either. Maybe its the culprit?
***** My issue was fixed by changing the TTY settings *****
Settings>Call Settings>TTY mode>TTY VCO
Its just an aux cable, no mic to it. I plug it in and dont see anything in the status bar and no apps launch.
Right, but when the AUX cable is put in, the Microphone on the epic is disabled, at least that's my working theory. IDK, maybe its just something with mine, but at the moment, no-one can hear me when the aux cable is installed, and i cannot use the voice search applications
***** My issue was fixed by changing the TTY settings *****
Settings>Call Settings>TTY mode>TTY VCO
I will give that a try, any idea what that mode does? Manual doesn't really help.

VCO stands for Voice carry over. I could be wrong on the exact purpose, but i understand that it is designed to allow those with hearing impediments but capable of speaking to use their own voice while their speaker is hooked up to another device to assist in hearing.
Basically, it keeps the microphone on the device "ON" while the audio is outputted to another device. In our case, the car speakers.
Otherwise, when the device is outputting audio, it is looking for another source of voice input. If you car had a hands-free option built in, it would work just fine without changing the setting as the voice input would be coming from the hands free option.
Just a guess really. Glad its working for me, hope it works for you!
Yes it wierd, My car does have bluetooth built in, but when the aux cable is plugged in it doesn't send sound to the handsfree. Not sure what the issue is.

Can anyone also confirm that this works?
I have an iphone 4s right now, but I really want to go back to android and get a GSII, but that bluetooth problem was a big hassle when I had the Epic 4G. However, with the Epic 4G, someone wrote an app that would allow you to reroute sound through bluetooth with the aux was plugged in. I'm hoping there's a fix out there...

Headphone jack: slight knocks change track

Hi
I'm having a really unbearable problem with the headphone jack - any slight knocks to the headphone connector cause the track to skip or pause - as if I were pressing buttons on a button controller. My headphones are mid-range Shures (i.e. high build quality) and do not cause this behaviour on other phones. Has anyone had anything similar? Or have any suggested workarounds? It makes it basically impossible to use the phone to listen to music with whilst walking...
Many thanks

Yes: I get that behaviour too.
Took mine back to the shop for a replacement. Seems to be fine on the new handset.
Same problems here. Returned the first one to Best Buy,and the new one has the same problem. It's it just a software update to fix it?
Same here. Touching or slightly tapping the headphone plug either pauses/skips the track or opens up Voicemate (which cannot be disabled in settings). There has to be some software running that 'manages' audio connections.
I tried LG support and they didn't address the issue at all but said it might warrant an RMA.
Mine was fine for two weeks and just noticed the problem today. It's highly frustrating.
Update: noticed for some reason sometimes when the headphones are plugged in it recognises it as a headset and thats when knocking the phone jack either triggers voicemate or skips tracks. If you get it to recognise it as headphones it seems to be fine.
Same here. Sometimes with my audio cable it recognizes it as headphones. Sometimes when I plug in the audio cable it doesn't work at all unless I unplug it a few times. Overall volume for audio cable and Bluetooth is pretty low too.
Last two days the problems got worse for me to the point I can't get it to detect my headphones properly, always a headset. I did notice however that if it detects it as a headset the volume would be quieter even on the same sound setting.
To stop the annoying issue for now, as I use PowerAmp, I have enabled the PowerAmp lockscreen widget and disabled the headset controls. As I never use a headset (BT or otherwise) this seems to have stopped the knocks skipping tracks for me.

Yep I can confirm above fixed issue and besides PowerAmp S**ts on stock player.
I have only noticed it in my cars when listening to Spotify . I use an aux port and a 3.5 mm cable in both. My issue is the phone not recognizing a cable is plugged in some of the time. I have to repeatedly unplug and replug until it recognizes it. Seems to work better if I unplug from the stereo rather than the phone. It had also kicked off a few times between songs. So far it's been fine with headphones, but very limited use, so inconclusive. I'm not sure if the cause, but stinks of a software bug.

Same here except it happens when I'm using Google Maps to navigate on my bike..........any little bump on the road and it goes to Voice Activation. It's really annoying and frustrating
I have to unplug and plug the cable several times in the car before it will recognize an aux connection. Thinking of trying a different cable, who knows, it might help. But it does sound like a software problem rather than a hardware one

I contacted customer service (UK) regarding this matter. This is what they replied and I quote:-
Hi Steven,
Thank you for your query regarding your LG G3 (D855).
After reading through your email and looking into this for you I can advise that the problem you are experiencing is going to be down to the phone using the KnockOn Function against your leg. In this instance we would like you to try and face the phone screen so it is not touching your leg when it is in your pocket and to make sure there is nothing else in the pocket with your G3.
This could also be affected by the Genuine LG G3 head/earphones not being used. Please make sure you are using the correct Head/earphones whilst performing the above test.
If you still experience a problem after doing this then we would highly advise for you to contact us back so we are able to investigate this further and resolve this for you.
We hope this works for you Steven.
I hope my email has answered your query and assisted you today; I would really appreciate your feedback. Please help us to improve our customer service by completing the short survey after this email.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards
Josh

Same problem
I am getting the same issue where Headphone jack: slight knocks change track.
I read Stevemiddies post about what LG said. (good work Steve for raising to them) and I dont see how it be down to the "knock on". I have taken phone out and cant replicate issue by "knocking" the phone anywhere. But the smallest of touches on the headphone input to the LGG3 causes it to pause or skip tracks...
I also read Kinnyfaifais post about how using poweramp can stop this. Great bit of advice. but i dont really want to have to pay for poweramp to fix an issue which LG should fix..it cant be right that a phone with headphones cant be put in your pocket!!! I have the quick circle case too.
COME ON LG lets see a fix

For sure the response from LG was not really relevant to this issue.
I have used my Shure SE 535's, Sennheisers, Klipch's and of course the LG supplied headphones. The problem remains.
I don't believe it has anything to do with the 'knock code' personally. The problems happen every time I move the headphone jack at the point of entry to the phone.
I also have the Poweramp Pro version but despite following previous posters advice, it has not resolved the problem.
It remains deeply frustrating.

It didn't solve it for me in the end either. As I have root, I disable VoiceMate through TiBu. I agree it's highly annoying and LG needs to address this issue.

[Q] Headphone Jack issue?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this issue as Google shows. Has anyone found a fix to the stupid headphone jack not working thing. How if you use certain devices the phone will not output audio. Like the aux in my car or at my work? BT works fine. Headphones work fine its mainly aux. Unplugging the device and replugging it a few times will eventually solve the issue. the thing I think is funny. I plug my aux in and it shows the little aux symbol on my phone in the status bar. but as soon as I start Google Music, it goes away and disables the aux cable. obviously that is a software thing. Is anyone working on it?
