question about verizon replacement policy - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I talked to a vzw rep last night about my replacement incredible. It's having the same problems as the last one. I've only had it 2 days. I'm having a third replacement shipped to me, should be here around July 16th due to back orders.(but you all knew that)
My question is can i replace my incredible with another phone? Like I paid 300 for the incredible, and I used the 30 day worry free guarantee for a replacement, got the same phone (incredible), used another 30 day worry free (lol), and now I have a 3rd device on it's way. If I'm having the same issues with this phone, can I just replace it with another phone? Most notably the new motorola phone coming out. I had a Moto Droid, and never had issues like this, so I figure I'll go back to motorola if it's possible.
I called vzw and the rep said "we can't do that sir, because you had your moto droid replaced with the incredible" But I didn't have my moto droid replaced with an incredible, I still have it on my account, just someone else uses it now. She said that she doesn't know because the phone isn't even out yet.
so, did I confuse anyone? Hopefully someone that knows about this can help. Thanks for reading!

You have 30 days to replace a new phone that you get with a different model phone. Since all you did was replace the same phone twice because it wasn't working correctly then you should still have the 30 day option available to you. It only makes sense.

If you ***** enough they'll give in. I went thru this with T-Mobile with a Cliq and ended up with a My Touch after 4 phones.

when i was with alltel and had a tp1 it was replaced a few times due to overheating and crashing all the time, and they gave me a tp2.
It just seems me and htc phones don't get along lol.
this incredible is a great phone in some areas, but horrible in others. I'm not a picky person, but I can't deal with my phone constantly shorting out on the headphone jack and going all nutty, and starting voice dialing by itself and skipping tracks and pausing my music while i'm in the car. And that problem with the screen being non-responsive in the car mount is really bad on this replacement. Even plugged into the aux line on my stereo I figured it would be grounded somewhat, but the screen never works. The first phone didn't have that problem.
so to summarize: inc 1, horrible 3.5mm headphone jack issues when plugged into car, but no real complaints about screen.
inc 2, horrible screen responsiveness, 3.5mm headphone jack not as bad, but really annoying still.
After the vzw lady told me they couldn't replace it with a different phone I said, "well how much do you want to spend on shipping charges? If I'm having the same problem with the same phone I'll just keep returning it."
@ KB Smoka: That's what I thought too, but she said only the first 30 days I can replace the phone with a different one. I hope that isn't the case. If I have to replace it again I give up...

I agree with money226....If you dont take no for an answer they'll give in.

ya they should b able, just be persistant

Insurance question

My headphone jack is failing on me all of a sudden. With a little bit of movement it stops sending sound towards one side of the headphones. My phone has A LOT of scuffs and scratches. Will I be able to get it fixed by taking it to a Sprint store? Or would I have to send it to Asurion?
I personally haven't dealt with this problem, so I'm assuming here.
If the jack is off the board (similar to charging port issues) with peeled circuit board, it would be an insurance claim. Otherwise, the store can handle it.
Yep, Sprint's official policy is, if the port is loose on the board, they will replace it. If the port is completely broken off, they will send you to asurion.
As far as the scratches, most stores dont care about scratches. If you have cracks, dents, etc, then they will probably turn you away.
Okay, I took my phone today and they said they'll give it a look. Hour and a half later they returned it and said they fixed the problem. Also, they replaced my kick stand and camera which is really nice of them. The technician even did a final check with her headphones to see if it was fixed. I went home and when I plugged in my headphones I got sound from both sides. All fine and dandy until I moved and then no more noise from the right side. Same issue. I know it isn't broken off since if I jiggle the headphone jack slightly there is sound coming off both sides. (checked to see if my headphones were the problem with multiple things but I got sound from both sides) If the headphone jack gets a little movement then the sound gets cut off again. I then went a second time and said the problem was happening again and brought my headphones and my iPod this time with me to show them that my headphones weren't the problem. The sales rep took out his headphones and told me nothing was wrong. He said my headphones needed more power to function properly. (I have been using my headphones with my EVO for 6 months without a problem) His headphones had a 90 degree jack while mine had a straight jack. (This might have helped them see the problem) I showed him the problem using my headphones and he definitely acknowledged it. He finally told me that since they have no issues using their headphones, there isn't a thing they can do.
What can I do so they can fix it?
Here are pictures of the different jacks:

This is similar to my headphones. Notice how the jack is long and straight.
This jack is similar to the sales rep's headphones. Notice how short it is.
Actually, it sounds like a wire in your headphones may be kinked or shorted, since it worked with a different pair of headphones. I've had the same thing happen, thinking that the port went out when it was actually the headphones.
Try a third pair and see if it does it.
I love The Wall, nice headphones too
If it isn't the headphones, just try a different store. I've been to two different Sprint stores with problems with my Evo - one store gave me a hard time while the other replaced the phone no questions asked... for the same problem.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
Yeah, just to double check, try your headphones with a few devices just to make sure thats not it. But it has nothing to do with the "power" of your headphones, they are dumb.
Otherwise, try a different sprint store. If the headphone port is loose or broken, there is no way to fix it. They need to completely replace the main board, or give you a new phone. Don't stop trying until they do, Sprint is cheaper than my grandma, they will fight you to not replace your device so they dont lose a few bucks.

[Q] 3.5mm input jack - problem or normal?

Hey today I've noticed that when I gently push the headphone jack cable/plug to the right (while holding the phone in front of me) the sound cuts off on the left headphone.
It doesn't matter which headphones I use, it always happens.
Here's a picture I did:

However it doesn't happen on it's own (at least not yet..). It only happens when I pull the cable by accident (and then fixes itself right away) or gently push it towards right.
Is this a common issue in HTC phones? I've googled the problem and I see that Desire models had the same problem, well kind of, the jack was too lose after time.
Is this fixable on my own, or do I have to send it over warranty when it finally brakes (I just assume it will someday).
Thanks!
unless you can find the jack and are real good @ soldering you'll have to send it in for replacement. I have a few g2s in the family all somewhat old and none have this issue. I have heard of others mentioning it though. of course I assume you have ruled out the headset as the problem, trying others?

Tried 3 pairs of headphones, it's not a problem though, it doesn't happen on it's own, I've also asked my friend (he has the G2 as well) and he says this happens to him too but only on the original headphones. Until it works fine I won't be sending it for repairs (we can't really get replacements that easily where I live) - I can't afford not to have a phone for 2-3 weeks.
I guess that the metal thingy just resized itself while putting in some other than original jack plug into it. That's too bad.
Thanks.
Oh, crap. Same thing happens with mine, I though I had broken it. Guess it's common?
Tried it, but had no problems with 2 different headphones. Having the phone in tight jeans with headphones can cause some problems. I would recommend not pushing it around, as you might damage the rest of the circuit.

You will NOT believe this. I rooted my phone today, installed Mimi ICS rom.
The problem disappeared completly (I am 100% positive on this, tried to push it VERY hard a second ago). How the **** is that possible? Can anyone explain?
My Desire Z changes songs everytime i push that, it´s really annoying at the gym.
Huh I thought it was just me, or the particular jack I was using. Haven't tried it in a bit since I've been using Bluetooth.

What should i do?

Ok.. i had a little accident a couple of weeks ago at work and destroyed my one x screen

Now the phone seemed fine, from what i could see from the third of the screen that was still working. It still booted up and charged etc, still got calls..
I looked into getting a screen replaced and to my disbelief i found out it would cost me £120. I figured i'd get a replacement and fix it myself, as the phone is only worth about 200 quid now anyway.
I bought a LCD from Ebay for £50 and i successfully opened the phone and removed the broken lcd/digitizer and replaced it with the new one.
Ok you might all be thinking.. "whats the problem" - Well it appears i've snapped the powerflex cable, close to where the button is connected to it.
(I think those of you in the know will know what i mean)
I'm torn between 3 options here..
1. Buy a powerflex replacement £6.50 and install it myself, bearing in mind there might be something else wrong.. or the LCD just doesn't work..
Also i'm not 100% sure the powerflex part is easily removed/installed. I know one section of it is a snap-in connector.. not sure about the left side of it.
2. Get it done professionally for £50ish - bearing in mind the phone is in bits, and the shop i send it to might make up some BS stories about how i've destroyed other bits needing replacing etc etc..
3. forget it all and sell it on ebay as spares/repair - bearing in mind all my sensitive data, apps, and pictures are still in the phone
I just wanna get it fixed, working, and all my data and stuff off it so i can sell it i probably would have kept it had all this disaster not happened, but I'm in the new phone mindset now and my contract ends next month :fingers-crossed:
For 6.50 it has to be worth a try, you're gonna get a lot more money, and satisfaction, for it if its fully working. and if it doesn't work, well it's just the price of a MacDonalds. oh and if it's the cable I'm thinking of it's no worse than any other one in there.

I'm going towards that route tbh...
This is the part. I tore the right most part.. just below the button.
Got to fix a new power flex mate
The phone albeit might be worth £200 to you but with a bust screen/power flex its worth £70/100 on ebay
Just make sure while youve got it in bits you dont knock off any of the contection tabs

[HELP] Samsung claims my i747 is water damaged. Never spilled even a drop on it.

I'll try to make a short story short. I bought an AT&T S3 full price, off contract, in the States if that matters. (I live in Canada.) Five months ago it bit the dust out of nowhere in a most peculiar way - it does not power on regularly with only the battery (I have tried a friend's working battery) nor charge with USB inserted, but does power into download mode when a 301K jig is inserted with only the battery, and it lets me fully flash an ODIN image. When ODIN autoreboots the device, it boots to the first boot logo (no animation or sound) and does not proceed. Pulling the battery gets us back to square one, device does not boot at all.
Let me be clear before I proceed: this phone has been babied, never come into contact with any water of any form, and never dropped. The liquid damage indicators are, of course, white as ghosts.
So what to do? Call Samsung and send in for repair. Their findings?
Code:
Original Problem:
INSTALLATION - POWER - WILL NOT POWER UP
Problem found:
CORROSION, LIQUID DAMAGE
Solution:
BER
BER means beyond economic repair, apparently. So, I call them back, insist they fix their damn products, speak with a manager
(who describes that the damage as corrosion to the menu/back key connector, she specifically described "14 vertical components and they look very rusted, yeah that looks damaged to me")
I insist they are wrong, the whole nine yards, etc, they clear the BER flag and let me send it in again.
...and they say it's liquid damaged AGAIN. Exact same story. Just now apparently it magically migrated to a new location. The tech stuck a red chevron on my board over the PM8921 IC, which would make sense if the device won't power on I suppose, but there's no corrosion to be found anywhere.
This is where I am right now. I'm pretty furious at Samsung and I cannot go to my carrier because I was an idiot and bought the device full price.
Here are pics of my device to prove what BS Samsung is trying to pull here. Sorry for bad quality, the Nexus 4 is horrible at macro focus.:

Does anybody know who I can complain to in order to actually get my phone fixed under warranty? It has warranty until December (which is useless by the looks of it) Small claims court? Better Business Bureau?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Update: Called Samsung again today (got to Tier 1 right away), and after politely asking to speak with Tier 2 (and being put on hold for nearly a half hour...), I asked to speak with Executive Customer Support. This was the department I ended up with last time that was actually able to resolve issues instead of repeating themselves over and over. I was informed that they are only in on weekdays.
Looks like I'll be calling back on Monday...
Another update: Finally got through to Executive Customer Relations, who promised me a call back to go over the details of the case. I will be giving them links to these photos to compare what they claim versus what I see, so hopefully we get somewhere.
Was your phone used or new?
New, sealed.

No backlight - FIXED

Hi,
I had some trouble with this phone. Long story short, I worked in US and my job take a open me a plan with at&t so I can use the phone back in canada with rogers.
Since the Gpro is only available in US, I thought it was a great idea to have a ''unique'' phone.
It worked fine for 2 weeks ( led notification stop working). UNDER light use.
Then after some time, the LCD ips backlight stop working. With a flashlight I was able so see the screen but it wasn't clever.
I asked LG several time, but the moment I told them the phone is in canada, they wont help me, even if I paid with us money on us territory.
Like if I live on the moon, it took 40 minutes to get to the border....
They finally admit that some of the first batch got problem with the screen, but still wont exchange it.
F*ck them, I tried to repair it myself.
#1 - Clean the contacts with 70% alcohol. No luck
#2 - Buy a new IPS LCD on ebay . No luck.
#3 - Clean the whole device with contact cleaner. No luck

#4- Then I do remember some HP laptop and Xbox 1st gen got soldering problem, so you put it in the oven and they work again.
So nothing to loose, I put the MOBO in the oven, convection bake, 375*´F for 10 minutes. Smell of plastic and the mobo bent (use aluminium support to avoid that)
YES! It worked. But since I use the contact cleaner, my screen was blurry.
So after 2 months of testing, I bought a second screen plus the home button assembly to get my LED notification back .
But the LED notification never come back
I found a app called buttonLED, so the back and menu button flash when I got a call/sms.
In conclusion, I had 2 LG , E980 and someone give the 3D (thrill), and both got problem, software AND hardware.
I'm on xda since I have the motorolla milestone (one of the first android device) and the Desire Z. Those 2 devices still working fine, the HTC desire Z 2010 to 2014!!! Still in good shape.
LG device are poorly craft from what I saw and what I can read on xda.
I repair a lot of devices, but nothing like this one. It was clearly a soldering problem.
For all of you who can have this kind of problem, use this method on LAST resort. It may not work for you, but did the trick for me.
