increase MMS auto picture compression - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody know how to modify the mms.apk to allow to send and receive larger pictures. Right now it auto compresses the original photo too small around 7kb to 20kb. I would like to set around 300kb to 1mb.

mms photos being resized down to 160x120

Seem to have a problem where no matter what settings I use in mms settings.. the photos that people mms me get resized down to 160x120. I've tried different settings in photo resolution.. from original to vga and no matter what I choose the photos still come out resized down. When I recieve a message it says it's downloading 40k or whatever.. then after it's down downloading the picture is only like 3-4k. Any ideas? Thanks. Have a sx66 with the v140rom 1.13radio and using cingular.

emailing photos?

i used to have an iphone before and when i took and photo and wanted to send it to someone it would automatically adjust the file size of the photo and send it within seconds.
Is there a way to do this with the desire? my photo sizes are normally just over 1mb which is a little to high to send via email, on the iphone the file size was the same but it would resize it for mailing purposes.
thanks.

Default messaging app shrinking pictures too much for MMS

Can anyone else test this: I send a picture that's more than 300k and the messaging app shrinks the picture to 20k OR LESS. This is pathetic! I have a whole 280k more to play with so why does the app shrink the picture to such a ridiculously small size? I've checked the maximum message size is selected in settings and there don't seem to be any problems with my APN settings.
Anyone found a way to fix this? Handcent does a much better job, sending pictures ten times the size....I like the look of the default app though.

Email Picture Compression issue

With the Galaxy S Epic I got, I was happy to see that I could 'compress' the photos when I attach them to an email. I like to take pictures in a higher resolution for my own home purpose, but when I want to send one or two in email (take picture on the road and want to share on the fly), it is nice to compress them down to a smaller size for faster sending and sharing (instead of sending the full size photo).
When I go to send an email, select the 'attach' option and select a picture or two, I select to compress the photos to 10% size. Type my text and send, that goes fine.
Normally when friends get the emails with the reduced picture file, the picture file is mostly blank. It has about 1/4 inch on the top of the photo with original photo material, and the rest of the photo is blank grey screen.
Meaning, they get the picture file completely, say 800x600, and the top 5 % is the photo and the reset of the picture is blank/grey.
I send copies home and get the same results.
The original pictures are fine when viewed on photo or later xferred to home PC.
Appears to be the photo compression feature itself that distorts the file, because all receivers have said/got the same distorted file. Meaning everyone who gets a copy of email, replies with same issue.
Is a bad option or bad compression tool in the phone?

Increase MMS size limit?

Is there a way to increase the allowed MMS size, or modify the compression that is done to images?
I'm coming from. Nexus 6P on Verizon, and images looked great incoming and outgoing, but on the SIDE+ everything is compressed and pixelated.
