Would you like to see a Speck CandyShell case for Evo? - EVO 4G Accessories

The only thing I miss about my iPhone is my Speck CandyShell case. If you would like to see a CandyShell for the Evo, please go to http://www.speckproducts.com/about/contact_us and send them a note requesting they make CandyShell's for the Evo. If enough of us request it, maybe they will consider! It's a long shot, i know
edit: after a week of owning the Evo, turns out there are more things I'm missing about my iphone then just the case unfortunately. namely battery life, charging time, and size/weight. don't get my wrong, i wouldn't go back. just saying...

hells no, they can keep their overpriced ****. i'm got my case off of ebay because i don't see the justice of paying over $15 for a case. that's all it is folks, a plastic case. i aint paying $35 for something i can get off of ebay for $9.

YES! I've got the Candyshell case on my iPod Touch, and I was just searching for news on one for my Evo. I sent in a request.

My friend has one of these for his iPhone and i like it, but it adds to much bulk. If they made a "slim" line, i would be DOWN cause it looks like it fits the phone well and keeps the dirt out from getting behind the case and scratching things up!

really? i feel just the opposite. its very slim, at least in my opinion. and to the guy saying $35 is too much for a case, you're right. thats why i got my candyshell on amazon for $16 shipped Im not too worried about the price of a case anyways, I mean I am putting a $550 device in it, so even if it was $35, no big deal. I have watched friend after friend crack their iphone screens, and I had dropped mine every way possible and not a crack or a scratch on it. a case needs to have a soft inside and a plastic outside to protect properly. thats just protection 101. you wouldn't wear a solid plastic helmet would you? no, that would hurt like hell. it needs to have padding in it! also, Speck does make "slim line" type cases without the soft inside, but obviously at a cost.

I heard back about my request:

After poking around their site I can't see where they've made ANY cases for HTC products before. Looks like they're mainly Fruit company products.

What i want is that Case-mate makes a leather skin on for the evo its awesome i would never care if i drop my phone i had the leather skin on my ipod for 1 year and i dropped it a multiple times a day and never a scratch on the ipod

TPU ftw.
I loved my speck cases, but now that I have bought an argyle TPU crystal gel case I'll never go back. I love these cases! TPU FTW!

Reconsider the benefits.

Reconsider the benefits of shelling out a few more dollars.
1.) Quality - The protection you get from a quality case vs. a plastic shell is justification enough. How long before you end up shelling out more money for a replacement due to "low quality" materials used for your case?
2.) Durability - A simple hard plastic shell does not absorb impacts very well and may not only break after one fall but can also allow enough internal jolt from a fall to not only damage an internal component in your device but can lead to a severe impact that will cause your screen to crack.
3.) Protection - Cheaper is not always better when it comes to protection. Would you buy a cheap ass condom hoping that it will protect you in the same way a known brand will offer it's protection for you?
For the retail price of $549.99, I'm willing to shell $25.00 to get a quality case for my investment.

I picked up the argyle TPU case as well, but its far from perfect. It will work until someone releases a decent 2 layered case (soft inside hard outside).. not really digging the Seidio Active. Ill rock the TPU until Speck or Otterbox releases something. I do like how thin the TPU case is, but I doubt it would save it from a serious fall the way my CandyShell did.
wanna see some really amazing cases that we cant use for the evo? http://more-thing.com/

Speaking of case-mate, they offer something similar to Speck's CandyShell, though not for the Evo: custom.case-mate.com/mixandmatch/cases/hybrid-tough-custom-cases/

Actually Case-Mate should be launching their case and product line for the EVO soon. Of course, they have to get the iPhone 4 cases out first
On topic, I seriously doubt that Speck will release anything for the EVO. After looking at their site, the only other phone they accommodate is Blackberry.

I know this thread is very dead, but I wanted to revive it. I'm surprised more people don't want a speck case for their evos. I have to say, I love them. I would probably ditch my ext battery just to throw one on. The reason I am reviving this is because recently I saw they added the HD7 and the HTC incredible to their list of covered phones.
To speck:
Cmon, otterbox gets it. Its not only uninformed users that want your cases. Don't you see the market potential? Image where you could be at with sales on the evo if you woulda made one when I as well as many others requested it when the EVO came out. Its still is sprints flagship, and one of the most covered phones out, still.

OP here, i saw those too and it revived a glimmer of hope. Honestly at this point its too late i just hope they make one for evo 3d.

Yeah, I know.. its a shame.
I don't get how they choose their phones to cover. INC and HD7 are the ONLY android phones? hrmm.. You'd think the evo would be one of the easiest phones to make one for. Meh.

Incipio feather, Speck Candy Shell, and Bodyglove cases

I was browsing around the AT&T web store, and saw these cases available. I'm happy to see the Incipio feather case make the list. While I typically don't put cases on my phones, I'm a big fan of the feather case. It's so low-profile that it almost feels naked (although, I'm not sure if the phone would still fit in the docks).

I agree. But the blue actually looks pretty good with the stock homescreen.
Incipio makes great cases. When i had my iPhone, that is the only case i'd buy. When my wife got an iPhone, that is the case i got her. They fit well, they arent overly bulky, and they are strong.
The only reason i havent ordered one yet is because i also got the dock and i dont think that the phoen will sit in the dock with the case on. That is a deal breaker for me.
I bought the speck but would trade for a feather if anyone is interested.
Personally the only case I'm interested in is a TPU case...And I'm not going to get one until there's a non-patterned one available. Who ever thought it was a good idea to have argyle print on a phone case?
Has anyone been able to find screen protectors anywhere yet? There is one built into the otterbox defender case i bought from att for my atrix when i get it - but i havent been able to find any screen protectors like i have for my captivate....

I ordered the two pack of anti glare screen protectors from att.com along with the body glove case.
The Speck cases look nice but they scratch easily, the feather cases tend to get worn from being rubbed on in your pocket and from sliding on tables, and the body glove always worked well on my Captivate.
Anyone have a link to these? I'd really like to buy one, I just cant seem to find them on any of the manufacturers websites nor AT&T online....
Try phantomskinz. Best screen protector I've ever had. 2 for 9.99 and feels like glass. I dont know if they are out yet tho.

about $30? I don't have the receipt in front of me at the momemnt so I don't know exactly... It is very very nice though. Glossy and soft on the inside and very thing... just no covering for the ports. but then again I have never had a case cover the ports so its all good. I plan on checking out the commuter and maybe returning the speck.

Oooh, yea the commuter covers the ports (which I always found annoying btw) I was leaning more towards the candyshell because it looks so...... beautiful. Does it make the phone substantially fatter though? Also, does AT&T charge a re-stocking fee for accessories?

I don't know about the restocking fee.. I'm going to guess no, because the guy that helped me out seemed like an informed, nice dude. And when I asked him about the return policy he didn't mention restocking.
I actually don't have my phone yet - I didn't pre order so I am going to be picking it up tomorrow morning. I have opened up the speck though and checked it out... the size of the case is not big at all. I think it is comparable or even slightly thinner than the otterbox commuter, if that helps you at all. It is in fact a really nice, well designed case. The black plastic is glossy, which could be a good thing (probably easy to slip in and out of pocket) or it could be a bad thing (aquires light scratches from being placed on hard surfaces). I will have to see how it holds up for a few days (I take great care of my things) but I might just end up keeping it.

Thanks . I've owned all kinds of cases from pretty much all the major manufacturers (otterbox, speck, case-mate, incipio, boxwave) for different phones and have never gotten the chance to try out a Candyshell before so, thats why I was leaning towards it. That was very informative and helpful.

yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with the candyshell. It is pretty nice all around. Especially if you don't care to have the ports covered, then this is just as good or better than the otterbox for you.
I just wanted to update... The Speck case IS NOT my idea of a case. It is too thick, and adds too much bulk to an otherwise slim phone without providing the best coverage. The rubber is annoying...Would NOT purchase this case. I am returning in the morning. I want to stick to the otterbox commuter.
The Incipio Feather does, in fact, come in black. I just bought one this morning when I picked up my Atrix at RadioShack.

Case v. No Case?

God I hate using a case with this phone. Its so thin, yet hearty. And looks so damn good naked.
Has anyone found a case that barely impedes on the thickness of the device yet still provides adequate protection? I use the OEM gel skin and it's great protection but I'll be damned if it doesn't thicken my phone up like a sunuvabitch. Makes it feel like my old t-mo Wing!!!!

let me start by saying...i HATE cell phone cases...ive had all kinds of phones from nextels to moto pebbles to the mytouch 4g and never once NEVER have i bought a case for one
so knowing that...i bought one of the tpu fusion cases...let me tell you something...i couldnt be happier with this case...very thin...very light...lots of good grip and feel to the case and it fits the phone like a glove
now i dont have a whole helluva lot experience with cases especially for this phone...but this tpu fusion case has to be hands down the best just based on what ive read and seen about the other cases for this phone
so i recommend you spend the 5$ it costs for the tpu fusion case and just order one

BTW im not any type of sales person or anything for the cases or the people who sell em....just love this case a lot
That's what I keep hearing. Thanks for the insight, and the link. I can't believe the TPU cases are so damn cheap...

I LOVE the way the MT4G looks and feels without a case. However, I've dropped my phone 3 times in the past month. Each time was indoors on carpet or hardwood, but still it was enough to keep me using my Epik cases.
I just wish the cases were just a little thinner. I'd risk less impact protection for a slimmer profile.
I bought the sleeve that came with the Nexus One off of eBay for $5. A little snug at first but after a few days fits perfect.
I like it because you get the naked feel of the phone but it's protection in your pocket. It also cleans the fingerprints off for you I've been using it for 3 months and my phone looks brand new.
Plus it's stylish with the little Android logo on it.
Have you tried a skin? I know it's not the same as a hard case, offers less impact protection, but it adequately protects the phone from cosmetic scratches and blemishes, and I do believe it helps with your typical cell-phone drop (i.e. I think it helps protect the phone when dropped a few feet, but anything hgher than 5 or 6 feet and it won't make much of a difference). But with any case, if a phone takes a long fall it's gone, and I don't plan on tossing it off the side of a roof. I've been using Best Skins Ever for about a month and am REALLY pleased. Like you, I'm not fond of big bulky cases - I like the natural look of the phone, and these skins allow me to protect it while not impeding on the size or look of the phone AT ALL. BSE is all I've tried but there are many different kinds - a lot of people complain of orange peel/grip issues, but I am totally happy with the BSE, and I'm picky about texture.
On a note, i don't understand why people put a super thick case on a thin phone, like a otterbox defender case on a iPhone 4.... totally defeats the purpose of a thin phone and looks dorky...

Slip case for MT4G
I do exactly what Joey above does-use an OEM Nexus One case. Protects the phone and you get the nice feel of its shape and texture when you unzi-- I mean, take it out.
But I turn the N1 case inside out because I hate the feel of the regular fabric.
FWIW my phone got a lot creakier after I put on a TPU case. I developed a creak by the camera button after using it naked for a few weeks. I than got a TPU case from ebay, and now if I remove the case, the whole top creaks when naked.
Maybe it would have happened anyways, but I thought i'd throw it out there.

since i just scratched my chrome bezel after owning it for a couple months im going to get the case. ugh why did i wait
I'm aganist cases, just because it hides the beauty of a device and the thiness. But I just got a solid black glossy TPU case and it looks awesome, I got it off ebay and don't think the seller has anymore of them. But my phone is white and I hate it, I kick myself for getting the white one, actually had no choice, when I traded my G2 off cragislist.
But with this case, I don't see any white, except around the charger port, and **** looks sick. And I'm the type of person that can't stand any scratches on their phone, I need it to look perfect and brand new. Never say you won't drop the phone and get a nasty scratch on it.
I would prefer not having a case, but my biggest concern is getting dust under the LCD. My e-71 was a very solid phone, and it eventually started getting dust under the screen. I hope to have the mt4g for a while and I'm trying to avoid any dust issues.

My TPU case just saved my life again! Fell 4 feet onto the tiles and just bounced onto its back, zero harm done.

Curious how a case would prevent dust from getting under the LCD? Where does the dust enter?
Wow, they got here fast via regular mail! Look and feel is great. The black is solid black, not transparent at all, which is good for me. The purple I got for my wife is indeed just as seen on the website.
Buttons have a good, positive feel, not hard to press at all. Texture on the sides is nice and provides good grip. Best of all, makes the phone feel like the lean mean machine it is, unlike the T-Mobile skins they replaced.
Here are some pics of it on my phone:

To be honest, I'm not sure. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the dust somehow gets pushed into the phone's cracks from pressure/friction of just pulling in in/out of pockets. Adhesives/seals never stay perfect, and it's just a matter of time. This has always been an issue with Phones/PDAs.
A case is basically another layer of protection. Also, since the phone is thicker pocket lint is now rubbing against the case, not directly rubbed into the phone's edges/cracks.
That's the theory anyway. My phone just fell off my bed and hit a table.
It was comforting to hear a rubbery impact versus a metal/wood whack.

Otterbox Commuter & XO Skins Screen protector Review w/ PICS!

Hey xda members, 2 days ago i got my Otterbox Commuter case, and today i recieved my XO Skins screen protector.
This is my first time writing a review, so please bare with me lol
So I've been using the otterbox case for a few days now and i must say I LOVE IT!
the fit is very nice, looks great, and feels awesome. I have read that some people find it to be too slippery, but for me its great. I likke how it has the flaps for the charger port and headphones jack, helps keep out dust and such. It sits very nicely in the hand, i found the phone without any case to be a little slim and i felt like it was going to slip out everytime I held it. The one concern I have with this case is the power button, and those that have this case please let me know if it's the same with yours, i can't feel the button actually push in, it feels more like I just touch it and the screen comes on or off. Not sure if I like it or not but i am getting used to it now. The volume buttons on the other hand feel fine. At first i was worried that the case would make the phone look and feel bulky, as i had one for my X2, but i was surprised this doesn't add too much bulk. The phone, to me at least, feels perfect in my hand. Also this case covers up the the prongs below the power button, i don't mind or care about it but some of you might so keep that in mind. Also i do have the extanded battery 2100mAh too and did try it with this case and it's not a nice fit. There are some gaps on the sides and the buttons seem like they are pressed in at times so i would not recommend this case with the extended battery.
And just a few hours ago I recieved my XO Skins screen protector in the mail and put it on right away. My previous screen protector I had just before i put this one on was the verizon one, and it sucked. Cut outs were bad and too large for the toop speaker and there was about a mm of space on the edges of the screen, which i didn't like. The XO on the other hand is fantastic. The screen protector is almost invisible unless you look at the cutout for the front cam and light sensor. It goes right to the very edge of the screen which i like. The quality is also fantastic. The material feels somewhat like that of the ZAGG but no orange peel what so ever, which i also like. I did however order the ZAGG as well for the full body just to be safe lol.
Overall I recommend this case with this screen protector to anyone, both are a great combination. The case i got on ebay for 29.50 and free shipping and the screen protector i got from the XO website, and somewhere on here someone posted some discount coupons which i wish i would have seen before i bought mine but no biggy it was only 13.xx i believe plus 2.99 shipping
I also have on the way and SGP Neo Hybrid case which i will post a review once i get it. Got the Reventon Yellow.

^The cutouts are really nice and precise unlike the verizon one i had
Also, you can't really tell here but the XO skins doesn't affect the quality of the screen what so ever. took that pic on the Nexus actually hood of my car very nice pics even though some people complain.
If someone would like to know something more or see more pics let me know.
Thanks

Question about the XO skin (not directed towards the topic creator but I just figured that since this thread is somewhat related to it I could ask it here), how does the lifetime replacement warranty work? Is it like, you order it and get it but you apply it wrong somehow and it gets ruined they will send you back a new perfect one for you to apply?

Is it like, you order it and get it but you apply it wrong somehow and it gets ruined they will send you back a new perfect one for you to apply?

I sent them a email. They sent me a link to order a replacement with a rma #. You have to pay $3 and some change for shipping. They tell you too send back the original skin, but for me they sent the replacement upon payment for the shipping. Note that they don't send you any more solution so if you don't have any left you can order more from the site for $3. Not sure if the adding of the solution will increase the shipping costs since I didn't order it. Basically they sent the skins in a regular envelope for regular first class postage of $.44. So they really don't lose anything because they make about $3 on the postage.

That's good to hear. The CM Tough Case's silicon always attracted lint/dust, it appears this one seems better to avoid it.
Is the power button easy to depress with the commuter? My isn't clicky like the volume buttons. I do have a replacement coming soon.
It sucks no one sells the commuter locally. Where did you get it?

most likely lol.. ive seen them price drop on Amazon lately... bought myself the Commuter last night for ~$29 with free shipping.
Had a Case-Mate Tough Case before but was tired of the silicon attracting dust plus Case-Mate refunded me the money I paid for the case so it's like I got it for free because of the revision. Decided not to go with Case-Mate again and give this case a try as I bought a extended battery and that wouldn't fit with Case-mate.
Commuter: http://www.amazon.com/Otterbox-SAM4...22G6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326478967&sr=8-1
$28
Defender: http://www.amazon.com/Otterbox-SAM2...232E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326478967&sr=8-2
Cheapest: $36 (says $32 but you have to pay shipping)
bah looks like I paid $1 over oh well haha
I use the spray for a cleaner now. you can just refill the bottle with water. Add a drop of dish soap if you want. That's all it is. Someone sprayed some in their eye and they said that on their twitter account http://twitter.com/xoskins
That Otter box and xo combo looks great. I have been waiting to get the Otterbox for it, just waiting for it local. I'll probably just order online for it now.

Cool.
Thanks.
Thanks for the review! I think I'm gonna pop off my Defender SP and install one of those XO skins.
Why do they sell the case for cheaper on Amazon rather than their own site?

Otterbox or Trident Kraken?

I just got the E4GT two days ago, and now I'm looking for a case. I'm trying to decide between the Otterbox Defender and the Trident Kraken. Any opinions on either of them, or know of any better cases?

Pretty sure they don't make the Kraken for the E4GT. I could be wrong though. Both are companies that make very solid cases. Either one will protect your device beyond what you will need.

I have the Trident Aegis Case and i've looked into the the otterbox. I love the Trident because of the dust covers over the mic and speaker so you don't have to worry about dust getting stuck in there. Plus you can find the Trident case cheaper than the otterbox. Trident case on ebay 19.99 with free shipping and the otterbox case is 34.95 + tax.
i can give you my trident aegis for like 15-20$. put it on for a day and realized im not a case guy lmao

Yeah cases suck its called gorilla glass and just for good measure I got black tie protection, e4gt is super solid though.
Getting the defender from the sprinr store by the end of next week
The i believe the ageis is same level of protection as the commuter (34.95), the kraken would be on line with the dedender (49.95).. Right?

Yes but they don't make the kraken for the epic 4g touch.

The Aegis is what I was thinking of. The Kraken just happened to be the first Trident case that popped into my head for some reason.
Seidio Convert
I ran naked on my Optimus, on my Galaxy, and on my Optimus 2X. Then I dropped my Optimus2x from shoulder height in a parking lot, and the screen shattered. I work for sprint now, so I switched to use my discount, and bought the SGS2-E4GT the day it came out in white. I got the Seidio Convert combo on newegg. It's HUGE. But it comes apart to be a slim case or use the whole thing and have dust covers over the port, the clip seems pretty sturdy. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. It comes with one of those cheap static cling screen protectors, gonna go see if there is a visco-elastic polymer screen protector thread,
I own the trident aegis. Love the case. It offers protection for all the ports and has dust guards on the speaker and mic. The only thing I dislike is the rubber trident logo pops out on the back. No big deal.

Yeah I agree about the Seidio Convert. I had the Evo before my E4gt and had the case on that also. I work at an airport and beat the hell out of my phone but this thing keeps it spotless.

Yes, I too also agree. Convert is beast. Handles every bit of contracting work I do. From falls from roofs. To getting caught on doors. Nothing bothers it, and the saw dust does not get into any ports. And plus when I have a less hazardous environment to be in I can strip it down to just the Surface case; for just that little extra bit of protection.
I have used the Otterbox in the past for other phones and I would have to agree with most in here that the Trident Ageis is almost the same thing as the otterbox commuter, but better, more colors, the dust cover/port covers etc...
After a extensive research I decided to go with the trident case

I bought mine from that seller on Amazon, fast service, retail packaging.
This is the slipperiest phone I have ever owned, I don't even use it without a TPU or silicone case when in bed. It will pop out of my hands like a bar O soap.

Haha funny you say that because I saw the phone moving on its own down the crease of my bed and I was like o shoot it s possessed!!
I received mine in the mail today and it feels gray in my hands it gives it a reassuring grip.
It also comes with a screen protector.I don't think i'm going use it because the phone already has gorilla glass .so I don't really need it right?

Griffin Survivor Military Case for Galaxy S3

Dear friends,
Amongst the countless "fanboy" wars between samsung and apple, there is one product that I would not mind taking the fire for, which is the Griffin Survivor Military Case for the 4s. Okay i just realised that I sound like a salesperson now, but that thing looks like a beast, my friend has it on his iphone and looking at it it would be the first case I would't mind dropping on the floor just to test it.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-Survivor-Military-Tested-iPhone/dp/B004R97CXI
http://www.griffintechnology.com/armored
Apart from the hard plastic cases such as the kraken/defender etc. Is there a hard rubber alternative for our s3s? I have sent a request email to the company asking them to design one for our precious galaxy s3s, if anyone else would help out and send some request letters it would give us another very good case to protect our s3s.
Here is their Email address, so if everyone could leave a message showing interest I am sure we would get far [email protected]

Update:
Just got in touch with Griffin Technology:
Griffin Technology: We do not plan on releasing one anytime soon, but we appreciate your feedback. Many product decisions are based on such customer interest. ^Mike
Looks like if we generate enough interest they'd be pushed into making it. If everyone sends a short email to them telling them we would be interested, with our numbers I am sure we would get one
Wouldn't hurt to have more choices with cases

That looks like it would be a solid option. I'd probably buy it to try it out if they made it. I'd also like to see a ballistic HC as well.

Lol yeah, the 4s is ****:highfive:, it is just a pity they tend to get quite a lot of accessories made for them due to being one flagship phone for apple..
Indeed - Otterbox Defender or Trident Kraken are about as good as you can do for an Android phone. While there may be more Android phones out there, there's a wide variety of shapes and sizes so it's hard for any one company to make a cool case like those. Apple only makes two or three shapes of phones and sell lots of them so it's easy for any company to make a variety of great cases for them for less money.
It sucks as far as getting cool cases sometimes, but at least you can easily mod the software on an SGS 3.

I saw that but it has plastic on the outside, which IMO feels cheap. This griffin survivor case, has a plastic shell in the inside and a hard rubber shell on the outside which makes the feel of the case really good. Its very sturdy as it simply bounces off the floor without transferring any of the stress to the phone,

I have a red Seidio Active. The case fits very well, looks great, has a kickstand, and does not add extreme bulk. But:
1. Your grip grabs mostly rubber. But, the rubber is surprisingly slippery. The plastic part is slightly textured and is not slippery.
2. The holster has side guides. If you don't line up the phone exactly between the side guides when you load the phone into the holster, then the side guides hit your screen. I have a screen protector, but the holster has made a few scratches in the screen protector.
i'd definitely buy this case if they made it for the gs3 :good:
The Defender is plastic on the inside and silicone on the outside just like this case.

oh sorry my bad, the issue is that the silicon has not got the same texture as the one on the survivor.

This is *one* of the reasons I chose the s3 over the evo lte. With all major us carriers releasing the same phone, as well as all the international sales, manufacturers such as griffin need to take notice. With the total amount of s3's sold, I honestly expected a whole lot more choices on accessories than what is currently available.

Yeah with 10mil sold I am surprised they are not tapping into it, thatswhy I am doing this little campaign to give them a little push. lets say they decide to bring one out next week, I am sure they'd be making a lot of sales with pre orders, given the current somewhat small number of options available to 10mil+ users.
So I would like everyone to just spent one minute in emailing them, I am sure with our number of users we could achieve this
bump
Saw my friend bought the griffin case for 4s pretty solid and the grip of the case is nice and not slippery. Was abit down though these company didn't make any of their cases for androids.

yeah it's a shame they aren't focusing on android that much
Just sent an email. Hopefully enough people will jump on this! It's an amazing case.
Unless your getting deployed overseas why would you want a case five times the thickness of your phone omg that case thick lol. Seven years running and no dropped phone knock on wood.
