Glad you find it hysterical, I've rooted every phone I own myself, the evo, the droid, G1, and the My Touch, just can't get the incredible to be seen in ADB. But glad I gave you some laughter for the evening, but seriously, if nothing positive or helpful to say, why bother?

I'm not trying to be in the least bit unhelpful or rude. Inviting people into your home to root your phone could be a very dangerous idea. You have no idea who these people are and what they want from you in return for rooting.
I wasn't trying to be going against you having root. It seems like team unrevoked is working on making root simpler; why not just wait until they are done? It may save you a stranger in your home doing whatever he may to your home, computer or phone.

Never said anything about my home, but I get your point, and appreciate you pointing that out, and unless they have a rooted incredible in hand would be nothing to discuss, and I figure $25 for 15 min of someones time is a very fair rate.

im sure someone will respond bouchedag, i've rooted 3 phones already from people that needed help in forums, too bad you dont live in socal. Best of Luck

Awww come on lol, noone around here

I'd gladly give you a hand, but I'm in Georgia atm. Taking an east coast road trip by motorcycle starting the first week of July. I have family in VA Beach and will be in town before the 10th. If there isn't an easier way to root by then I could give you a hand for free.

Finally rooted!
Big thanks and mad props to askani53, Thanks to him I now have full root, and thanks to the whole Unrevoked team for giving us a 100% fool proof NAND Unlock!!!!

More info please. I am also in Hampton Roads (Chesapeake), and have given up on trying to root after several wasted nights trying. Did you find someone local to help you out?

I'm in the area too and can't get root to work. I live in Newport news and work in smithfield if there is anyone willing to help....

Your welcome. No need to thank me, though, all I did was tell you over the phone what worked for me and it happened to work for you.

Please share

This is how I did it.
With the phone on, enter adb reboot recovery in the cmd prompt. When you see the white screen, pop the sd card out, wait 5 seconds, pop it back in. After you here the Windows ding indicating a connected device, enter adb devices in cmd and your device serial number should appear indicating that you have adb in recovery. If you continually get " List of devices attached" with nothing else, hold Vol + and hit Power then select reboot on the phone. Right before you see the Verizon screen, you can enter adb reboot recovery in cmd and start all over. It might take a few tries to get it, but I was able to get adb in recovery over half the times I tried. All other methods failed for me.
Here is the original post on Android Central: forum.androidcentral.com/htc-droid-incredible-roms-hacks/17483-easy-way-get-adb-recovery.html (I will apologize for being new and not able to insert a link). It is probably posted somewhere around here as well. Hope it helps.

[Q] Phone Will Not Boot / Bricked

Hi there...
So I have a slight issue. I've been away from the XDA community for a while now, and anyways, I came back and wanted to upgrade into the latest Fresh 3.5.0.1 Rom. So I downloaded it, new radios, and new pri pack, and put it on and went to work. Now that I'm here at work, I flashed 3.5, the new radios, and the new pri. Rebooted (I think I probably should have rebooted after flashing the rom, before loading up the others :-\). I got the wonderful green error arrow thing. I've had this happen before when flashing roms, so I pulled the battery, waited a few minutes, then put it back in. Pushed the power button, and now I have a brick. It won't power up at all.
So I need help, as I've never had a brick before and I'm stuck here at work, working on my mac laptop. Any advice on how to get the phone to start into recovery so I can nandroid backup would be wonderful.
Edit: I was upgrading from Fresh Evo 3.3.0.1. According to Fresh, I should have been able to flash this rom over my old version. :-\
Edit2: Realized that General wasn't a good place for my to ask my question, so I brought it over here.
Are you positive the battery didn't get super drained? Regardless, if possible, keep it on a charger in the meantime.

My battery was around 95%.
Alright, and what is this about a green error arrow? Try removing the battery for a few minutes, again and see if it powers up. Keep it on a charger.
After it wouldn't turn on, I pulled the battery for about 5 minutes, then put it back in--nothing. It's sitting on the charger atm; I might stop in at the Sprint Store during my lunch break and see if they can replace it without me getting hit with the 100$ deductible from Asurion :-\
Well, keep it on the charger. By any chance, anyone else in the office that has an Evo where you can test the battery to make sure it didn't magically die on you?
If not, try putting the battery back in and holding the power for an extended time...like a minute. I have heard that to work on occasion.
The green arrow was downloading the radio img. I think your pretty much bricked when u pulled the battery u caused it to stop downloading the img. Dors it by any chance enter bootloader if not itsbricked

DOH! Yea then it's bricked. It doesn't boot at all.
I'm going to try to pull the battery and press power to see if that might not help some way.

Nothing good happens at work...your mac got jealous of what it could never be.
But unfortunately, you're bricked. When you go see Sprint, don't tell 'em you were rooted..blah blah...say that your installed the latest OTA and its suddenly not responding.

Right. Yea hopefully my boss will let me out for my lunch in about 45 minutes and then I'm going to head to the sprint store and see if I can get a phone headed this way asap. Thanks for all your help!
Random Question: Do you think they'll let me keep the mSD card if I tell them that I have a bunch of private information on it that I wouldn't want getting into the wrong hands? And secondly, if anyone has gotten refurbed units--do they send them with SD's equipped, or will I get to keep my old one?

Yup, you're definitely bricked. That green arrow meant it was writing the radio image, and a battery pull during htat process almost gaurantees a brick. That sucks man. Before you go to Sprint, I would highly suggest you clear your sd card, either completely, or just ensure that there are no ROMS, flashable zips, or anything that will give the Sprint tech a clue that you've been rooted and flashing stuff. I've read where a phone was bricked and wouldnt turn on, so the Sprint guy wouldn't have known he was rooted, but he looked at the SD card, and saw ROMS, kernels, and other things that indicated the guy was rooted before. The tech was a jerk and wouldn't work on the phone and red flagged the account. Guy with broken phone = screwed. So yea, either remove your card before you, clear your card before you go, or remove all root/flash related zips and files from your card. Good luck man.

Well if they are able to swap it right there, they should let you keep your sdcard, and they can keep the other one. And they would have to give you the phone as a "complete" unit, so it should come with an sdcard, and if so, you can keep it as an extra.
Also, just in case, take the sdcard out now and copy it to the mac, and remove all you "rooting" files, roms, kernels, ect and place back on the sdcard; in case they don't let you keep it...but they should.

Yea I pretty much deleted everything. Never know which files might look not good to have on there. My store isn't a full blown Sprint Store--I don't think they have any real smart tech people, but it never hurts to be safe. I'm still going to ask for the card regardless.
Thanks for your help everyone--I can't click thanks anymore today--apparently I'm limited to 5 per day!

Update
Update:
So I received an express ordered replacement on Friday. I'm was super excited until I saw the screen. There is a thumbnail sized bright spot. I'm assuming that the phone I got was a refurb, but this makes slightly angry. Now I have to go to a repair center and probably get a screen swapped out or get a new phone ordered in. Worst part about it: it's a 45 minute drive to nearest repair shop. NO wait, I lied, the actual worst part about it is the fact that I can't root until I can get it fixed
Random question: I had been away from XDA scene for awhile. It looks like CM7 is looking pretty snazzy now with 4G functionality. Is there any downside at all anymore? Before it was because there was no 4g and no HDMI. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Take your sdcard out and then tell them you just downloaded the latest ota and I have had one refurb with card and one without either way KEEP Your sdcard

How can I get my Nitro back to stock

I recently let a guy borrow my phone while we were fishing a bass tournament and he dropped it in the lake. He gave me his nearly brand new Nitro as a replacement. The problem is that he had rooted his Nitro and didn't back it up before he rooted it. I want to get the phone back to stock like it came out of the box but being the noob that I am, I have no idea how to do that. I am sure I could pay LG to do it for me for a price. I am a disabled vet and my disability checks aren't as big as my active duty checks were so every nickel I have is more than accounted for. Is there anybody out there that can help with the software and directions? I am fairly computer savvy but I have a long way to go as far as my cell phone knowledge goes. Thanks a million for any help you guys can provide!!

If you can wait just a couple more days, there will be a very easy way to install the latest Android version to your phone that will restore it to factory defaults but with the new Android version released by AT&T. It's supposed to officially release on July 31. Once that day comes, you should be able to follow these steps: http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/ATT_Update/index.jsp
Thanks!!
Man, it will be that simple? No more root or anything? I know I must sound like a complete moron but until I learn alot more about roms, etc, I just need my phone to be stock. He said it had clock mod or something like that. I assume all that will be gone as well? As soon as I get an upgrade availability, I am going to use this LG as a guinea pig as I learn about phone customization. I'm sure I'll end up ruining it but maybe I will learn something first. Thank you very much for the response. I can definitely wait a couple more days.

Well have fun lol. that tool does seem pretty easy. I bet it could be used in case anything gets screwed up to... but you never know..
And clockworkmod is a backup type thing where you can flash zips ( like roms, kernels, etc ), or make backups of your phone, and restore them.
But really though if you dont care about a little faster phone and a little more custumization then normal you probally wont need to flash roms and such
but have fun

Yeah, that update method will remove Clockworkmod and you will be unrooted. There actually wasn't a very efficient way to get back to 100% stock until this new update comes out, so it's pretty good timing on your part. ;p
Well, guys, I got my phone updated...I think. Right in the middle of the update, my doorbell rand and my dog took off for the door and pulled my usb cable out of the phone. I got it plugged back in withing a couple of seconds. It seems to be working okay. I wonder if it messed anything up. I tried to re-do the update but the LG Update tool said the phone was updated and wouldn't update again. I guess we will see.
That's not good...

[Q] HELP - child wiped out phone (brick?) and mom needs help...

hi everyone! I am seeking your expertise as I came upon this forum trying to help my son fix his phone. He's only 11 years old- but as we call him at home our "tech guy". He got a brand new HTC One M8 (carrier is ATT) yesterday and 3 hours later - the phone was "bricked" as I have been told. Apparently, (these are his words) he "unlocked the bootloader using HTCdev, then flashed twrp, then flashed supersu.zip.
I have no idea what any of that means but apparently he did something wrong because his phone is not working and we don't know how to fix it. If you have any compassion for a frustrated Mom who's trying not to be angry with her son -- I would appreciate any advice you can give on how to fix this.
I have attached a picture of what the phone looks like when we turn it on. I also posted this under the ATT forum too.
Thanks in advance for your help!
You bought your 11 year old son an M8?
Do you adopt?

Going by the pic, the bootloader has been relocked. So that's a problem. The bootloader will need to be unlocked again. I would suggest heading over to Youtube, as I have found video tutorials the most helpful when I was learning this stuff. There are plenty of videos that are even specific to the M8.
Edit: I should also point out that a phone can almost always be saved/restored if it still powers on. So don't panic. It would probably be in your best interest though to find someone experienced to fix it. Trying to explain the process to fix it here is not going to be helpful to someone who doesn't know what they're doing. If you can't find someone experienced, then my best suggestion, as stated above, would be to watch some Youtube tutorials on unlocking/rooting the M8.
Okay. In all seriousness.
When was this screen grab taken? In other words, is this your current position with the phone?
Relocked... etc etc
Are you in the US on AT&T?
Your tech son needs to restore ATT backup.. Hopefully someone in that forum has it

UPDATE on my son
Thank you all so much for your responses! It is much appreciated. Believe it or not - this kid fixed it all by himself. Basically (remember I am not technical) he unlocked the boot loader then flashed a ROM onto an SD card and was able to load. Don't think I worded correctly - but I think you know what I am talking about -- it's fixed and working fine. WHEW!!
I guess he "retraced" the steps he did last night and was able to get it. Actually it's strange the first ROM he put on wasn't allowing him to find or pick up wifi. He found another and got it. This kid is good!
I will certainly keep the info to this forum handy because something tells me that I will be visiting again with this child..................
Have a great evening!!
p.s. I typed the wrong key -- he's 12 not 11 And - sure I'd adopt! But he did save up his own money to get this phone and only wanted it to do these "cool" things as he says to it.....rest of my family - we are simple and use Iphones -- sorry.
All I can say to this is Wow!!

I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you and your son.
It's great to know that you're letting your kid tinker around as he is. I know these are quite expensive devices, but we often do learn from our mistakes, and that is even more true when it comes to technology. I'm sure that I have a bit of a bias being a software developer, but tech is such a huge part of life now, and that is only going to become more so with time. So getting an early start as he is, your son is going to have a leg-up in the world, even if he doesn't choose this type of field as a career path.

Thanks!! He's very into all of this stuff and always has been from a very young age -- started with Legos at 2. He doesn't play sports and this is his "thing". He really LOVES all this stuff. He's actually really good and understands most things. As you can see - we certainly have issues now and then but overall we certainly let him "tinker". I really should write stuff down so we can laugh about it in about 10 years. We tried to limit his Internet time a couple of years ago and added a password on his computer that we had to input on his computer to gain access. Little **** put a keystroke logger on the computer to get the password. Then he somehow modified the main password screen to say PENIS when we logged on. The stories go on and on....... We will let him continue his technology building and hopefully he really have a bright future in technology!
Thanks for all of the input and support from this forum!

I was the same from an early age and always have been. I have taken apart or modified more household items than I can think of. I broke a lot of stuff messing as a kid, but now I have a lot of knowledge and can fix almost any thing properly.
It seems you are not so bad yourself with the technical stuff as most moms wouldn't have a clue or even be able to repeat what you have explained here.

need help with this damn phone

I'll just put this simply. I've got a splitting headache and I've been staring at various web pages for hours trying to (unsuccessfully) unlock the bootloader on my g4 so I can install twrp and root the thing. I'm about ready to kill someone. don't know who, nobody is around.
anyway.. I need a guide on how to transform my LG G4 US99120c US Cellular mobile device running Android 6.0 Marshmallow from a battery-draining eyeball-paining bright white piece of techno-trash into a rooted device with custom recovery that I can use on a regular basis without experiencing severe migraines because I can't delete stuff off the SD card due to carriers being pricks about released phones.
yes, I've tried google. Yes, I've tried searching the forums. If I hadn't done that already I wouldn't be posting here. please don't waste my time with "try the search feature".. I'm here because this is my last viable option for getting the damn thing working right. Please don't just link me to some random instruction manual either. I have bad luck with links.
If anyone does write me with help, write it for an idiot. Normally I'm pretty good at picking things up quickly but I seem to have come down with something the past couple days so I'm also a bit under the weather.. right around the idiot quotient.
I don't want to downgrade, I don't want to install half a dozen things or flash my whatchamacallit (got arrested last time I did that). I want to root the device, and possibly install xposed so I can change everything thats sharp white to a dull black. I do not want to do anything else at all but make calls, text, watch vids, listen to music and play the occasional game.
Thank you very much for your time, and a colossal chunk of gratitude for anyone who wants to take up this task.
FTR: I'm a former samsung user, so if you need to make comparisons I suggest using those. I'll understand 'em.

I'll understand 'em.

ill lay it on wasy for you......... you cant unlock bootloader. you cant install twrp and you cant root MM. not unless bootloader unlocked. wich your phone cant be unlocked..
root only on locked bootloader on LP.
there isnt a way and there will never be one.. to bypass and be able to install twrp..
well that explains why fastboot refuses to acknowledge the existence of the phone. I guess.
never say never tho m8, geohot should be proof enough of that for you. looks like I can't downgrade either.
guess I'll have to stick with my s5.

Tmobile Revvl (& Plus) 2 Development

Look, I know I tried and failed miserably to get something going for the previous first generation Revvl, and I probably let a whole lot of people down... but after my recent successes with the Orbic Wonder and Vortex Synq, I couldn't help but try and take this on because it's too tempting
Like before, I don't have this phone myself (I'm on Verizon now), but if anyone has one and wants to see if we can get something going let me know and we can work together. Even if we can only get root access and maybe a custom recovery, that would still be better than nothing. Since my last attempt at the Revvl line I've learned a few new things and have a couple more tricks up my sleeve. I can't guarantee anything obviously, but if anyone wants to give it a shot we can certainly do so. I'm personally down for Round 2 at this point if any of you out there are
I found a couple at a local pawn shop for cheap. If you think you can get Majisk on them, I'll pick one up!

Depends how cheap, because there's no guarantee I'll be able to get Magisk on them. Not sure how the odds will be. If you're talking like $20 cheap then yeah go for it, even if it fails you can have a backup device to screw around with. Any significant amount of money, don't risk it.
Help
Anyone knows how to solve this
Is this dead?
I realize it's been a hot minute since this thread was active, but I have this device and if there was a way I could get it rooted it would be greatly appreciated
