Russian Text with all ? marks - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi, i been doing alot of research already and cant find anything that helps me.
im looking for a keyboard or a mod that can enable my Unicode for sending sms messages. every time i send it to some one, that person gets everything in ? marks. now if i send it thru different app, they get it right. those who have HTC Tilt 2 probably understands that we have the manila version where we can read the messages and when we click on it a whole history opens. and if i type in russian there it works good. but if i open all messages and click on one of my contacts it will open another app with all history too but if i type in russian it will send only ? marks. id use that first app. but the problem with that is that i cant copy and past in to text box... so if anybody can help me find a russian keyboard with Unicode enabled that be great.

This is a font issue. The ? is there because it is unmapped from within the font itself. You need a font that has all the unicode stuff mapped.

Where can i get that font? and do i need to install that font on my device? or the device i send message to?

I must say that I've flashed my tp2 with different roms but never encountered such problem. People get normal russian text from me. But I use original drivers for keyboard that were extracted from the stock rom by b16b, if I remember the name correctly. I could upload the cab as soon as I am home if you want to give it a try.

I wish I had one. The ones I used to have that worked, seem to no longer work and I can't figure out why.

It is NOT a driver issue. This has NOTHING to do with hardware, and EVERYTHING to do with software.

I’m pretty sure it’s not the hardware issue ether. Eternalsinner if you can send me that ROM I could try it out… maybe that will help. Question is. How come the receiver gets the Russian font when I use the manila version of text messaging, and when I use regular windows version they all get “?” marks. So its gata be settings or software issue.

It isn't that it can't read it, but a font file will have mappings for unicode values. So if the value for я is NOT in the font file, you will get one of three characters. A "?", a box looking character, or a blank space. This is just the way that fonts work unfortunately.

Thanks gehzumteufel. i guess ill be googling for fonts now. if i find something ill let you know.

Newbie HTC S740 Faroese/Icelandic letters

Hello everybody.
My first post here.
I've been trying to find an easy way of typing letters like (á, í, ó, ú, ý and ð) using the qwerty keyboard.
I've found some threads, but what people are saying makes no sense to me. To technical.
So I was wondering, if anyone could help me.
Is it possible to modify the phone to type these letter, without entering the symbols menu. Also I haven't been able to find the letter ð, Ð anywhere on the phone.
Thanks in advance.

Try altering the keymap.
.-ombre-.
WOW, this looks like it is it.
However, in the other thread, it states "just move the file to the windows folder"
Should it replace another file? Is there a sub-folder in the windows folder where it should be?
The thing is, that I have no experience in working with phones in this way.
But thanks so far
hzd
Yes, it will replace the original keymap text file. Not sure if the integrated file browser will let you do that, but copying with ActiveSync or other filebrowsers such as TotalCommander will definately work
.-ombre-.
Ahh... I see... I think
I will try this out.
hzd
OK. I did this, but no change. Do I have to change anything in the regional settings. Language perhaps...
I downloaded the file in the link. Copied it to the phone and used the resco explorer to copy it to the windows folder on my phone. But the keyboard works in the same way still.
Thanks for the help anyway Don't wan't to sound *****y

need help badly on the TF3D dialer [font or backgroun]

Problem: After installing language support whenever you get a new number and want to add it. As soon as you click on the add screen the following screen comes up:
Up to this point every thing is Ok. The problem when you click on the Name to add data [First or Last] the background is white and the font color is white. This makes impossible to read what you wrote
Suggested Solution:
1- Develop a Cab to change font color.
2- Or Change a back ground color.
I really appreciate help in this issue. Kindly help:
If there is any other developed themes or
any one can help on changing the background color or
any one can help on changing font color at this specific location.
Thank you
Guys I need help...no one comments!!! ...

Hello,
First, thank you very much for the response and attention:
Second the issue is with many languages support you can see the following links:
a) with Hebrew :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3776778&postcount=1462
b) with Chinese "they solved the problem; by changing font color"...their solution does not apply to other language
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3787892&postcount=1522
c) Kwbr knew about this issue but due to time shortage said could not fix it, however, he is willing to add it to his Rom if some one found solution [Paragraph 3 on the following link]:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3787819&postcount=1521
d) Many members on various forum with the same issue.
Last, I am using Arabic support with same problem. I am willing to give a copy of any files you request to find a solution.
Sounds to me like a font issue, not a graphic problem. I suspect the font you've installed to get Arabic or Hebrew and right to left write/read has a white background to it, or the file controlling it does. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to fix such a problem. Try messaging the creator of the language support file?

how can i install Chinese (Traditional) fonts??

I am using Dutty's latest ROM (amazing!)
Do I need to install Chinese fonts or whatever to see chinese characters on websites and documents etc.?? I don't need to write/edit it - just being able to read/see what's there will be very helpful.
Thanks!!

I've changed the Rom from the French version to the Portuguese, but now the fixed keyboard QWERTY is totality mixed up, when I press the "a" it appears the "q", and others, because the original rom was in french and the keyboard for them is different. So, what can I do now, is it possible to change the letters in the keyboard opening the phone or what? Help please...

At this time there is not, but there is a way to get it working properly:
There is an easy way to fix it. You can do exactly as I did. Reflash the stock rom. Open a registry editor and export this folder
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
Then flash the rom you want and import that folder and you will be good.
Check this out
Hi. This works with me. I hope it does the same thing with you!

I did find the thread but no Finnish ROM 1.19.414.1 only a sms hotfix...
Unfortunately, you can't then.
how do i get a finnish rom then?
I am sure it exists, but I don't know where. I wish I could be of more help.
do i need to get a finnish friend to dum 1 for me? am i in a wrong track? dunno for sure what dumping a rom means..
I am sure you can dump a rom, but quite honestly, that is outside of the realm of anything I know or have done. I am sure if you post a new thread about dumping the rom, they can help you.

Keyboard Layout

Hello. I've seen some threads about this, but none has helped me. So, I've a TP2 that came with a French ROM and now I've flashed it with a Portuguese one and it's working just fine. The problem is that the QWERTY keyboard is totaly mixed up, because the layout as been changed.
Assuming that it is not possible to change the hardware (if it is please tell me how!!!!!!), how can I modify the layout back to the original one???
Hope someone can help me and feel free to use this thread for the same kind of questions!

So, changing the hardware keyboard is not possible, or is it?
By the way, if someone could get the folder for me, someone that has the French version, i wouldn't have to reflash the stock rom would I?
Is it is possible i would try to find someone that could get it for me...

I just don't see why you would go through the hassle. It takes 30 minutes to flash the stock, get the stuff, and flash back. It will take much more time to find manuals, wait for parts, etc to swap the hardware keyboard.
Yes, if you had someone else that can export that part of the registry, you would be good.

Quite true... I only thought about it because I'm so used with the QWERTY. But probably it's better just change the layout. Thank you for your help!!!
No problem!
I made the changes needed and it worked, by changing:
- HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
CurLang = 1036
- HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
Active = 0000040c
But there is still something wrong, like when I press:
FN + A... it should appears the "à" but it doesn't
FN + Z... should be "è"
FN + R... should be "é"
FN + S... should be "ê"
FN + D... should be "ô"
FN + F... should be "ù"
I think this are the only ones that doesn't work right... does anybody knows how to fix it?
