How to have USB Debugging enabled without the icon? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I apologize if this is a dumb question. I thought I read some where that with root access there's a way to have USB debugging enabled, without the ugly icon in the notification bar. I've googled and searched the forums and I can't find it.
Is this possible?

It is a security risk to leave it on. Thats why the icon is there to make sure you disable the debugging.
Remember when usb debugging is on you can easily send ADB commands to your phone.

Thank you. I guess I'll just have to switch it on when I need to do adb and back off again. I really didn't want it in my screen captures that I do with ddms.

use the app shootme for screen captures... works great just have to shake or yell at the phone

Cool. Thank you.

PS.
Cyanogenmod rom has a option to turn off the icon.

you could always modify your framework and delete the icon altogether.

Thanks tribbey this work on mines also appreciated a lot.
Does anyone know why this app was removed from the market?
What does it require full internet access for? Paypal donation? I'm a bit chary while installing apps from unknown sources so would appreciate any reassurance
After trying this app I uninstalled it because
1) it keeps requesting su permissions every few seconds and I don't like idea of disabling the notifications in the Superuser app
2) my motivation for turning off buttons back lights was battery saving, but I'm not sure if I will save anything if this app keeps running in the background
^^ MikGinger 3.0 has this function built into the "tweaks", works great.

Disable Touch Key Backlight on Google Edition

I hope someone can help me out with this (I guess most of my posts arent worth bothering with as they usually go untouched by anyone). I'm trying to figure out a way to disable the touch button backlight on a Google Edition ROM. I have been searching for an answer since the Google Edition hit. All I can ever find is how to disable on GSIII ROMs (non ge). If anyone can please help me out I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Screen Filter is an app that can disable the backlight of the softkeys. Set it to auto-start at boot and you should be good. I know its not a direct fix but its a low impact app that shouldnt effect battery life or operation.

Seems to work for me. Did it dim the screen at all (thats its main function)? Did you see the check box "enable softkey back light" (uncheck it) at the bottom of the app ui?

Yes, it did dim the screen, but if i uncheck the enable softkey back light, anytime I touch the screen the backlights still come on. Are you on a G.E. rom? I am currently on Infamouse G.E.

No im not. I am on AOSP (Slim Bean) though.
There are options to do this in AOKP and CM roms. Anybody know how those builds pull it off?
Give me a minute to shower and I'll write you an app. All you have to do is install my app, reboot, grant it root access, and profit.

Thanks brother. Any luck getting that working? With all of the research I have been doing, I have found MANY people that want to get this option working.

Okay i am having troubles setting it to off on boot. But here is a "toggle" version of it where you can toggle them on or off. Will try and fix the boot issue tomorrow.
SWEEET!!! Works like a charm thanks dude! Like I said, I've been searching for this forever! I know that many others have been searching for this, perhaps you should make a thread in the mods section.

The currently selected app has a blue outline when using it in multi-window. It's kinda distracting tough. Anyway to turn it off?

You'd probably need to decompile the (multi-window) app and make changes there.
Nope. Pretty sure it's there to let people know the resizing function exists.
And what window you are currently interacting

disable sd card notification in notification pull down

Keeps giving me the option to unmount with the icon in the toolbar after a reboot. Whats the best way to do this. I am rooted with xposed installed. Didnt want to install something that might screw something else up though. I tried to search but maybe i didnt describe it right.
The xposed module called notify clean helps.

Yup, the best thing is that it can hide specific notifications, not blanket block all from an app.

Remove Battery Icon

Wondering if anyone knows how to remove the battery icon? I'd like to just have the percentage show up. Thanks in advance for any advice on this!
Try Good Lock from the Samsung App Store. It includes lots of status bar tweaks.

Thanks. I tried that just now, but it hides the icon and the percentage.

I use it to just show battery percentage. Make sure you have percentage turned on in settings

I have it set to show the percentage but it isn't there. When I toggle the battery icon in Good Lock, they both disappear.
Just use Systemui Tuner.

I got it to work, I guess I needed to toggle battery percentage off then on. Working perfectly now. Thanks for the suggestion on this!
i just downloaded this app but i don't see the options to do what you guys have done. can you give more explicit instructions? I see a list of apps you can install from the app store (lock star, quick star, multi star, etc...)

Launch Quick-panel star---> visibility of indicator icons--->toggle battery icon. Haha, hopefully you got it.
The app is called Good Lock. The PapaWangsta's instructions should get you taken care of once you download it.

thanks for the intel on this app. but where in settings does one turn on the percentage? im on an unlocked note plus if that matters...
I'm on a note 8 until later today. The attached print screen shows where it's at on the note 8. You should be able to search "hide battery percentage" to find it.
Wow, what an idiot I am ! damn I’m sorry to have wasted internet bandwidth on such a daft question. I cant believe how I missed that in settings.....

I doggedly go through settings to find buried stuff like this. Goodlock apps are superb; even got rid of that nasty AT&T logo.
Just black across the top of my stock Note 10 homescreen like I want it.
