Daily Briefing apk - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Since it's been rooted, I was really hoping to see the daily briefing apk already floating around out here.
Anyone with the device in hand feeling like tackling this project?
I did a search and saw nothing on this, so if I missed something, feel free to flame
Thanks
Xa

I believe this is the apk for the daily briefing.. Took some time to find it.
http://www.mediafire.com/?mk0yhtm4jdi

THANKS!
Unfortunately, it wont install on the Slide. Guess it was too good to be true LOL.
XA

You're not missing much since there isn't much to configure, and only has a very limited number of locations for the weather.

wo...
very very Thank for daily briefing app.
Thanks...

Google RSS Reader Application: Developers Wanted

Anyone interested in helping out?
*EDIT*
This application is complete, and has been branded G:RSS. The new thread can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700948
The release: http://nowsci.com/techviews/20100612/grss-a-google-reader-rss-app-for-windows-phone-7-wp7/
Unfortunatly I´m unable to help, but please continue with your work, it looks very very nice!
Sounds interesting. How far have you got, and whats still to do?
From the looks of the screenshot, it seems you've allready got most stuff working. Just need some design tweaks
I've got the structure laid out and am working through the Google API now. My biggest issue is I'm new to Silverlight/C#, and while it is 99% straightfoward, I'm having a problem figuring out how to get the HTTP Request working properly. I've got a thread started on the Windows Phone 7 forum here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo.../thread/8e918a12-135a-45b3-9764-0a24f631f4b3/
And yea, the UI is my first pass, it's what I'm working towards until I get it functioning fully in the emulator, then I'll revise.
Nice, but I think what is really needed is a view like you get on reader.google.com, where you can click through your news items in its full form.

I'll be building in swipe gestures, right for next article, left for previous. I think this is the best way to display an article and navigate. I was debating on placing the headline for the next article below, so you could tap on it, but longer articles would force scrolling. If anyone has any suggestions for how navigation could work otherwise, I haven't built that piece of the puzzle yet, so I'm open.

Nice screens. If you are stuck and need help I am a WP7Dev and have some time to do XAML and other stuff. PM me if you are still looking for help.
I also built a GReader WP7 app, screens are not as well designed as yours! Good job.
I'm actually finishing it up now. It's fully functional with almost all of the features of the desktop reader including on-phone caching. It's also looking much better than my concepts including theme options. I'll post a video when its complete, to see if there are any other things people want.
Great! Can´t wait for the video!
Why a Google RSS reader?
Syncing with Google Reader, so you see the same read / unread items on your mobile and on your Desktop. I like it.

Hope you get some help from here. Gunnar is a friend of mine.
So I actually just completed it on my own. Was a great way to get into WP7 development. I've since named the application, and have a video of it posted. The new thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700948

[REQUEST] Glowing 4 bottom buttons on SMS/other

Hey all, Ive been thinking about what i miss about my pre, and besides the obvious wireless charging (one can dream, right) touchstone, the one other thing i miss the most is the glowing of the trackball device at the bottom of the phone for a notification.
Now i know there are many people who have WIMAX Notifier and will say to use that, but i really dont like it as much as a more behind the scenes and clean look, and W.N. keeps crashing and is really buggy.
My app idea would incorporate the 4 buttons at the bottom using different patterns for different notifications.
Ex:
Text: Glow all 4 slow
Email: Run from right to left back to right and repeat. (8 secs for one rotation)
Missed call: Glow only home
etc.
I searched and was not able to find anyone in the developing stages of an app for this. I would be more than happy to assist with the coding, but i have no programs or anything downloaded so far, and dont really have any idea what im doing, though i do know C, Java, & C++ a bit and can learn coding quickly.
Any idea on if this could be made to work, im pretty sure there has to be a way the light sensor sends a signal to the mocrocontroller to light the keys, but can it be done independently, outside of that code section? Any words of where to start with development of this app?
Thanks for the advice, please keep it relavent and to the point, i would REALLY like to make this a reality. Also please link me to any current development on this if you can find any.\
PS. I have an evo 4g, but i assume this would be a global android app.
PPS. Dont let my 2 post count dissuade you from the ferver i have to make this app a reality. I dont post a ton, but i am very serious about creating/developing this app with some help.

Right, which are not clean at all. I want a more subtle item that is similar to the pre functionality.
Thanks for the clarification, ive been looking forever and couldnt find what i was looking for.
I think that is a great idea and would look cool as hell. Try making a quick flash demo to illustrate your idea. I'm with you and can definately visualize it but, maybe others can't. Don't give up, it's a great idea.

I think it's a FANTASTIC idea having the 4 bottom capacitive buttons blinking/flashing/glowing for notifications. I would definitely pay for this.
The number one thing I miss about my Nexus One (which I sold back in May) is the trackball notifications where it would glow different colors. Getting the 4 bottom buttons to glow/flash would suffice for me. $10 bounty pledged by me!
This would be such an awesome app...
Alright guys it sounds like there is an interest in making this happen. I will start to look into what it will take for the process to begin.
Stage 1: Getting a coding program installed and getting the HTC Sense open source code to start looking into the light sensor callout for hints of making the bottom LED's come on.
I am committed to this one guys! Sounds like there is a definate want for it thus far.
Good luck man...with all the devs have done with this device, I dont see why this wouldnt be possible.
Btw.... shouldnt this thread be in Apps/Themes section?
sent from EVO with XDA app.
This sounds great!
Alright guys, small update, got the software downloaded and the code/sdk for android 2.2. Wasnt motivated enough to put on my nerd hat and get into the code and start searching out the specific lines im looking for. The good news is I have a flow chart laid out for the notification in each scenario.
Gotta figure out how to ensure the program boots on startup and continues working until force closed.
I will be starting with Froyo, and will move it back to 2.1 eventually. My primary focus will be 2.2 on the Evo.
Welp guys i spent 10+ hours this weekend just to figure out that those LED's are only allowed control when the screen is on. This app is not possible without a significantly more experienced developer, who could make the screen control independent of the LED's. Given my little experience this has become too difficult for me to handle. I will sell my idea for free though!
Thanks for trying, would def be awesome if someone could come up with this. My old samsung instinct use to light up the bottom when it had messages, being that it was a samsung as well, I would *think* (i'm not developer) that there are def ppl with the skills to figure this out .... eventually =) thanks for trying....

htc clock widget

ok so im trying to figure out how to edit the htc clock widget to open a different clock like desk clock. can this be done?
def's uncommon rom is the only one that i know of that does it. good luck getting him to tell you how. def is one of my favorite dev, i'm not calling him out. all the dev keep there findings to them selves really.
question... how come people don't share there tweeks and hacks anymore?
i remember full threads on reg edits, tweeks, and hacks, that people would share with the world. I actually had threads where i would take requests, and cab them up for people to be able to install easily.
big difference between the WM day to the current droid days.
cody
^be very nice if this were the case. As fully customisable, unique rom, suited to your needs.
Sent from my Droid Incredible using XDA App
i sent a pm to the owner of the rom and i am awaiting a reply back. im not trying to take credit for something i just dont want to have to run beautiful widgets when i spent all the time on making custom flip clocks.

That is a very ****-headed thing to say. I am MORE than willing to help anyone out with reproducing ANY of my mods. I keep nothing secret, and I literally JUST replied to the OP's PM, just before reading your completely asinine comment. My PM box is FULL of questions AND answers with guidance on duplicating mods. Truth be told, I do not POST these modifications and how-to in their own threads for one reason only. I do not have the time to support them.
ok so i can find where the activity is and change it but when i push to the phone nothing changes...

Def, I was not trying to be a **** head and don't see that my post directed anything negative towards you. I was iust stating that a few years ago, members in the Windows mobile forums shared everything. Infact, there were http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/windows-mobile-hacks-tweaks/ forums just for regedits and hacks. I don't find that on the 2010 Android forums.
I didnt mention the guy who posted a zip file that was able to put the 6 bar signal meter in the task bar. He clearly stated that he pulled it out of your Rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8758884&postcount=22 Then your reply saying something about you not liking what he did. To me that said the Android developers didn't want the secret out of the bag. It's not just you. I have ran quite a few roms and really liked certain parts, but didn't keep it for the fact that I didn't like other parts. I have searched for ways to get just the good hacks and tweeks, but there just not there.
For the record..... I am sorry Def. I was not saying that your bad for not posting everything you do. I was just trying to say that there's a good chance he will not get the information he seeks. That's just the way Android forums are going these days.
here is a couple thing i would like to add to my roms, but cant find information on them. correct me if i'm wrong, but people just dont share this stuff.
1. 6 bar signal
2. htc clock widget launching vanilla clock
3. app drawer 5 icons wide,
4. battery percentage in battery icon
yes, def's roms have all of these. that is why i run his rom. at least until he bans me from his roms due to this thread.

Well I would like to say he got me started and I found where the attribute is for opening world clock and I have changed it to deskclock but I think I'm doing something wrong with the apk tool because when I push it to the phone and launch it still opens world clock but in the files its self it says deskclock. I wish I knew more about the Android language but sadly I don't and I'm going to keep trying.

i am am really glad to see people like def who is trying to help others instead of just posting there roms.
I am 38 years old, married with 4 kids. i have been on the forums for a long time and know what and how they work. i was not trying to start anything, i love helping people and learning. that is why i like the forums.
i have made 2 apps for windows mobile and never thought of charging for them. one of the apps had over 20,000 downloads. my favorite thing to do was help people learn to make there own.
back on topic....
i would really like to have a zip to flash this htc clock mod. it is one of my favorite parts of def's uncommon rom. i dont have the time anymore to learn a lot of coding. at least i don't think so. kind of new to android so i dont know if it's easy or not. flashing zip files is easy. lol.

[Q] Espire Launcher Tweak/Theme

I am currently using Espier launcher which is great but the only problem i have with it is that some icons just are plain ugly. I tried my hardest, sat down and for the last two days I have been trying to follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449283
I just couldn't do it right I don't know what I was doing wrong but something didn't work. It might help too if the above guides screenshots worked instead of saying 404. I was hoping maybe someone with a little more knowledge of .xml editing could either tell me what I am doing wrong or do it for me.
If anyone wanted to do it the launcher.apk can be found here:
http://espier.org/download/EspierLauncher.apk
And the icons that I am trying to add can be found here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?a2z4zqqcllhmzcr
I wanted to be able to have:
~Music icon for Google Play Music
~Video icon for Google Play Movies
~iBooks icon for Google Play Books
~Calendar icon for stock AOKP Calendar
~Weather icon for Google News and Weather application
~Photo icon for Stock AOKP Gallery
~iFile icon for File Expert
~Safari icon for Espire Browser
~All the other icons are self explanatory (i.e. Youtube = Youtube, Twitter = Twitter, Facebook = Facebook)
Thank You so much in advance to anyone that would be able to help me with this!
Give me a week or two and I will try it. I should be able to do it, but time is always getting in the way, sorry bro.

No problem!!! I just try my best to help out the community. Unfortunately ai don't have an Epic anymore, I have another android phone but I will post the themed apk before I test it or maybe I will get the chance to who knows.
If you want me to theme any other apps let me know and I'll get to it!
I know this sounds stupid but, I don't have enough time on my hands where I can do this and make sure it works. The free time I have I am probably whittling or just adventuring outside or doing something I enjoy doing. I hope you understand,
But what sounds stupid is that I am willing to make a video on how to do it, if that's okay with you. If it is I will get off my lap top and go on my desktop, open up camtasia, record it, upload it to youtube, and put a link here.
You can post a thread saying that this is a general tutorial on themeing apps and you can use my video just so we don't have more posts like this, and maybe it'll be a sticky.
My apologies again! And yes I am saying sorry because I shouldn't have accepted a duty I am not able to fulfill. I know it looks weird having me typed all this, but its a lot easier than going through the folders and changing them.
I am not abstaining from doing it, I enjoy working on shtuffs for these phones and all, but I just have other things to do and other things I enjoy more.
I hope you understand where I am coming from. Video will be made by the weekend hopefully.
Although my hands are full ill pick this up just for the sake of helping. Idk what I can cook up but I'll let you know

[TOOLBAR] T-Mobile Galaxy S3 Toolbar for your PC browser

This is a toolbar for your PC browser. Compatible with Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Safari. There was a toolbar similar on another phone's forum. I deemed it was a good idea to make one of our own. It is complete. Download, use, enjoy. And it's free!
http://TMobileGalaxyS3.OurToolbar.com/
As there are upgrades, I'll add links with dates here.
9-29-12 OK guys and ladies, through me being curious about features on my browser, I figured out how to do what I wanted to do to this toolbar. However, my family is visiting for the night, I promise, I will get this thing up to par tomorrow. Thank you for your patience. Much love and respect.
9-30-12 Got the toolbar finished. I am satisfied with it. Much better than my first. Let me know what you think of it. Enjoy! And to the people who have already downloaded it, please try the new one!
10-6-12 If you download the toolbar and you think there is too many apps on the far right side and it takes too long to load on your browser, you can always right click on the toolbar and go to toolbar options and hide or disable the stuff you don't want on it. If you download and don't like something about it, let me know. I'd like to keep this thing going. Thank you very much!
Much love to those who have downloaded it!
I might need it one day.
