There is a youtube app built into Coreplayer, but you have to pay for Corepalyer. Also I attched a youtube app to this post, but I haven't tried it so I'm not sure if it works.

NFS Latest ROm and Youtube

Jumped to windows 6.5 with NSF latest rom, all looks great, and works but You Tube app, locks up and I have to turn phone off or reset, to get it to close. I was trying to view Cascada latest video Evacuate th Dancefloor the second pne that shows up on youtube. A friend has the Telus Touch Pro 2 and WOW its like HD! Only problem its on Telus and took 10 minutes to buffer enough to watch. When i went to use the Your Tube app that came with NSF Rom it crashed and locked up I had to go through IE to see it. I then went to m.youtube.com/app and dowloaded the mobile application same as i had with stock 6.1 and it works fine. Question which Youtube application is newer NSF version i can not seem to see a about, but the one I d/l it says version 2.2.15
No Help
So no help can anyone tell me which is newer NFS's latest rom with you tube built in or the one I download from you tube, for my mobile?
Hey.....
The one cooked into NFS's rom is older than the One currently available straight from the youtube site.
The new YouTube app is pretty nice. It doesn't look any better, maybe worse, but I think it is quicker and better quality video.
Just wanted it to work
The one in his rom loaded but crashed when I tried a few videos, and so I d/l the one from you tube and it works fiine.

Youtube

The build in Youtube application in the sgs, is there a way to set the screen resolution to high by default instead of one have to hit the option button everytime watching a new Youtube clip and set it manually.?

You mean HD quality? There is an option in 2.2 but in 2.1 you'll have to use some Youtube HD apk...
There is an option in 2.1?
I have mine set to high quality as default?
Ah I didn't know that. There wasn't an option in JM1 and before so I thought there isn't an option in 2.1 today, too. Sorry. 'Cause a lot of custom roms offer this as a feature for 2.1.
How did you set it to high resolution?

Hello,
on JF3 you had to hit the menu button during you where watching the video, and (that´s what´s i remember) there where an option to watch in HD.
On Froyo it´s on default if you where online in Wifi network.

Download and install this Youtube client if you're on Eclair.
Here is the same with wifi on the Youtube clips are by default played in HD resolution.

Just look for it in the market, it will update the built in one.
does any one have the latest youtube .apk file on the market? v2.0.26
I tried to update but failed on installation..
Hmm... try deleting the original .apk from the system...
Back it up too*
Tried both removing it and trying the market again. and downloading the apk and trying to install it (which also failed)
Also tried to install via adb..
pkg: /data/local/tmp/com.google.android.youtube.v2.0.26.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]
Not sure what to try next...
Edit: got it working....
Removed the original app.. Renamed the apk of the new app to YouTube.apk copied it to /system/app then install from the market over top (mostly so it has the market link for new updates)
I'm on jm6 and it worked perfectly from the market. No issues whatsoever.
There is an option to set all videos as hd from the settings in the app.

[ 2.2 only ): ] YouTube! <Updated with UI overhaul> On Market! [Google Standalone]
http://www.appbrain.com/app/youtube/com.google.android.youtube
above is the appbrain link. alternatively you can search YouTube on the Android Market to update your YouTube!
it's awesome.
watch videos while reading comments! or go fullscreen! always view videos as HQ!* UI overhaul! words cannot describe it. go check it out!
still can't comment in-app though. awesome nonetheless!
edit: *just found out that the update is only for android 2.2 ): Eclair users will still have to manually switch to HQ. sorry ):
how were u able to update?
im still getting installation unsuccessful even after removing the stock youtube.apk JPM...
Can you share the .apk file here please.
Thanks
Edit. All good I just had to reboot after deleting..
Works fine here, downloaded onto my JP6 firmware.
App is great, but the widget is too huge... doesn't match all my other widgets at all If it were smaller it would be great, has transparency and all.
This should be it.
And the best thing is:
Playback during LOCKSCREEN!!!!!!
This should be the first UI change for gingerbread! i hope it is!
Very nice
The new youtube app is wicked the play it plays a small video when in portrait mode i love it.....
Installation was unsuccessful at first when downloaded straight from the market...figured it had something to do with the current youtube app I still had so I uninstalled that and tried again and installation went fine this time.
It looks GREAT! And videos seem to load faster now for me with this app..or maybe I'm just imagining things. Either way, it's a huge step forward. Super polished. Great stuff! Here's to hoping this an indication of how sleek and polished Gingerbread will be.
I get a network error [400]both on wifi and 3g...
Market just let me update from old to new.
No need for any uninstall.
Installed with no problems, running a JPM/JP6 voodo pre 6 concoction
For those who cant get this working......its froyo 2.2 only!....sigh

I don't see any option for HD video. There is "HQ" but it's definitely not giving 800x480 (480p) resolution.
I don't know why they don't enable it, this and some other phones should be perfectly capable of streaming 480p.

The HQ logo must be red colored i think...
it was working in the previous version..
Great improvement. But it would be better if it cames as an automatic update.
By the way the videos are not HD but HQ

Hello Guys
Any pk missing you can find it in slideme, org, Thanks my Friends from Romania
This new app is wayyy better than the older one... Also, do you think that they're finally using the GPU for this app, as everything (including scrolling) is VERY smooth
If Gingerbread is this smooth, I'll be extremely happy.

[Q] Flash player?

Hi, i was wondering if is possible to see webpages with flash content on our defys. I use dolphin hd browser and i read something about flash 10.1 doesnt work on eclair 2.1??
any suggestions? (i dont like skyfire).
thanks in advance.
Yep wait for Froyo 2.2 which should be officially available in a few months or try some Chinese 2.2 leaked ROM if you can't wait (I am going to wait).
Hi,
On defy / eclair 2.1 at the moment is supported :
-Flash lite in the browser and outside
-Flash 10.x support is introduced locally in android Froyo 2.2 and remotely through Skyfire even in android 2.1 in that case
I have installed the flash10 app for android 2.1 which is properly installed but useless because not supported by the browser.
K
Note :
Skyfire has launched v2.0 of its Android browser that brings with it a new “SkyBar” that gives you automatic Flash video streaming. The browser doesn’t actually play Flash natively, it goes through Skyfire’s servers which are then converted to formats that the mobile is happier to stream, such as HTML5.
You can use Skyfire from the Market. It converts Flash to HTML5 which works on 2.1.
EDIT - Sorry I just read Kribou's note. Skyfire works very well.
I used the tutorial on the link below and it seem to work decently:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-flash-10-1-on-android-2-1-eclair-devices/
I can see youtube desktop website clearly and functional in defy's web browser...

YouTube app runs, but no account sync. Don't know if syncing works with the new os update. Haven't tried it. Alternatives are Viral ,although it fcs with some videos. Flipboard is also good.

Google apps are required for account sync.

You need to install Google Account Manager 4.0.3 and any version of Google Services Framework and Google Services. If you are on Fire OS 4.1.1 (Sangria) then one extra permission needs to be granted via ADB. Instructions in this thread:

I second that. Viral Pro is even better than Youtube because you can have a popup player over any other applications. Logging in to Youtube account is also nice.
I can't find Viral Pro in the Amazon Store!!!

Hi I use instatube pro (not hd) it can download for offline viewing.
Snaptube
SnapTube is a great alternative client for YouTube:
Ad free
Video downloader
Direct MP3 downloader
Automatic updates through the app itself
I has been banned from the Google Play Store due to the downloading features.
It is listed on the Amazon AppStore, but I would not trust it: amazon version is 1.3.0 vs 1.9.1 for the latest official one. Maybe the one on Amazon is a fake or unauthorised listing by a third party.
Get it from the official page here:
http://snaptubevideo.com/
Official XDA Discussion.
Use opera browser side load the play store version
Supertube has background playing and a pop out player.
NewPipe! You can find it in the F-droid, awesome free open-source app manager. It is really nice if you use youtube for music, as you can download the mp3 file (or video) with one button and play songs in the background.
For those who keep on FireOS 4, Skytube is a great Open Source option, available on the Amazon Store, its a native app (not a browser linked to mobile youtube like other "apps" on Amazon Store), you can read comments, upload your suscriptions (manually), the only cons, you cannot login, but its fine to light usage.
