http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-more-on-your-android-device-with-rockplayer/

sorry i probally should have made myself more clear , i want to know what the best setting to encode the videos i have to make them work on the kaiser

seriously no one knows at all?

if you are using android, go for rockplayer.
If you are on windows mobile, go for tcpmp or coreplayer.
those will help you get the most you can from your device.
about settings, you have to find out yourself.
I saw a thread regarding encoding using super for blackstone. use search please,or google it.

Apps/Games to present the HD

Hey guys,
I'm searching for some Applications and Gamez to present the features of my HD.
Friends often ask me what I like so much on my HD and why I did't buy an iPhone. I don't know what to answer then... Always showing the Game Teeter is so boring! I testet the iPhone for about a week and wasn't as thrilled as I'm now with my HD.
Searching in the XDA Forum wasn't very successful to me
Greez and thank you for helping me...
a good start would be to take pictures of ur phone, so u can show a little but of the functions and themes.
A nice program is 'Pocketscreen' which can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328627
Thank you for your post!
I rather thought about the case when they are standing next to me and want to see what my HD is able to do... Something spectacular, you know...
Maybe we can compile a catalog of such "viewy applications"!
oh, lol, sorry then, i missunderstood ya
mhhh, so i think u r searching for advantages of the touch hd, aren't u?
well...if u wanna impress ur friends u just have to show them windows mobile...
what's so special about it? try to get tomtom or other apps working on iPhone...
Take a look at this.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Software
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Software_1
too bad games are running slow as hell on the touch hd.........sigh.........
So you are looking for some "mine is bigger than yours" application just to show off?
Sorry, couldnĀ“t resist.....
Just go to opera, copy a random link, open an email, page the link in a message and tell them to try that on their iphone
Coreplayer 1.3.0 and put on any dvd rip movies and make them jealous with envy, as movies are gorgeous on the high resolution screen
If you have highspeed internet on your hd, just show them a youtube vid, again just show them how inadequate the iphone is as a mediaplayer.
MP3-trimmer, cut a song on the fly, save it as a ringtone and then tell them to call you, watch them squirm
I got bejeweled2 on mine, another addictive game.
Virtual pool looks pretty slick.
When they tell you there is this great program which can identify music, just say its shazam and also avaible for winmo, If they don't know then whip it out tell the hd to identify a popular song on the radio or something from another mp3 player.
I also just bought an Touch HD, i used to have the normal Touch for 8 months, was thinking of buying the iphone too, instead after MANY reviews i stayed with HTC and bought me the touch HD.
Things you can show him is the resolution, open opera with a fullsize forum and show how much text you get on your screen.
Multitasking is what an iphone can't do.
Stuff i like on my windows mobile device: MSN, fring/skype (free calling over wifi) i love VNCview for PPC so i can see my desktop PC on my HD, also love the game UNO, also LOVE Funambol ! so i can sync my calendar/notes/contacts,... all to one server and that way to my PC all bidirectional... Funambol is also availeble on iphone but only for syncing contacts because apple wants to make 99 dollar a year on their syncing service... and most of all, i love that i can keep finding settings to adjust my windows mobile device just the way i want it...
what i don't know if this is all possible with a jailbroken iphone... if it is then there isn't any big difference i guess
good luck with the showing off haha

I know these pages full of applications. Which of them are good to, lets say, "show off"...
Thank you all for your suggestions... maybe got some more!?!
!edit: where can i get coreplayer 1.3 from? u know what i mean!?! plz pm
I wouldn't bother with CorePlayer; full-res video doesn't work well enough yet.
Look at the stickied video-encoder thread and create a file for free that plays full-res full-framerate in WMPlayer on the HD. Bear in mind that most people won't understand the difference between this and what the iPhone plays though.
Then read a book at them. I had an iPod Touch and never found any way to read books that wasn't woefully inadequate.
Web pages in landscape, clicking in links without zooming in etc is a great demo.
The Hologram app is pretty cool; do a search around here and you'll find it.
But to be honest all an iPhone owner has to do is show someone Super Monkey Ball, Aqua Forest, Enigmo etc and you've lost. No amount of "But you can't copy-and-paste" is going to bring you back from that one.
just record a video when going in the freeway at 120km/h then show them.
lets see the iphone do that with that quality
Cool! Thank you for all your Replys!
I think this stuff will hunt 'em down...
1. Use Hush SMS and send Ring 0 SMS to an iPhone.
2. Show some real GPS navigation software.
3. Compare list of supported bluetooth profiles on your HD with iPhone.
Use GRemote to control your pc - see here
how about installing ORB on your home pc and you can stream every music and video file to your ppc through wifi, music is even possible over edge.
that way you can have unlimited portable media.
i use it and it works great !

Well, better NOT say this to any iPhone user (hint: Backgrounder http://code.google.com/p/iphone-backgrounder/wiki/Documentation )

Yeah, at the gaming (and, of course, the capacitive screen) department, the iPhone is just unbeatable.

Please do NOT ask for warez. Especially not with CorePlayer. Those folks do deserve being paid for their very hard work.

Video Wallpaper - HTC HD

Is it possible to have a video wallpaper instead of a still picture, does the phone already have this function and am I just missing something or is this an app that someone could create?
Cheers guys
I seem to remember someone posting a video claiming that they had done it on the original Diamond, it turned out that it was either a fake or a very clever guy who didn't want to tell anyone how to do it.
There was months of discussions but no conclusion so I don't think it is possible and even if it was it would require way too much power and memory to run.
If you do find a way to do it smoothly though let me know it would be quite kewl!

im looking to play xvids

Can't find one...but surely someone must know of a media player that'll cope with this, must be one somewhere ...anyone ?
this?
try yxflash ?
Thanks mate,
i'd not heard of that one before.
I gave it a try, its a good start but the frame rate is very low, probably about 10 or 12 fps.
Anyone know if there are any others ?
Cheers
i dont have my desire yet.
but i have done some research.
i have 2prgrams ready to use
1)yxflash (did you tested it ? good /bad ? )
2)and there is an APK i have named aviplayer....
if you PM me i'll upload it somewhere, onlything you have to do is test it en let me know if it works good or bad
Hey Hans,
PM'd you !
I tested yxflash trial this morning. Watched south park, the video froze up every 8-10minutes but sound continued, closing and relaunching seemed to fix that. (Although the trial should have only allowed for 2 minutes play time anyway) It seemed OK, sound was fine, video appeared to stutter slightly in a few scenes.
check your hotmail! let us something know if it works properly
Doesn't support xvid
Thanks anyway (also PM'd you)
really weird if you google it called "aviplayer" it says it can play avi. but hey, you tested it, so you could know.
if someone els has something let us know! i think a lot of people are searching for this
I believe that an avi is like a container that could contain a number of different codecs inside, so although one type of avi might play, another might not
any chance of a pm?
you want to test yx flash and aviplayer ? or what do you mean ?

good news! check the lead in! under that you see this!!!
Update: commenter NigelL pointed out that HTC will push out DivX support in a future update. Thanks!
all our problems solved :d

Jerry Hilldenbrand (gbhill) over @ Android Central has a really great write up for android video conversion. It's not EVO specific, but it ought to give you a good starting point.
http://www.androidcentral.com/android-and-videos-how-get-started
Sorry if this is not what you were looking for.
Yes I have seen that one and have it bookmarked. I don't like choosing the apple Ipod profile though. I know it will work but is it optimized for android? Don't know enough about video files to know.
The iPod would be optimized for the Hero, G1, Magic, etc... with an HVGA (320x480) screen. The EVO has a WVGA (480x800) screen. Meaning lots more pixels for a sharper picture. So... all you need to do is find a handbrake profile for a Nexus One, Incredible, or Motorola Droid/Milestone and you'll be good to go for the EVO.

Good point. Here's a blog post with recommend Handbrake settings for the Nexus One: "...just select the ipod classic preset und change the settings to 800 pixel width, Anamorphic none and the Avg Bitrate to 1500 kbps and the Audio to 2 channel AAC and you are done."
Pics of the settings also shown here: http://www.frankie.bz/blog/tips-and-tricks/convert-video-nexus-one/

funny... i read your username and inverted the letters in your username. I asked about the download because I know this program, if downloaded from the wrong site, can come full of malware. Sorry I bothered you, but I am a believer that if just don't feel like helping, you can save time and energy not replying at all. Thanks a lot mor... I mean, Mrono
I'm getting about 500mb for a 40min 720p video file using those settings, what is everyone else getting?

*wrong thread*
Bumping this. Enough EvOs out there for a good answer.
Handbrake settings
Use iPod settings to start. Use h.264 codec. Set 800x480 with "Keep aspect ratio" checked. Increase quality to 65%. Change bitrate to 1500. Rip away.

It won't let me set the video to 800x480. especially with keep aspect checked.
Tried to download Handbrake, and it wont run on my netbook, needs 1024x620 mines only 1024x600...
everyone that can run it (widjit, you should still be able to run the program...) follow the instructions HERE
the nexus uses the same resolution screen, so if you do what that says, you'll be fine.
and, here's wishing the moderators will clean up and merge the handbrake threads...
Here is yet another link on how to convert with Handbrake. I haven't used it yet, but plan to give it a try soon.

I still cannot get this to work. After its ripped, is there a specific process to putting the video onto the evo? Everytime I do it myself, just dragging it over there, I can find the file but its not playable.

[Q] Missing link(s) to show the general usage

Hi,
Does anyone have some links to video on general usage of the phone? Browsing, zoom, texting etc? All I find on youtube are those unboxing and commercials that just shows how fast it boots
Thanks

Well, I need to decide if I wanna go with HD or the regular one. I got an IPhone now which is boring. The last two stores I visited did NOT have the HD home - so I thought I might check out some videos of the general usage...but there are none
