[REQUEST] A real Startmenu replacement ( WM startmenu is RAM hungry!!!) - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi everyone, I am a cooker ( doing great things, but mainly a noob one compared to some masters out there ) .
Cooking on the Omnia I900 & Acer S200 ( french rom only), these devices have low memory.
For example the acer S200 only has 256mb of ram, but mainly the same hardware than the powerful HD2(except ram....:-( )
Arto ( great cooker of the Acer S200 scene ) has found that removing the start menu completely gains 15mb Ram on our devices ( by fooling the system with empty .cpr grid, icons caches aren't generated.)
This can help people make really light roms!!! The main problem now is the we don't have here a real startmenu alternative, a eye candy one than keep the spirit of our devices... Quickmenu is functionnal but not too beautiful.
After many searches over xda, the only thing I found was Quickmenu and the sense Startmenu replacement ( I modded the kenia1234 startmenu replacement to give it 5 columns, here is the work : 5 columns start sense2.5 menu replacement )
I don't know why developper aren't interested in making a real , fast and beautiful startmenu replacement ( with full fonctionnality, at least control panel wikth .cpl files abilty, and even more folder architecture, fullscreen, lightweight ),
but here is the request or that, If others than me are interested, please reply and tell your needs, to help developpers...
Something like Panoramic Launchpad would be great!

Last week I started creating a startmenu alternative. It's very underdeveloped, and I have no idea when it's finished, but to give you an idea I attached two screenshots.
It still lacks a couple of features (if someone can point me in the right direction, please do so ):
- no control panel items yet
- no icon transparency (I got that working, but it was horribly slow)
- no background (because of the lack of transparency)
- no hook on the hardware windows key (like quickmenu)
- no hook on the software start button (like ameba does on winmo 6.5.x)
- if there's no png file attached to a link, no icon is displayed
But the other basics are working:
- starting programs by clicking (yes I know, very basic )
- flipping pages by swyping your finger (left->right, right->left, up->down, down->up)
- opening folders, and going back up one level with the left soft button (just like the usual start menu)
I actually started this because I'm not a fan of the hexagon grid styled start menu, not because of memory issues. I did take a look at the current memory usage of my start menu, and currently it is 1.41MB. But that will grow with more icons and transparency I guess.
If you're interested I can continue developing this startmenu.

The most important thing to me is ram usage, the lower it is the best it is,
the png file limitation to display an icon should be reconsidered, the ability to display native icon is much more important, or, much easily to program, you can make your app request the "HKLM\Security\StartInfo\Start\myprog.lnk" key to read the icon you should display, if nothing is entered, lets just start the native icon.
This is important to make your startmenu replacement user friendly. nobody likes assigning manually an icon to an app, having the ability to do it is good, but the most important for the users is that your program automaticaly displays the native icon like the start menu does.
To use cpl, you just have to use a ctlpnl.exe command line, like this :
ctpnl.exe mycpl.cpl
if cpl has multiple tab, ctpnl.exe mycpl.cpl,1 ( where the number is the tab you want to be open)
for cpl files, I thinks its the big part of the job :-(

What I meant with:
- if there's no png file attached to a link, no icon is displayed
Click to collapse
My program uses the icons set in HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start, but if it's an older program, there might not be a high resolution icon, and in that case I won't display any icon. That's something I will fix ofcourse.
I'll have a look at the cpl files, and I guess google will help me there as well.
Also looking for a way to show my startmenu instead of the winmo startmenu, but no luck so far. If anybody knows how to catch when the winmo startmenu is activated in c#, please let me know.

Hi guys
Have you ever heard of iPhoneToday http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633618 ? It's so light and configurable

XTask has a good looking, light start menu replacement.
If you leave out the start_icon.png's, then the native icons are used. The 6.5 start menu also slows down boot time dramatically. Just delete all the shortcuts, soft reset, and check the millisecondtoidlethread in hkcu/performance. Boot time may be 20-30 seconds faster.

Hi m8
I also hate the startmenu but this is cose it eats arround 30mb of ram...
There is a way to disable the default startmenu ....
Look this post its working fine on Blackstone NRG roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7911317&postcount=16270
I just dont like the replacement menu or the quickmenu
Your app can be assigned to startmenu button with ameba
If can i help with your project on this just let know

Also keep in mind that many shells (Throttle Launcher, Mobile Shell etc) read the data to load program shortcuts from the start menu, so that the replacement has to take care of that too.

what do you think about wisbar 4? would this be an alternative to quick menu? i was using this prog. a year ago and i was totaly impressed. now i use it again together with the new energy rom from august 28. after the replacement from the start menu i have real nice and fast blackstone

Boring old today screen, fine-tuned for efficiency
Cool idea & nice today screen.
Mine's a totally different approach. I tried all kinds of backgrounds, but found that photo's make the text hard to read, so eventually I came back to the boring old default blue one... I expanded it to the top and bottom of the screen.
Wisbar
Pocketbreeze
Battery bar pro
Weatherpanel (in Pocketbreeze tab)
My Today screen is all about information. I want my appointments, tasks and mail notifications to be clearly readable, with important items highlighted, yet easy on the eyes - no fluorescent stuff for me. Notice the carefully chosen text colors and the everso subtle hint of font shading to make it stand out. 8) (ok I know, I'm so full of it... )
The icon console in the Wisbar top bar is my own design. I tried to make it as compact as possible, to allow for a lot of running program icons next to the start button.
There's four scrollable rows of program shortcuts in the Program bar.
Might experiment with skinning a little more, it's fun.
i like the wisbar plug-in do you know where i can get it for free

Try this, its already optimized for PocketPlus.
I'm bored, so might as well post my new creation as well.

Quickie question, those that have the task bar skinned...what app are you using to skin the notfication button and signal strength? Haven't found anything that works on the XV6600.
I'll post my today screen when I get home:

It's Wisbar Advance 2. Skinning it yourself is not too difficult; I made my taskbar and taskbar icons with Photoshop. But there's plenty of cool skins available, like the ones from Juni.
I've found that with Wisbar Advance 2.0, my resources are very low and it slows down the entire ppc. Anybody else with this problem? I love the various looks I can make, but because of it being so memory intensive, I've opted, for now, to not run it.
I'm with rsbenedict on this one. I've tried wisbar a few times, but it always seems to slow my device to a crawl. Has it improved recently?
WISBAR has been improved, try it for me no slowdowns
Skinners are getting better and better. I personally like this one as it matches my unit casing.
Hey Nomadman, what app are you using to pick up the news story?

[ROM][New video demos]Schap's 5.00 ROMs with TouchXperience UI-Call to beta testers

As some of you know, I am currently working on a touch user interface (since more than 10 months), fully compatible with HTC Diamond, it even takes advantage of G-sensor and touch-sensitive control pad, and I plan to develop a 3D user interface in a future version.
I will prepare soon a private beta, and if there is no major issue I would like to release a first public version in about 2 weeks. But please don’t take too much into consideration this date, be aware that contrary to other ROM cookers who only take programs from other ROMs I have developed the whole user interface from scratch, so it’s a really huge work (more than 1000 hours at the moment) and it’s hard to fix a release date.
As for other devices, Diamond ROMs will be multilingual and available in two versions: Full (with TouchXperience User Interface) and Lite (maximal storage space).
I am looking for some motivated and experienced people to participate to this private beta. I need only about 20 people so I will choose first people who could really help me, better is if you have WM cooking or development knowledges. I don’t want to get thousands of messages asking “please please send me the ROM” like it was in the other threads, so please don’t ask me to participate if you don’t have solid arguments. If you are interested, let me a post here (explaining in what you are good, if I don’t know you) and I will contact you later by PM if you are selected.
More info about TouchXperience User Interface and video demos:
http://www.touchxperience.com/
TouchXperience is the Next Generation User Interface for Windows Mobile, finger friendly and highly customizable, it offers many interesting features: program launcher, contacts manager, home screen, appointments, messaging, task manager, profile and event manager, call log, control panel, communication manager,...
TouchMenu is probably the most powerful and customizable menu, replacing original Start Menu for an innovative touch interface. TouchMenu supports finger scrolling and gestures, for example you can switch from a menu to another by sliding your finger left/right, or display context menu by a long press on the screen. You can also scroll menus using G-sensor. Each menu has four different views (large list, small list, large grid, small grid). As the rest of the future user interface, TouchMenu has a nice Vista/WM7 look.
TouchMenu has various built-in menus :
- All Programs (Start Menu replacement)
- Active Programs (Task Manager)
- Recent programs
- Favorite programs
- Settings (Control Panel)
- Documents
- Favorite websites
- Contacts
- Messaging
- Appointments
- Tasks
- Calls (Call Log)
- Communications (Comm. Manager)
- RSS feeds
- Power Actions
- End Actions
- One Touch Settings
But you can do much more by creating your own custom menus where you can add contacts, program shortcuts, website links, system actions (for example: reset device, rotate screen, sound profile, clock, brightness backlight, WMP status,...) or links to other menus. You can also replace icon for each program/folder/contacts/menu with a custom image.
TouchHome is a fully customizable screen where you can add various widgets and graphical elements (clocks, indicators, today items, texts, images,...). By default, TouchHome displays when you turn your phone on. You can make your own graphics and layout using XML. TouchHome can be also used as screen unlocker (unlock screen by sliding finger, by double tapping, by shaking device, using navigation scroll wheel,...).
Use GPS or cell-based geo-positioning to determine current location and create profiles for each location.
Custom Events is a powerful application which execute predefined actions when custom events occur. The principle is simple, each custom event is defined by:
- A basic event (application changed, location changed, new message, new incoming call, battery charging, device cradled, headset connected, Wi-Fi network detected, internet connection detected, ,...)
- Eventually some conditions (date/time, current application, current location, specific words in message, caller identity,...)
- An action (launch application, display notification, enable flight mode, turn on Wi-Fi, change profile, send message, ,...)
There will be hundreds of events and actions, so possibilities are very large! Here are some examples:
- Enable flight mode during nights
- Connect to Wi-Fi while battery is charging
- Deactivate alarm when I turn my device face down
- Put phone in silent mode at workplace
- Remind me to buy bread when I’m near to the bakery
Supports finger gestures on touch-sensitive control pad (experimental, for HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro only) to execute different system actions, in this way you can have up to 8 “virtual buttons” on your device.
Supports display auto-rotation navigation using G-sensor (experimental, for HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro only).
TouchXperience User Interface is designed for a future usage of hardware accelerated 3D graphics for an outstanding experience!

I can Help
Hello mate,
I have cooked (mostly my own) ROMs for Elf, Niki and Cruise so I have considerable background on the components of the WM OS and the overall structure of the devices (not so much the Diamond to be honest as I'm still trying to get to understand its internals).
If you like, I would more than willing to help out with Beta testing whether it's to focus on a specific area or just overall testing. I also have experience in QA so I can pick out little things that need ironing out
Cheers from Dubai!
WOAH! Schaps, this sounds awesome. I'd be happy to beta test your TouchXperience UI. Coming from an iPhone background, I'd love to see more thumb/finger friendliness in our Diamonds.
EDIT: Checked out the site and the screenshots and it looks fab so far !
Couple of questions, would there be a new finger/thumb friendly Calendar app? (I totally despise the stock WM one) Also, do you plan on integrating a more thumb friendly keyboard for input? The standard Diamond one is okay but I tend to be a fast typer and because the screen on the Diamond is relatively small, it is prone to keystroke errors and the Diamond keyboard does not have any type of correction method (i.e. as included with the PCM Keyboard - I use this but a lack of VGA skins is highly disappointing).
All in all I can't wait to test this - I thought the Diamond would have been more thumb/finger friendly but tend to find myself pulling out the dreaded stylus now and then.. Something I hoped I could have gotten away from. Cheers for the great effort Schaps!
WOW
Love to test the new interface.
Moral Support!!
Schap,
im not a pro in any of these programming. But at least i can sent some moral supports!!
It's a great development All the best to you
Very nice ...I will pleasure, when i test this program...

@ Schaps, could you look into the possibility to add "default mediaplayer chooption" in order to link Bluetooth devices to other players not forcing to use WMP linked with TF3D .
There is a cab out there from RuffRuff (still need to test it) , but including this possible solution in AdvConfig V3 would be a big added value.
As for the Beta testing , it starts to look like recruting for La Legion etrangere (The Foreign Legion)
People want but how many can give ?
Anyway, success with the new UI + Rom combination. Looking forward.

[AppConcept] Task Manager for WM 6.5.3

I'm a wkTask user but lately I've upgraded to WM 6.5.3 and it's no longer an option.
I gave a chance to some other software but didn't find anything fast and usable enough (I have Leo, so no HW button adjustment unfortunately [long press takes too long…]).
Here's my idea for a new task manager:
I really like the manila slide-selector. In my opinion it’s one of the best UI concepts in WM world.
Let's make another slider
I thought of replacing (covering) the Windows button in the bottom left corner with a slide-chooser. First option would have to be the Start menu to maintain the functionality of a single press, but if I want to switch to another opened program I could always slide while pressing the button along the bottom of the screen. Some visual notification would be awesome of course: icons of running programs [windows?] to start with and maybe even some fullscreen preview like in manila.
I think that speed of this program should be the main target – slow task manager is useless. Also it should be configurable so that I could exclude from the list anything I want, maybe optional animations and previews?
Of course the slider would become visible only by touching the Windows icon so that other softkeys remain usable.
What do you think and is this possible to code?
My programming skills are not there yet, but I’m sure someone’s are
Tomus
a good taskmanager must be fast and available in all pages no matter which window you are on. so this idea is not very good.

OCMan new Start menu Replacement(WVGA,VGA) _ Sense _ 5 columns....

Hello everybody, have finished my modification of kenia1234 sense startmenu replacement, using CHTeditor I have seen we can change programpages from 4 to 5 columns, wanted to do the same on kenia startmenu replacement...here is the result...
This is my first try in modding manila files, and I am quite happy to have understand the thing in half a day, hash file name is really a pain to work with...
But now I have what I wanted, a really usable start menu ( not too much long to scroll like list or 4 columns), included in the cab, shortcut to control panels item so you can disable the Windows mobile start menu to same a great 10mb of RAM, this hack to disabling completely the startmenu is from arto, I have attached the startmenu disabler for wm 6.5 and for wm 6.5.x, Install this to gain system memory...
Thanks to members Etoy & Abrasive We now have VGA versions as well !!!
VGA 4 rows
VGA 5 rows
Here is the link for original WVGA Kenia1234 version :
Original Kenia1234 Thread
Really nice!! I m glad to see that my work was useful for you...
thanks for the quote!
Anyway Good job!!
What would be great is the folder ability like the real startmenu, but thats definitely a hard work of coding...
My real goal to achieve, is to replace the recent program list from the bottom, and to replace it with shortcut for "recent program", "All programs","Control Panel".
This way we can have acces to parameters without loosing the ability of recentprogramlist. but I really don't know enought by now on lua script etc to program the whole thing, we have the layout, we need a good dev to make the whole thing, but I think it's a bit difficult to do as it need the script to understand how to lauch cpl files...
my real dream is a lightweight startmenu replacement like "Panoramic Launcher"...
This looks great - I never knew (or noticed) that the Start Menu was so heavyweight on memory. I might give this a go over the weekend. Nice work!
ocman, this is a very nice tweak to get more ram. I tried Panoramic Launcher, but believe it or not, found it to be a bit buggy. Sometimes it launched and sometimes the start menu launched. I want something which I can get used to. I am trying your program and like it very much. The only thing I would change is to give the settings menu items the same icon as before. I think I can research this one as I know you can add icons to shortcuts.
It does seem to save some ram too.
Well done and thanks!!!
How to put back the start menu?
Hi,
is it possible to creat folder in this start menu (i think yeah but need be sure )
Bye bye (et merci!!)
Hmmm, pitty did not work for me.....did not get te square with start icons. Instead icons where similar oriented as current start menu and logo's where gone.
great job.i ve been looking for a start menu disabler and a replacement for a year.
GREAT JOB,piece of ART !
Not work too at wm 6.5.x.
I installed the cab to replace and the cab to remove start menu, but when i soft reset my device the windows flag has disappeared and i get no more startmenu. Neither new or old
yeah in 6.5.x lost but I gained like 30mb wow
I see were this would really help with CHT or any other version thinking about installing it to see how it works on overlay sitting idle right now with NRGz 8-6 I have 96mb free! That is a good hack either way maybe needs to be cooked into roms and have a shortcut to the windows/startmenu for access to startmenu. Either way nice job.
****you lose your settings menu access as well because I was going to map my windows button to the windows/startup/program files*****
hahaha nice appbutyou forgot something theme settings !
dude wonderful app , but you forgot a shortcut to change the theme and the theme wallpaper ! in WM6.5 and 6.5.3 it has a special path ,not like 6.1 ,you might need to tweak it a little bit ! ! ! !
but its a great RAM saver and super practical ! great job
@ocman,
thanks for sharing..!
Works perfect for me...!
Greetings
sv0911
this works with all devices? and which files should I download and install?
Wow this really makes such a big difference, even on my HD2. This seems to have saved me about 20mb on my memory and has sped up my entire phone quite a lot.
The only problem is I'm using arkswitch and that covers up the start menu button and the start menu hardware button doesn't seem to work so at the moment I've got no way of getting to the start menu. Is it possible to make the hardware button work again?
Overall though it's a big improvement and it has definately made a speed difference and personally I think that this looks better than the default start menu anyway.
I hated the start menu layout and always wished for a CHTEditor grid type layout. Can't wait to try it out!
EDIT: Tried it out and love it. On my HD2, pressing the hard Start button seems to confuse it for a few seconds and then nothing. The soft Start button works fine and the app is VERY good in general. Like others have said, it would be perfect for me if the hard button worked or could be mapped, the scrolling speed was increased and folder creation.
Excellent job!
Can you do a 4 column version also?
Plus 1 for folder creation for this menu.
I contacted Cookie once and he said Cookie Manila Start Menu would be on his next release. Seems like you beat him to it
OIY OP FUK YOU.....
but in all seriousness, I offered a bounty both here at XDA and over at PPCG for a CHT or classic WM6.1 StartMenu/Programs for $20...
Keep up the good work, make it (talk to CHT/CHTE) compatible and customizable with CHT/CHTE to be merged into or if you want to keep it alone make it an add-on still for CHT/CHTE (so we can change the columns/row amount/setup)
$20 for the finalized version with customization possibilities (it can do folders?), make that bottom row optional and customizable, Recent Programs or Folders or like Win7 even with the "Pin to StartMenu"
Either way, when done and I can use it reliably $20 is yours (paypal?!)
hi i installed this program and it does saved 10 M ram! thanks a lot!
however i have a few problems. in sense 2.5, the calendar and setting tabs dissappeared.
i also try to map this program to a hardware key, but can't seem to find the shortcut to the app. can you tell me where to find it?
thanks for helping!!!

So I am running the new AT&T ROM with the:
facebook tab added
call history tab added
manila TV Tab added
I added the anastasia icons for the taskbar and the slider (had to mod one file because the slider overlay doesnt look right out of the box)
I played with cookies home tab 1.7.1 but its chewing up 5MB of ram so I am going to look at taking it apart and getting just what I need out of it.
CABS:
.Net framework 3.5 ( will use 3.7 next time from above)
HTC CAB task manager
Slide to shutdown
swype
rhodiumkbdcontrol
QM_TP2_Battery_Update_T-Mobile_USA
All in all VERY close to the cooked ROM I have been using and 80MB free RAM so its quite snappy.
I will post back the info to add the tabs later with a copy of the manila layout file for each one and combos.

Will do. Right now I am looking at cooking in all the apps I mentioned above in to the stock AT&T ROM and making the settings changes I referred to as well as XDA_UC/mortscript.
For the cookie stuff I'm sure it will come down to modifying the script so that it ONLY does what I want with no variables read from the registry. Ideally it will be the "mini" (I think its called) flip clock with weather, notification and calendar.
I played with Just the 4x4 shortcuts fix and my ram useage went up 1.2MB just from that change. Cookie was actually eating up 7 MB I hadn't waited long enough after the reboot to let it settle.

Are you saying that this new ROM has 3 icon columns and not 4 as my current stock ROM does? Why would AT$T do that?
Earlier I promised the manila layout files for the 3 tabs I added. Manila TV, Recent Calls and Facebook.
These instructions are provided as is. I take no credit for "figuring anything out" I am just reposting from my experience here for the benefit of others.

It has a cab file for "Cookers" I can attach what I have but I don't have permission. I unpacked that stuff with WinCE Cab Manager (30 day trial)and added "USA" streams I got out of the thread so I can just copy some files, delete a couple things that get recreated (more on that later) and its running fine.
Recent Calls: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5464566&postcount=2 Scroll to the bottom for DL links, Again I used WinCE Cab manager to extract and all I had to do was copy. I hated the way it looked though so I then extracted file from a cooked ROM that I liked the look of and copied out all the manila files with the same name to my phone and it looks nice now.
Download the above and the appropriate manila layout file below. Turn off Sense, copy the files to your device then delete manilafull.xml in the windows folder and the ENTIRE reg key HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Configuration (The configuration key). Restart manila and the tabs should show up.
Anyway, here are the manila files for the tabs just remove anything int he name past the DASH and the .TXT at the end too! (DISCLAIMER!! ONLY FOR THE NEW AT&T Sense 2.5 ROM I guarnantee NOTHING outside of it):

Are you saying that this new ROM has 3 icon columns and not 4 as my current stock ROM does? Why would AT$T do that?

It is no different than an energy "standard" rom. The home screen is 3 X 3 on the quicklinks.

OK, I'm not talking about the Quicklinks, that's a Sense 2.5 feature. I'm talking about the Start menu arrangement. In an earlier screenshot it showed the icons in 3 icon columns, not 4, which is what I have now.
Also, you said in your previous post to remove everything past the dash in the filenames. What you really mean is everything after the underline. A dash=this -, an underline=this _. Don't want anyone to be confused.

Wow, tired. I just re-read your post. Yes the start button is 4 columns.
I meant the DASH... the word manila is after the underline and needs to be there
Holy CRAP... I have the stock rom stripped of all AT&T parts except 1 and I am running 50% ram utilized in the ROM I just built and it HAS Sense 2.5!
No offense intended to the other chefs out there but how the EFF... can a joe schmoe like me, on my first day cooking a ROM achieve this and the roms out there are running 60% to 70% ?!?! I even cooked in Resco 10 (I own it) and the HTC task manager!
I HAVENT even stripped out the devices and services that I normally would! When I do that I get 48% RAM used or 98MB Free?!
EDIT: Changed type of sense 6.5 to 2.5

You obviously have access to a Sense version no one else has.
Attached the Dutty's task manager that so many recommend (and then didn't point to).
I did the regedit to re-enable tethering on the MEdia net plan I'm grandfathered into:
HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\ForceCellConnection change to "MEdia Net"
--haven't tested thoroughly yet to make sure it stays connected and doesn't change on reboot.
(I installed Total Commander for regedits, you want the ARM version, by the way--anytime you get a choice like that.)
Those have been good improvements, though just putting task manager into the quicklinks and using it to 'end all' once in a while also works fine (as opposed to Dutty's, which gives you back the menu in the upper right to close/switch between things). I also put Contacts into quicklinks and turned off the people tab.
I was new to the quicklinks and it took me forever to figure out how to get rid of icons I didn't want (like facebook), till somebody pointed out the MENU softkey (probably where contacts used to be) at the bottom of the screen. Also lets you remove tabs you don't want (like ATT and Twitter). I also changed the background to get rid of the weather BS (hit animated backgrounds, then album, there was a black diamond plate one in there I used, but you can browse to anything if you switch album to all).
The disable clock flip cab, disable SMS sent notification cab, and then installing .net (then reboot) then installing and running crud scraper were other critical improvements I've made. The 16 quicklinks cab was also nice to have (shrinks the quicklinks to show 4 on home page, 16 if you slide up). These files are all linked in the first page of this thread I believe.
One more tweak I find essential is making it so you can record a voice memo (where I parked, for example) by pressing and holding the PTT button (the otherwise useless to most button under volume rocker on side). You can do this in File Manager or Total commander, go find record.lnk in \Windows (will take a minute to open this location, there's lots in there) and copy it to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tools. Once it's anywhere in the start menu you can assign it to the PTT in the standard 'buttons' control panel. Press and release launches Notes (to play back voicenotes), press and hold records as long as you hold.
Also guys, is there a way to keep this thread as clean as possible so that people just wanting to update from stock to a better stock and then fix a few things don't have to wade through pedantic conversations about Sense versions, etc? Not to be *****y, just trying to keep it as noobie friendly as possible in this one thread.
If we could shrink the clock and add a second line in the calendar on the sense home page this would be perfect. Either way I am still using it.
With stock Sense (Facebook tab added) I can boot it up, lock it, open HTC Messenger, open opera, open calendar, then run cleanRAM and be at 60%. Thank you.

Yeah I am working on that soon. I want the cooke home tab basics withot the bloat too. probably keep in a 4 x 4 shortcut menu too.
I have been spending my time learning about and building my own ROM based off of this with the apps *I* want in it and without AT&T's wasted space stuff. Google maps, shake & save, resco explorer, resco photo manager, swype, ,net 3.5, slide to shutdown, facebook tab, recent calls tab, manila TV tab! .... too long to list, about 15 apps. I have the recent docs tab working and I want to get the erader going correctly and perhaps tackle footprints before finishing adding to manila.
I know you post on NRG's threads as have I. The fact is the guy writes for a LEO, doesnt even own a rhodium device, and while I LOVE his ROM I hate the fact that my phone runs like a turd with it. Having stripped down this ROM of AT&T bloat and done some memopry tweaking out of the box it boots to 92MB free. Configured its in the high 80's. If I scroll through all the sense tabs from there its around 68-72 MB free. It is SMOOTH. It may not be the latest and greatest but it is stable as hell, doesnt freeze and isnt flakey at all, everything works!
I have just been going through fixing the things I have added to clear up some graphics issues because the add ins overwrite some manila or DLL files.
I even have the Anastasia (dinik on NRG ROM) slider and taskbar. However I learned with NO taskbar icons I save nearly 10MB. so I am going to compare to stock icons and see if I can optimize the gfx for size to make it smaller and trim that space used down some more.
I don't know if you read my post on the NRG thread but there is a way to clear out the start menu itsms and their icons/PNG files that make them look nice and I had at one point unconfigured 109MB free!! Yes, more FREE ram than USED! It was outragious to me that it was even possible.
Which version of TotalCommander is the right one for our phones ?
BSB Tweaks is a Must! Need Net CF with it to work..on first page.
Along with google maps and maybe youtube.
I like MSN Instant Messaging, which isn't on the stock Windows Live, but on this one.
