1) How do you root the stock 2.2 Update?
2) Will SetCPU work on it?
2.2 ota is not out yet and you can't root it cause you have to downgrade to an engineering rom to root and then flash a pre rooted rom,I assume devs will release a flashable rom of 2.2 soon after the official release and we will probably have a stable aosp rom before the official release so I'm really no stressin it.

That's very nice of you to do so. I hope you don't have to wait too long. The update with sense UI might be a long time. Maybe early fall...
i would love to ave a foyo based sense rom, i really like sense and i am not really sure why but i doubt it will be here any time soon

it's most likely the last update that is already here 1.35 which is not froyo just pretty much a patch update for a few things.

Free wifi tethering has got to be the number one thing...flashing custom ROM's that do some things you never thought were possible and custom settings that can really save your battery life would be next...that and deleting bloatware that Sprint and HTC preloaded...how did you get Swype???

If you don't mind losing 4G I would flash the Ultimate Droid ROM. It's sick and fast as hell.

I'd be careful posting that your going to send someone swipe on here. Technically it is against XDA rules to post or to send swype links which qualify as warez. And go with myns twopointtwo.hands down the best Rom, check the thread.. numbers don't lie

Short answer - Stock, unrooted, s-on EVO GB cannot be rooted yet.

Yes, the XDA app does have a search feature. When you are on the main forum page, (not in a thread) hit the "More" button near the top right of the screen.

OTA GB isn't rootable yet. If you want GB and a root, you'd need a new ROM. There are ROMs with Sense if you like the stock ROM.
I think that there is a version of the GB stock ROM that is rooted somewhere on XDA.

i am patiently waiting. I miss my old evo rooted. I was actually given a brand new evo that had 2.2 on it and the ota showed up and without thinking i updated. So mad about that.

Hope it's soon because I'm ready I just got my evo 4g yesterday and tried to superoneclick root and z4root and it didn't work.. Never thought to check and see if 2.3 can root. Damn

If anything, the devs are probably getting tired of the obnoxious kids in the Evo forums badgering them. Instead of trying harder, I'd give up if I were in their shoes.

What is the best way to unroot? I have to send my phone back for warranty, I'm 16 so ill have to use my moms credit card and ill never hear the end of it if they charge her cause they know my phone is rooted. I need S-ON stock hboot stock radio(if it matters) and stock ROM, I read the guide on the unlocker.com but there's massive amount of comments saying they had problems or it didn't work. Any suggestions?

As long as its a stock rom it shouldn't matter, maybe try find the closest or exact rom it first came with.
