Contacts Syncing Issue - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I searched for a solution for this and I hope this has not been covered. I bought my wife a 3g slide and she loves it...I think it its pretty cool too...but here is my issue she has only her T-Mobile contacts visible and they are all synced w/ Facebook. But when she uses the messaging app ALL of her Facebook friends that included a number on their info become click-able...very annoying!
Is there a way to tun this off without losing the functionality of having the phone contacts synced...? Said another way her contact app works great b/c the FB contacts are hidden (there is an option to only show certain contacts) ....but when using the messaging app they are ALL visible there is NO option to only show certain contacts.
Any advice would be appreciated...I am a WinMo guy and this is out of my wheel house.

Go into contacts and hit menu...view and it'll give you a list of contact groups to show/hide...

I have already done that...I think you misunderstood my question. The issue is not with the contact app...I have the unwanted contacts hidden there. The problem is when I tap try to compose a new text meassgae...then it displays ALL the Facebook contacts....maybe there is no way to hid them on the messaging app?
Edit: I guess it it is not problem to initiate a new text message from the contact app...but it would be nice if there was a away to hide the FB contacts in the MESSAGING app...

As far as I know the only way to do such a thing would be to disable Facebook contact sync.

Messaging Contacts List In Official Sense 2.5 Rom

I recently upgraded to the new official European wm6.5 sense 2.5 rom. While trying to get my head around the new slow default text messaging app I noticed that when I go to add a recipient, the contact list displays my sim contacts as well as a separate entry for different numbers of the same person. For instance, if I have someone called Alex with both a home number and a mobile number entered, the contact list will display it as two separate contacts. I should also add that I have disabled showing sim contacts using advanced config, and they don't show in the "normal" contact list, just in the messaging one.
As you can imagine, this makes navigating through the contacts much more untidy and time consuming.
Any help will be appreciated
is there no one else with this problem? I was hoping there would be a reg fix or something to sort this out like we've had before

Nope, as I don't use the sim for contacts. I would suggest that you do the same too, no more problemo.

I dont use sim either.. ive disabled it on the normal contact list. But it seems to show up in the messaging contact list as well as home numbers and email addresses and these are not all grouped under a single contact.

In that case, sounds like you need to go into the sim manager and delete the numbers off the sim, if that doesn't work, get your provider to do you a new sim.

linking contacts

Having a small issue with contacts. I can get twitter/FB to sync pics and status updates for everyone of my contacts, but not for myself. I am running CM7 RC1. I know this isnt a big thing, but I dont understand if it can like for every other contact why it wont pull my own info for mine.
It will if you make a contact with your info in it

Well, technically, you aren't a "friend" of yourself on facebook, nor do you follow yourself on twitter, so they have nothing to link to. Just download your profile picture onto your phone and manually attach it to your contact. I don't even have a contact for myself, I don't see the point.
One potential reason for having yourself as a contact is having your own picture show up in SMS conversations.
Ah, I use handcent sms, where you can manually set your own contact picture without actually creating your own contact, I guess that's why I don't have a contact for myself.
Like I said, just download your profile picture to your phone and manually set it as your contact picture? That should work just fine.

[Q] "Call has been lost" dialing Facebook contact

When dialing a Facebook contact from Contacts, Call Log or LPP People Widget, the dial pad appears with that contact's # & picture but the dialing attempt ends & I get a message of "Call has been lost".
I first noticed this after flashing CM7 N96. I've seen it on N98-N101.
From poking around several forums, I'm confident the problem is that Facebook contact phone #s import with +1 at the beginning. If I edit the contact to create a separate contact, without +1, I have no problem getting calls to dial.
I don't want to do that for over 200 contacts.
Does anybody know away to keep FB #s from importing in that format?
Anybody else seen this happen?
I find it strange that I can only find a handful of posts about it anywhere. Nobody has a solution except to change each contact.
Thanks, in advance.

Yes. The best method is to not import Facebook contacts.

I think it's still a bug. Using the plus sign as a callout prefix has been an accepted standard for many years and my cheap $10 feature phone can handle it cleanly. I find that this bug exists in all derivatives of CM 7 based ROMS but doesn't seem to exist in the Froyo based versions.

I noticed a similar issue when I used to run CM 7.2. I didn't have any of my Facebook contacts imported, though. Not sure what the problem was, but I'm on Deck's Reloaded now and haven't had the same issue.

Yahoo popups available?

Is there a way to get yahoo messenger to make popups the way small does?
I currently use the official yahoo messenger for mobile, and when receiving a message, it appears in the notification bar and I have to back out of whatever app I'm using to reply to the message.
I would love for the messages to popup in the way sms messages popup on top of apps, so I can just reply quickly and resume whatever it was I was doing.
I'm open to using an alternate yahoo messenger if it has this feature.
And this isn't available, perhaps it would be a good idea for a developer to make.

i dont use any messenger apps but you say it pops up in your notification bar, why cant you just pull it down and click on it then hit back when your done to resume what you were doing... or am i just missing your point

since you had an evo, i'll assume you have sprint.
do you have sprint number integrated to google voice?
Yes, I do, good observation, and a better one asking about my Voice integration.
I DID have it setup, but I am going to log off of it...thanks again for the help

Just go to voice.google.com and change your settings so they don't get forwarded to your GMail.
i cant find any setting to change for it to stop.
the thing is that its random, not all sms go to gmail inbox just some and not all contacts or not even all sms from same contact. it seems so random
i got one sms from my mother and it went to gmail and than a minute later another sms that went to the default messaging app
anyone knows what to change where and how to do it?
