Single CSC with Multi APN Settings - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

Hi all,
I'm trying to create a single CSC for XWJG1 which it'll auto detect on the inserted SIM card and apply the settings automatically (if its defined in the customer.xml file).
I've got a working copy that runs well on the APAC DXJF4, however, it doesn't work on XWJG1 and throws me the "process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" Force Close when the phone starts.
And i'm now forced to make use of the original method of a single CSC for a single carrier.
Anyone happen to know the cause and/or any remedy?
Any input will be very much appreciated.

Hi, as title. I can get almost everything work except 3g network(hspda).
I tried many version of radio rom. and now stay on newest which is 1.71.09.01.
with others, have extra problems.
is there other way to solve this problem?
I really want enable my 3g internet.. Orz

hi,
I still got the same problem.
I already posted in this thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693820
but there was no solution so far
I tried different android images from donut to eclair. currently I run polymod 2.1g.
with both I got no mobile network while WLAN works fine.
I tried different radio-version - at the moment 1.71.09.01
I also tested 2 different SIM-Cards from two different providers.
1. Reseller from T-Mobile Germany
2. Reseller from Vodafone (also Germany)
I have not flashed my mobile - I run Android from SD

Make sure you have 3G enabled under windows mobile. If it's disabled, android will only use 2g networks.
Edit.
Wait i might have jumped the gun. Are you saying that you cannot use mobile internet at all or just 3G?
Maybe your provider/providers data under Access Point names is incorrect?
Hi. I live in Taiwan. and go with Taiwan Cellur.
I have 3G enabled under WM, and I use the method as "NoMoRootFS Instructions for NAND".
I use [Myn’s Warm Donut RL5] with 1.7.1 NBH
You said APN. when I click APN , nothing shows up.

yes, I cannot use mobile internet at all. it does not show the available speed in the titlebar (H/3G/...) and it does not connect to mobile internet. browser just says it has no connection.
with wifi enabled everything is fine.
but maybe I have jumped the gun in claiming that I got the same problem than the thread owner... but I thought he has no mobile internet at all, too?
@hitakeane
with donut/1.6 I also had no APN-Entries in the menu and even the provider-list was empty. but with 2.1 this is working.
but mobile internet is not working for me with none of the constellations.
- not with donut and manual APN
- not with eclair and predefined APN
- not with eclair and manual APN
what I was thinking about this morning is: my phone had a netlock for D1. but I entered the official unlock-code from my provider (the phone is older than two years). But could it be that there is any lock left crashing the party?

Go to Access point name in settings invoke the settings menu and press add new access point. You should find all the required data on your gsm provider network.

Haven't tried until now. But it's running on my Kaiser now. But mobile internet is not working for me.
I really like to know what this is. Can't be that tricky when it is working for most of the people except for me and few others. Hm...
I asked google many times for the correct apn-setting. But I always end up with the same 2 settings that I have tried both.

I think that in a andboot folder you should have boot log file(or something like that) Look for errors in this file and post them here maybe someone will be able to help you. Also I remember reading somewhere a while ago that it's best to have one of newer winmo roms( 6.5, 6.5.1, 6.5.3, 6.5.5) when running android using haret.
I have seen a HTC Desire from a colleague this morning (also Android 2.1). Right above the submenu "Mobile Networks", where I can configure APNs and so on, he has a checkbox to enable/disable mobile network at all. This checkbox is missing for me. Should it be there?

what I don't understand: what has WinMo to do with Android. Ok, it is installed in NAND, but I thought it is not running either?
hi I had a problem simular to this took me days to figure out a temp fix, if your running haret/win mob rather than nand, if you connect to the internet/3g before you start haret, it sometimes picks up 3g ok.

you think it could be that the problem is gone when I flash Android to nand?
so the only thing preventing me from flashing is the not working mobile internet. if that was working I would make android my every day operating system for the next time.
maybe i'll give flashing a try later if this solves the problem.
the only thing I'm not sure about is if I understood it right how to come back to my shipped rom.
I got the update from 6.0 to 6.1 from T-Mobile (mda-vario.exe), I started that one and copied all the files from Windows-Temp-folder to an other place. In this folder there is a RUU_signed.nbh, is this a full rom I can flash to go back to WM 6.1?
To get me right - I'm not asking how to do this - I just want to know if this file should be a full image that I can use as backup or if this is just an update-file.
I think it is always a full image, right?
(can't find german t-mobile rom in wiki - so I hope I can use this)
hi, I set APN and it works.
though it's quite unstable.
any ideas to improve it? thanks all.
another question.
I remembered I saw at somewhere about low disk space.
I installed some software and ran out of disk, yet I have a 16G micro sd.
how should I do with this? thanks.
I'll keep on searching.

Well I'm just repeating what I've heard. Since you run android using HAret from WINMO then the version of Winmo might have something to do with your problem.
But yeah go ahead and try NAND it might solve the issue.

The rom files you copied may be just an update, however since it was a 6.0 to 6.1 upgrade I expect it'll be a full stock rom, one way to tell would be to place the NBH file on SD card, rename to KAISimg.nbh, enter bootloader, ( power+camera), and look at what it says it will update, a full update will include OS, RADIO, SPL and possibly SPLASH.
You do not need to continue the update, just pull the battery, or press dpad, it will cancel the flash, don't press the power button tho, because then it will flash it
Another rough guide would be file size, a full 6.1 rom is around 100MB or so.
If you choose to go Nand, remember to unlock your SIM pin before flashing, also make certain you have installed HardSPL, just in case
ok, I was hoping for an answer like 'you stupid noob, there are no update-roms, every rom is a full rom'
That would have made it much easier
But your answer was nearly as helpful, thank you zenity.
- filesize is 99MB (seems to be fine)
- it says it will update RADIO_V2, BOOTLOADER, SPLASH1, OS (should be all)
- in wiki the download-link for NL t-mobile-rom goes to the t-mobile-site. So I interpret the NL-rom to be a full one. So german could be a full one, too
To be sure I dumped my own device so I can try to reconstruct this to a nbh-file if the other rom won't work
- HardSPL is already installed (I flashed some radios before)
- SIM pin is already unlocked, too (didn't work with PIN for Haret so I had to unlock)
That's enough backing for me - otherwise I got a good reason to buy a new device
Thanks to all helping me up to this point.
I'll give NAND a try later this day and post some feedback.
ok, flashed it yesterday and mobile network works like a charm.
only thing is, menu item "Mobile Network" is still missing so I can't disable mobile network. but by using a widget for home screen I can en-/disable mobile network (without changing apn)
flashing was really easy - thanks to all doing such a great job in bringing Android to Kaiser.
Also thanks to all helping me in this thread.

[Q] No connection in Android with new build

Android was working perfectly ok with a 3G connection, but the new build isn't connecting. Any help? I didn't see anything in the FAQ.
I uninstalled the CAB from WinMo and deleted excess files off the microsd card.
Any idea on what's going on?

Is the force cdma option enabled in your startup? This only applies if you are on a CDMA carrier, obviously.
Also, don't use MGJDroidUtil... it has been known to screw up the startup.txt, I thought they were updating it tho... Haven't heard anything about it so just stay away from it...
Thanks for the tip regarding not using the launcher. I have noticed that startup.txt getting corrupted.
The force CDMA is enabled in my startup. I am on Sprint.
same....
I have the same problem. Force CDMA is checked. The BLAZN and default releases were my first attempt at this when audio support was added. Both of those tested and worked as expected. So that's two of us so far.
BTW I told myself I'd donate once some great minds got audio working. Is it best to donate on the main page or to any other specific party?

To both of you... you may want to format & start over. lip008, you said "force cdma is checked" - that sounds like you're using MGJDroidUtil, because the startup.txt is a text file... you have to make sure the force cdma command is in the cmdline section.
Oh and for donations, I'd say the general XDAndroid Donation page is sufficient
I'm on GSM (T-Mobile), and I had the same issue (not the BLAZN build, the regular one)
Ok, how about APN settings? sukru, others, have you checked those?
Honestly I haven't had to add the APN manually for several builds, but maybe there's a regression in the new build.
As always, make sure your rootfs, zImage/modules are up to date.
Heres the solution if you are on sprint
Boot into windows mobile and connect to pc so you can access the files in the andboot folder on your sd card. .
or (the purpose of this is so you can edit your STARTUP.TXT using notepad)
You can take out your SD CARD and put it in a card reader and do this too.. as long as you are in windows mobile..
DO NOT DO THIS IN ANDROID..
Once you get access to the SD CARD files.. go into the ANDBOOT folder..
locate STARTUP.TXT and edit it with notepad
locate the long line of commands that starts with "Set cmdline"....
read the entire line and somewhere in the middle you will find a part that says..
force_cdma=0 (remove this part only)
and make sure you have this at the end.... htc_hw.force_cdma=1
NEXT: SAVE YOUR FILE.. AND HERES THE IMPORTANT PART..
***** BOOT WITH HARET.EXE***** NOT WITH THE MGJDroidUtil program...
THIS WORKED FOR ME.. and if any of the mods here want to add to this.. please feel free to clarify..
In lamens terms... On cdma network sprint only
THERE IS A CORRUPT ENTRY IN THE STARTUP.TXT that needs to be removed..
EDIT this entry using notepad while not booted up in android.
the entry needs to be removed mentioned above..
DO NOT USE: MGJDroidUtil to start android.. USE FILE EXPLORER.. AND start
HARET.EXE..
hope this helps..

lancevs, I appreciate then enthusiasm, but I don't think that would have any effect on GSM guys.
However, using MGJDroidUtil can still screw up anybody's startup.txt, regardless of the type of phone/radio... so he is correct in that fact:
DON'T USE MGJDROIDUTIL.EXE!!!!
Edit - didn't even think about it but sukru - do you have this force_cdma statement set to 1? For us CDMA guys it's required, but it probably will break you GSM guys if it is enabled... So check that out.
Yes for clarification

Will check again tonight. Android was getting better each time, then it suddenly went down for me.
Hey guys. I had been running an early August (pre sound) release of Blazn, and everything had been fine. Today I decided to upgrade to get sound and 3D support, and every time I boot into Android it shows no signal, and shows I'm in airplane mode, and it will not let me turn the radio on.
I'm using a Sprint TP2, and I followed the instructions for earlier in the thread, but still no go.
Here's the line from my config file:
Code:
lcd.density=240 msmts_calib=0x9f.0x39a.0x35c.0x78 msmvkeyb_toggle=off pmem.extra=1 gsensor_axis=2,1,3 pm.sleep_mode=2 acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=716800 hw3d.force=1 physkeyboard=rhod400 htc_hw.force_cdma=1
Is there something wrong in it? I am launching Haret directly from TotalCommander File Explorer. Same problem if I use the config/startup utility.
Also, to install the latest version, I deleted the andboot and android folders on my SD card, then installed via cab.
That line looks correct, perhaps you should post your entire startup.txt.
Or just start with a clean build - wipe everything Android related and do a fresh install. The new startup utility is pretty slick, just be sure you check force cdma in the advanced section.
Seems to be random. About 30% of the time it will work, the other 70% of the time "no service" and no way to turn on the radio.

Well, perhaps you shouldn't use the update utility at all. It has been updated so it shouldn't corrupt the startup.txt, but I had issues with it... so personally I prefer to just use haret & modify the startup.txt manually.

Start with a clean build. Don't touch the startup utility, because you said you had previously. It's been known to corrupt the startup.txt, even these new builds I had my startup.txt go to 0 bytes.
hi I am having the same problems cant get android to connect with sprint on the tp2. I am no expert but have become very good at using windows mobile as a user not a developer so all i know is i downloaded a cab file that was haret version 9 28 it came with a little icon labeled android project when i launch it i get to a screen that lets me make some advanced setting and check for updates before and choose my phone model. It says aka sovereinty at the bottom. I have tried to boot without forcing cdma and it does not connect and when i choose force cdma it seems likes its kinda connecting but keeps getting a error message and then i force close and it automatically tries again. If i boot wiithout force cdma the i can connect via wifi but that works but seems to also disconnect after a few minutes, though that is not my concern for now. I tried with the sim and without. and have updated twice so i am know on 10 4. anybody that get help would be appreciated. I love my tp2 with windows mobile but am curuios to play with android being that sprint wont let me unless i change my plan and make me pay double. not interested because my tp2 works great now and has everything i need.
thanks

1) do not overclock
2) do not tamper with the phone immediately after boot, leave it alone for a while (30 secs, 1 min)
3) do not fill the desktop with widgets, they eat lots of resources
If none of these works, while still NOT overclocking, delete data.img file inside andboot folder and start from scratch.
Cheers.
Pretty strange, since I have a Sprint TP2 and Wifi works perfectly.
You might want to start by renaming your data.img to something else to back it up, and then starting up. If after you boot Wifi works, then you know something is messed up in your data.img. Otherwise, you know it's something else and you don't need to wipe out your data.img.
Wifi can also easily get bungled if you update your kernel and don't update your modules file.
The kernel (zImage) and modules (modules-xxxx.tar.gz) go hand-in-hand, and they MUST be updated together.
1. Formatted SD Card with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
2. Deleted exchange inbox folder in SD Card (I have no idea why the formatting does not wipe it clean)
3. copied ProjectAndroid2.2Froyo.112210.cab to root of SD Card
4. Ran cab from explorer
Ran ProjectAndroid from WM
Ran Update

HW3D X
N AM DIAL X

WPA Wifi is on in WM
I renamed the data.img file... still does not work

I hard booted my TP2 to factory settings, used the .rar files instead of the .cab...
getting the same message "Unable to scan for networks".
Yes, I am getting the same error when I try to turn on wifi in settings.
The instructions in xda is a bit misleading for .rar
The steps say
1. Unzip
2. Copy contents of .Rar to the ROOT of your SD card
When you unzip, the content is in folder "XDAndroid2.2Froyo.112210" sub-folder "XDAndroid2.2Froyo.XXxxXX"
The instruction should say, "Copy contents of "XDAndroid2.2Froyo.XXxxXX" to the root of SD card.
Please correct me if I am wrong. In any case, my wifi still does not work.
Have you tried updating manually? Also, you should get an 'andboot' folder if you go into that XXxxXX folder.
I also found a mistake with Reef's build... I asked him to update it. Basically he's not using a signed FRX03 image... I sent him a new bundle, doesn't look like he's updated it yet tho...
What I'd recommend in the meantime is to update this build manually. Download a new system.ext2, new kernel (zImage/modules - they go together!) and rootfs.
You can find all of those updates at http://xdandroid.com/wiki/Main_Page

Downloaded the latest files individually. Updated the build manually by replacing the system.ext2, zImage/modules and rootfs. Modified the startup.txt to force cdma, keyboard to rhod400 and clock speed to 540672... getting the same error "Unable to scan for networks" error.

VOLTE Success, Activation without Firmware Replacement (Sony Mobile withdrawal area)

Hello Xperia users! In the meantime, I finally solved the VOLTE problem! I approached Qualcomm's diagnostic port-active-efsExplorer and solved the problem by inserting a VOLTE profile from my carrier
Sorry, this is Korea and I am Korean.
However, I will write down the method in English.
Unlike previous 1&5, Qualcomm's diagnostic port cannot be opened.

I don't even know. I don't think so.
So it's a little different from before.
I tried to force it open.

Open the Command Proposal window.
adb shell input

Do you want to allow shell on your phone?

Then the $ shape changes to #.
Now
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Copy paste entry. Please enter
And you're gonna be out there during tethering.
In My Computer Item
View Device Manager.
Please turn debugging back on.
Of course, no access.
If you turn on debugging again,
I've already set it up, so it looks like that.
Among them, there is a product model named XQ-AT52.
There are four yellow exclamation points in total.

Now run the EFS Express.
Press 0 on the ROW and OK.

Oh, it takes a long time. I thought it stopped.
It opens if you stay still. LOL
It's open. How nice to see you here!
I am the Korean telecommunication company EFS file extracted from xperia1.
I used it. If you need VOLTE,
XPERIA1 (Modem).Extract from SIN file
I will use the Korean communication file.
Just drag it and put it in a folder.
v check and Yes
There'll be folders that don't exist while you're pulling them in.
Then make it and put the file in.
In the folder where you can view this red file,
Drag and drop the file twice.
The reason is that once you do it, you just go in.
The red file is not updated.
That's how the numbers at the back change when you renew.
So make sure to put it in twice.
Files beginning with NV do not have folders.
Put it on top.
It's over now!

It's hidden in XPERIA1 firmware.
After downloading the firmware via Xperia Pim, change the extension to Modem.img in the Modem.sin file and extract it to the compression program (7z) to view the folder! Surprisingly, the world's telecommunications company VOLTE EFS file is hidden. +_+ Take advantage of it! You can open the VOLTE menu through the magazine module.
Hi, why don't you show by video or pictures. The windowns language is English. ???
Attach the necessary software.
Thanks
I estimate, its only possible by unlocking/rooting the phone?
how to
Even with the great contributors' information, I think there are a few areas where I struggle.
For additional information, I will post my success stories.
I'm posting them in machine translation. Please forgive me if it's hard to read.
STEP 1: Implement the Tools You Need
Please install the following tools.
QPST(QPST_2.7.460)
Qualcomm-hs-usb-diagnostics-9091-952454(DIAG driver)
Flashtool (and XperiaFirm)
newflasher(INSTALL is unnecessary, but please get it.)
*All of the above were available on the internet as of 8/15.
STEP2: Get a "modem" that supports VoLTE.
As a prerequisite (regardless of the DualSim/SinglSim model)
For countries that want to use VoLTE, SONY is offering
  Official firmware is required.
  In my example.
Purchased model: XQ-AT52 (for Hong Kong)
The country where you want to use it: Japan -> SO-51A is available.
(The difference in the number of slots in the SIM doesn't affect it. )
  This is the case.
If the firmware to run VoLTE does not exist in the country where you want to use it
  This method does not work.
The annotations are long, but here are the steps.
Use XperiFirm, provided by SONY in the country where you want to use VoLTE.
   Download the firmware.

STEP3: Use the newflasher to write the firmware from STEP2 to your Xperia 1 ii.
In this case, if you want to burn into a model with a different number of SIM slots
Example: Writing SO-51A firmware to XQ-AT52
→The SIM will not be recognized, but it is temporary.
STEP4: Use EFS Explorer to get the necessary files.
Follow the steps of the great htcmage and have your Xperia 1 ii recognized by EFS Explorer.
  4-1: Install the QPST.
4-2:Install Magisk on your Xperia 1 ii.
Therefore, it is mandatory to unlock the bootloader.
4-3:Execute the commands at the command prompt as follows.
    adb shell
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Magisk's permission is now required to get SuperUser privileges in su.
Note: From the Magisk menu, go to "# SuperUser" and click on
     You can allow.
4-4: The debug mode is disconnected, so you need to re-enable it.
4-5: If you have installed the qualcomm-hs-usb-diagnostics-9091-952454 (DIAG driver), you can use
It is recognized by EFS Explorer.
4-6: On the Phone Selectio screen, Banner selects the ROW port.
STEP 5: Back up the files required for VoLTE activation.
Before following the steps below, you must have the SIM of the line/carrier you want to enable VoLTE on.
    Please plug in.
I have backed up the following folders.
There may be some things you don't need, but at least it works.
   Data_Profiles
efsprofiles
Ims.
nv/item_files/datamodem
nv/item_files/ims
nv/item_files/mcfg
nv/item_files/modem
STEP6: Write the firmware you want to use, and copy the file from STEP5 to
   Override.
Follow steps 3 to 4 of STEP 3 to 4 to get the firmware you want to use.
Write & make EFS Explorer recognize it. (Don't remove the SIM.)
Then, overwrite it with the files backed up in STEP 5.
You should probably now have VoLTE available.
Thanks to the person who walked me through the Magisk installation process, and to the great htcmage.
Also, I pray that others wandering in the same sea of information will be saved.

I used a software called S1 Unlock Tool. You need to buy a credit from this website: https://networkunlocking.com/shop/sony-xperia-cable-unlock-0-counter-supported/. There is also a link to download the software. Along with unlocking your phone it will also grant you access to unlock your bootloader if you wish to do so. I did this and tried to root my phone but I wasn't successful, it just soft bricked my phone and was stuck in a boot loop. I had to use Xperia Companion to restore my phone. Maybe you can't root the Japanese variants, I'm not sure. I saw on here on another forum that you can root the Xperia 1 II.

[Guide] How to change CSC on A71

Disclaimer: This post is an adaptation of the original one in A51 forum. Thanks!
Warning: Do this at your own risk, I am not responsible for any damage that is caused to your device. This method worked for me and should work for everyone.
Credit to yakapa40 on XDA for the apk. This would be impossible without him!
You must make sure the model numbers are the same for the country you want to change to. To check that go to
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/recent/
and type in your device model number. Leave country code blank. The countries that are listed are those that will work on your specific device. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER COUNTRY!
MAKE sure device has above 70% battery just to be safe
OK lets start!
Backup all your data on samsung cloud and google
This process will erase all your data
Download samsung drivers
https://www.hardreset.info/download/samsung-drivers/
Check the CSC code you want from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2546689 credit to Jasi2169
Important later
Download the firmware you want from sammobile (slow download speed) or
https://samfw.com/ for faster download speeds.
It will be a zip file so use winrar to extract and you should get 5 files that start with
AP (System &Recovery)
BL (Bootloader)
CP (Modem / Radio)
CSC\_ (Country / Region / Operator)
HOME\_CSC (Country / Region / Operator)
DELETE the home file.
Next download Odin.
https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.4.zip
Extract the Odin file and run as administrator.
Add each file to its respective field in Odin.
Now we need to put the phone in download mode to do that go to:
https://www.hardreset.info/devices/s...download-mode/
Keep trying until it works.
Next plug the device in and press start. It should take about 3-4 mins for odin to say PASS.
DO NOT UNPLUG THE PHONE AT ANY POINT EVEN AFTER ODIN SAYS PASS.
Let the phone do its thing and dont worry if it takes too long on the Samsung screen.
You should then be greeted with the welcome screen BUT it may not be the correct language so set it to English.
Set the phone up but dont worry about apps we are going to reset the phone again.
Head over to (APK provided by yakapa40).
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hU3...ew?usp=sharing.
on your device or PC and download it. Extract and it should be a apk file. Download it with your device.
Allow unknown sources and it should says done and not open (that is normal).
put you device in flight mode/airplane mode.
hold down the home screen and go to themes.
Galaxy themes.
My stuff.
Select mysterious theme(make sure not to click update).
Select try it out.
Go to Settings.
About phone.
Legal information.
Change Carrier or whatever third option is (the one that says android 10).
Choose and install the CSC you want (that 3 letter code) remove sim and it will restart phone.
again, dont worry if its on the Samsung screen for too long.
You should be back on the welcome screen and you are done!!!
Set up the phone and enjoy!!!
Credit to yakapa40 again on XDA for the apk. This would be impossible without him!
Download link is broken
This app will NOT work on firmware with August 2020 (or later) security patch. .
The App was originally discussed in the S20 thread and stopped working for all Samsung models if August update was installed)
is there any easier way for changing CSC?
this one seems so complicated.
