WP7 on hd2 according to htcpedia! - Windows Phone 7 General

Anyone know about this??
http://www.techparaiso.com/technolo...phone-7-series-finally-working-on-htc-leo-hd2

You may want to double check the dates on the article you linked. Or read a bit more in this forum

Fake. Check the date?
Nobody had hands on a production phone outside Redmond in March, so I can't imagine some random Russian would had a production ready ROM loaded over on a piece of hardware four months before the first developers got hands on a production phone.

HTC Panda/P6300 - Device Specific Forum

Hello All (& Mods)
Do you think we could have a section for the HTC Panda.
I am currently testing this device looking to replace our 300+ Qtek 2020is, so far so good, all applications developed for thr 2020i are working perfectly with the Panda,
our 2 remaining issues are;
1. There are not many accessories available as yet for the device (car cradle etc)
2. I want to connect to a GPS receiver but not via bluetooth as this introduces another "issue" for our end users, we currently use the carcomm cradle and PS2 receiver, this would be ideal if/when they become available.
If someone could create a new section for this device, I'm sure more and more people will find it useful as this model starts to roll out
TIA
Damian
I'll second that request. I just ordered a Panda today.
I'll third that request as I just got one and will be on the way
Battery Life
Hi, Does anyone have any experience of battery life on these 6300
P6300
Hello, I'm new here (PL). Currently I'm searching for a new device for me and Panda seems to have all I need, as far, except HTML e-mail.
Yes, I also think its time to have separate forum for P6300.
I hope to see info about WM6 for Panda soon , then I'm going for shopping.
Regards
Filip
I agree, we started rolling out the Panda (o2 Argon's) in June this year, we shall be rolling out some 2000 devices (giving Police Officers Electronic Notebooks), so a specific forum to discuss this model would make sense.
Absolutely. Let's have a dedicated P6300 forum.
yes, we need a forum section for panda
See this hasn't happened yet - admins/mods can we please have a dedicated forum for the Panda/6300 ?
Hello Everybody,
I'm new here, but followign the foras for a year or so. Will 2008 be the year to initiate Panda dedicated forum? Said it to refresh the issue.
Panda seems to be cool, got it 2 days now.
Cheers,
chemou
i have pushed for this feb 2008 and no responce, how come this has not happened?
We're rolling out approx 30 Pandas this month. Could do with a place to discuss any issue, check on updates etc
BUMP...
Any news on this.
I have been asking this for months in different threads but no response.
any mods want to comment as there are about 5 threads asking this now?
nudge nudge - just bought one of these from the UK to use in OZ, my last employer in the UK is rolling out thousands of these things.
C'mon mods - Give us a Panda/6300 Specific Forum
I just bought a HTC P6300.. Hope a forum is set up to understand more about this..
Panda P6300 specific forum
Please create a Panda specific post.
This is a great machine. I'm surprised there are not more post on this site about the Panda.
I'm very happy but it is abuot time to move from WM5 to 6 6.1
Yes...make a specific forum!....I'll be a happy owner of a panda in a few days and i have just realized that there is not a forum in xda developers and that it's running wm5 :/ and no update is available........

Can you make a mini-forum for Dell Axim users?

I know the XDA-Developers mission statement is "This site is about certain PDA-phones, made by a secretive firm called HTC in Taiwan.", but our non-phone Dell Axim x50's and x51's were also manufactured by HTC (I believe it was codenamed the HTC Colorado). Due to the new wm6 ROMs being built for our units by developers here, and the lack of support by DELL and other sites, many of us are coming here. It would be great to have a place to discuss the cool apps being created by the "XDA developers" that work, or dont work, on non-phone HTC devices and share tips and tweaks to get them working best on our devices.
I would suggest a category under "Other HTC manufactured phones" called "HTC manufactured PDA's" or "HTC manufactured non-phones", then we could list the different devices under their code names (Colorado = Dell Axim x50 series, Galaxy = Qtek/Imate , etc) or group them all together as a start to see how much traffic they get. (That is if you can find it in your heart to include us non-phone HTC device users )
I will second that.
me too.
Those threads only apply to particular HTC-built models, and are of no interest for those who doesnt own an HTC Axim.
Pls lets make a sub forum for Axims and move there those threads. both Axim owners and non owners would benefit.
Updated: check for updates

Actually, like I said in the first post, the Dell Axim v50 and x51 series was manufactured by HTC, and sold by Dell. It may not be an HTC phone, but it is an HTC device.
Look at this old review of the x50v when it came out.
The key part is:
While HP went to a blockier industrial form factor, Dell worked with HTC to come up with a slim, light unit with rounded features similar to the HP iPAQ 4150. ...The X50 is rock solid, and I couldn't get the PDAs to twist or creak. I haven't seen a device this solidly built in quite some time--except for my new MDA III, which I am also reviewing and that was also built by HTC.

Also this Blog entry "Axing el Axim Or Why Dell’s PocketPC had to go "
Lets begin our journey with a visit to the Axim’s source - HTC. The Dell Axim essentially is a design by HTC(which, according to some industry insiders was rejected by HP); Dell just stamps its brand logo onto it and manages the distribution. So, HTC produces and Dell makes the big margins… . This combination stands behind many PocketPC smartphones(with a carrier instead of Dell) for sale in Austria and has worked well so far…

You would be correct in saying it is not an XDA, but it is an HTC. Because the Dell Axim is mostly compatable with the stuff being discussed here (sans the phone stuff), you are probably getting increased traffic from us Dell users. But if it is too 'off topic' to create a common area for us, I guess we will be forced to hang out in the General forum. I can live with that (this is still a great site for advanced users).
Ok, my bad. Although I have to admit that HTC was a vital part of the axim manufacturing I have to say I'm not quite convinced that such forum should be created.
I'll pass this matter to the moderator forum though. Take a deep breath and hold on.
Ok. We have reached the verdict. There simply won't be any dell specific forum on xda-developers. Thanks for your attention.
I just think that there should be a forum for the axim because this site has become and is mostly about HTC manufactured devices and not all of the devices were offered to the public with the HTC branding, we had to purchase them with other companies that applied their logos and software. This site, i admit that it was created for pda-phones but this site has also grown and we should realize that most of the people here all use HTC devices. I do understand why not to add a thread for the Axim but we should add at least a "PPC-only" or "Other HTC Manufactured Devices" thread so that the general forums would be freed up for pda-phone topics.
I my self just bought a Axim but have a better trust in this site then others because this site was the only one that did not flame me when i was a noob (now it does flame noobs but thats because noobs don't read these days) and helped me in giving me information.
I say add a thread for the HTC Axim but if not add one for general pda's but that were manufactured by HTC, because in the future we will have a large community of Axim users and the posts will be mixed with other topics. Lets keep it organized before we get over whelm with trying to organize the forums.
Thanks, Adolfo N.
PS: I know about your verdict about not adding the thread but just wanted to say this and maybe change your mind. Thanks Again.
LOL Oh well, maybe theres an abandoned section (where no recent posts have been made) here we can use and talk there.
Everyone involved with X5#v would just have to mark in their sigs as to where we are now. :/
It might not be an Axim sub forum but atleast we'd have some order to the vast thread piles that are soon to come.
LOL reason being we can't even hold these talks at "Axim"site , sad really...

I wont question "the verdict" as this is their site to moderate as they please. It was worth a shot. (At least they are allowing the Axim threads and not banning them altogether). I still can track my own list of interesting threads by subscribing to them. It just makes it difficult for quickly seeing new threads among the others in the general forum. I suggest posters of Dell specific threads should all place 'DELL AXIM' and the model number in the beginning of the thread topic so they can be found with a simple search.
The sad thing is that HTC makes great PDAs as well as Phones. Its not just that Dell abandoned the Axim line, but the industry (and the forums) are abandoning the PDA-only format altogether. (Even Aximsite has moved more toward the all inclusive MobilitySite by merging them). My request was not just for a DELL specific forum, but for an HTC PDA-only specific area where the Dell Axim would be just a part.
But as vlodeck said, "There simply won't be any Dell specific forum on xda-developers." End of story.

May be the "court of appeal" gives a second thought about it.
Forum thus becaming tidier for the benefit of both owners and non owners of PDA non phone edition.
having more names gives it more exposure so maybe its agood thing
Not about the money, but you are in a room full of wood chucks and politicians dell may have never kicked in to one these countries or its personal cause things change quick and thats for sure in hear. But until you can get a post a day maybe just use the main board i mean i ask for **** and its right place. XDA is what this is and u got to respect that but i guarantee its personal opinion which to me is good for not selling but bad cause sometimes things when you use emotion rather than logic!
I would appreciate that you might get what u need here stay long enough you'll get to an all dell place for sure just don't say anything it very sensitive here. I didn't realize what continent i was on.

New Forums on XDA?

Hey Everyone,
As mentioned in my earlier post (please read if you have not yet already), we are considering adding non-HTC forums to the site, and are curious to hear which ones should be first. We're considering devices such as the Motorola Droid/CLIQ, plus the Samsung Omnia II and/or Acer neoTouch. What are your thoughts? We're listening!
P.S. The below excerpt is taken from my first post, and should help answer some questions.
svetius; said:
Finally-- and hopefully this doesn't cause a mass uproar-- we are considering the idea of selectively adding non-HTC device forums (focused on Windows Mobile and Android devices). Every day we get requests from users for this, and there's really no good reason why we cannot oblige them. Already the discussion is happening in the general forums. That said, we will only add new forums if: 1. We are confident added traffic won't cause site speed to suffer; 2. We can recruit quality moderators; and 3. The content and discussion is of high quality. The only way to know these things for sure is to try it out. So, within the next 14 days we are going to add two or three non-HTC forums. The delay is to ensure the site continues to operate at a reasonable speed and so we can figure out where to put the new forums (the forum homepage is already absurdly long and cluttered). We are open to suggestions as to deserving devices for our first non-HTC forums, so give us your ideas in this thread.

MOD EDIT - The following devices are due to be added Thursday morning (CET time):
Acer neoTouch F1 S200
Acer Liquid A1 S100
Samsung Omnia II
Toshiba TG01
There may be a slight delay in adding these so no more request for the above devices
HP iPAQ HX4700
HP iPAQ HX4700, even though it is a HTC made device, would love to have a forum for it, willing to moderate as i have plenty of spare time
Much Thanks

PS, YES!!! Second Post on both threads
Long overdue!
At last !
This is a very nice forum, resourceful , frequented by the "developers" yet user/noob friendly.
People like me were / are dismayed when requests-questions for non HTC devices are placed in the hacking forum where you just cannot keep track of the threads.
More and more WM/android based devices are launched now and we should have a separate forum for them.
Maybe we can first demand a few requests for a particular device before starting a dedicated forum so that it would not fizzle out in the long run and the whole site becomes cluttered unneccessarily.
From my experience, the most requested one is: Omnia
I think the droid should make the first entry, its really popular. But thats just my opinion.
hell,whose idea was this...??
you are breaking our firs tenant which says "made by a firm called HTC"
we stood for the idea for a long time and prevented such forums to be crated and now comes some "user experience admin" who works for the "unhappy samsung motorola crowd" selling some controversial ideas
come on people,don't be ridiculous...
GREAT,just great....you could also say hello to iPhone and crappy nokias....which we fought for a long time.......great job traitor
Yes, OMNIA II and why not iPhone?
An i780 forum won't be bad too. This is the best site for i780 even if it's not (yet) officialy supported. There are several roms for it on xda and there's also an android porting for this device.
Maybe a brand forum will be great too. For example a samsung or acer or anythig else forum with some subforums like rom developemente, q&a and general discussions.

Omnia 2 is winmo, this forum is for WINMO + ANDROID ONLY!!! iPhone can go somewhere else for the people who like it
I still want one for my HTC MADE IPAQ, its in the WIKI under HTC Roadster
but hey this is..or at least was htc forum and not winmo and android forum...so...if we are expanding towards samsung, motorola and some others, why don't we go for apple too
think about it
i mean i'm not supporting any of that but....higher force wants to try it out,so if we are opening our gates for non htcs....apple is also nonhtc...so what's the difference
Toshiba TG01
Acer S200
Omnia 1 and 2
If Xda is considering to open new foruns, lets open for new top mobiles that are/were best sellers
Thanks for the feedback thus far, it's helpful. We're indeed going to stick with just Windows Mobile and Android.
But on the other side allowing non htc mobile will mean let in any mobile. So admins, how will you then manage all this? What about server load and all the technical things it will bring along? And also will there be enough staff to monitor the behaviour of each and everyone? This is no simple question. Right now I see xda dev as a small group providing quality support and devs, what will it be then? Many bloggers refer to xda dev website, it is a turning point on the htc platform. Wont allowing other brands in kill this image?

I say expand to the iPhone field....wouldn't hurt to add it to the forums....we can say we hate it and that it suxs...whatever. XDA harbors people that want to push their phone's limits. I've been a follower of XDA for a while now, even when I had my iPhone, because the amount of talent in these forums are awesome. I say open the flood gates and bring in iPhone OS to the table. Droid and the new Dell Android would be great as well. My 2 cents
I kind of want to see a forum for the HTC Smart, running that Brew OS and a forum for the Android SE Xperia X10 and WM X2.

Official or not, this site has ALWAYS been a winmo forum. Given that HTC's devices mostly ran winmo, that's pretty much unavoidable - unless you think that all discussion/development of software that runs on non-HTC winmo devices should be banned, anyway. And the same goes for Android, now that it comprises ~half of HTC's product lineup - unless you think that half of HTC's current phones should be banned from an 'HTC forum'.
YES to new forums
I've been following XDA-Devs for quite some time now (over a year and a half, to be exact) ever since I gleefully bought my AT&T Tilt, and then was frustrated with it within a week. Prior to that, I have owned & happily modded several PPC's. I lurked on these forums for over a year before joining and asking anything. Almost every question I had was answered by patiently searching. So Junior Member, yes. Noob...not quite.
That being said, I am very heavily leaning towards replacing my battle-scarred Tilt with a Samsung Omnia II instead of a TP2 variant. Lots of pros, very few cons, at least for the things I use my device for the most. One of the BIGGEST cons, however, would be that I would lose the guidance, support, knowledge and hard-earned wisdom of the people that post here by straying from HTC.
And so I hesitate.
I've likely read posts into the multiple thousands here, and despite the device or app, or even OS under discussion, one theme runs through it all:
We love messing with our phones.
Better, stronger, faster, smarter, louder, brighter, more fun ..... ad infinitum.
So, for the sake of that common goal, I say add new forums. Break them down by manufacturer. Even iPhones. All those people that bought one, only to discover the limitations of their expensive "cool" new phone? Let's help those poor saps too, ok?
YES to new forums!!

Nokia and Windows phone 7

As many of you already know , nokia and microsoft are partners from now on , and some people are really looking forward to it. I can't wait to see Nokia windows phone 7 phones out there. You registered just for that?
To the OP: Nokia makes excellent hardware with very good build quality (N8 for example), and has some outstanding services and other applications I think will benefit anybody with a wp7. So with wp7's great UI and their great Hardware, I am eagerly awaiting a release of an upper end phone from Nokia.
Now we just need faster OS updating and we could be in for a great ride. Here's to hoping.
@markomarkogame,
Hi and welcome to the forums. There have been many threads created about Nokia and WP7, in which there have been discussions just like the one you're starting.
You may find that they are very useful and that it is somewhat unnecessary to start a new thread. We encourage users to search before posting.

The first comment was directed at "julisbulis" who apparently registered just to say they are going to suck lol.
Nokia Windows Phone is 'absolutely stunning’
"Absolutely stunning." That’s how everyone that's been shown Nokia's new Windows Phone 7 smartphone describes the device. This is according to Nokia’s Conor Pierce, general manager for UK and Ireland, in a one to one interview with Pocket-lint.
"To the partners we have shown the device to, their words, not necessarily mine - although I agree - upon showing it to them. It's spontaneous and unprompted. They say ‘the first Nokia Windows Phone is absolutely stunning’ and that’s die hard gurus in this business, who have thick skin," boasts Pierce.
"For them to say that spontaneously without any sales pitch shows what we are bringing is pretty spectacular. And that’s only the beginning.”
The phone Pierce is talking about is, of course, the soon to be announced, and hopefully soon to be released, Nokia Windows Phone. Dubbed Sea Ray and already enjoying its fair share of leaks, it is the company’s first foray into the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system and the phone that it hopes will help it turn around the fortunes of the once proud Finnish mobile phone maker.
"I’ve actually got one in my pocket, but I can't show you," he teases, leaving Pocket-lint unable to confirm the opinion of so many gurus.
Pierce, who also adds that he has "seen what’s coming," is very confident that the launch of Nokia Windows Phone 7 devices in the coming months is going to be the success that the company so drastically needs.
Rest of the interview here if anyone is interested: http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/42235/nokia-windows-phone-7-stunning

[News] Mango devices are going to be rolled out on September 1st?

http://www.wpcentral.com/mango-rollout-coming-september-1
Saw this article and also an article from HTC Vietnam
http://blog.htcsmartphone.com.vn/?p=1837 (use Google Translate if you want)
That mean, we can pick up new device on September 1st?
I can wait to renew my contract.
Sep 1st = Mango Release + Call of Duty XP
Sep 2st = Vietnamese Independence Day + Call of Duty XP
Too good for September.
I wouldn't count on seeing the update happen on Sept 1st. Microsoft is already saying that it won't release then and I cannot imagine the carriers have their crap together well enough to get ready for deployment by that time.
I would tend to agree, but it is also worth pointing out that Belfiore didn't actually say it wouldn't be released on the first. All he said is that it was a rumor (which means nothing more than it didn't come from an official Microsoft announcement). After all, when the first RTM announcement leaked, Microsoft was quick to say that it was also just a rumor, despite the fact that it was only 3 days away from actually happening.
I'm not trying to build up false hope, but at the same time, all we really have to go on is a rumor (that pocketlint believes to be credible) and a very vague response on Twitter.
As for carriers being ready, I just look back at NoDo. The HTC Arrive was ready to go a full month before most carriers had their upgrade testing completed for existing devices. If it means selling new hardware, rest assured they won't spin their wheels.
I am gonna have a new contract soon... do i have to buy a damn pre-paid simcard just to wait for new mango device?
Am I missing something here? At this point it is out of microsoft's hands right? Isnt it essentially up to the carriers when an update will be released?
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/41489/windows-phone-7-mango-1-september
Rumor continue.
don't quote the source of the first post as new info
then hunt around alittle more for this old news and see that joebelfiore says it just a rumor. (he is the corporate vice president and director of Windows Phone Program Management)

You mean the same way they "debunked" the release of the Mango beta to developers? There was a blog post that said it was coming "this week" (meaning the week of the post), and Microsoft's "debunking" response was "nothing is happening this week". While that was true, the release did happen, the next week. Or is it like the "debunking" of the RTM of Mango, which was reported on a number of sites as happening "today" (meaning the day of the report), which Microsoft "debunked" as "it's not happening today". Again, their statement was true, but it didn't bother to mention the fact that it was going to happen just 3 days later.
So, forgive me if I take Joe's very cryptic, ambiguous "Sept 1? Just a rumor." comment as much of a debunking. Maybe it won't happen on the 1st. Maybe it will be announced on the 2nd, at IFA. Or maybe it won't happen until a few weeks later. Just about anything is possible at this point.

It's not often Belfiore just openly states that it is just a rumor. Heck he posts windows phone, but not often to say whether something is valid or not. That's more of Brandon's schtick. Whether its one day or next week, we can say no Mango for Sept. 1...
We can speculate until the cows come home but there's no proof.
Okay, i will just hold my HD7 for a little bit longer and for CoD XP.
Can't wait for Eternity.
Off Topic : So, that mean, all Windows Phone is designed for 16-bit color after all?
So, when i see a 32-bit Color Image, what would happen?
