i've searched this forum for this issue, and found nothing.
my issue is, for some reason, i've changed my google account password from pc. after changing the password, my desire won't sync with all my google mail, calendar, etc.. is there any way to change the google account setting on my desire to match the new password?

Remove and add new. Its 1 minute job.
i've try to remove the account. then there's a pop up says "this account is required by some applications. you can only delete it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). you do that in the settings application, under about phone".
i don't want to loose all my data and apps. is there any way to change the password on my phone without resetting the phone?
Whenever I swap SIM cards in my phone, it always asks for the passwords for my Google accounts again (for security purposes).
I wonder if doing this will help you out with your issue.

I've upgraded my account to Gmail and now need to change the phone as it's not receiving emails due to being set to my old googlemail.com domain. Is there any way of doing this without having to hard reset the unit?
I know I can add it as a 2nd account but that doesn't allow calender sync and I wanna clean phone...
Hard reset only at them moment, annoyingly enough.
my girlfriends hero has the same issue. it has android 1.5 and she wont let me flash a new rom on it so she is getting annoyed with it because of this gmail/googlemail fiasco. Nevermind, il just say sorry it needs a new rom...
couldn't you simply remove the accounts and readd?
can't be done due to embedded linked data - I just reset the phone and set it up again (which I'll do again tonight once I've baked an MCRr2+App2SD)
Just change your account back to @googlemail.com if you can't be arsed with a reset. You only gain Picasa sync anyway.
I wanted the gmail.com as it's quicker to type! I'm lazy!
Even if you are officially @googlemail you should be able to use @gmail in all incoming and outgoing mail - works for me

But if I use gmail instead I still receive and send all my emails.

And if you change to gmail.com, googlemail.com will continue to work too.
I cannot be bothered. I use googlemail.com for entering credentials I don't need to enter again (such as e-mail), after all it's the actual username and gmail.com for logging into forums/giving out to friends etc...
Despite resetting my account to @googlemail and doing a factory reset on the phone, I discover today that both online and on the phone I am @gmail - without a word from Google!
Cunning little devils - makes you wonder what else they are doing with our phones that we don't know about?
I found that you often had to make the account switch a couple of times for it to actually register.
easily done in android 2+ but 1.5 i cant seem to find a way of removing/readding accounts.
nevermind.... its strange that it stopped working even though both gmail and googlemail work regardless...

I have my company gmail registered to my phone
Now I no longer in my old company so I wanted to delete the gmail account
But it does not allow me to remove the account & the error message that I received is:-

I tried to check and HTC Market is the 1 that keep on asking me to relog my company gmail but this email has already deactivated by company
I could not delete the account yet unable to relog the company gmail
Any 1 can help to share some idea besides master reset the whole cell phone?

So my first guess would be... that company gmail your trying to get rid of is also the same gmail that your phone is setup with, if this is infact the case, maybe try adding another google account first, and swaping everything in the phone to the account i.e. market, and google sync, and then try deleting, if that doesn't work, simply add another google account, set up everything on that account, and under accounts and sync, uncheck all of the sync options for the old google account, try deleting it again then, or just leave it there to rot and do nothing

after a new account is added, market, menu, accounts, should get a popup, window that allows you to select which account to use. Now you are going to lose anything that you previously had purchased on the other google account, maybe a way to contact google and have them transfer purchases or something.

You cant remove the email account used to set up device. Only way is factory reset.

stock messaging app in Sense 3 provides backup option , you can backup your contacts by going to people>Menu>Export
alternatively you can use MyBackup Pro, its v good when it comes to resetting your device

Try going to accounts and sync and just add another google account with you new password just make sure you check all the boxes so everything will sync correctly. You'll prob just have to have two accounts like that until you can backup everything and delete the main account.

You should be able to go to accounts and sync, delete the current google account, add new account, then put in the correct info.
I added another google account then synced it, but when i tired to delete the other one I need to reset the password to it said I have to format the phone because my apps on my phone need that gmail account to function correctly....it let me delete my other account I made tho. Any other ideas or easier way to do this? It seems it should be simple to change the password set up in my phone.....
Try opening talk or market on your phone, it well ask for new password.

I got it........the solution was for me to leave 3g on and I got a box to pop after a bit asking to re-enter my password for google because my account could not be authenticated. Hope this helps anyone in the future having a similar issue.

I am very much new to using HTC wildfire S as an android smart phone. I have purchased this an year ago,though.
I will come to the point with out much discussion.Your help is much appreciated in filing a bug against HTC Keyboard sense or wrong password authentication mechanism.
Step i followed:
1.Day before yesterday, I have rooted my phone and i have got all the data back again from recovery.
2.Once the phone is reset, it was prompting me to set up a new gmail account to perform syncing of contacts and mails.
3.I have given my old crenditals of gmail and the sync worked.
4.Today, I got a message from google that, my gmail account is being accessed from canada maliciously.So, it prompted me to reset my password along with SMS verification code.This made my gmail account login stronger. During this process, I have reset my gmail account password. ( the same account is being used by my htc wildfire S phone).
5.Now, my wildfire S is not able to recognize my new password to gmail account. Neither it recognizes my old password.
6.I have tried different key board input mechanisms to make sure that i am entering correct password.
7.Now, I am exhausted and thus i am writing this post.
Please help me.
I am suspecting as a bug in htc while syncing with gmail authentication servers.
I had faced similar problem a month ago while connecting to facebook from my HTC Wildfire S phone. My new gmail account works fine from the dolphin mini browser.But, it doesnot work from native gmail and facebook applications.

Tried with another gmail account.. Now it is working fine.
As I said in my previous post that, my original gmail account with which i had registered my mobile is still not working.
However, I have registered another gmail account to sync with contacts.With my second gmail account, I am able to sync the contacts from google servers.Also, with out a registered gmail account, i am unable to download apps from htc Appstore as well as Android Market place.
Now, I tried deleting my first gmail account, which is not working since the time i have changed its password.It says that you cannot remove the account as it is being used by other programs. Restore phone to default settings.
With out resetting my phone, How can i delete my original gmail account which is of no use.

This is my 2nd XZ2 Compact and I'm generally very satisfied with this device. However I've encountered an issue with the preinstalled Mail app. Last week it stopped syncing and I was unable to find out why, as it worked fine on my Z4 Tablet. It just kept saying that it couldn't connect to the server. After several attempts to enter the incoming mailserver name, password etc to make sure that this was not causing the problem, I decided to just remove the account and then re-enter the account details.
Now here's the problem as it keeps telling me that the account that I'm trying to enter is already there?? And if I do long-press on the icon it shows the account but when i select it, it shows the guide to enter a new account??
What to do? I've cleared cache but I'm not able to delete user data (greyed out).
I'd like to avoid resetting the phone, but if that's my last chance, then...
