Useage Monitoring App - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hey All,
Im sorry if this was asked before but I didnt see it and none of the keywords brought anything up for a phone only for a computer.
I know there is a too called sktools, which tracks images of before and after app installs, but I was wondering is there is such a thing as a monitoring program, such as I think its called process monitor for a computer?
I am trying to see if there is such an app that can kept a log in text of what the phone does as apps are called to load and function, my hopes is to narrow down calls that the app is making in real time so to find possibly sdome solutions to a common modding of files and apps, aka htc messaging msg loading.
If there isnt one, could someone make one? And if there is one, can someone provide me a link since I couldnt hit it with my searches?
Thanx.

Closing running programs

Has Any one found a program or hack that aloows you to close the running programs when you hit the little X ? It seems simple but Im not sure why they made it so they still run when you close the program for all of the applications. When I pess the X I'm done what about you all?
Dekum of the New Outriders
Dekum:
Many people have found many ways of doing it. A search will open this world up to you.
Here's a good way to do it though:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/smclose.shtml
As I said, there are other ways, it may be in your interest to get a wider opinion before diving in to smclose.

Thanks thats what I was looking for I will let you know how it works.
I use one called Close All. Basically a red X that when executed will close all running apps. Very handy. Much quicker than Start>Settings>System>Memory>Running Programs>Stop All.
I've tried a lot of these and all suffer the problem of not being able to close the phone dialer and most bork some how. ActiveSync can also be a pain closing, but some tools are better than others.
My personal favs are:
vbar: http://www.vieka.com/vbar.htm
magicbutton: http://www.trancreative.com/mb.aspx
I've stuck with magicbutton til I find something that reliably closes the apps above and provides it's simplicity and functionality. I use the battery meter it provides as I have the systray off (until I find something remotely useful for that area). Also I can hide dialer and async and also set them to keep alive, which both keeps them happy and me not seeing them unless I want to
Anyways, plenty of choices, most can be found on google using a search phrase like "pocketpc task manager" or ppc... etc. Gl.
any programs that could be customized (we can choose) whether if we like to close it or just minimize it?
eg: for file explorer if we tap close button then it will close the application, but for messaging if we tap close button then it only minimize it.
yeah many pda programs dont like being terminated in that way
doing it just after sending a sms is giving ppl problems with 2 sms's sendt and sms iron not going away from the title bar
other programs would prob also act up thinking of data not being saved correct
since i suspect some pda programs only really save in when they are closed the normal way as in by the OS
I did try the magicbutton and it seem to work better than the smclose I havnt tried the other yet let know and thanks for the help all this is a great source of information for the 8125 and htc phones.
Thumbs way up!!!!
Vap: VJOkButt has a specific mode for closing the phone, -phclose.
It will close the phone, but it's not advisable to close the phone because it introduces a minor incompatibility - trying to dial from the contacts app will cause problems. However, if you never do this, it'll save you a few 100k.
I've also written two apps specifically to close the phone, I think one if VJPhoneToggle or something.
Again, closing activesync is not advisable because if you're connected through GPRS/Wifi etc, it'll hangup your connection. In most use the app will be hidden from view anyway. VJOkButt ignores ActiveSync.

Data connection question

I have the Telus Touch Pro 2 and have noticed for quite some time now it has been randomly connecting and I haven't been able to track down what program is doing it. I have disabled the push internet and even installed the NoPushInternet_v2.cab but it is still doing it.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Is there a program that can track what programs call up the Data connection or maybe the aGPS?
Thanks for any info you guys may have.

If you have it enabled, both the weather tab and the Facebook integration will use up data.
Also, if you set up an exchange account, use activesync, Windows Live account, or QuickGPS.
Google Maps can also run in the background to transmit your location data if you have it enabled for Latitude.
Make sure you used tools like memmaid or other similar tools. It will show u what services is running even though you thought those programs that you closed, actually they are not closed.
I have mine behaving the same problem like u discribed, checked the microsoft live service still run causing the problem. I used memaid to stop it from lauching. and now it fixed.
hi there
maybe this will help OP as well, is there a tweak that will allow the Data connection to ask permission before connecting?
thanks in advance
C
That was one of the things that really bugged me when I first got my TP2. I didn't always need data, and it annoyed me because of the batt instead of data charges. Try a program called No Data. I think the actual cab file is called nodatahtcdriver. You'd have to do a search to find it because I can't remember where I found it. It allows you to toggle your internet, data and MMS.

[Q] Remote location/wipe software

I have been trying to find a solution that can remotely locate or wipe my EVO 4G through an SMS interface. I have tried a whole bunch of the apps on the market but I cannot seem to find one that meets my needs. The problem that I have is due to the fact that I keep my mobile data turned off when I am not using the phone. The apps I have tried all require an internet connection to send out the location report.
Does anyone know of an app that can reply to a special SMS phrase with lat/lon coordinates? Or an app that can activate the mobile data connection from an SMS phrase? I am sure that someone has thought of this already but I cannot seem to find one.
Thanks
Edit: It shouldnt matter, but just in case, I am running decks pb22 ICS build.

The app you are looking for is Tasker. Amazing app, basically works on "if/then" variables. You can set a task for when the phone receives a text from a certain number, or with a certain phrase (passcode), the phone can turn on gps and 3g, and even text you back with a Google Maps live link of where the phone is.
Check out their website, specifically the tasks wiki, and you will see all the amazing things this app can do.

[Q] Latest HTC Gallery update [CLOUD]

Hy,
anyone saw that the new gallery update brings "Browse your photos and videos in the cloud" functionality?
Now I sure dont see any option for this but at night I got a notification from Coud that "duplicates has been deleted"...
I dont know where I can find this features, but I sure dont want any photos/videos uploaded to cloud without my permission... So if anyone have any info on this, I would really appreciate it.
Best regards
X2
I have an htc one m7 that I just updated to the latest version, after a reboot it shows the same message "gallery cloud" duplicate... etc
It didnt ask for my permission, I have the htc sync disabled, cant seem to find the option to disable this POS. Not happy.
I just noticed this morning the same behavior. I am trying to find out where this service is coming from, why it is running without my permissions and why it is putting my personal information in the cloud somewhere and I don't know where or how to get it, shut it off, or change it. It has really pissed me off to no end. I am hoping someone has an idea.
Just came here looking for the same answer.
A bit of a **** move if HTC is uploading peoples pics without asking first!!
I've emailed HTC via the play store app and asked how do we turn this feature off. I'll post if I get an answer...
Chiming in. just saw this, not pleased. I'm thinking of disabling the app till a solution is found.
I might bin it too, don't want this feature using up my data allowance...I've got about 4000 pictures on my phone...
yea wtf
Same issue. my phone keeps giving me a Cloud Gallery notification every 10 minutes or so saying it deleted duplicate photos. What in the world HTC was thinking, we may never know. But they need to let us turn this off because I show it using my data. Not cool HTC.
To add to it, I open my gallery and its cycling through all of my photos. Constantly. I click a folder, then the 'highlights' starts fast-cycling through every single photo in the folder. Not like a preview as it used to (which was annoying). This needs to stop. As someone else mentioned, I also have thousands of photos on my phone and this is driving me nuts.

HTC Cloud Gallery does not upload any of your files to the cloud. It only indexes whatever you have on Dropbox, GDrive, FB, Flickr, only after you have agreed to link to those sites. If you see photos found by Cloud Gallery, those could be uploaded by Dropbox or GDrive automatically. You need to check their settings. Again, Cloud Gallery is a "read only" indexing service.
Started getting the same notification since the last few days -- and the worst part is that there doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere in the gallery app or in the system settings allowing to configure this "Cloud Sync" or turn it off all together.
And now I really don't know if my pictures got "synced" somewhere in someone's cloud Really annoying. Uninstalled the gallery app altogether with Titanium Backup root uninstall.

I have the same issue. Haven't found a solution yet but I wanted to let you know that freezing/uninstalling gallery will stop the cloud syncs but there are side affects.
I froze it and all seemed normal until I tried to set a contact image. Freezing gallery somehow disrupted the ability to link images to contacts. I tried it from within the contact app and through a third party gallery app and it wouldn't work either way. I had to defrost the HTC gallery in order to set the contact image.
There maybe other side affects but that was the only one that I ran into.

[Q] Trying to remove app that doesn't appear in app list

Forgive me if this is a simplistic question, but I can't figure out what's going on with my phone.
I have an app that tracks my data usage and gives me a breakdown of which apps are using the most data. Recently, an app called MyFlare has appeared on the list and it's using quite a bit of data. I went to uninstall it, though....and I can't find it. It's not in the general apps list, it's not in the application settings menu under "all apps" and I can't even find it if I do a file search on "MyFlare." This has me really concerned that I inadvertently downloaded something harmful. I've run several scans through Lookout and that has not turned up anything malicious, but I'm still worried.
I think Cox communications has an app called MyFlare that's some kind of photo backup or something. I use Cox for my internet and may have downloaded the app when I first signed up with them, but it's not on my phone anymore.
Could someone help me figure out if I downloaded something malicious and how to remove it quickly?
Can you post a screenshot of this issue
That would be greatly appreciated
Sorry for the delay, here are the screenshots.
In the first, you can see that myflare is using quite a bit of data:
But in the second picture, that app doesn't appear in my apps list....
(I'm posting from my phone and it said that the pictures uploaded, but if somehow they didn't, I'll re-upload when I get back to my computer)
