Have you checked Aximsite? Also, you might want to start with pre-WM6.5 versions of Windows Mobile (to learn how to do it right). Trust me, trying to fit everything you want into ~30mb (the size of the storage space you have to work with to fit everything in the rom image) is hard work.
If you're not running the latest Dell WM5 stock rom (latest version for X50 series is A02), I would suggest that you download the WM5 upgrade cd (if you're running pre-WM5 Windows Mobile) using the link on my flashing sticky on Aximsite and running it, and then downloading the WM5 A02 update from Dell's support site.

OK, peeps, what am I doing wrong?

Right.... so..... I installed WM2005, and it was OK, except that I couldn't read anything from my SIM. Dying to get my hands on a Universal now though!
Trying to downgrade to 2003SE, I ran a freshly cooked ROM from Stefan's kitchen and it didn't work. GetDeviceData failed, and the app seemed to not recognise that the device was connected.
So I grabbed O2's latest thang from their website. THAT seems to be able to read the device data from 2005 without a problem. At first, it screwed everything up as my XP decided it wanted to do some stuff with drivers and the device got locked in the Bootloader.
I reinstalled WM2005 - since that will install on a completely empty device and won't whine if it can't see the device on ActiveSync or get the current version data.
I retried O2's thing, which proceeded to clear the ROM and dump a new one into it, upgrading the Radio Stack at the same time. Now I have a fully working O2 installation.
The ROM EXE I got from Stefan's kitchen still reports the same errors:
In the DOS window:
ERROR: GetDeviceData - Unspecified error
error getting devicedata
PROGRAMME A V1.09:
ERROR 011: EXECUTE REMOTE COMMUNICATION PROGRAM ERROR
Cannot execute the remote communication program.
Please make sure that the USB/Serial cable is properly connected.
This is with a completely clean O2 installation on an O2 device. About reads:
Microsoft (R) Pocket PC
Version 4.20.0 (Build 14053)
(C) 1996 - 2003 Microsoft Corporation.
As an aside - the WM2005 installer seems happy with doing stuff without first being able to check the existing versions, and never fails to install even if you have no OS on the device. Wouldn't it be a good plan to use this version in the ROMKitchen?
ROMKitchen is only for Wallaby devices and not for Himalaya or anything else......

guide to how you move to 2003SE
Thankyou

Need to go back to ppc 2003.. help please!

I just installed windows mobile 2003SE on my xda2 replacing 2003, i had lost com ports 4 and 5 and didnt know how to get them back.
That worked great until i flashed the Ext Rom with my own medley of software. I am now getting messages saying that the sofware i am installing was written for an earlier version (2003) and may not work. Pda then locks up until i do a soft reset then starts without my stuff.
Cut a long story short i want to reinstall factory version of windows mobile 2003... Anyone know a good link to download it?
P.S Tried o2 website but no luck
CHEERS
Cunning plan!!
OK..... So all copies of wm2003 has been banished to hell !!!
Next plan !.. I have another xda2 with wm2003 installed... all i have to do is get a copy from it and install it back on my other xda2!!
Only one problem... dont know how?
The first launch rom is here
ftp://[email protected]/Himalaya/ROM1.03/O2 XDA2 1.03 first Rom/Xda_II_LaunchROM_v10311.zip
I guess its wm 2003
whats the rom no of your other xda2?
rom version 1.72.00wwe
Is this file self loading or do i need some other software... cheers!
NOTE: That file has just come through corrupt... going to try again !
Its self loading after connecting device via activesync but its a much older rom - trying to put my hands on your rom.
It looks like the 1.72 was an upgrade to an older rom
good resource is here http://www.slipstreamsolutions.co.uk/support/rom_updates.htm
You could run the rom 1.31.139 and then the 1.72 update
or backup your 2003 rom on a sd card see here http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=62
Thanks mark, been searching all night for it !

Question about WM 6.5.5..Please read

I'm wondering... is WM 6.5.5 comes with titanium or it's an addition that the Cooker put in the ROM..
i mean.. is there a way to Cook a rom with no UI such as Manila or titanium in it?
Such as this? ( I know it's 6.1...but it's only for the example...)

Titanium comes with 6.5.5, but I think that maybe you could remove it during the cooking procedure.
There is CHome package in Sys, maybe If we removed it (and some other maybe) we can cook without titanium.
You still can disabled titanium on the settings/home/items and unchecked windows default, i know it isn't part of your question (just to let you know in case).
ok... thanks for the replay...
btw...someone know if there is a super Lite version of 6.5.x?
i mean really really lite?

List of current ROMS?

Since I been away from the HTC scene for some time and now reviving my TYTN, I'm looking for a new ROM for it. However, I see lot's of all topics floating arround with old ROMS. Which are the currently-alive roms? Which is the fastest?
You can try build higher than 23000 being winmo 6.5 with cool layout but memory and cpu consuming. I tried them, but eventually kept running "wm6.1 Pays ROM WWE with Big Storage build 19199 v3.05".
This is because I have the HTC TyTN with 64Mb.
- [FAST] Shamanix`s Grass v2.2 [FAST]
- [22 FEB 2008 / FASTER] Pays ROM Lite & Full - WM6.1 v3.05 FINAL WWE with Big Storage
i can't download
I managed to download, so persevere. now running Pay's full ROM which I have to say is a beaut. (after applying the keyboard fix).
I'd like to get WM 6.5 on there, but there is just too little memory to make it worthwhile.

try darkvision, I think, this WM6.5.x is one with the most RAM outside? 28-30MB RAM, who has more?
And it has a kitchen, to disable or enable some apps.
But where in this forum ist the description of all the oem-Packages, like GPSID, MediaOS, etc.?
6.1 new new 10th August 2010
Old Que ROM 6.1

Not gonna happen
Unfortunately I don't think there will ever be an Android ROM that works on P3600. The Android image would have to be adapted, then drivers for P3600 components would have to be developed and tested.
As you see this would require a lot of effort from a manufacturer team. And even more from a non-official team that doesn't has access to a lot of inside information about the phone components and would have the blocking point of having to reverse engineer a lot of stuff.
For Samsung Omnia i900 that is a WM6.1 device from 2008, there were some developers that started an android project for omnia. They released an android image that could be booted from the SD card so you don't have to give up from WM. Still this android image has a lot of issues that during the last 1,5 year it hasn't solved. No phone, sound only works on loudspeaker, has no camera support, no wifi and a lot of other goodies that the phone has. Some of the hardware buttons don’t yet work, touchscreen occasionally freezes, and sometimes the whole screen turns black, shows streaky text or other glitches, which have to be fixed with a restart. Basically it is only usefull to play angry birds (if it runs).
If you want Angr Bird, Can play it on PC !!!

I think, We need lite Rom for phone, Symbian or Java Rom for p3600. Android is great but I think can't install it on p3600. We can think about other rom and os for it.
