I need a recommendation for an app... - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

that has weather, schedule and to-do list, preferably occupying one page in idle mode, like the samsung widgets.

you want something like this for the build in TweaUI ?
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/transparent-lock-screen-hack-for-droid-eris-and-hero-cdma/

I think you are talking about the "Daily Briefing". It's a good app, I specially like the Acuweather. You can remove the app from your idle screen if you don't like it by tapping and holding the icon and then draging it the bin which appears on the bottom of the screen.

yea.. but I don't think accuweather is very informative. Furthermore, can I add my own personal add-ons for daily briefing? I don't want Y! Finance. :X And for daily briefing, I can only add events instead of 'to do's, and ya, I would like it to be like HTC's Sense interface.

I muss the utility of the Sense Clock, any suggestions?

I've switched to CM7 recently, and really miss the utility of the Sense clock app.
Would really like something that has clock/alarm/timer/stopwatch in one app.
I've searched for a while and can't find anything.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Well, i can't say i know something that covers all your req's, but I use FlipClock Blue Magic and it is a pretty nice clock. Resembles the sense clock and allows skins and other customizations. It can show your next alarm on the clock (although not set a new alarm). It does allow you to set an application to start when you touch the hours part of the clock. It can also display system information and weather.
No timer/stopwatch though, but if you find a timer/stopwatch app, you can set it to launch that app by touching the hours on the clock.
... Just set the cm clock as the application to launch for the hours and it brings you to a screen where you can set a new alarm, show picture slideshow, access your music, and get back to your home screen. Might be worth a shot
This was written by an XDA dev. Absolutely awesome.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I'm not looking for a widget. I'm fine with Beautiful Widgets/Simi.
<br>
I have it now set up to bring up stock clock when the hour/minutes are touched. I wanted instead to have it launch something else that would include both a clock and a timer/stopwatch.
But I guess if it doesn't exist, then it doesn't exist.
Oh, lol! Sorry I totally misunderstood your question lol. I will keep an eye out now that I re-read lol

Some Tips & Tricks

I stumbled across these and thought I would share. Feel free to add anything you might have found:
If you turn off auto-brightness, you can brighten the screen with a swipe of the finger. Just press the notifications area and move your finger left or right.
On both the homescreen and the apps menu you will see a row of dots indicating which page you are on. Hold the dot and scroll left or right. The pages will quickly scroll until you see the page you want.
You can focus your camera on a specific thing by touching that area on your screen.
In the camera app you can use the volume buttons to zoom in and out. OR you can pinch to zoom in and out.
Mute the Battery Notification (using Tasker) Directions are here.
Swipe left on contact name from the contact list and you'll automatically be able to send a text.
Swipe right on a contact name from the contact list and you'll automatically be able to call them.
Press your home button and lock screen button (power button) at the same time to save a screenshot.
You can scroll much faster on some apps such as YouTube, Astro File Manager and Market by using 3 fingers and if you scroll with 2 fingers you get precise scrolling (no scroll momentum).
Hold down the home button to access recent programs and the task manager.
Good stuff. Thanks!
Very useful tips, thanks!
But aren't these two basically the same thing?

I'll still never understand the logic of having a WHITE background in a messaging app... Talk about a battery killer!
That's one thing I'm going to miss about the Moment. Black background in the STOCK app, rather than having to install a 3rd party app.
All though, if I'm forced to, Go SMS is my preference.

Thanks for the tip! It worked but now I have a followup question. Is there anyway to use the Handcent Icon widget in my dock? One of the reasons I love Handcent is the widget that shows how many unread messages I have.
FYI, other reasons I like Handcent: the lockscreen popup, it allows me to use my own sounds/mp3s as ringtones and alarms, Emoji pack allows me to send and receive emoji icons with my iPhone friends
U can hold 2 points on the screen like with ur thumbs for example. Then tilt ur phone forward or back to zoom. Just like that 10.1 tablet

Can you turn off the silly "bubble" chat with Handcent yet? Last time I tried it (a year ago) I couldn't stand the comic book look.
I'll probably use Go SMS until a dev over at SDX reverse releases a black version of the stock SMS.apk.
I'm also hoping the old version of GMail works so I can copy it over and use it with LauncherPro with working mail counts.
U dont have to have to have the bubble look. Handcent gives us different options. Android style is included if u r curious

[APP][LAUNCHER] TasKarou Launcher Overlay

Tired of moving your fingers up/down your tablet to switch applications? Try out TasKarou!
TasKarou is a multitasking launcher overlay.
Taking inspiration from the 'Quick Controls' feature in the android browser, TasKarou provides a multitasking layer on top of a launcher on tablets.
By swiping anywhere on the left or right edge of your tablet screen, you can activate TasKarou's UI.
It gives you access to a quick, smooth, and intuitive interface to facilitate app launch, transition, and management for the user
The user interface brings a more responsive, and enjoyable level of interaction to your tablet.
Notes:
To use TasKarou, set it as the default home launcher, and from TasKarou's settings, select the actual home launcher you want to overlay.
TasKarou user interface is then triggered by swiping from either the left of right edge of your tablet screen, while still allowing access to the overlaid home launcher through the home button.
The app is also available in the android market.

It's not possible to use both at the same time, since both controls rely on the user touching the edge of the screen.
If you have an idea on how I could get around that issue, I'm all ear.

some ideas from the top of my head:
- disable taskarou menu completely when in browser
- disable one side of the screen (permanently or when in browser)
- disable the upper/lower/middle half of the screen (permanently or when in browser)
on another note, the notification HAS to go. at least make it optional.
that being said, i really do like the concept of the app :good: i found myself regularly swiping in from the screen edges when not in browser, and then being disappointed that nothing happened.

Definitely slick in some aspects. Can't say I really like it as it messes with my LMT set up and takes up more RAM on top of it.
There's a lot to be done like distinguishing different "hotspots" and designating right side only or left side only. Overall though I really enjoy the transitions and how the menu auto-switches based on which choices you're hovering over. Very intuitive choices too that I agree with about which things go where.
Looking forward to the potential this holds in the future. I may just abandon my LMT setup if done right.
Edit: And of course the ability for users to add/edit the options, potentially switch the color for mere superficial reasons. Something like my screenshot.

Maybe ask SwipePad's developer.
(I'm not being sarcastic)
Really useful. Love the idea, but it does cause a few conflicts with apps that rely on swiping from the sides of the screen. Having said that, when I set the margin to 13 pixels I can use the Dolphin browser (for example) without too many issues by not swiping from the outer edge, but by placing the finger a little more away from the edge and then swiping inwards. Other apps are less forgiving.
What about a button in the notification area, which is visible at all times anyways?
EDIT:
If swiping has the preference, then it would be more logical to align the available programs/tasks to the side from which was swiped. Swiping and selecting can be done with one hand then, regardless of which hand was used to swipe with.
The recents button is useless, I never use it, ever.
I'd like the option to use this instead and just disable the side activation altogether.
Nice idea. However on TF101 after getting the quick control moving the finger to one of the options too fast causes the quick controls to disappear. I have to move the thumb really slow in order to select any option. Hopefully, this will be fixed soon:fingers-crossed:.
ppl get over it, the man is trying to make ur life simpler, so if u don't like some stuff about the app then tell him your opinions in a decent way so he can make a proper development for the app instead of trashing it, otherwise f*** off
I like this!
1. I only see it from the right edge in portrait.
2. Might have a user selected area(s) for its swipe. This would allow those with conflicts to fix them. There is a similar app on Play which just gives a row running/recent apps icons which is not a bad interface. I found its use of the bottom obtrusive.
3. The home key does not go home in the base browser (I am using Trebuchet on a CM10).
4. There is a difference between "running" and "recent" (exited, cached, and still available.) !!
Long press of home gives a vertically tiled thumbnail view of both.
Taskarou shows only icons of running apps, not recent.
Taskarou should show both, either in two panes or in one with some distinction?, i.e. frame around one or the other. I sort of like having the thumbnails and they could be tiled or cascaded. If cascaded, should be focus-able, if tiled, scroll larger view like the app list. Best eliminated the number of apps option or make that for the pane (but that would be scroll-able for more). Cascading the main webOS motif. Flick down to kill?

First of all, as far as I can see, no one is trashing his app. So maybe lower your tone a bit and at least pretend to be able to communicate in a proper way.instead of telling people to "F-off".
The developer probably appreciates the feedback as he responds to it. Feedback (be it positive or negative) is valuable for both him and the app he works on. The end product can benefit from any kind of feedback as it points out flaws and strong points, and it can give the developer some different perspectives and experiences from different users and from different devices.
The day a developer stops listening to his/her targeted market is the day the product will begin its downfall.

Was having issues on my Nexus 7 running SmoothRom 4.1.2. Updated to 4.2 and no more disappearing quick controls as soon as my finger leaves the border. To get them to stay I had to leave my finger there for at least 1.5 seconds. Now all is well. Really liking it. I look forward to extended and customizable menus
Update:
Scratch that. Conflict was gesture control. Had it set to consume events in starting zone. So a touch on the edge first went to gesture control. Just an iD10t error.

[Q] Removing/Changing the apps in the bottom row of the home screen

Hi there,
Just got a new Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. There's a line of apps installed below the page/panel indicator on the home screens, with a bunch of (to me) ill chosen apps. But I can't drag them off the screen to delete them, like I can the ones above the page indicator. I can't find any mention of what this apparently separate panel is called to search better.
Of interest, are people happy with their purchase of one of these? So far I'm finding it pretty ordinary - not horrible, just ordinary...

Just drag the apps on the lower part of your home screen to the upper part where it says delete. then you can go to your apps and drag them to the lower part of your home screen to add them in the dock
If you're saying about the lock screen then I don't know
Hi!
I'm pretty happy with the tab 10.1! With the latest OTA update it runs even smoother! The runtime is great, can handle up to 5 days with daily usage without charging. I received my leather case today, a 360° case.. I can put it horizontal or vertical and it "wakes up" when i open the case.
With that prize its an absolutely recommendation.

Hi there,
On the default home page, there's two large widgets on the top (weather and news). Below that there's a Google search bar. Below that there's a row of shortcuts. These all behave normally. Below that there's the page/panel indicator (telling you which home page you're on) and then at the bottom there's another row of shortcuts. It's that last, bottom row that I'm having trouble with. They don't seem to act normally - I can't drag them off to delete as normal. They appear to be hardwired. They are not the choice I would select and I want to change them.
Are other people able to delete these shortcuts?
Thanks!

I have the same problem. I'm tired of reading the answer "click and hold then drag it up". It seems to be the stock answer on all forums. They won't move! No matter what I do, the ridiculous row of apps bottom most on the screen is stuck. There's no help for this in the help app/widget. Someone must know how to unlock these darn things. I want to replace them with ones I use regularly.

Qranparoger,
Unfortunately that is the correct answer of click and hold and move. I just did it to mine and I can move two of the three apps I have in the bottom row. The only one that cannot move is APPS. My SETTINGS and FIREFOX can both be moved to the main screen above the bottom row.
My tab is rooted, but uses stock rom. There is nothing special about what I have done. I checked settings to see if I had changed a display or security function but I do not see anything. I do remember when I first got the tab that I too was having problems. But I do remember solving it and removing the bottom row (except APPS) and rearranging the icons or deleting the icons.
It think that maybe it might be in the APPLICATION MANAGER in SETTINGS that you "Turn Off" the app and it might vanish from the bottom of the screen. Again, I cannot remember how I did it but it can be done.

Latest ROM update - still can't change the apps. My tab isn't rooted, and I couldn't be bothered to now. I don't necessarily want to "turn off" the apps, just not use my precious home screen space. Anyway, I solved the problem by buying a Nexus. Yep, free Samsung is just collecting dust, piece of rubbish... Question PSA inner screen dock -> taskbar

So I've never used OneUI even though I had a ZF3. Now with the new Taskbar I'm *trying* to live life without Nova Launcher, because of the Taskbar on the ZF4.
One thing that I didn't realize immediately, is that you can have more apps in your dock on the inner screen than the outer screen, even with mirroring on. The outer screen will show the first 5 apps, and then you can have 3 more on the inner screen that only show when you open the device. The benefit of doing this is of course that those 3 extra apps will show in the taskbar.
Just thought those who are new to the Taskbar might not realize this...
I faced the same dilemma. Love Nova launcher but giving a try to One UI. Task bar interfere when playing clash of clans specially when dropping troops near bottom left corner. Can figure it how to deal with it without deactivating it.
Settings, display, touchbar, then set the show and hide with touch and hold. Then long touch will make it go away
https://imgur.com/a/CvjMt7N
Install goodlock from the samsung store and then the navstar.
You can enable "show task stack" to show the taskbar even while using Nova. It's not exactly the same thing but pretty close.
Set the recents button to split screen to get app search functionality.
Btw I use microsoft launcher which I find as good and sometimes better than Nova

Correct, you lose the "android" gestures. One-Handed Operation+ still works though to swipe-back from the right edge, as an example.
