Boot looping issue - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was messing around with my phone flashing roms to see what I liked best and got too far ahead of myself and forgot to wipe data and cache. Now, I'm stuck in some kind of "boot loop" and can't get back into ClockWorkRecovery(Via root) to perform a restore. My computer just isn't recognizing that I have my phone connected now although it did previously. Is there anything I can do in this situation, or am I basically screwed?
Edit: I solved the issue on my own, it just took lots of playing around and disconnecting/reconnecting before I was able to get back into CWR. If a mod sees this, go ahead and delete this thread it has no purpose.

HELP
Please, i have the same issue
My phone has been bootlooping for a week now, so much i decided to give up.
Please please please tell me how you got back to clockwork and then from there what to do
Thank you so so much in advance

My guess, and this is only a guess, is to try the following.
Assuming you have already flashed the ENG build...
1. Place a new update.zip (clockwork recovery) onto root of the phone's SD card (probably using a card reader, just to be on the safe side).
1.5 Turn the Phone off, if it's on.
2. Hold down Volume Down + Power Button to turn on the phone and boot into the phone's default recovery.
3. Press Volume Up + Power button to get the selectable menu.
4. Select the "Apply update.zip" option (2nd one down).
5. This should boot you into the Clockwork Recovery.
From there, locate the ROM you want to use that's meant for the Slide (like SlidemeRoot 5).
1. Download the ROM.
2. Navigate to the mount menu in clockwork and select the option to mount the card as USB Mass Storage.
3. Plug the phone into the PC (via USB cable).
4. Copy the ROM to the card.
(My trick here is to redownload ROMs. I've seen my phone bootloop when the ROM doesn't download all the way.)
1. Unmount USB.
2. Navigate to the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option.
3. Select Yes from the menu to wipe everything.
4. Locate the install any zip option and install the ROM
5. When that's done, select the reboot option.
From here, you can just leave the phone alone until it boots. If you worry or want to watch, use adb to watch the logs.
1. In command prompt, navigate to where you have ADB installed.
2. type in: adb logcat
3. Enjoy.
For me, the first boot for SlidemeRoot took at least a minute. I could see the logs rolling along, so I just left it alone until the logs slowed down and then stopped. By then, the phone looked like it was ready to go (complete with normal screen, signal, and everything).

I did the same thing, but I havent flashed my rom with the eng build, is there anything I can do, or is my phone hosed? My phone wont boot, and I cant get it to boot up in clockwork, so I cant reflash it...

[Q] Recovery and/or Wipe not working.

OK, so I have my wife's old Incredible that was Rooted with Unrevoked. It was kept stock Rooted.
She got an Incredible 2 and I now want to sell her old Incredible. Tried to Wipe data and SD Card using the Data and Storage Settings menu. The phone acts like it is doing both things, but doesn't actually format the SD Card, and when doing a Factory Reset, the phone reboots and acts like it is wiping the data. When it boots back up, her background is still there and there are a bunch of widgets that say "Problem Loading Widget" on them. It does seem to remove some items as email accounts are reset, GMail, etc. are all wiped.
So, I reboot into Recovery to try and reflash the stock Radio, put S-On, and install the stock ROM, but no matter what I choose in Clockwork Recovery, I get a "blank" screen after choosing a menu item. For example, when I go to "Install Zip from Sdcard," It will take the input and where it would normally ask what Zip I want to install, it only shows the background of CWR. If I try to Wipe Data, where normally it would have all the menu options with "NO" and the one that says "Yes - Wipe Data," that menu never shows up.
So, I can't fully wipe the thing, and I can't seem to flash stock Boot, Recovery, etc. to get this back to stock so I can sell it.
Any ideas?
I'll try helping you out.
1) download a new Incredible recovery from dougpiston.com/ and follow his directions above the downloads.
2) reboot into hboot (you can also turn off phone then hold vol down + power). It should prompt for an update, which you should accept. Let your phone do it's thing, it may take several minutes or longer.
3) Once you have a new recovery, delete that PB31IMG recovery file.
Your recovery should work as expected now. Btw, where did you download the s-on file from?

I downloaded both the Stock recovery, flashed and got a picture of a phone with a Red Exclamation point on it. I then downloaded CWR 3.0.0.8 and flashed that, this time it goes into recovery but does the same thing the other one does: Shows the menu options but then the screen goes blank if I try to choose an option.
EDIT: Holy poop, I think I know what the issue was all along! Basically, I was thinking that recovery worked like my Thunderbolt in that the Vol +/- was how to scroll in CWR menus and the PWR button was the select. Turns out that you use the trackball to both scroll AND select menus in CWR on the DInc!
I just wiped the device in CWR and it is booting up. I already sold the phone to a friend and she told me to keep it Rooted with a stock ROM on it, so I don't have to go any further provided that it wipes properly!
Well as long as it works!

Failed Root; Stuck in Loop "process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

Hello and thank you for taking time to read this post.
I attempted to root my At&t Samsung Galaxy S3 today then install tha AOKP Rom, and it back fired due to poor instruction, and poor execution. At the moment my phone, whenever it turns on "inititing swager" (with a pink horse and gears) then gives me a pop-up saying "Unfortunatly the process com.google.process.gapps has been stopped." and "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped". Whenever I hit ok, the other shows up. I have access to the pull down menu, but can't open any of the links on it. I can also shut it off then get back to the root(hat menu) menu. From which I have tried the option "wipe data/Factory Reset" link, but that changes nothing when I reboot. At this point I am just looking for a way to get it back to factory settings or at least working!
How I got here:
1. Rooted the phone through my computer (successfully it seemed)
-Using this tutorial: /watch?v=bIUA1IxiJzo
2.Started puting AOPK on!
(with this: /watch?v=qzcR-G7EKSw
Look, I know none of you have to help me but any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I hav looked through other forums about the gapps error, but the difference is mine is not running to the home screen so I can't go to application manager!
Two suggestions:
1) Put your phone in recovery mode (i.e. where you can do factory resets from), transfer a different ROM image over to the device (I'd use adb to do that from recovery mode), flash it, clear data/cache/etc., reboot the phone, and hope it works.
2) Put the phone in download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power; just like entering recovery, but Vol Down instead of Vol Up), and use Odin to flash a rooted stock image as detailed here; put CWM / TWRP / whatever recovery you want to use on the phone again, and get back to flashing ROM images from there.
In the future, try to be careful of what ROMs you flash... not everything works very well, as you've just discovered.
Thank you for responding so quickly! I am attempting the first method, however i am not sure how to transfer a different rom image(im assuming the adb stands for Android Debug Bridge). I was using the internal SD, but I can plug it the phone into my computer, and it says no drivers found for this device, where before it recognized the phone. Once I get that I can clear the other data and restart.
Your help is very appreciated!

How can I post a doubt in XDA forum?
What custom recovery is on your phone? I suggest installing Philz Touch via Odin if possible and then flash a new rom from an external SD card.

phone bricked? stuck at "this build is for.." screen

hi guys,
today i made a huge mistake. i was trying to deinstall the cm9 by just wiping my phone. accidentaly i made a "system wipe" with my recovery. now my phone ist stuck in the "this build is for development purposes only" screen. i tried to reboot into recovery via the aio kit - error: device not found. (led not flashing, not even when i connect it to the "normal" loading adapter). i just read another thread which ended in sending the device back to htc. i wonder if there is any possibility to safe my phone from that.

Are you able to acces the Bootloader by closing the phone and restart it by keeping pressed at same time VOLUME DOWN + POWER ?
Be careful: Do NOT press volume UP!, Do not hold Volume Down for too long!
Once you are in the bootloader you should be able to:
A:Go into recovery and repair it from there in you have the ROM on your SD card.
B:If you are unable to acces recovery mode from bootloader, try to use the All In One Tool and flash the TWRP Recovery (the one in the right part of the window) also, note that there are too version, CDMA and GSM, if you have a sim card flash GSM, if you do not have a simcard use CDMA.
Let me know how it went

edit: i feel.. pranked now it worked and i went from bootloader to recovery (twrp already installed). can u tell me what to do now? thanks a lot already
Hm,
Well since you cant remove the battery on this phone, id suggest to just let it finish with what it has left off of the battery. once it is closed try to recharge it and then try to boot in recovery, ofc you might not be able to do this today, depends how much battery you had left when the problem started, but it's a chance, also if it's rooted you bootloader will be unlocked so i doubt HTC will grant you warranty for it (not 100% about this though). let us know if you manage to do any progress with it after you manage to make it close.
cheers

i just edited my post. managed to get into recovery (twrp). what do i have to do now?
Download a new rom and transfer it to your sd card, then flash it from your recovery.
If u have the ROM in the SD card just flash it and reboot other wise as he mentioned above

Ok, last night i went to sleep.
You now need to find a way to put a ROM on your SD card. whatever ROM you choose make sure you have the correct kernel for it (in every post for ROMs you will find a download link to the correct kernel aswell).
So what you do now (after you have the ROM .zip file on your SD card and your Kernel file in your PC) is:
-Put your phone into Bootloader, Select fast boot and connect the USB cable, and make sure it tells on your phone "FASTBOOT USB"
-Then in All in One select "Flash Kernel" and browse to the correct Kernel, and flash it.
-Reboot your phone in Recovery mode, you have the option in the fastboot screen.
-In the Recovery menu select Factory Reset -> Wipe System.
-While still in recovery go to "Install update from SD card" (or something similar) and choose the ROM .zip file, wait for it to be flashed
-reboot your phone (1st boot is always a bit slower, could take up to 5 minutes).
-after you get to your main screen, reboot the phone again and flash a Google Apps (gapps) .zip file. You will find the correct version from your ROM in the official thread of the ROM. You DO NOT run a factory reset, wipe system or anything like that for flashing Gapps.
Good luck.
got my phone working again. additionally i tried to "re-stock" my phone via a ruu.exe. now i have a new problem ( -.- ;D). my phone wont connect to wlan. it always hangs on "authenticating with wifi (dont know if translated it the right way)". some has an idea how to solve that problem?
p.s. sry for answering this late. had to do a lot of stuff for my finals :/
edit: was a problem with my router
flash a proper kernel

Well, those actions did not delete the recovery you flashed so you should be able to enter it. If yes you can:
A) take the sdcard out and copy the data to it on your PC (home/work/friend/cafe?)
B) connect the phone to PC using USB cable:
- on PC start Command Prompt (cmd.exe)
- navigate to the directory where you have the new ROM stored
- enter "adb sideload ROM_filename"
- while at the same time in your recovery enter flashing menu and select Sideload
- you will be able to flash rom
C) enter "Download Mode" (power+home+vol_down) also called Odin Download Mode and use PC Odin to flash some recovery - search for Philz custom recovery, he has versions named something.md5 that are usable to Odin.

Deleted OS,phone stuck at home screen,no access to bootloader

I rooted my phone. But accidentally deleted my OS. Before flashing with a new ROM, i wiped off the cache/system/Dalvik cache.
When i tried flashing my device, i got some failure. So, i tried to reboot my device.
But, now i am not able to get into bootloader mode. The device is stuck at home screen with HTC logo and is unresponsive. Nor the power button is working to shut it off. I have to wait to get the battery drained.
Also, Vol Dwn+Power is not working to move it to Fastboot mode, so dat i can recover with my TWRP backup.
Also, i have seen that when the device is powered off, i can access the storage using USB, but can't access it when it is powered ON.
I thought of trying flashing RUU but for that i guess i need USB access to device while it is powered ON.
Please suggest me how to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance

Hi Guys,
I sorted out the issue. Thanks to various information available which i need to put in together to fix.
FIrst of all, the good thing is that i had the TWRP recovery.
I was able to move into Fastboot mode once the device is switched off.
Steps i followed::
1) Place the TWRP backup in the sd card in the proper directory structure.
TWRP -> BACKUPS-> [phone's serial number] -> ROMName
2) Volume up+power button to shut it off.
3) Volume Down+power button to move to Fastboot mode.
4) Select Recovery. You will be moved to TWRP manager.
5) Select Restore there and select the proper recovery folder which u had copied in the sd card.
6) You are done!! BINGO
For those who don't have TWRP backup, they can flash it with a proper ROM available by simply placing the ROM zip in the sd card, wipe the cache from TWRP manager. Select Install from TWRP manager and select the ROM zip and you are done flashing with the new ROM.
