[REQUEST] O2 UK Original firmware - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

Have anyone got a copy of the original firmware that can be flashed via Odin ?
Or, if someone has a nadroid backup (without any data off course) they could share, that would be really appreciated!
Thanks.
P.S. Believe the ROM is i9000ADJF1

hello mate, are you sure that the firmware is I9000ADJF1? I have my phone from O2 and my firmware is XXJF3.

Try Samsung-Firmwares.com, they'll most likely have it.

Thanks guys.
emclondon - sure is, AD indicates a O2 UK firmware according to samsung-firmwares. Was your payg or contract ? And, when you went to the browser for the first time, was the home page an O2 page or something else ? Mine was O2. XX indicates a generic firmware - perhaps you did not buy yours direct from o2 ?
ZAnwar - unfortunately not available for download on samsung-firmwares.com - did check before posting.

I could do with the jf1 as well, not sure if you can do a rom dump with android, if no one has it, I think I'll have to have a look in to it.

i also would like I9000ADJF1

Should be getting my Galaxy S early next month, which will be T-Mobile UK branded, so I'm also interested in the firmware for that as I've not seen it anywhere.
While I can't help with the O2 one, would running ClockworkMod Recovery and thus nandroid be possible via update.zip without rooting, i.e. giving an entirely stock backup? If root is required to run nandroid then that wouldn't be so helpful, as there doesn't seem to be any way to unroot other than re-flashing the original firmware (which we don't have).

I saw the firmware site today, guess you are right. I dont have any branding on it.

T Mobile Rom update 1.15.110.11

I've just run a manual update check and it has found an update from t-Mobile to 1.15.110.11. Downloading now.
Update was quick and painless. No issues and no obvious changes.
Still behind the Generic one i updated to from the T-Mobile one, atm mine is 1.15.405.4
no, it's not behind the generic one.
110 is the code for t-mobile and 405 is the code for HTC branded EU devices. It is not a revision number.
1.15.110.11 is t-mobiles version of 1.15.405.4. they are the exactly the same ROM.
Bonus then
Downloading now, hoping this fixes the Charging issue for me!
Newbie questions...
1. When you say 'generic', does that just mean the standard HTC ROM?
2. I can't see it available for download yet from the HTC website?
3. When available - can you just install it over the top of the T-Mobile ROM - or do you have to 'hack' things somehow?

1. yes
2. might be availiable later, or might be not
3. you need to make a goldcard first then install a generic HTC Rom over the T-mobile one, this doesnt affect your warranty, unless you can flash back to t-mobile rom if you are willing to send it back for some reason
Ok, i've just installed it and i'm seeing the movement from one screen to another is little less smoother now.
Using Open Home, not looked at Sense as yet.
The fact that HTC and T-Mobile are able to tell us what the update actually / does apart from adding a number! is a little concern. Why issue an update if you don't know what it is for?
Will keep eye on Battery and smoothness of phone over w/e.
Just before the update I was looking at the battery usage stats and it said Android was 37% usage.
After upgrade it's now at 62% usage!
Anyone else confirm what is says on theirs?
Could someone who receives this update please take a copy of the file and upload it somewhere and post the url here
This file would be very handy in possibly creating a way of re-branding our t-mobile handsets

Cez, just to clarify for the guy, did you mean this does affect your warranty unless you can flash it back?
If you sent a T-Mobile Desire with the generic ROM back for repair it'd be returned as invalid warranty. If you can get it back to how it was out the box they should be none the wiser
When I check for mine it still says no update.

If you did not receive your phone first (the 27th) I believe you already have the update! Just letting you know
(I think)
Am installing now (actually just finishing) during the process the phone appeared to reboot twice, does that imply a radio upgrade?
By the way, love the update graphics for this, haven't seen any since i updated from 1.0 to 1.1 on the G1.
When ordering, I asked T-Mobile about ROMs - they said I could get updates from themselves or direct from HTC, and neither would invalidate the warranty. Not sure I believed 'em though. I've learnt to take what sales people say with a big 'pinch of salt'!
no, what t-mobile told you was not true, mainly because the guy you asked is likely not paid enough to give a **** about whether he's right or not....

As far as it goes this statement is not incorrect. If you use a legitimate ROM ,designed for your hardware and carrier and released by your carrier and/or hardware manufacturer you will not invalidate the warranty. If you used a ROM released by HTC for Virgin Mobile phones on a T-Mobile phone however this would be unacceptable (assuming they notice the difference)

Unable to start Wifi - bad update - need a step by step

Hi all,
Last night i installed the new update for HTC Desire that popped up, after restarting the phone i now cant use my wifi and get the "unable to start wifi" when trying to enable it in settings.
I see this is a cause of the new update and alot of poeple are having the same problem. I have searched this forum and although finding other posts asking this the replies seem to be a mind boggling array of numbers and i can find a good step-by-step guide to get my phone back in good shape.
So my question is, can someone post a very detailed step-by-step guide to essentially get my phone back to the way it was (getting rid of this update) and then installing this new update properlly if posible. If any files are needed can you give a direct link to them
Here are my phone details:

I had the same problem, what i did was : create a goldcard and root my phone again thus returning to the previews version. That fixed my wifi..i don't know if there is a guide to keep the update and fix it at the same time.
the pirority for me is to get my wifi back up and working, i dont really care about the new update atm.

Download and reinstall the older ROM file? I lost my Wifi after updating my debranded Orange Desire. I simply reinstalled the same ROM i originally used to debrand the phone and soon had my wifi back in no time

Ye a step by step for that would be good, including the link to the file would that wipe the whole phone ? apps/sd and settings included?
Exactly the same problem for me!
I have a Vodafone supplied desire, which was not locked, or branded in anyway, but decided that I would like the WWE rom, as Vodafone almost never bother updating their roms!
I made a Goldcard 3 weeks ago, and installed the WWE Generic rom 1.15.405.4 (I think that's the right number) and a few days ago, got the message telling me of an update.
Like an idiot, I just installed it, and consequently lost WIFI.
Searched the forums and found a link to the full updated rom, using my Goldcard I then installed it, and it's been working fine ever since.
Heres the link to the full rom:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
Here's a link for making a Goldcard:
http://nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
Please be aware that this will completely wipe your device, unlike the update that keeps all of your apps, settings etc, but it does work!
Good luck!

I did the exact same think as many other people, Goldcard Unbranded my Orange Desire few weeks ago, did the OTA update and got my phone Network locked, so I purchased a unlock code and feared my wi-fi would not work when I put the code in, my wifi works fine? , Im wondering what was so different for me? maby if we can figure that out might help other people.

This may be a stab in the dark but maybe the updater checks the network sim lock to help determine what update to install? It may see the Orange network lock and think the phone is still Orange branded and download the Orange customized update, causing a compatibility issue with the wi-fi?

First Time with Android operating system and feel completely lost.

This is my first time with Android operating system and i'm totally clueless from where to start.
I searched desire forums already but information is too much and i end creating up this thread.
Before root/flash and other things i need to clear up few things before i run into trouble. so please be easy.
1. I want to install Apps on micro-sd but can't find the way to do it.
2. How to find out My HTC desire is Branded or Unbranded. On a side note, When i turn on my Mobile I see Virgin Media Logo.
3. What are the benefits to root my phone.
4. If i root my phone will i lose the HTC sense UI? or i need to flash my phone to a custom based ROM?
5. What is Froyo? is it a new version of Android 2.2?
Last but not the least, can i root my device using Windows 7 64bit?
Thanks in advance.

1. You need A2SD (apps to sd). Only available if you root.
2. Your phone is branded so you need a gold card.
3. You get a choice of custom roms, you get A2SD, and you can use apps that require root access.
4. Nope you can use a rooted stock rom, or better still, a custom rom with sense in it.
5. Froyo is the name for the new Android OS. It's 2.2
And last but not least, yes you can! I used win7 64bit. Use the riskfree root guide on modaco. It's painless and very easy.

Are you sure my Phone is branded? because the box i have is white HTC one? and i don't see any virgin logo on it.
Plus i googled it and it came up with this information.
Go to Settings>About Phone>Software version and see what the FW version is - branded is x.xx.161.x, unbranded is x.xx.405.x
i checked mine and it says 405..so is it still branded?
If you have the virgin logo then I'm 99% sure you are branded and will need a goldcard.

I haven't mentioned yet, that i'm in Pakistan and using other Network other than Virgin Media as we don't have that carrier. So basically its a sim free Phone. I mailed HTC regarding this.
any other way out to find about the branded and unbranded phone? other than just the logo ?
If you are going to root it, then try without the goldcard, if you get errors then you will know you need it.
Or simply play safe and make a gold card then root anyway. Being network sim unlocked has nothing to do with the phone being branded. I read that post you linked, and that said it was sim free but the sim caused the branding. if you are not using a virgin sim and have the virgin logo etc, I'd say you may well be branded.
It won't hurt to try either way!

I'd like to know one thing, as i read on few other sites that android 2.2 is due on Monday officially by HTC, so will i be able to flash my rom without any problem or i have to go through the goldcard and root option?
Its delayed for a few months sadly! Hey i just wanted to ask that are you having the time zone prob here in Pak..the phone showing GMT +6 instead of 5? and messing up all the threaded messages?
Im on Ufone btw!
I was wondering, you mentioned its ur first time with Android..why do you want to root it so soon?

yup getting the same +6gmt time..but messages are just fine. btw im using handcent sms/mms client.
i want to root it soon because i'm running out of memory and want to install apps on sd card.
Suppose if i don't root my device and leave it as it is running right now? is it possible to flash my device with the latest HTC froyo? ..
No sadly you cannot flash another rom to the phone without rooting it
Will have to wait for September for the OTA update.
Ive got a branded orange one but still not debranded or rooted it because initially there were problems with wifi not working and stuff like that..But the thing is once the OTA is here and you want to have that, you wont be able to the custom rom...you would have to revert to your original rom and then get it..
Here is the method for rooting it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
But I'd say otherwise. Maybe you should delve a bit deeper into the OS before rooting it because there is a chance to brick your phone if you make a mistake.
The solution that I am using for the low storage is that removing unnecessary app from the phone. For example you have installed google earth on the phone, The apk file would be 5.9mb but once installed it will expand to 13mb and eat up a large chunk of that space.
To check the memory consumed by each app go to:
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications
So this will enable you to have a rough idea of whats draining your memory.
Hope this helps!

That last bit was specific to Vodafone UK, the x.xx.161.x refers to their product code. the x.xx.405.x is the product code of SIM-free devices. If you phone is x.xx.405.x then you have an unbranded phone (for reference, Virgin's product code is x.xx.351.x)

Well thanks. ..such a relief.
than why i have virgin Media logo on it? its a bug? as mentioned by other XDA user.
Guys finally updated the firmware to the latest Generic one without unbranding and creating the Goldcard. everything went smoothly.
But still after update i see the virgin media logo and still im clueless from where does this come after updating to the latest firmware.
so this all clears up that i have the unbranded phone ? right?
In android Market i can't see the Paid apps. Even the Featured Apps page isn't showing. I'm getting No Matching Content in Android Market.
Other than this i can install the free apps without any problem. Anyone facing similar issue?

Vodafone UK finally release Android 2.2!

I just checked for a software update and its available, downloaded and can confirm its 2.2, also all the voda branding has gone!
You do neen at least 25mb free space on your phone for the update to install btw.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Vodafone 2.2 updgrade
do you have a link for it, i couldn't find it.
Yes, finally... and they are the first UK network to update their branded Desires to FroYo. AFAIK.
I'm with T-mobile and we don't even have a certain date yet...
Just installed it
On initial inspection, the only downside is my gps now not working
I haven't realy 'played' yet thought as I'm at work but I think a hard reset and go from there is going to be the way fowards
I've got it as well, had to re enter apn settings though. Having problems with wifi settings cant get into them, keeps asking for credential storage password. Anyone else getting this?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
can anyone root this and upload it? i am not sure if i can trust vodafone anymore
Also installed today, vodafone have removed all the bloatware because we all made a big stink about it. No more useless crap on my phone so I'm happy.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
A root version would be amazing... i'm just getting to grips with root, don't really want to lose it yet!
Well done to Vodafone for listening though.
Anyone wanna extract the new radio from it for everyone else?
You own a Vodafone HTC Desire righ? With your help we can get the download link. A person on Vodafone UK official forum managed to download the latest firmware by some smart work. All he did was checked the name of the file that the phone was slowly downloading. So what you need to do is capture the OTA_..... text from your phone and paste it in the place holder. http://liveimage.htc.com//[OTA_goeshere].zip.Please share if you manage to do it successfully.
No I don't, I've got a generic WWE Desire...I just want the radio from the new OTA update
OTA_Bravo_Vodfone_UK_2.10.161.2_1.24.161.3_releasejldotwm8uy2ohjmf.zip
OTA_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_2.10.161.2-1.24.161.3_releasejldotwm8uy2ohjmf.zip
wrong link before...
Is there a way to download that file, replace the Hboot and load it as a custom ROM?
Nice, downloading it now!
EDIT: How do you extract the radio from the OTA file?
Anyone got the link from 1.19.161.x to 2.10.161.2? Would be good for people wanting to update manually
Got the radio btw, will upload it later tonight
Hm, I posted it earlier, but looks like its still waiting to be approved (posts with links have to be approved for "new" users)
Radio is up in the Development forum, been using it and it seems OK

[Help!] Quick question about flashing from Virgin branding to WWE

I've been reading and flashing all afternoon.
I have a non-simlocked phone but it has a Virgin Media bootscreen and a link app on the home page to their website.
I've flashed successfully twice with WWE ROMs but after it's all done, it goes through the device setup screens (as expected) but when it gets round to the home screen, the Virgin stuff pops up again.
It's almost like I do really flash it, but the branding is persisting for some reason and I can't do any OTA Froyo updates or anything as it is presumably looking for the Virgin version which may never come.
So, what am I doing wrong here?
Cheers,
Joe
What is the full name of the RUU you have flashed with?
These are the ones I used:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe
Both ran the course successfully and so I expected the Virgin stuff to have gone, only for it to reappear.
Have I used the right ones?
Only other thing (if relevant) is that I haven't rooted and my current end goal is a plain old vanilla Froyo from HTC (official version). I had planned on using these ROM's to enable an OTA update to take place you see...
EDIT: I see this page says to have the update.zip on the SD whereas the method I was doing was get into bootloader on the phone and run the exe on the PC.
http://www.droid-den.com/phone-guides/phone-guide-how-to-root-the-htc-desire <--see section 4 for the extra file that they say to use.
Thanks for any advice dudes - I've been going round in circles with this for 4 hours now!
It'd seem those two RUUs have Virgin branding included, especially if you were able to run them without a goldcard.
If all you want to do is end up with stock froyo just run the RUU directly:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...3.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
This will require a goldcard.
Ok thanks a lot for that.
I'm a bit new to Android coming from years of WinMo - can I ask how does it work that after the ROM's been flashed that the Virgin stuff comes back?
Is there a portion of the phone's ROM that doesn't get overwritten? I'm on T-Mobile for a network so it's not getting it from my SIM.
Cheers,
Joe

I haven't looked at those two RUUs, but they could contain code to install some Virgin branding after flashing if your phone has a Virgin CID.
An RUU will flash the entire phone's software.
So the Goldcard lets me flash the ROM but then afterwards the CID kicks in and tells the newly installed firmware to be carrier specific then?
Ok, my end goal has changed very slightly - get to a stock HTC 2.2 ROM and get rid of the Virgin branding!
Going for some food - back in 15 mins! I want to get this sorted!
Thanks,
Joe
Normally that won't happen. If you flash stock froyo you should get rid of any Virgin branding.
Ok, I'm going in.
Call 999 if I'm not back in half an hour
I will report back soon!
Remember you need a goldcard, or you'll be back sooner than you hope.
All done thanks.
Yes I used my Goldcard and it's all gone through fine, same as the others, except...(drum roll)...no Virgin branding!!!!
I tried an update check afterwards and nothing's available - all up to date - I assume then this is the newest build out there and there's nothing else to update now?
Thanks a million for your help - if I could buy you a beer or two I would but the chances of you being near SW Essex in the UK are low.
Cheers,
Joe
Heh, thanks. That is the latest unbranded build, yes - make sure you use a goldcard whenever you want to install future OTA updates though.
