Lockscreen Replacement App - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

If anyone is interested in replacing their default lockscreen, I recommend Widget Locker. It's on the market for 1.99 but well worth it. I tried them all, LockBot Pro, Lock 2.0, etc, however, Widget Locker is by far the best. Very smooth, no lag, does not drain battery or have any FC's. I've been using it for a couple of days now without any issues. It's up to you whether you want to put widgets on your screen or simply just change the background/lock style. Enjoy.

I also recommend Widget Locker..
Its afaik the fastest one..

I use Fency Widget on Top, then SMS Unread count for SMS and for missing calls...
Maybe a music player widget would be coul.
You can enable/disable interactions with widgets.
It would be very cool, if you would be able to hide widgets, if the are not used or sth (would need an interface for interactions).

Found it on market for 1.99 ??

OH MY!!! this app is so worth the money! so many lock screen options!
BEST!!

Sorry, I thought it was .99. I've updated the original post.

seriously this lock screen is perfect i would of paid more, thankyou OP i was looking for something like this
how often does the Dev update the app?

I wrote an E-Mail to the author, because during phonecalls the launcher was sometimes enabled..
After several days a new update where out with new additional features..

nice...now to replace the stock dailer with something quick and has full screen called ID and im set! anyone know of a good replacement dailer>?

does the drop/pull down music player control widget still function with widget locker?

Awesome! i'll try it out

I released WidgetLocker 1.0 on June 16th and it's on 1.2.2 now (July 27th). The version integer is at 12 but I'm not sure I actually released that many to the public (I don't always bump it for betas but do sometimes).
As it matures more the updates will probably get slower (And less necessary). But it's still young and already the best lockscreen on the market. And I have plenty more ideas and things to implement (And alas some bugs still to fix).

You can enable the notification bar in the widget locker lockscreen..
So the music player should work too.. You can also interact with the widgets if you press an activate button (which you can configure).

im sorry, but the music player in notification bar is diffrent from the music control widget in the default lock screen and enabling the notification bar would be defeating the purpose of the lock screen, i think.
i might try this though to check if the music player control in the default lockscreen will work with widgetlocker

As long as you do not press the "activation" key, the display stays black and you cannot interfact with widgets or the notfication bar..
I dont know the music player from the original widget locker..

Dear Dev, still loving the app, can you on your next release please have an option to play/assign unlocking sounds, that would be even better

For next release you'll get to play an unlocking sound. Release after that you'll get to assign your own. I'm trying to get the next release wrapped up quickly since it includes some Sense-Froyo fixes and that just hit the Desire and EVO.

I didn't find the Widget Locker on Market.
Where is it?

You probably see only the free apps! There was fix somewhere here in the forum for this!

You're right. I see only the free apps!
I'll fix it!
Thanks my friend!

I really like this app too, but the name sucks. Have tried it because i thought i can lock WIDGETS for input. Never thought of it being a lockscreen
So quite misleading i guess...

Has anyone else tried the ADW Launcher off the Android Market?
It installs alongside the default TouchWiz launcher so you can revert to the default settings if you don't like ADW.

also how do you find the battery life with the launcher? heard it drains the battery quite a bit?
i have install the ADW Launcher, so how do i launch it, does the galaxy s do to be rooted?
No root needed to run ADW Launcher.
Next time you press the "Home" key you'll get the choice of completing the action with ADW Launcher or TwLauncher.
Edit: Also trying out LauncherPro beta.
On another forum someone suggested using "Home Switcher" to quickly switch between different launchers - available on the market.
i use LauncherPro beta and works nice on Sgs, and like you say one push on home and you can chose what launcher to go for.

Samsung widgets in ADW
I'm having the same problem. I like some of the Sammy widgets, but they seem to have disappeared once ADW was activated. Also, I can't seem to find a way to switch between launchers. Tried pressing the home key every way I could think of, but no joy.

Clear the defaults against adw under settings -> applications then press the home button - it will give you a choice of launchers again. Once back in tw the sammy widgets will appear again.

[HOWTO]Customize your Lockscreen with Widgetlocker

I didn't find a thread dedicated to customizing your lockscreen, tought it might be a good idea to post a quick how-to in case some people didn't know about this yet. I've gotten a lot of help from this community so I wanted to give something back, even if it's something small
So the Widgetlocker app allows you to modify your lockscreen, you can add app shortcuts, widgets, sliders, actions, change the background and a bunch of other stuff.
1. Download the Widgetlocker app.
2. Open the app, get into the "tool mode" (tutorial has a good explanation on the different modes).
3. Long press on the screen and there you can choose to add a custom slider, application shortcut or widget.
4. For custom sliders chose ICS theme to make it look like stock, then long press and click edit. You can add up to 4 different actions/shortcuts/applications.
Here are some screenshots of mine, nothing fancy, just 2 extra sliders with 4 apps each. Added flashlight and sound toggle to the default slider and weather widget below the clock.

Haven't experienced any battery drain so far. The app was a bit quirky at first but checking the "Root Helper" option in advanced settings and disabling the default lockscreen helps a lot.
Good info for those who don't know about it, gabster21. As an addition, there's eleventy billion (no, really, there's so many that they had to create a new index on Google Docs) WidgetLocker themes in this thread, with support from the dev here. BTW the dev is the always-awesome and responsive [email protected], who is responsible for Nova Launcher, which even in beta whoops the stock launcher's butt, so if you haven't already, be sure to thank hi as well as gabster21 and zHk3R.

Another cool feature, useful for advanced users (especially those with root): If you go into WL's settings menu and hold the volume-down button for a couple seconds, you get an additional menu of "experimental" settings. But as the title says, they really are experimental, which means they're unsupported and may not work or even break functionality.
When the ICS slider is at the bottom it expands very small, much smaller than the stock bubble (where the selections sit). But when the slider is moved up from the bottom of the grid it expands all the way, giving a longer travel from the center before a toggle is selected. Does anyone know why this is?
EDIT: I would delete this if I could figure out how. The circle expands less because I had a shortcut on the bottom which would get cut off if it expanded more.
Hello droids
I completely forgot how to customize the maingrid of the app.
In my previous setup i had clock, battery % and (eventually) battery status charging (like gabster21 lockscreen)
I need phosphoreus, but how to config again in this way?
Thanks
Ok for now i solved by an experimental function (hold down volume button in settings menu) but i would know still how i did that customization in the maingrid...

[APP] Lockscreen Policy - Disable Android 4.2+ Lockscreen Widgets, Camera

Published to Google Play, Here
(Attached v1.2.2, v1.2.3)
This gets rid of the lockscreen widgets and camera on the homescreen on Android 4.2 or higher.
If you have root, you can disable the bold-hour clock widget from the action bar menu, under 'Clock Hack'. (since 1.2)
The app is completely free. I don't foresee adding anything much to this app (I could add a couple of toggle widgets).
This is a lightweight app at 80KB.
There's a known issue under 4.2.2:
With the clock hack disabled, the clock widget toggles between the bold hour clock and the non-bold hour clock every other unlock. If your device is rooted, you can use the clock hack to get the device to consistently display the non-bold hour clock. Otherwise, there isn't anything I can do for you immediately. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I had no control over this.
Disable widgets and/or camera access on the lockscreen under Android 4.2.
Usage:
1) Run application
2) Make selections, and press activate
3) In the 'Activate device administrator' screen, choose 'Activate'
4) Verify settings, and press 'Apply'
5) To change settings, either press the 'Reset' button or hit the back key from the app to return to the setup screen
Uninstall:
To uninstall, uncheck the application from the 'Device Administrator' list under 'Security' in 'Settings'.
Privacy:
I do not collect any personal information with this completely free application.
No permissions other than device administrator required.

This app succeeds where stock Android has failed. :good:
Thank goodness...
The lockscreen was seriously driving me nuts. I hated seeing that widget box every time I turned it on. Thank you for providing a way to turn it off. I just wish Google had made it optional in the first place.
Now, if you could just help me change that ugly, ugly clock font. :good:
It might be possible to change the default clock as more devs support lockscreen widgets, because I think it's just a widget there...
Looks good I am going to have to try this out.

Installing. The lockscreen changes haven't impressed me much.
works on Nexus 7
THANK YOU!

I'll test it for you on Nexus S, send me the apk via PM or open it on Google Play.
Thanks for the report for the Nexus 7. I checked out some videos and realized that tablets don't have a camera swipe gesture on the lockscreen. Checking the 'camera' option doesn't really hurt anything though, at least as of the currently available Android API.
Functionally the app is not going to change much. The icon is hideous, but I know it's annoying to have to update for something minor like that, so that's not coming until there's a good idea for something that needs to be in the app.

Allow Clock Replacement Widget?
Thanks for getting this app up so quickly!
I know you're probably not going to add much to it, but I have one request. Is it possible to make it work with clock replacement widgets like the "Fixed 4.2 Clock Widget" (can't link to it in the Play Store because I haven't posted 10 times yet).
That widget fixes the weird bolded-hour clock thing Google decided to do for 4.2, but I can't use it if I disable widgets with your app. If there was a way to disable the addition of new widgets (swiping to the left) but still allow a replacement widget on the primary lock screen, that would be perfect.
Would it be possible to disable Google Now? I'd really appreciate that ability. How did Google screw the lock screen so bad?!
Not sure how the clock widget can be changed.
Also noticed that if a music player has lockscreen widgets, they show up on a new page...
You can disable system apps in Android 4.2. If you disable Google Search in Applications, you lose the swipe up gesture from the soft buttons, but the lockscreen will still show a weird looking dot where Google Now is activated.

Was just thinking the exact same thing. You're right, if this could be done it would be absolutely perfect. :good:
Why oh why do we have to look at that awful clock font? If only there was a way to remove it completely. And why did they decide to have that place holder flash up on the left every single time I unlock? I know I can add a widget, there's no need to remind me every single time I unlock!
I don't think I see a good way of changing the default widget unless you replace the system clock app.

[How-To] Android 4.3 Lockscreen - Adding Widgets

Android 4.3 Lockscreen - Adding Widgets/Creating your own Lockscreen
The Android 4.3 Lockscreen is an enigma. For those of you that have it figured out, good for you.
For the rest of us... some things just take a little longer.
- Transparent Weather Clock by Droid27 pictured for demonstration
Step 1. Settings/Lockscreen/Multiple widgets - Check this option
Step 2. Lock the phone
Step 3. Unlock the phone, place your finger near the top and HOLD and swipe down the screen (and release). You should see the Lock symbol at the bottom.

}
Step 4. Swipe right until you see the + symbol (You can have multiple lockscreens configured).
Step 5. Add your widget.
Step 6. Press the Lock symbol to save. This is my finished product.
How to make your new lockscreen the default lockscreen:
1. Open locksceen
2. Swipe down like above notes
3. Swipe right to get to your new lockscreen
4. HOLD AND DRAG the entire screen over to the very right of the screen, it will start to scroll right. Let it finish until it is now the HOME lockscreen.
(the lockscreen position indicator at the bottom will move as it drags also until the home icon is highlighted as default, then you can release)
Good idea to write it out. I'll admit that I have never even bothered setting anything but lock screen wallpaper because this is about what I thought was involved, lol, and I "pick my battles" for what to figure out.

I got tired of staring at just the clock and it was hard to find any information on the new 4.3 lockscreen because you can't really add anything to it, you have to create a new one.
Edit: And OMG, that clock weather widget has a ton of neat stuff you can customize the look of the widget with too.
Transparency level, darkness, fonts, icons, notifications, what info displays etc...

There's a difference between the Multiple Widgets and Lockscreen Widgets.
The Multiple Widgets enables multiple lockscreens where you can add an app shortcut or third party widget and the Lockscreen Widgets doesn't really enable third party widgets, just a few very limited things. I posted a screenie of the sub-menu it provides.

Media widget

Hello
I just installed the Next Launcher,
Id like to implement a widget similar to the one used be the stock rom; whereby if the Radio is playing, the station is shown on the widget, or music playing etc.
Does anyone know where to get this?
Thanks.
I'd like to know that too, but AFAIK that functionality is integrated in the original launcher and cannot be transfered to other launchers.
About the music player, I resorted using another app that has its own widget, but I lost the knob functions:
left knob push: pause play
right knob rotation: move to previous/next
I have the original stock rom and don't use the xposed framework.
Yeah thanks,
No problem, Ill manage without.
You can use the KGL widgets from Android 4.2.2 versions, sure theyre on the fileserver somehwere.
Thanks typos1 for the suggestion.
I found the widget repository:
http://huifei.fs-fileserver.de/content/apps/KGL Widgets/
Going to test them tomorrow on my Eonon with ADWlauncherEx
Tested tonight...
Media player widget works correctly: start/stop/previous/next/time elapsed/length
However no cover shown, song title limited to a few words only.
Radio widget: works almost correctly, only pause button has no effect.
However no station name shown, station frequency only.
Overall, these 2 widgets are relatively small, and it might be difficult to precisely push their buttons especially when driving.

And they don't change automatically when you change sound source. E.g. in JY launcher default fixed "widget" it changes automatically into the radio / player if you change the app. With separate widget for each app you have to overcrowd screen surface keeping both widgets while only one is effective.
I would like if we could have combined widget...
Yes I agree, the best thing would be something like the Klyde or Joyous Launcher's "widget" thats not actually a widget at all but built into the launcher, made into a proper widget, but without the clock (dont need one as its in the notification panel) as I also want other widgets on my homescreen, but the Klyde/Joyous launchers dont allow other widgets.
Unfortunately I cant really code, so its not something I can do, but when I ve got time I do intend to at least try and decompile one of these launchers and try and remove the time bit (and the stupid car apps bit), maybe even try and figure out how to turn them into proper widgets.
(By the way, when I used the KGL widgets I used one per desktop - dont forget as Android is Linux you get several desktops - so you dont have to overcrowd.)
