Wireless Tether and Market Fixes - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone running 2.2 Froyo (any of the new builds) have fixes for these issues? I do not want to use the overlock kernel and lose camera access. I just want to use Ava or any of the other builds with these items working.
Tether doesn't work -- broken on all versions that I've tried (Wireless Tether for Root Users, Barnacle, Sprint). The market is not showing all apps -- the zip fix floating around here does not work. A search for "video results" lists 774 results.

And I don't want to run Cyanogen because 4G and FM radio do not work....

[Q]InsertCoint can't find WIFI hotspot emulated by Connectify.

Just flashed InsertCoin 1.08 cm7 version on my HTC Desire.
After that, Desire was unable to find the WIFI hotspot emulated by the Connectify software installed on my Thinkpad x60.
However, when I was using the CyanogenMod 7 on my Desire, it worked all right.
Any idea what the problem could be?
Tried wifi-n patch?
http://insertcoin.dataninja.net/WIP/Addons/WiFi-N-PATCH/
The connection is visible to others (not hidden) ?
Also CM7 has some networking hacks (e.g. Ad-hoc enabling) - that HTC ROMs do not have.
Also check settings in Connectify.

[Q] Portable wi-fi hotspot not working after installing MIUI Rom

Hi,
I just flashed the latest MIUI on my DInc. On my old ROM I had the Wireless Tether app and it worked fine. With this ROM there is an option of "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot". I can get it to connect to my laptop but my laptop shows limited or no connectivity. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?
Here's my phone info:
Android version - 2.3.5
Baseband version - 2.15.00.09.01
Kernel version - 2.6.36.6-cyanogenmod+
Build number MIUI-109230
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
Same issue here. I am using 10/1 incredikernel. Can't even get the old wireless tether.apk to work either.
Hopefully someone can help us out here. I installed the barnacle wifi tether app and it works fine, but i'd still like to know what causing my problem with the portable wifi hotspot.
TTT...Anyone????

[Q] Bluetooth Tethering - kernel and/or ROM?

Hey all-
I have a need to bluetooth tether for data connectivity (data being provided by my GNex).
The current setup I have doesn't seem to work (Paranoid Android ROM + latest Trinity test kernel). I've tired to tether from my car's SYNC system and from my HTC Flyer tablet.
Is this functionality more a ROM thing, or a kernel thing?
Can anyone suggest a setup that definitely allows them to bluetooth tether for data, just so I can see if I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks!

[ROM][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 13.0 Nightlies for the LG GPad 7.0 LTE (v410)

Flashed cm-13.0-20160214-NIGHTLY-v410 to my device, all is working except double tap to wake and wi-fi tethering.
If you're getting 'Unfortunately, Google Play Services stopped' error on latest CM13 + Open GApps, try this fix:
su
adb shell pm grant com.google.android.gms android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
(if on Terminal Emulator then removed 'adb shell' from second line)
Now remove Google account and re-add it.
Anyone using CM13 on V410 please confirm if WiFi tethering is working for you?

Hi - I too have an issue with wifi tethering in a CM13 nightly, V410 - This nightly is from 5/2016 (I will post the exact build later). When I go into settings, I switch on tethering, it pauses for a moment, and then shows the word "error" without the tethering switch ever changing to the "on" position. I have tried other tethering apps from googleplay, but all the free apps I have tried seem to create senseless "shortcuts" that simply layer over the non-working tether function that is already built-in to CM13. They do not have their own independant tether functionality. FYI, I don't THINK I have a tethering plan, but I am not sure. my plan is limited to a single gig on my tablet, though my iphone's are unlimited through ATT/Directv.
Questions: 1) does anyone know of a nightly were tethering works?
2) if not, what is a tethering app I can use instead of the built in tether function, free from googleplay?
Thank you
Please have any one finded solution for the tethering problem. in cm13?

Minimalist ROM with microG support advice?

Dear all LG G7 users, I would like to create this thread to discuss about ways of using LG G7 with all the basic features working and without Google Apps and Services.
I have a EU G7 with latest firmware and updates (Android 10) This is what I am looking for:
Working USB Tethering Hotspot and WiFi hotspot
Working Gcam
Working Bank Apps
Working microG
Good GPS signal
AOD - Always On Display (if possible)
DT2W - Double Tap to Wake (if possible)
I see there are a few ROMs like LineageOS 18.1, Dot 5, and others. But I am unsure of which one offers the stability I am looking for (not customization). It is ok to use Android 10.
I have downloaded the file from LG to unlock my bootloader, so I am ready my goal is to get rid of Google, and I am aware that with stock rom, even if I like it, it is not possible.
Thanks in advance for everyone who will join the discussion.

I thought custom ROMs based on Android 11 did not have USB tethering. So not even Android 10 based custom ROMs have it? That's strange that a paid app like PDANET allows USB tethering

Because the app itself allow it through their own method. its not using android's implementation. And no, not even android 10 roms have it working on g7
Hi there, I am still here, trying to find a way of minimizing the Google impact in the stock ROM.
Could someone please update me if a custom rom has USB tethering working? And if the answer is still a big NO, is there a way to debloat or degoogle the stock rom via unlocking bootloader and root? Ideally I would love to replace Play Services with microG, or at least remove Play Services while keeping the phone booting. Any advices are appreciated.
EDIT: seems like this is a viable option for me, anyone tried? : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-degoogle-any-device-and-install-microg.4058743/
For other searching here: I just installed AOSPK from Emanuel (telegram group) and it is Android 12 based. Here USB-Tethering works out of the box and the ROM does support signature spoofing so microg can be used right away.
